Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"Well, Vera, I'm sorry, maybe we can mix something up for medicine when we get back to camp," Anna shrugged. Back at camp, Jack had been busy. There were three small shacks ready for the girls and Roan to put beds down in and decorate as they wanted. The fourth structure wasn't as complete, mostly because it was several times larger than the huts. The bottom section was constructed, but Jack was working on a second floor when they got back, sitting down for a food break. Manny had proved invaluable as a standing place for him to reach the higher and harder to get to areas.

"Hey guys!", Jack waved, not yet noticing the wolves.

"Hey Jack, nice work on the houses," Vera called. Behind her, Roan came up with the wolves in tow, "Jack, look! I got dogs!"

"Thanks!", Jack called, getting up from his snack break when he heard Roan's announcement. "You got- Roan, what did we agree on about tames?" He got down from the larger structure to confront Roan on breaking the only rule regarding tames.

"Roan," Jack started, but stopped. "Alright, because they're dogs, this one slides." He shook his head, "But we don't have the resources to just tame stuff. We're already struggling to feed ourselves, the spino, raptors, and argies. I haven't seen your pegomastax since we left the fort, and Lil' Chicken's hiding from Gaia and Cherry."

"I know I know, but they'll be better for the arctic region," Roan said ,looking at the raptors, "Raptors aren't well suited for it."

Jack rolled his eyes, "Whatever, you three have your houses done, it's up to you how you wanna decorate them." The three small houses were on a two-by-two foundation, with three of those squares being walled for a home, and the remainder being a small porch.

"What's that big one, a workshop?", Anna pointed to the big structure.

"No, that's my house," Jack shook his head, "I told you I'd build whatever you wanted, you wanted a tiny cabin."

"The bottom floor's gonna be mostly a workshop. Some forges, smithy, mortar and pestles," storage," Jack shrugged, "The top floor's mostly going to be open space, I'll add to it as I go, and there's gonna be stuff around the roof for Lil' Chicken to climb around in."

"Big house for just a dude and a bird," Anna shook her head, "You sure it's just for you?"

"Well, Manny can't fit through the door," Jack joked.

Vera giggled, "I dont think thats what she meant. "

"Why not take a wolf?" Roan suggested.

Jack didn't understand Vera's comment at all, but Roan caught him off guard, "No, those are yours, you're not pawning that responsibility off on me."

"Why not?", Anna pressed, "You wouldn't take one of the raptors, you need some kind of carnivore to back you up if something happens. What if you're out gathering materials and some raptors show up?" She gestured to a wolf with a pattern like a husky, "One of these would be quick to help you."

"Exactly," Roan agreed, "A bunch of herbivores is great but not much help when you only have one out at a time."

Jack kept protesting but he was basically backed into a corner, "Fine, fine, I'll take a wolf!", he sighed and looked at the pack, "Which one, since you're making every other decision for me, here."

"Were not making decisions for you, its just better you had one and you won't trust the raptors, " Roan said before gesturing to the wolves, "Pick one."

Jack sighed, looking over the pack. There were six wolves, each a different pattern. "I guess if I have to," he put both hands behind his back, "I'm thinking of a number between one and six."

"Five," Anna blurted.

"The one in the back, with the heterochromia," Jack didn't even realize he'd said another word he didn't recognize until Anna looked at him weird, "Different colored eyes."

"Oh," Anna looked at the one he was pointing to and whistled, "Come here, girl!"

The she wolves made her way up to Anna, tail wagging and being called for. Roan chuckled, "Name her."

Jack sighed and knelt in front of the wolf to get a better look at her. "Janus." He shrugged as her tag changed. "Two-faced god of choices."

"Well all the cool names seem to be coming from gods," Anna crossed her arms.

"We'll figure out what a god is eventually," Jack shrugged, "Until then, I've got a roof to build you guys have beds to make." He made his way back to Manny to grab wood and thatch with Janus in tow.

"Has anyone seen Meatloaf?", Anna asked, looking around for the Moschops.

"I built her a kennel, but she wanted out," jack shrugged.

Almost as is summoned, the moschops came waddling over excitedly, running right up to Anna and nuzzling her leg.

"There she is," Anna led Meatloaf over to the wolves, getting the dire wolves familiar with the moschops so they wouldn't eat her. "Think we could have Jack build a kennel for the wolves?", she asked Roan, "Or we could build it?"

"I'm sure we can handle it." Roan commented, "Jack has enough to handle."

"Alright," Anna shrugged and led Meatloaf back to her kennel, "We'll handle that after pelts, though." Speaking of, "We didn't get enough pelts for even one set of fur, did we?" One set of fur took over three hundred pelt, and they had just short of ninety. "We've gotta do something about that."
