Let's see... Facing a superior foe that we have no interest in slaying or camp out in the general area swarming with otherworldly minions of the said foe? No thanks, I choose life *rawrrr*

I agree with Captain. We should get the hell out of here. Whether or not Skaagenrackner faces the enemy and with what results is not our concern (at least as soon as we're gone). I don't fear for the Elder' safety, though *woof*

To this Tree place, with haste!

@Wolf Rawrrr Thanks for the reminder about Wolf's message. I meant to post about it, but forgot. Whoops! This is why I am not one of those who says, "I will never make that mistake again." I cannot make such a guarantee! Hah! =)

@Wolf Rawrrr Does Wolf choose to take up the Daughters' offer?

At this stage, the Wanderers can leave the Daughters' here or take them with you for a short while. They'll likely have to be coaxed to open up to any non-forest-friends (except for Otiorin).

Well, it is a couple of pages back and only briefly-mentioned. Dannigan sez,

One of the girls proudly places one hand on her slender hip and a thumb pointing at her smiling face. The other two pose similarly. "We're the Daughters of Summertime!" "We're really smart!" "We know all kinds of stuff about everything! Just ask!"
It's "my bad," really. I was hoping someone would ask for a Knowledge: Nature or Knowledge: Monster Lore on these three upon which the Wanderers learn that these particular woodland faeries are quite free with their knowledge (which they would gladly trade for wisdom - they are aware of their adolescent natures!).

Unfortunately, due to aforementioned circumstances... Dannigan sez,

"We don't talk to anyone who isn't first a forest-friend or a surface elf!"
Otiorin is a rare exception.

On another note entirely, there are now two more Vardadraug puppy pics on his post in the Non-Player Character area. Too... adorable... =)

How long do you require spellcasters to study before they can recover their spells? I seem to recall a number of one hour being bantered about, but I'm not sure if I remember that correctly.

One hour is correct for wizards and Wolf is free to memorize. =)

I am going to fast-forward an hour so folks can memorize for the day. =)

Thank you. I was waiting to post my new spell list until getting the ok.

Level 0 - Message, Mage Hand, Detect Magic, Ray of Frost

Level 1 - Shield x2, Enlarge Person x2, Unseen Servant, Gravity Bow

Level 2 - Extended Mage Armor, Scorching Ray x2, Blur

Level 3 - Haste, Fireball, Flame Arrow

Level 4 - Extended Displacement, Ball Lightning

Is there going to be a new thread starting up soon, or are we continuing with the one we currently have?

Time for bed. Have a good night, Sherwood! =)

Subject: Sharseya as a Thread Roleplay game?

Heya folks!

I received a Conversation with Miz today and I wanted to have your input on the matter before deciding? Many of you were here playing long before Kaerri and I showed up, and you're pretty cool people, so I value your insight. What are your thoughts?

Hello Dannigan,

I am just here to offer you the opportunity to have Sharseya converted to a Thread Roleplay.

At the moment, your roleplay is a linear roleplay game which means its possible to merge the threads together into one Thread Roleplay game. This has several benefits: 1) you will be on the man index of the site, 2) you can get noticed by new users, 3) you do not have to worry about activity/archiving.

You can see an example of a thread roleplay with various tabs here - https://www.rpnation.com/threads/blood-and-glory.74959/

You can also see the different tabs you can request in the drop-down list found on this application:https://www.rpnation.com/forms/request-new-tabs.5/respond

We hope you consider this offer and we would be glad to help you in any way in the conversion process. We do not expect your game to take any work and a moderator could convert the game entirely probably within under an hour (probably even less than that).

The plan for conversion for your game is below:

MAIN FORUM

Chapter Four: Enlightenment and the Daughters of Summertime - In-Character Roleplay 1 Tab *

At the Adventurer's Table - OOC Tab

"Shop Talk" - Mechanics Tab

RP Points - Updates Tab

ARCHIVE

Chapter Three: Vardadraug and the Cosmic Ore --> In-Character Roleplay 1 Tab *

Chapter Two: Bilal's Menagerie --> In-Character Roleplay 1 Tab *

Chapter One: The Road of Kings --> In-Character Roleplay 1 Tab *

LORE FORUM

The War for Highwind - Lore Tab

Dragons in Sharseya - Lore Tab

Deities of Sharseya - Lore Tab

How Common are spellcasters on Sharseya - Lore Tab

Non-Player Characters

All Threads -> NPC Tab

PLAYER CHARACTERS

All Threads -> Character Sign-Up

NOTES

[*]Chapters can be divided by headers and linked in the first post in the In-Character Roleplay Tab via Table of Contents that the moderator can make.

In Total You would have:

  1. In-Character Tab,
  2. OOC Tab
  3. NPC Tab
  4. Character-Sign Up Tab
  5. Lore Tab
  6. Mechanics Tab
  7. Updates Tab

Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to accept or refuse the offer.

Thanks,

RpN Administration

My vote thus far is "Sorry, but no."

The benefits are:

"1) you will be on the man index of the site, 2) you can get noticed by new users, 3) you do not have to worry about activity/archiving."

1. I would rather not be on RP Nation's main index. The more hidden Sharseya is, the happier Dannigan I am. I wish I could make this game read-only-if-you've-been-invited-to-it...

2. I have no desire to be noticed by new users for reasons I think each of you are already familiar with.

3. Activity and archiving hasn't been a problem so far...

But the disadvantages follow. I like the way Sharseya is currently set up. =) To throw all four chapters (and future chapters) into one tab sounds... well... I don't like the sound of it. That's a tremendous amount of information to put into a single tab, and looking for things is going to be tougher, not easier, for this storyteller.

This style of RP may be easier on the website or something, but not at the cost of the above. However, I'm trying to be open-minded about this and well, maybe you guys have a take on Thread Roleplay that I don't? Are there some benefits I'm missing? Have I overlooked something? What say you?

I have games on this forum that fit both the old format and the new thread roleplay. I personally prefer the ability to be able to split the party into two different threads, to be able to archive old threads, and to have a separate thread for each character. But, if I have a need for site support, the old format is not going to be supported as well as the new thread roleplays are. Overall, the thread roleplays work, but I would prefer the old format.

As a nominal member of staff, I will have to stand back from any discussion regarding converting the game to a tabbed thread, though I will abide by any decision made by you.

Captain Hesperus

I'm against it. There are people out there that can be decidedly Un-Fluffy!

Um Otiorin is Otto, in case your wondering. It's not meant as disrespect it's how I think of the characters. I give em Nicknames, and stuff.

@Captain Hesperus May I get a Perception check for Otiorin when you have the time?

To Killfire. When I first saw "Otto," I couldn't help but think, "Who is Otto?" After a few minutes, I got it. =)

Oti's Perception check: +11 = (+0) +1 +3 Class +7 misc

Nay *woof*

The thread roleplays are inferior in every single way to forum roleplays. Once fit only for the simple, casual games their usefulness was somewhat improved when the tabs were added, making it possible to go beyond IC/OOC format. This is the way most RP communities do it, and Wayward Inn, RPdom, RPZone, RPNation stood out of the crowd thanks to the forum roleplay format and great Staff, which is what drew in new members. But after merging with a few other communities the resulting site got too big for manual management so a custom automatic system was put into place for forum RPs. This was working great until the said system turned out defective and got chucked, and it was deemed that a replacement was now too expensive. So then suddenly the forum RPs are no longer supported, branded legacy - the very thing that made this place special - and all games must either switch to the inferior and utterly-inadequate-for-any-complex game thread system or remain as a forum RP game but lose all official support.

I know everyone here knows the story, but I scribbled it here to point out why the only advantage of the thread system - support - exists in the first place.

For a game like Sharseya, which does not care about support, there are exactly 0 benefits in the deal. The facts speak for themselves. I myself would never do it, was never interested in thread RPs before and certainly am not now. In fact I probably wouldn't still be here if I weren't engaged in Sharseya and Amaranth at the time when things went south - Wiz's promise that something was in the works came much later and is now the third thing that keeps me hopeful *howl*

Heya, folks!

The votes are in and the ayes have it! Just kidding! 8D *prepares to get beaten by fluffy pillows or 'worse"* Ha ha ha! =)

Seriously, I've replied to good ol' Miz and you can see that in the spoiler below. A special thanks goes out to Cap'n for supporting whatever direction we chose while also being the honorable fellow that he is as part of the RP Nation crew. =)

Heya Miz!

The votes are in on my team and no one wants Sharseya to be converted to Thread Role-play. Sorry!

Concerning the aforementioned benefits,

1) you will be on the man index of the site, 2) you can get noticed by new users, 3) you do not have to worry about activity/archiving.
1. I don't want for Sharseya to be on the Main Index of the site. The world, the story, the characters, if there were a way to keep it all closed, I would. I don't want people I don't know possibly taking something special of mine and calling it their own. Sharseya is a world that's over 15 Real Life years old and it contains a tremendous amount of sentimental value.

2. I hand-picked these players (3 of whom I know in Real Life) and I'd rather not have any other players in this game at this time. If we did want someone, I would likely ask from within our circle. The idea of having strangers from outside that circle noticing and applying is a turn-off.

3. We don't seem to be having any activity or archiving issues at this time. After examining the information you thoughtfully provided, I also feel that going to Thread Role-play would make some things in our game very difficult to find. If memory serves, this style of role-play is not supported (something about the fellow who made it took off?).

We are unanimously-willing to take chances with our current style of role-play (we really enjoy it that much!).

But hey, thanks for the offer and for showing what a Thread Role-play looks like. Your request could not have been better-explained and your example provided a clear vision of the difference. Do you have any questions you'd like to put my way?

Happy gaming! =)

Honor and fun,

Dann =)

P.S. I will get to the results of Otiorin's Perception roll later tonight (I hope). Have fun and be safe, everyone! =)

EDIT: I forgot to mention - I have Kaerri's vote on this too and *no one* here voted for it (hence the funny, "the ayes have it!" =) ).

Aye, he had Kaerri's "Nay" last night, she just didn't post anything. Lazy Kaerri. (Just kidding; Dann hadn't posted before I went to bed, and I didn't have time this morning before work - but he knew my opinion, all the same.)
