I am much more fierce than a cute little kitten! <stomps her foot and plants her hands on her hips> Quit laughing! I'm being scary!

I'm being scary!

Glad you told us! 8D

In a live combat throwing Fireballs and Force Missiles? Yes! Quite scary! In a wrestling match with Bria? I'm just not convinced! Ha ha! =)

In a straight up fight, yes, Luna is quite scary. In a wrestling match against a monk? Not so much.

Merry Christmas, everybody! Hope you're having a safe and fun holiday! =)

Heya friends! I will post sometime later today (Real Life allowing). =)

Captain Hesperus Captain Hesperus Hey Cap'n! Heads up! *motions to the latest in-game post* =)

Psychie Psychie I haven't forgotten about you or your elfie archer, but I think I'm going to make a change to get you into the game sooner. =)

Can't say I blame you. This is a fun setting, and the upcoming dungeon crawl sounds like it will be exciting.

Luna laughs. "At least it wasn't Sparkle versus Powerpaw! Now that would have been a real funny joke! There is no way that the big kitty could take on my Sparkle! Isn't that right, dear one?"

Sherwood, I have to thank you for having Luna "distract" Sparkle from Oscar. =) Draconic pride is as much a constant of the universe as space and time and Sparkle's, once riled, does not easily dissipate. Such a dragon she is. =)

Young Sparkle. =)

It's an hour away here, but... here's wishing you and yours a Happy New 2018 and beyond! Make it a good one, everybody! =)

Heya guys and gals! I'm still on a 6-day workweek here so my responses will likely be delayed. I'll likely be on a normal schedule again next week? Time will tell. Until then, have fun, friends! =)

Wolf Rawrrr Wolf Rawrrr Heya Wolf! Do you want any help figuring out what went wrong with Nivirea's spell or have you figured it out already? =)

No, I only just read it. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes of successfully evading Mamapaw in the first place. There's just virtually nothing Nivirea could do in such a situation, under such conditions.

That said, I can think of only one reason why nothing happened in the end: it's because of your chosen interpretation of the two spells, or better said their interaction. Before posting, I did a wide search of Pathfinder forums to see how other DMs resolved the casting of Mirror Image while under effects of Invisibility - and while it always ultimately came down to "whatever you as the DM want" - the general consensus seemed to have been that copies made of an invisible person would be visible after all; the reasoning being that the copies should look like the target, and the target's invisibility isn't a part of their looks but a temporary effect. I guess you're one of the DMs that employ the opposite logic.

I was going to ask you beforehand, but I did always favour the empirical approach *woof*

p.s. mmmm, extra lovely Nivireas <3 *rawrrr*

Wolf, you mean to say that there are a lot of online debates about this? Huh! I thought the spell's description said it all. Mirror Image.

The last paragraph states: "If you are invisible or the attacker is blind, the spell has no effect (although the normal miss chances still apply)."

Any changes to spells will be found in Shop Talk.

That said, if anyone here has questions of any kind, please ask me either in OOC or in Conversation (whatever your preference). I think every game of Dungeons & Dragons is as different and varied as the people rolling the dice.

So when in doubt, ask away, friends! That is what your Dungeon Master is here for! =)

Oh, and I find nothing wrong with a small multitude of Nivireas either; what typical guy is going to have a problem with that image? =)

Huh. I missed that.

And sure, there's debates. But I don't remember anyone quoting that. Weird.

Though in all fairness, it is a bit misleading... I mean, why should my spell have no effect if the attacker is blind? This would lead you to think that the spell did nothing, when in truth the spell worked; mirror images were created - it's just that the attacker is blind and cannot see them. There's a big difference between that and no effect.

Because if this part of the rule is faulty, then it should follow that the first one is as well. In other words, there are now invisible Nivireas groping Bren and Otiorin! :3

Ha ha ha! Run, Bren! Run, Oti! The Invisible Magic Nivi Team is coming to get you!

Wolf, you are hilarious! I love it! =)

Oh noes! :O

Probably the debates are from an earlier version? D&D 3rd edition had the original release, now called 3.0, and then an updated release, now called 3.5. (Collectively, D&D 3rd edition is known as 3.x.) We're actually using Pathfinder rules, which are based on 3.5 but with a lot of improvements - many of which are probably the result of debates like that.

Also, "no effect" could just mean "no effect on that particular person," which is true enough. The spell still has an effect of course, just not on the blind.

I agree that Paizo could have worded the explanation to be a little more clear. You also bring up an excellent point - in the presence of a blind person, the spell simply fails? That makes no sense.

So... when Real Life allows me today, I will update Shop Talk to reflect the following:

1. The spell has no effect on those who cannot see it (including those, say, in a pitch-black room).
2. If the caster is invisible, the spell has no effect and is wasted if cast.

Real Life has been full recently. Hope to post tomorrow. Until then, stay safe and comfortable! =)

Shop Talk's "House Rule: Temporal Stasis (also known as "T.S.") - All players please read this." has been adjusted and moved to the top of the Shop Talk rule changes. The Mirror Image spell in "Changes to Allowed Spells" has been updated.

I wasn't kidding when I said the spell ought to create invisible copies when used on an invisible target, by the way. I'd like to know what's your reasoning that it should simply fail *woof*

Is the change to temporal stasis that characters get XP while away now? Because if I recall correctly, it used to state that they don't, which I resented ever since I made a new character. From a logical point of view, it should matter what the character is doing all the time away. If they are literally resting or recovering, being idle, that would be one thing - but if they're away on a mission or just generic adventuring, it would make sense that they are improving themselves (even if they get reduced XP). It'd be different if they were literally frozen in time or something, aka in stasis, but that's not the case here.

I know that I'm the new guy here, but if I may offer my thoughts on the subject?

I would think that trying to make an image of something that is invisible is like trying to see a black hole; you can either have Mirror Image up, or be Invisible but not both.
