Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"I don't know. Another one of those things we say and don't understand," Vera guessed, "But I assume its something you cuddle."

"Hmm," Jack thought about that, "Well, dogs were direwolves," he looked at the wolves, then back at the fire, "So teddy bear might be another animal we'll find?"

"Maybe," Vera agreed before doodling in the dirt. It was a strange depiction of a series of circles and half circles. One large circle for the head, with two half circles on the top. A small circle inside the large one near the bottom with a dot at the top. Two dots for eyes followed by an oval ish shape for the body and four oblong ovals for arms and legs, "There. Teddy bear."

"Huh," Jack looked at the shape, "Don't let Meatloaf find out you drew that, she likes destroying dirt drawings." He looked at the shape for a moment, "You know, I bet we might find something that looks like that."

"If we do, its be kind of cool," She said with a laugh, "Dont tell Meatloaf I drew."

Jack shook his head, "Well, we'll see what Meatloaf does," he shrugged and started passing plates to the other humans, "Roan's still asleep?"

Anna shook her head, "He was up late dealing with Cicero and the wolves, let him rest."

"If you say so," Jack shrugged, "But we've got stuff to do."

"Do we really have a deadline?" Vera asked, "I mean its not really life or death at this point is it?"

"We've got until the meat runs out to find alternatives, if that's what you're asking," Jack said, "At which point yes, it will be life or death."

"Maybe," Jack shrugged, "But we're also gonna need a lot more metal, supply is starting to dwindle, and ideally I'd like to replace the wood wall with stone." He took the stick and started drawing a diagram of a better wall than what he'd build, "Stone foundations, pillars and ceilings in the middle, with walls lining the outside. That's a lot more that something needs to break in order to get through."

"Well, Manny can probably haul metal easily," Vera thought aloud, "So taking him and the paras we could get plenty of metal."

"We'd have to scout and find some metal ore," Jack nodded, "You guys could take the raptors and do that."

"Hang on, hang on," Anna interjected, "Every time we go to do something, you stay here and screw around, when are you gonna come on an adventure?"

"I didn't say I wouldn't come to mine it," jack shook his head, "Manny's too slow for scouting, and I can't ride a raptor."

"I don't know if Janus can even carry me," Jack shook his head.

"Try, it can't hurt," Anna shrugged, "If she can carry you, you've got no excuse."

"They seem pretty strong," Vera commented, "Give it a try. Worst that happens is she can't carry you."

Jack shrugged, "Janus!", he whistled for the big dog to come over, wagging her tail like she was getting a treat. "She's been talking to Meatloaf," Jack shook his head as he stood up.

"Wouldn't you?", Jack pointed out as he figured out how to get onto Janus's back. Without a saddle, staying there took some figuring out, until he found a spot on the wolf's back where he was relatively stable.

"Well, she can hold your weight," Anna nodded, "Can she run?"

"We're gonna find out," Jack shrugged, trying to figure out how to emulate reins and stirrups on a wolf with no saddle. Janus took off, Jack did not, leaving a direwolf-shaped gap between the man and the ground. "Uh oh." THUD!

"Maybe we can make some kind of harness to help with that?", Anna offered, "I mean staying on Manny was rough and he's massive, Janus is tiny in comparison."

"I think I cracked my ass-bone," Jack muttered as he rolled to his feet.
