Yes, exactly. Still moving at the party's top speed, just at the back in case the minotaurs have some way to catch up. *crosses fingers for luck*

Question: Can Bronze make lumber? Note: Bronze is a naturalist, he would plant more trees first, and dig up the Burl (Rootball) because they make beautiful handles, bowls, and the like. He'll go for Deadfall if possible.

Hmm. I don't know if that would fall under his Craft (Woodworking) or a skill he doesn't have, Profession (Woodcutter).

I did find something interesting looking it up, though:

A successful Craft check related to woodworking in conjunction with the casting of the ironwood spell enables you to make wooden items that have the strength of steel.
We might want to look into ways to get that available to you in some form.

Saw this and had to share!

@All. For those folks who are on right now, this latest post in Chapter Four is a work-in-progress (I need to make a lot of die rolls). I'll post again here once the post is ready to go. Until then, please disregard it. =)

A quick glance tells me that there was quite the fight between Powerpaw and Dubble Trubble.

You can say that again. Those die rolls are something else!

Re: The chase. Kaerri pointed out a wording issue (goof) of mine. To be clear, the Master Wizard is following his minotaurs who are following you guys.

@All. Let me get some dinner into us (that was a lot of post!) and I'll continue the IC thread tonight. =)

I will be asleep soon.... The downside of living in the UK ;_;

Just assume that Otiorin is moving alongside Bren, covering the retreat with his bow.

Captain Hesperus

Can do, Cap'n. And thanks for the like on that last post. =)

On second thought, I'll pause here and let Wolf Rawrrr and Killfire get a chance to catch up before I post again (hyperactivity iz in full effect! Zzzzzooooooooom!) =)

Since we can hear the wizard shouting incantations, can I understand what spells he's casting?

Good thinking, Sherwood! Luna can understand if you roll spectacularly with a Spellcraft check. Give it a shot here. =)

The best way to identify a spell is to watch all of its components in action. Luna can only hear it. Still, she's well-trained. If any Wanderer can do it, it's her. =)

Nicely done!

The master wizard is casting Summon Monster V. =)

As if the three minotaurs were not enough of a threat, now there is some other-worldly critter coming to join in the party. <evil glare at Dannigan>

*Holds out his hands and bows his head* You asked me once if I wanted to join a game of evil-aligned characters. Characters like Karthas are one of the big reasons I don't like being in evil heads for too long. Why? Because my good characters are really good (like Bria), but my evil characters are sons-of-bitches that even I despise...

And that, I think, is one of my secrets to creating characters. =)

I'll further say this: My bad guys have just telling me how much they want you all dead and what they are willing to do for it. =) But nearly every one of you has an advantage I've been keeping track of this whole time...

The Wanderers' Boots of Striding and Springing. =)

Remember how these babies add 10 feet to your character's movement every round (and recall how useful they were when Luna was kiting the first band of Bloodland Minotaurs)? Since the chase began, the Wanderers have been steadily outdistancing Karthas's minotaurs (hence their taunting; by the way, Kaerri has told me that Bren is flat-out ignoring these taunts - a wise move). If the Wanderers keep up the pace and leave nothing to chance, they are very likely to make it to Skaagenrackner safely. If, however, any of the Wanderers give pause, I cannot foretell what will happen to them.

This is why I'm glad Bren convinced Otiorin to run with the party. Again, great RPing! You might not realize it, but RP like this has been earning you guys bonus RP points. =)

Well, if it's kiting you want, I think Otiorin would be the best for that. With all his AC buffs covered (Dodge, Shield, Dex mod, armor, etc), and his ability to deliver a ranged sting as necessary (Gravity Bow-buffed short bow), he'd make the most appropriate kiter. Then Luna and Wolf can provide ranged DPS with their Gravity Bow-buffed attacks while Bren can be aggro mitigation with Bria on heals. Then, once Powerpaw gets done stomping Dubble Trubble into Ettin paste, we can start to turn the tide with some direct DPS.

Captain Hesperus

Re: Kiting. In general, I agree that Otiorin would be the best kiter, however I was only referring to kiting as a reference to Luna's ability to stay alive during the forest encounter with that first band of minotaurs. I am not recommending kiting here; I'm recommending running. This situation here in the Wellspring of Change is even more dangerous than that exciting battle.

Now that it's been about a day in Real Life, I feel comfortable posting again in the story and will do so soon. =)

So yeah... Sometimes my characters seem to take on lives of their own (or at least, opinions). The bad guys can get scary. When they "ask" me to act on these things, I can't help but first check if it's in-character for them to do so, then see if they can actually do it, then see if they can somehow put their nefarious plots into action. In this case, Karthas the Master Jerk got smart when he and his minotaurs were pursuing you and... out of fairness, I'll just put it this way - thank you for fleeing as a party. No one is having to roll another character and we're not having the "Does your character want to be rezzed?" talk.

Good going. =)

I'm sorry for the inactivity but I got overwhelmed with... Not sure what I wanna call it but mainly things, personal and work related, due to which I've barely had to the to sleep a couple hours a night let alone do anything else.

Just so you don't think I'm wasting time doing something else for myself. I literally couldn't do anything at all but I hope I can soon.

Autopiloting Wolf so far was good. He will stick close to Luna and act to protect her.

Hang in there. We'll be here waiting for you when you're ready.

@Wolf Rawrrr No worries, friend! There's a saying I've been using for years: "Real Life Always Comes First."

Get your sleep, handle Real Life, and Leonard Wolf will continue to be on auto-pilot. =)

Ooo if he's gonna be away can I bury him in fluffy pillows?

Yes! Its another time and moment for... SILLYNESS!!!! (Starts gathering fluffy pillows)
