At the Adventurers' Table: Chapter Eleven

Okies, just a heads-up for everyone! The Sharseya Express is still a'huffin' an' a puffin' down the track as I continue to railroad you guys. =)

Here's what I need from folks to continue chuggin' along, please:
1. Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus I need the answers to the questions in the posts above. Otherwise, we can't enter combat fairly (in other words, I don't want to have Otiorin as an 8th level character in a 10th level fight - he, and you, deserve better!). Again, let me know how I can help?

2. Wolf Rawrrr Wolf Rawrrr Wolf! Thanks again for your help with Cap'n's character sheet! You have made this process a lot smoother than it would have been without you! Please add 2 bonus Action Points to Nivirea's character sheet as a little token of my appreciation. Remember, unlike normal Action Points, bonus Action Points do not expire or get reset with character level training. They're yours to use should you run out of your normal Action Points. =)

3. Sherwood Sherwood Concerning Luna's Wand of Scorching Ray, on your character sheet, it states "Fires 3 Rays that do 4d6 damage each..." The spell's description states, "You may fire one ray, plus one additional ray for every four levels beyond 3rd (to a maximum of three rays at 11th level)." Luna made the wand at 10th level. That means the wand fires a maximum of two rays, doesn't it?

Also, concerning spell memorization, did you change Luna's spells for the day or is he keeping the ones he has?

4. Kaerri Kaerri Same as Sherwood. Concerning spell memorization, did you change Bren's spells for the day or is he keeping the ones he has?

5. Psychie Psychie Hi! I don't really have anything for you except for what's in our Conversation with Kaerri. I just didn't want to peg everyone else and not you. So.... hi! =)

Things on my plate include:
1. Introducing Oreleth into the game.
2. Ben & Misha's magic shop. Note for everyone - normal items can still be purchased at the costs straight out of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. You can find that online here (scroll to near the bottom of the page for prices on most mundane gear). Magical items will have their own costs (and the list of available items and their prices will be available at their store).
3. Healer 2.0. I've been at this rework for months and I think I've finally bolted down where I want the class as a whole to go. However, if Bria gets killed, I'll be pissed (as she is the last Healer alive). Still, the Healer class is in dire need of a major rework and it will be finished prior to your first combat. =)
4. Continuing to make the Troubled Temple of Tapio dungeon. 'Nuff said. =)
5. Balancing out the items Bren and the Light in the Dark earned and what is and is not available at 10th level. =)
6. More behind-the-scenes things I really shouldn't type here.

Hope you guys and gals are having a great day! =)

I must have had a brain hiccup somewhere, thinking for some reason I was level 11, not just 10th. I am sure you are correct, but let me double check the spell. Even so, being able to fire two rays for 8d6 damage is respectable, especially since it doesn't touch my memorized spells.

Just to be clear - that's two rays at 4d6 damage each, each requiring their own successful ranged touch attack. They can nail different targets as long as they're within 30 feet of each other.

I looked over my sheet, and I had misprinted the spell on it to show the 'max of three rays at 9th level', thus the source of my confusion. After looking at my copy of the PDF, I can confirm that you are right with the 11th level reference. I fixed the line on my sheet.

BTW, do you want me to post Luna's current spell memorizations here or in IC?

Bren's list of spells is good for today.

Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus Cap'n, please bring me up-to-date here.

1. Did Otiorin train for 10th level. The last time I remember him training was for 8th level.
2. Are you happy playing him as a rogue/sorcerer?
2a. If so, are you also all right with his current levels in each class?

I am asking because the timing in the game is right if you wanted to make any major changes to him (Mielikki is here and willing to help after all).

3. Also, I will go through your character sheet again to make certain the numbers are correct. After a short glance, I noticed Oti's gold seems to be his starting gold. That can't be his current amount. Do you agree?
1. I don't remember leveling up since 8th, so hmmm.
2. Yes.
2a. Yes.
3. Yes.

Cap'n, so what's next? Looks like Otiorin needs two levels brought his way. How do you want to distribute them?

Sherwood, that depends. Above all, I want you and me to be able to keep it all straight. The way you've been doing it is fine. Keeping it in IC-spoilers works well for me (along with spell effects like Extended Mage Armor II, and its duration). Does that work for you too?

Kaerri, thanks for the update! =)

Gotcha. I'll go ahead and have my Extended Mage Armor II cast. That puts my AC at 24 before any other spell effects.

Considering much of the party have some spell-casting ability, 'represent' is not so much of a thing. And as for Otiorin's money situation, I'm going to take the suggestion that was previously put forward and commission a high-quality portable altar for the Wild Elves.

Captain Hesperus

Oh boy, bonus points! *drool*

:P

So where are we right now? Waiting for the next railroad post before we can reply, or...?

Well, I say if your character has something to say at this point, this is a good time. I'm just waiting to hammer out a few more details in Conversation to get Oreleth in here.

Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus O.K.! I am rolling two (blue) d6s here for those hit points... Oooh. Snake-eyes... Glad we reroll 1s in Sharseya, aren't you? =)

Trying again. 3 + 5 for a total of 8. Plus Otiroin's CON bonus and his skill point/hit point bonus if he chooses to apply them the latter way.

Re: High-quality portable shrine. Sounds very thoughtful! So how is Otiorin going to go about making that happen? Perhaps the Wayward Wanderers want to discuss that while we wait for Oreleth's introduction?

Also, Cap'n, please provide your selections concerning Oti's new levels. Things like new Feats chosen, new spells, any new Sorcerer abilities, etc. =)

As for everybody else in the party, this is probably a good time to bring to the party's attention any other things you want your character to do prior to leaving Highwind. =)

Whew! So...

The colors in XenForo 2.0 have changed drastically and for my own posts I may just stick with one color for all things. I certainly don't want to have to copy/paste color codes every time an NPC of mine says something.

Just a little heads-up, friends. =)

A quick question about the Signature Abilities. I notice that most of the characters except for Nivirea and Oreleth have two. Is that something that came up at level 10 for everyone?

I personally don't remember which level we were at when we got the second one, but it was before 10th. I would have to turn this over to Dann for his ruling.

It was an event, not a level requirement. The Wayward Wanderers (when Leonard Wolf was in the gang) gained a Signature Ability early on when they came across the prismalcum ore that had fallen from the heavens. There are things one can do in-game to gain more Signature Abilities (hint: As you can easily figure, simply training and purchasing gear inside the relatively safe walls of Highwind is not one of them. Hee hee!). =)

In our tabletop games, my SIgnature Abilities were indeed gained at certain levels, but in Sharseya Online here on RP Nation, I decided to make them a special something PCs gained in-game. Besides, most of the PCs had quite a time just deciding on one that would fit their characters just right. =)

A question about how my ability to cast a spell into one of my arrows as I fire. In a normal round, I can fire four shots from my various Feats and having a high Base Attack Bonus. Lets say I want to cast Shocking Grasp into an arrow. I know that is only in effect for one arrow, but do I still have the multiple shots per round, or does that drop my attacks to a single arrow fired? I don't want to say I cast a spell and think that I can lob a bunch of projectiles at once if it limits me.

If memory serves, an Arcane Archer can cast and fire that spell-imbued arrow once per round (casting a spell is typically one's entire standard action for the round).

When I get home, I can look into my copy of the Pathfinder Core Book and know for certain. =)
