Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"We never did finish the riding harness, did we?", Anna asked as she looked over at Roan struggling with the hides. Now that she put thought to it again, all they'd really accomplished before the bottom fell out of the clouds was tie Anna up in hide straps that vaguely resembled leggings if you squinted at it.

"No, we really didn't," Roan said as he braided leather straps together to make up a secure cross where the straps would hold the person inside, "Come here."

Anna looked back at the forge and checked that it had fuel and wouldn't die out when she turned around. Somehow all the crafting tools regulated themselves without human intervention once they had instructions, so Anna was pretty sure it would keep going without her as she stepped away. "Alright, what am I doing?"

"Just stand there and look pretty," Roan chuckled, "I'll handle the rest."

He moved to swing the harness around her, pulling her a little closer with it. He smirked a bit and let out a soft chuckle before placing a kiss on her cheek and getting to work. For the time being the harness only tied together, "Let me know if it's too tight"

Anna wasn't sure if she should have been upset or not that she'd been called over to take up space and be looked at, especially when there was other stuff to be done. "If you wanted pretty, I can go get Vera," Anna grumbled a bit as she assumed the position. She didn't argue as much as she had been, though, trying to make an effort to get along.

She was caught a bit off guard when she was pulled by the harness. Red rose in her cheeks as she began to realize what was going on. He was trying to be more in charge! Should she say something, nudge him in a less awkward direction? But that might push him back... and she didn't want to steal his thunder when all he was doing was what she asked. "It's a bit tight around my hips," she said as a knot prodded into her side.

Roan nodded and loosened the harness as he continued, "I know. I'm not good at this.. but I'm trying."

He hummed and finished tying off thw straps he had made for the thighs and looked her over. Something in his mind flashed in appreciation for the sight of Anna covered in.. well.. straps and rope, "Gorgeous.."

Anna raised an eyebrow at the comment and looked down at how she was wrapped from the waist down. "If you say so..." She didn't really see what his point was, but having knots dig into you in places might have soured for Anna whatever image Roan was seeing.

Roan stood for a moment, his mind wandering curiously, "Well, how does it feel?" Should I adjust it? I mean it needs to be snug, but is there anywhere that's hurting you?"

It was definitely snug, Anna gave him that. It didn't even feel like she'd be able to move her legs very far out of the position the harness forced them into. "I think when the implants make it it'll be less awkward," Anna offered.

"Good point," he agreed, "But otherwise it's fine?"

He moved back to begin untying the harness from Anna, "I was thinking, we could take some metal and begin making something to adjust the harness manually, like a buckle or a clasp or something."

"It does the job," that was what was important, wasn't it? "I think buckles are a good idea, though." Never knew when someone else would be using your bird, so your harness needed to be adjustable to different sizes.

Roan nodded and stood once more, "I'll see if Vera can't help me design a good buckle then. And then with your help we can make it."

He gave a small smile and threw the harness over his shoulder to carry it, "You're so pretty."

Anna crossed her arms and pouted a bit when Roan called her pretty again. "Do you need your eyes checked?"

"Got the keratin for a couple saddles," Jack said, depositing the bundles of horn and bone in the smithy for Anna to work with.

"Nope, my eye sight is just fine." Roan chuckled, "You're cute when you pout like that. "

He looked over at Jack and nodded a thanks before returning his attention to Anna, "You're pretty. Whether you see it or not."

Jack decided not to get in the middle of that and went to go find Vera. They had no shortage of meat or hide right now, but flint, stone, thatch, wood, and fiber were less plentiful. Metal was a non-entity with the anky, if they could figure it out safely. So building materials was what he turned his attention to. "Have fun, you two." he waved as he walked off.

"You keep saying that," Anna muttered, "But Vera got the good looks." Just like Jack got all the muscles, and the big brains were divided between them, and Roan got all the animal skills.

"You really don't know how beautiful you are to me," He said as he put a hand on her hip, "Sure she's pretty, I guess, but I dont really find her thst attractive. But look at you. You're stunning. And gorgeous. And just amazing in every way. You are so pretty. Especially to me."

"Roan..." Anna put a hand up to Roan's chest, "Please, I know what you're doing, but stop calling me pretty."

"I'm not going to stop," He said and wrapped his arms around Anna, "I'll never stop calling you pretty. Because you'll never not be pretty to me."

"Dammit, Roan!", Anna wormed her way out of Roan's arms to put some distance between them, "Stop calling me pretty! How many times do I gotta say it before you hear it?!"

"I could ask the same thing," he replied, "Why can't you see that? Why can't I proudly and happily call you pretty? Why won't you accept that compliment?"

"Because I don't like it!", Anna barked, "It's irritating! Vera probably likes being called pretty, I don't! Go tell her!"

"I dont want to tell her because she isn't pretty to me!" Roan retorted, "Damn it all! I just- nevermind.."

He sighed and rubbed his face, turning away from her. He silently willed for the giga to come for him again, "Forget I said anything."

"FINE THEN!", Anna shouted, turning away from Roan and contemplating how much sparkpowder it would take to make enough smoke she could vanish and go... elsewhere. She didn't know where she wanted to go, as long as it wasn't here. Why couldn't she just take compliments?

(Sorry for the long hiatus)

Roan sighed and shook his head, turning away from Anna. As he began to walk away, the man rubbed his face, "I'm so sick of this..."

Everyone in the group was sick of something, but as the day wore on, progress was being made. Resources were collected, things crafted, odds and ends done. Preserving bins were lined up, flint and stone ground into sparkpowder to run them.

Though there did seem to just be a cloud of tension whenever Roan and Anna were near each other. Jack and Vera could feel it, it was almost thick enough to cut through with a knife. That was probably a bad thing, Jack decided. Even though he'd fairly adamantly refused to be the leader, he didn't want half of the group at each other's throats.

"Think we should talk to them?", the large man asked Vera.
