I've seen the Dungeons and Dragons trailer before, but not the other stuff. I was looking for a big, scarred cat-like warrior but I missed it... Either way, cool music! =)

In other news, did you guys see what Cap'n just rolled in-game? What is that, Cap'n, the second time you've rolled a Natural 20 since we started the game over a year and a half ago? =)

I know, it looks like I'm on a roll but I'm waiting for the Critical Fumble that's just around the corner....

Is Neverwinter's intro movie, I think. I love the rogue-ness :D

And now it's stuck in my head too. Thanks Cap'n!

Everyone, I have to give dann props for running a good game. Every other game that I have joined except for this one has died out on me with a quickness. It is quite frustrating to see it happen, but I'm thankful that this game still lives!

Oh my gosh, Sherwood. I'm sorry to hear that. But, yes, I have no intentions of putting Sharseya down. I'm just darned glad to have chosen the right players to game with in the first place. I knew each of you were cool in one way or another. Being here in Sharseya a year and a half later just proves it. =)

I once wrote/commented an article somewhere here about games dying out - basically in my opinion it comes down to people being irresponsible and not approaching games with the right attitude. You have to accept that your experience in the game won't be at 100% all the time. Like life, it's going to have its ups and downs. You shouldn't quit upon hitting the first bump in the road. That said, yes, the Storyteller has most impact on everything and it is their responsibility to keep things going, but sometimes there is nothing they can do.

Especially when dealing with people who never had a real intention of finishing the game, even if they thought they did. Many, if not most people here (sadly) join games on a whim, play for a few weeks - and then desert them on a similar whim. And then there's some who seem to enjoy creating characters more than actually playing, so their playing doesn't amount to much either.

As with everything that involves people, if you want stuff to succeed you need the right people for the task. And there's precious few of those. It's like employment in real life - sure there's tons of workers out there, which is why employers think they can afford to abuse them, not pay them on time, etc. - after all, "if you don't like it, get lost because there's others who will do it". What they are forgetting is what inevitably proves to be their downfall - it's easy to find workers, but hard to find good workers. One of the latter can easily be worth a hundred of the former.

Here's an idea: We could italicize spoken dialogue when it's in another language (not Common). You know, to help us notice the distinction.

On second thought, I think Captain already does this *woof*

That makes sense. English does that for non-English words, usually (unless it's moved into such general use people forget).

As long as it's clear what is being spoken and in which language, I don't mind which method is used. =)

Re: In-character. I am just waiting on a bit of feedback prior to moving the scene forward. =)

How obvious is it when a wizard casts a spell? Can it be done in a subtle way to avoid being noticed by a bunch of elves aiming arrows at you?

I don't think so, unless you've got the Still Spell metamagic feat. I expect they're paying pretty close attention to us.

I didn't think I could get away with a spell, but it was worth asking.

It takes six seconds to cast most spells. All spells use verbal, somatic, or material components (some use all), any of which might give one away. Thus, very few spells can be cast without notice (and it takes more than the Still Spell feat unless your spell has only somatic components). Add in the fact that elves are among the oldest and most-perceptive of two-legged races, they are watching you with possibly hostile intent, in a situation where they have a natural advantage, and Luna is just asking to get caught.

Never hurts to ask, though. I will attempt to post later today. =)

Folks, while I definitely like and appreciate the quality of role-playing that was just written in-character tonight, please give Wolf a chance to catch up and post. =)

After he does, I'll post again. =)

That's okay, I'm at university today, which is like a 3-hour round trip and who knows how long there, so I won't be posting the rest of the day.

No worries. I'm just having a great time with this game, and there are times its it's hard to wait for everyone else to post, too.

This might be the chance I've been waiting for to try out my new spells.

That is completely up to you. A good Dungeon Master does not interfere with such decisions. =)

I think perhaps it's apt, that when I just made that post a flurry of snow started to fall outside my window.

I see this as portentous.

Or maybe that's just me...

Sooo... Ya'll think we're tough enough to do this? I mean, we can't just let Otiorin walk off into the dark to get killed and it doesn't look like the enemy is going to step forth after all.

I'd try a mighty fireball in their general direction but we all remember what happened the last time when Luna played with fire in the forest... *woof*
