Too true, Sherwood.

A guy has to ask - Is Luna enjoying the sight of Otiorin in the near-buff? *starts playing Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff"* Ha ha! =)

Re: Posting. Cool! Thanks!

Luna is terribly embarrassed and interested all at the same time. But, her focus is still on her boyfriend, wondering what he would look like nekkid. Wait; did I type that out loud? Teehee! <blush>

Now, first off, have we completed the training to level 8 yet, and second, is it the start of a new day? I am wondering if I need to pick out my daily allotment of spells, or just go with what I have memorized from before getting beaten up by the Dire Wolf.

Not exactly. The Wanderers are having lunch in the dining room right now. Training happens in-character (just like it did when you were with Travis's Trainers, remember?). As he stated earlier, Glider has offered to train the team after lunch.

This way, the half of our crew that is still somewhat new to Pathfinder (Wolf, Cap'n) get to ask and learn all they need to in and out of character. It is also an opportunity to develop team-building skills as PCs get to provide whatever advice they will to one another. Lastly, its an excellent opportunity to RP in general; aren't you interested how one monk is going to somehow train a ranger, wizard, healer, fighter/ranger, and rogue/sorcerer? I'm sure someone is. =)

As for the time... it's still lunchtime; early afternoon (as listed in the last Location, Time, and Weather block in Chapter Seven). I'll put another such block in when a significant amount of time has passed.

Location: Inside the Wanderers' Wagon on The Road of Kings (5 days north of Summerset)

Travel time to Highwind: On day 5 of 14.

Travel time to Melshaef's Tree: On day 3 of 3.

Saturday, September 20th, 1118. Time: 1:30 p.m.

Weather: This.

As for Luna and Wolf, a good Dungeon Master catapults them both butt-naked into the Grand Pool to fend for themselves lets player-characters do what they will in such matters. =)

I was just making sure I was on top of the timeline here. Not a problem.

Re: Teehee

I've always wondered how that actually sounds. It's not like

is it? No, it's probably one of

... But which one? Americans... *woof*
In all seriousness, though, you wouldn't actually say "teehee" would you? In my country such a giggling sound is spelled "hihihi" but bear in mind that Croatian is perfectly phonetic, which means pronounciation always matches the spelling (polar opposite from English, French, etc.), so that would amount to "heeheehee" in English (not "hi hi hi" as if you were repeatedly saying hello). And isn't that more correct? I don't think the letter T is vocally heard in any form of human laughter.

I bet Americans are the only ones who say "teehee" anyway *woof*

And it just occurred to me that the reason why this RP isn't like the others; why it's full of good roleplaying and all that, is because everyone except me is likely older than 35.

Just slightly older than 35; I'm 44. Some days I feel much older.

It's onomatopoeia (yay big word!), meaning it's a word meant to represent a sound; in this case, giggling. One doesn't usually say it out loud as an actual word except for fun, like saying "L-O-L" instead of laughing. (Or sarcasm, but that's not the case here.) Laughing is usually written as "hee hee," like you said, or equally often as "ha ha," though personally I tend towards "hehe" with more "hes" for more laughs. It seems to be English in general (the dictionary entry I found referenced Chaucer, who lived in England in the late 1300s), but possibly it's used more by Americans nowadays than other English-speakers.

That might sound more serious than I actually took it, or maybe just more pretentious. I just love etymology (^.^)

Updated Wolf's character sheet.

- Spent my 8 ranks to give one point each to Climb, Know (Geography), Know (Nature), Know (Monster), Linguistics, Perception, Stealth, Survival.

- Spent 1 attribute point on Dexterity. Updated all dependencies.

- New learned language Celestial as agreed.

- New favored terrain is Cold. I understand that's in general? I don't have to narrow it down like with some other terrains, right?

- Added my wolf stats to the appropriate tab for my own reference.

- And all the rest according to my list on the previous page.

I was wanting to make up a few level 1 scrolls to be able to use. At the cost of 12.5 gp each, can I add two Gravity Bow and two Shield scrolls to my equipment during some down time? It shouldn't take long for me to be able to whip them out, since they are low level spells.

Another question: when we start to train for level 8, can I retrain one of my Feats? I have been doing some reading up on the costs of making wands, and want to switch my main weapon to a Wand of Magic Missiles, but I need to get the Craft Wand Feat first. To me it makes more sense for Luna to attack targets with magic than with her crossbow.

Here is a wild thought: a wand or rod made with the prismalcum (or however you spell that stuff). I wonder what would happen with that?

@Wolf Rawrrr. Cold covers ice, glaciers, snow, and tundra (per Pathfinder Core Book pg 65). I don't know how often the Wanderers will be getting into that sort of thing (as that climate is found north of Highwind in the Frozen Reaches where tribes and tribes of Norse barbarians of many kinds battle and thrive). Bren has been up there a few times. @Kaerri can tell you how hard those dang Frost Giants hit, right darlin'?. =)

@Sherwood. Re: Scribing scrolls. So, if you want to spend 12.5 gold per scroll, I take it you want Luna to cast them at only 1st level ability and not 8th? Remember that minimum price assumes minimum caster level. If so, such scrolls should take 2 hours each to complete. This article may help. Downtime should start to come on the next in-game day (today is full).

Re: Retraining. I certainly don't have a problem with it but it looks like it's a 400 gold piece charge plus 8 hours a day for 5 days. See the Pathfinder Retraining rules here. After the training on the 5th day, Luna can start crafting her first wand. If that sounds like a chore, then get your butts straight to Highwind and get to questing for good loot. =)

Re: Prismalcum items (you spell it right). Wish I could tell you, but I just work here. =)

You are correct about the scrolls; I want them only at a first level proficiency, not at 8th. Also, I'll dock Luna the 400 gold for training in the Craft Wand Feat, and once the five days are up, I'll start working on my first wand.

Also, I've been thinking about our next Signature Ability (whenever that comes up), and had a thought; some level of fire immunity. I'm not talking about being able to shrug off a 10d6 Fireball with no ill effects, but like the Resist Energy spell, perhaps knock off the first ten points of any fire damage done? Would that be a fair amount, giving me some effect, but not alter the game balance?

BTW, the first one that makes a bad Harry Potter reference to Luna once I get my wand made is going to get nailed by it! (} :) )

What about a good Harry Potter reference? ( :P )

Past history of my characters' travels in Sharseya suggests that anything is possible. ( ;) ) Whether we intend to go somewhere sometimes has very little to do with it! I think Cold is a good choice, myself. The area around Highwind is mostly forest, which you have already, and if we leave that area, we're as likely to go north as any other direction, without some specific future quest in mind.

Signature Abilities... are a culmination of a character's skills, talents, and things the character has a penchant for. I take into account the overall character level, previous Signature Abilities, and (here's a big one) what that character practices (notice I didn't say "What they like..." but what they're naturally good at or have become good at).

I can see someone like Luna having Fire Resistance 5 (or maybe 10 down the road at the cost of one Signature Ability) if she starts working towards it. True, Luna has a natural influence and talent with that most unpredictable of elements, but up until this point her use of fire magic has been totally offensive in nature. As far as I can remember, she hasn't taken fire damage since we started the game (has she?). So why would she have a resistance toward it? That's kind of like giving Bria a bonus to damage. =)

I going to think out loud here. Wolf has a lifelong love of nature and its creatures. I felt it was only natural for him to have Speak with Animals at will. Same goes for Sabrefang. Same goes for Powerpaw's Immunity to Fear. It's something that's clearly and naturally part of that character. It makes sense for them to have (or earn).

Allow me to bring up an NPC I've had around for a few years. The character was burned horribly as a child (and worse), yet survived. As a result, he had a terrible phobia of fire. However, the right people took him in and as his growing years went by, he was taught the secrets of fire by those who took him in. He learned so much about what flame could and could not do (with the intent of losing his phobia and fortifying himself against flame) that he became fire-resistant at first, more fire-resistant later, and now, finally, after long years of practice, dedication, and sacrifice, he's only one of two characters in my entire game who has become completely immune to fire damage of any kind (magical or otherwise). He spent, if memory serves, three separate Signature Ability "slots" (if you like the term) and many, many burns making this reality. While he can still be blinded by a fire's light and is still subject to injury and death from smoke inhalation, etc., he can walk right through a Wall of Fire and take no damage.

And I think that's worth what he put into it. =)

(Still waking up here)

I just noticed the four Likes on Chapter Eight (#17) from all of you guys.

Thanks! That makes my day! =)

I get your reasoning totally about Luna having fire resistance. It was an idea that I just wanted to toss past you.

Thank you for such an elaborate and inspiring explanation, Dann. It got me thinking in-depth about Wolf's unused ability again. I think I might have something soon *woof*

I'm glad to hear it, Wolf! I was pretty tired from work when I wrote it, but I wanted to get it out of my mind (and therefore sleep better). Looking back, I'm glad I did; I clearly wasn't the only one who enjoyed that scene. =)

Speaking of scenes... Wolf and Luna are welcome to disappear together to do whatever they're going to do. However, the rest of the Wanderers are still on this Railroad I've put you on. They are going to learn and enjoy things Wolf and Luna are about to miss. I'm not trying to restrict you guys in what you want to do (because it's your game too), but if I don't get these scenes out of the way, they won't get done. Hence the Railroad.

So I leave it up to Wolf and Sherwood if they want Leonard and Luna to continue to hang out a little while longer or vanish. As for the rest of the Wanderers (PCs and NPCS), we've got about two more "stops" and then you're welcome to do whatever you want, armed with what the Railroad is delivering your way.

Until then, choo choo!

Elsewhere on RpN, I saw something similar to this in reference to Fallout 4's hype train, and when I saw it, I literally laughed out loud! For minutes!

I could not believe someone put something like that together! It's outrageous! The player who posted it (if memory serves) added something like, "This thing ain't got no brakes!" Ha ha ha ha! =)

No, I... I thought that was it lol. You made it sound very final. I thought we arrived to the last stop :/

Am I the only one who got the wrong impression? I don't wanna miss out on anything (Luna or training) *woof*

Oh! My pardon. I didn't mean to give that impression. =) I'll let everyone know either here or in spoiler when the Railroad has finally reached its destination. =)
