Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"Yea, sure, do you want to model for me?" He asked. It would be a lot easier if he could see what he was doing.

"I mean," Anna looked at the harness and then at her legs, "Your legs are slimmer than mine, it might be tight."

"Well..." He thought for a moment, "The armors adjust to the wearer, so when we finish this up it might too."

"Just right there is fine," He answered as he quickly untangled the mess of hide, "Here, put this on."

"Kay," figuring out the tangled mess took a bit, during which time Anna was getting more and more agitated, watching Jack and Vera get along so well while she and Roan were playing Cat's Cradle with her legs. What was Cat's Cradle? Good question. Anna didn't have an answer, but by the time she figured out how to get into the harness and had done so, using the side of a house for support, she looked and sounded like she might bite someone's head off for looking at her funny.

"You know, I could have helped," Roan said, offering a soft voice to sooth Anna's attitude, "I am the one who made it i know how it works."

"It's fine," Anna snapped, "Just, do the thing." She glared over at the cooking pot where Vera was trying to make a recipe, Jack making runs back and forth to storage for whatever ingredient she needed. "How are they getting along?", she blurted, "Yesterday she was a wreck and he was an ass, and now they're mates?"

"Maybe that argument was all they needed," Roan said, tone never changing despite Anna's snap. He made steady work braiding and weaving hide strips to make a thicker, sturdier rope around Anna's lower back. This would provide support and keep from yanking at the hips during a fall. Roans thigh was still bruised from a failed at the harness, having fallen with only straps around his thighs.

"But..." Anna didn't have a response to that. "That's just stupid. Arguments don't end in romance!" At least she didn't think they did, they never had before. "Whoa, careful, that's tight!"

"Better, thank you," Anna sighed, "I'm sorry, you don't deserve getting yelled at." Especially since Roan wasn't what was irritating her.

"No, its ok. I get it. Youre mad. I dont blame you," He said. He shook his head, "You dont have to apologize to me."

"Yeah, but," Anna sighed, "I just... Why do they get to have fun as a couple and we don't?" She realized what she'd said as soon as she said it and turned tintoberry red, clapping her hands over her mouth.

"Cuz I said so," Anna backed, reaching for her pike. Now it was just awkwardly quiet between them.

Roan's eyes widened a bit. He wasn't sure if she was threatening him but he didn't really want to take his chances. How did Jack and Vera get along so easily? He raised his ands in surrender, backing up slowly, "Woah, easy there..."

"Mm-hm," Anna put the spear down. "Not a word." She was still a bit red in the face as she turned back to look at the wall. Now this was just another example of the differences. Jack and Vera fight, suddenly they get along. Anna and Roan fight, and it's just awkward. Maybe she was trying too hard.

"Can I finish the harness?" Roan asked, not daring to step any closer.

"Dinners ready!" Vera called out. She had successfully made a cake. It looked delicious and smells sweet. She put slices of it onto plates for everyone, "Here, Jack, try it."

"Yes," Anna said hastily, "I'm not going to stab you." Yet.

"Oh, wow!" From a professional baker's perspective, it didn't make sense how Vera could make a two-layer cake, ice, decorate, and cool it all without ever leaving the burning cooking pot or using anything other than a wooden spoon to prepare it, but then it also didn't make sense how Jack could carry three-hundred pounds of stone in one hand thanks to the implant, so that was a moot point. Crafting stations didn't follow the rules. Sitting down with the plate and a fork, Jack took a bite of the cake, and was quiet for a moment while he thought about it. "Okay, you've beaten Roan's casserole by a longshot." If they had the knowledge, they might have questioned if cake alone was a healthy dinner, but that wasn't even a factor.

"Are you kidding me?", Anna grumbled, watching that go down.

"Seriously?" Roan muttered, making his way over. He looked at the treat and could smell the sweetness, "It smells like berry mash.. like... sweet. "

"Try it! Its one of the recipes Jack and I found," Vera insisted, trying it for herself, "Its yummy."

"Mm-hm!", Jack agreed around a mouthful, although berry mash tended to be more purple than Vera's cake. "I bet if we could find some more we'd never have a boring meal again!" Between Roan's casseroles and Vera's cakes Jack was probably going to start gaining weight. "Anna, come on, it's good food!"

"I'm fine!", Anna didn't want to come over and be surrounded in that social fun while she was still entangled in Roan's harness, especially since watching everyone else get along was making her snippy. She didn't want to get backhanded by Jack again.

"I'll take this to her," Roan said quietly, taking up two plates, "We're kind of working on something."

Roan made his way over to her, putting the plates down on a rock nearby, "If you want it.."
