Warning, Oti's salt levels may be unbearably high at this point. Four out of five of the Wanderers are at various levels of 'savaged', then Wolf romps home smelling of wet dog, but otherwise hale and hearty. The Half-elf may not be too pleased considering the condition of the two ladies of the group.

Captain Hesperus

Fully understood and appreciated, Cap'n. It is scenes like these where role-players and their skills are put to the test. Questions like, "What does my character do and say?" "How will my fellow players take what my character is going to do and say?" (and among my favorites) "What can I say in OOC so that my fellow players fully understand where my character and I are coming from?" I love it when players express themselves in OOC as you have just done, Cap'n. It means that the highways of communication are open and running smoothly. =)

When I asked each of you to join in Sharseya online last year, I did so because I felt that each of you are individually good role-players. Regardless of the game, the way you wrote, the creativity you expressed (Wolf's poetry), the maturity and friendliness you displayed in your OOC dealings - all of those things (and more) made a really good impression on me. After that, my only real concern was how we would all mesh together. And hey! We communicate pretty well! =)

Anyways, I thought that was worth sharing. I don't have to remind you to just let your characters be themselves; all of you do that already! And I like that! Game on! =)

@Kaerri Bren and Otiorin are now using the salve. One of you please roll to see how many hit points Bria regained. =)
GM's reminded me this hasn't been done yet, so I'm going to go ahead and roll. Also, I'd like to have Bren have taken the salve back from Otiorin during the healing, unless you say otherwise, Cap'n.

Ah, you meant prose. That's what I figured *woof*

Well with A Wolf's Tale I aim to finally write something worthwhile.

I feel like such a non conformist since I'm only using spoiler tags for Luna's spells and hit points.

Fortitude save coming up.

Folks? Consider any messages Luna wishes relayed through Sparkle communicated to whomever Sherwood designates. =)

Sorry for going cheap on the posts but there's alot going on ingame and I'm having difficulties getting into RPing Wolf right now. Too many multiple retrospective scenes. It makes me basically skim the text instead of properly reading it, looking for clues as to what I'm supposed to reference in my next post. If we could take down the complexity by a notch, it would help. A bit.

I also haven't been feeling good for a long time now. Still waiting for that vacation I spent 16 months waiting for... I don't think it's coming, though.

Woof.

Passing on a message from Dannigan:

Luna's hit points are healed, but her voice is not back. He put a note to that effect in the Shop Talk spoiler but maybe should have put it more visibly. He suggests people change their posts accordingly?

Ah. I misunderstood. I saw that the damage was healed, and thought that Luna could talk again. I'll edit my post.

Folks, if you want a less-complex game with fewer retrospective scenes, just keep the party together. One party, one scene! =)

If there is a lot going on in-game, it is because the party split up and started two stories at the same time. That whole scene with Little Cub and Chomper? I had that set aside for all of the Wanderers to participate in. But Leonard left and went in the direction of that story. What is a fair-minded Dungeon Master to do? I did not think it right to put up a big brick wall on his path that said, "Sorry, group content only ahead - come back later with your party, friend." Leonard wanted to do his own thing and it was within his rights, so he started another story on his own. I'm not trying to pick on Leonard (or Wolf!); this is simply the biggest example I can think of to draw upon. You might know of other examples (in other games?).

Remember that story complexity in a game like ours is a choice. It's a decision each of you make. Want everyone on the same page? All you have to do is stick together. Also, doing so definitely makes things easier on your storyteller. =)

Sorry if this comes across as forceful; I am stressed from Real Life (holiday season!) and I just don't know any other way to put it. I wish you less stress and more fun! =)

You misunderstood. I meant from the moment the group joined back together onward. But never mind. I can't even explain it...

Probably just my fault anyway.

It is nothing, Wolf. You are innocent of ruining anyone's fun; you just made things a little more challenging for a short while. No worries. =)

As for the many things happening at once, I apologize for my lengthy posts recently. While Creativity and I may be bosom buddies, Brevity and I sometimes live on entirely different planets. Bria and Powerpaw felt pretty strongly about what they wanted to say and do (Bria: Needed a hug, heal the party, show her care for Rin, help restore Luna and the masked warrior, etc.; Powerpaw: Help Leonard, help restore Luna, learn about the masked warrior who beat him in a single combat round, etc.), so I let them say it. That doesn't mean you want to read through all that, though. Some of you seem very interested in the NPCs, some of you don't, and that's O.K. =)

As for the level of complexity, here's what I can do:

1. Have Powerpaw, Bria, and Sabrefang have a "pow-wow" (meeting) of their own. That'll answer their questions and save you from having to have your characters describe it from their perspectives.

2. I can also take the masked warrior situation and story "offstage." Besides Kaerri, I don't know who among the players are interested in him anyway (no one has even asked who he is or how Bria knows him). Understand that Bria's interest in him is in no way changing; she means to help that man. But all that can happen behind closed doors and out of your way (because that's what Bria would/will do). If anyone wants to know what's going on, all they have to do is join them. The ones who don't won't have to skim through text they'd rather not read. It's your game time too.

3. I'll have the other NPCs just ask the folks in Option #1 what all happened (because face it, if you were Stewart or either hobbit, you'd want to know) and that, too, will save you typing/reading.

4. We'll focus on what the players want (Luna healed) and you guys can take it from there.

Remember that the four of you represent the steering wheel in this game; I'm just the engine behind it all.

Furthermore, now that you've three battle-worthy NPCs (Powerpaw, Bria, Sabrefang), you can vote if you want on who to come along on your adventures (two, one, or none). That will also cut down on my lengthy posts and chatter. Just keep in mind that it's probably best for Bria to be there when a certain masked warrior comes to.

Hope that helps. What are your thoughts? How do you want the game to be played?

One reason that Luna hasn't asked more about the man that was wearing the crown of thorns is that she is a bit preoccupied with the possibility that her spell casting ability may be gone for good, unless the object in her throat can be safely removed. Once that question is resolved, she will be able to wonder what the monks of Wee Jas were doing with this man as their prisoner, and how they able to capture him in the first place.

That's fine by me, Sherwood (and understandable from Luna's point of view).

Are there any changes to the game you want to see?

No, not really. I have been enjoying the game a lot, even when things don't go my way. I think that my only complaint is having to train up for each level instead of just advancing. But, that one little gripe is a tiny thing, and I can understand the argument for having to train up each level. I have enjoyed the various interactions between both the other characters and the NPCs, and I feel that Luna is growing as a person as she struggles through her challenges.

All in all, this has been a great time and I look forward to seeing what comes next!
