Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Roan would probably be struggling to get fiber clothes off the same way, the way wet clothes clung to him, but it was like the hide was vacuum-sealed to his skin. "I think I've got, yeah," Anna scraped together the fiber she could in the small building to craft him some fiber pants, "Here." She handed them to him once he'd gotten out of his soggy leathers, trying not to look down.

"Maybe," Jack shrugged, "Speaking of hungry," he went back over to the fire to check if the meat had been burned.

"Thanks," Roan said as he put the new clothes on, "I dont think hide and water mix very well..."

"Don't you worry, Handsome, I'm watching the food." Vera giggled as she put some of the meat on a plate for him, "See?"

"Water and anything doesn't mix very well," Anna sighed. Water and gravity was keeping them inside. She looked at Roan, "I don't know what couples do." She shook her head.

"Well that was fast!", Jack chuckled. He smiled and put his arm around her in a one-armed hug. In that moment he decided: He was definitely building Vera a kitchen. He just had to figure out where to put it.

"Me either," Roan said. He fidgeted a bit, glancing at her, "I... have an idea.."

Vera smiled, making her own plate, "I wonder how the other two are. I mean.. I didnt see them when we came back.."

"Really?", Anna perked up, "What is it?"

Jack thought about it, "Knowing Anna, she's probably written her name in the wall with arrows." She didn't seem the type to just sit still. "Roan's probably trying to tame some moths, knowing him." He shrugged and smiled, "Once the rain stops, I think I'm going to work on covered walkways so we can check on each other during storms."

Roan looked at her, suddenly losing his nerve. If he tried it, would she hit him? He bit his lip, "Uhhh...."

"Good idea," Vera agreed, "That way we aren't just stuck inside."

Anna sighed. "What happened, Roan? Last night you were so... in charge." She'd never even heard him get upset before, but when he snapped at her he seemed so... in control of things.

Jack nodded, "It might take some moving of structures, though." Nothing was positioned in a way that would make that easy. "I'll have to start planning that out once I can get a better look at things." He wouldn't mind rebuilding this house in a more convenient position for that, if he was honest. But there were other projects that would come first, so some jank would be allowable until he had the time and resources to undo and then redo all their structures.

"I just dont want to mess things up," He said, "I dont want to do something and then you dont trust me or you hate me or something..."

"I'm sure you can figure it out," Vera said, "And I can always give ideas if you want."

"Roan..." Anna looked defeated as she sat down on the bed, "Roan, I'm willing to give us a shot, for at least today, but..." She gestured to Roan, "You're the one with an idea. If you can't even go through with it, what's the point?"

"I'd like that," Jack smiled at her and took another bite of food, "I bed you've got hidden talents too." Jack was an architect, Roan a tamer, and Anna hunter. Surely Vera had her thing as well, she couldn't just be a pretty girl that could cook.

"Just promise you won't slap me..." Roan said, "Thats all I'm really asking."

"I dont know," she shrugged, "I havent found my calling yet. Maybe ill be like... a farmer or something."

"I'll only slap you if you dodo out," Anna put up her right hand in an imitation of a gesture she didn't quite know well enough to do properly, "Survivor's honor."

Jack couldn't help but laugh at the image of Vera plowing a field in overalls and a wide-brimmed straw hat. That just didn't look right, he couldn't imagine her doing that, "I don't know about that one." He shook his head, "I think," he said, "That you might be better suited to technical stuff, like the implants." He shrugged and opened his engrams, "Maybe we can try together laying pipe?" They'd need water up here anyway if they were going to get much more done. They couldn't grow food up on the cliff's soil without a way to hydrate it, and it just wasn't feasible to make daily trips down to the ocean to collect waterskins full of water and have half of it drip out before they got back to the top.

Roan rolled his eyes a bit, moving to pull her closer before placing his lips to hers. He didnt know that it was, but the idea just came to him.

Vera nodded, "We can definitely work on piping for farming and stuff. We can make a reservoir for the water too in case we need it.

Anna seemed like she was going to renege on her promise not slap Roan, raising her hand to do so as he grabbed her. "What are you- mn!" The arm that went up to slap Roan instead went around his neck to hold him close. When their lips parted, her eyes were still closed. "...This is good..."

A reservoir would also help as a hub for any pipes they needed to run for other things. "You know..." Jack reached for his map book and flipped to a blank page, "I've been having an idea lately," they hadn't had a safe opportunity to bathe since they left the fort and it's walled-in part of the water. "Maybe we could use that pipe system for other things? Like bathing?" He sketched a stone tap suspended off the ground and a stickfigure underneath. "Kinda like the rain?" Not that he'd tried to bathe in the rain yet, or at all, really.

Roan grined, liking the arm around his neck. He gave a soft chuckled before leaning in to give another kiss, this one more gentle.

"Oh, thats a great idea." She took a piece of the paper and drew on it, a diagram idea of how to achieve such a thing, "Like this."

Roan was a bit taller than Anna. Not to the extent Jack was to Vera, but enough that she hat to stand on tiptoe to stay up with him. And the way she was essentially melting against him, balance was failing the two and pulling them in the direction of Anna's weight, which happened to be onto the only piece of furniture there.

"I like that," Jack nodded, "See, I thought you'd be able to handle the technical stuff!", he smiled and held up his hands for a high five. She'd even thought about the things that would be using the water, with multiple intakes and reservoirs to be able to keep the water moving at all times if needed. "But what about," he made an note for scrap paper and scribbled out a structure on the side of the cliff, with Vera's pipe structure running along the support pillars instead of up the cliff-face.

Roan chuckled into their kiss as the two sort of fell onto his bed. He put a hand out to cushion them as they laid down, never actually breaking the kiss.

"That would work," Vera nodded, "It would make more room for farming too."

Anna blushed as Roan held himself on top of her. She'd earlier said she didn't like being trapped, but she didn't mind this cage. She even forgot about the food on the fire in favor of savoring the moment, gripping Roan's back and holding him close as they kissed. "You got any more bright ideas?", she whispered with a cheeky grin.

"Mm-hm," Jack nodded, "I like this." They could talk projects together, "I bet if we had the resources we could make it so we only had to leave the house to run the animals around and pick crops." Although realistically so far today they had done everything that could be done in this house. Making stuff downstairs, making out upstairs, and discussing the future. Jack hadn't build this house with another occupant in mind.

"Perhaps a few," he answered with a grin as his hand gently rubbed her side, accidently pushing her shirt up a tad, "Though, I might enjoy just doing this for a while."

"Probably," she answered, "We make a good team."

"Aww," Anna pouted, "You're holding out on me." She grinned and cupped the man's cheek, "This is nice." she could see why Jack and Vera enjoyed each other's company so much now, if this is what they've been doing.

Jack hummed, closing his book, "You know, we can check if that would work for bathing really easily. And figure out soap at the same time. He stood up from the table, "Do you remember what we came up with for making soap?"

"I dont wanna go all out and have nothing exciting next time," He chuckled. He smiled softly, "This is nice. I like it."

Vera nodded, "I wrote it down, but I think its in the storage bins outside."

"That was smooth," Anna grinned. Making sure she had to come back to see what else was in store. "You know," she looked at Roan's throat and traced his collarbone with her finger, "If we're going to be doing this a lot, we'll need a bigger bed." She winked at him as the smell of burning meat reached their noses. "The food."

"Huh," Jack looked outside and found it was still pouring down rain. "Do you remember which box? I'll go get it." He was already moving towards a small storage crate he'd left his hides in.

"Ah shit," Roan said and got up, going to the food, "Like it a little black?"

"Third from my place i think, " She said as he walked out the door, "I'm pretty sure its that one."

"Eh?", Anna shrugged, "That's what we get for not using the inventory." She giggled a bit as she sat up, righting her shirt. "Experimentation!"

"Got it," Jack nodded and jogged off into the rain for the box mentioned. He had to search a few before he found it, grabbing some extras while he was out since he was already soaked before he found what he was looking for. When he came back, he was dripping, but at least the sleeping loft was directly over the door so he had some cover to drip-dry before he came back inside, so he didn't leave water all over the floor. "Got it," he grinned as he wrestled with the slick hide armor to get it off.

Roan chuckled, giving her some of the food, "Oh well. Not the first time, right?"

Vera giggled, watching the man wrestle with the hide, "You may have gotten a little wet."

Anna giggled, "Remember the bird?" Back in the fort, she'd shot a bird out of the sky and it landed perfectly on a fire pit. They'd burned it trying to cook it, and ended up feeding it to the raptors. "Think we'll ever figure out how to cook without the inventories?" It seemed remarkably inefficient to have three inventory slots on that thing but only cooking from one. If they could figure out how to cook with the flame, they could instead spit-roast food.

"Just a bit," Jack grinned, and then with a pop that sent him off balance he broke the seal the wet hide had with his skin and the shirt came off. Progress! Jack was jacked underneath his clothes. All of them were muscular to a degree, but Jack just looked like a meat wall under there. "But I got the notes, and some extras we might need." Mostly fiber, hide, and some extra food, thatch, and stone should they need it for anything.
