Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"We can go out hunting again tomorrow." He said, looking at the wolves.

Anna nodded and tossed Meatloaf a treat to keep her busy while she closed the kennel. "Well, let's just hope the 'dogs' get along with the raptors for now." They could hear some snapping from the direction of the raptor area as the males came over, and the females drove them off to keep them away from the eggs. "We're gonna have to do something about that."

That seemed like a good idea, "When we build the raptor stable, we'll separate the males," Anna nodded. "In the meantime," she whistled for Occisor and Thunder to come over and positioned them near the cabin she claimed, disabling wandering for them so they wouldn't run off and harass Gaia and Cherry. "We've gotta make beds and go to bed," Anna said as she went to the storage to get the fiber she needed to build a bed and a sleeping bag.

Vera nodded, doing the same and getting the supplies for a bed, "I wonder how long it will be for the eggs to hatch."

"I don't know," Anna sighed, "But Gaia and Cherry won't let us near to find out." She took her bedding into her new shack and started setting up the bed to be comfortable to sleep on.

Vera took to her new home and set it up to be comfortable to sleep in. Bed, sleeping bag, and a small fire pit. It didn't really seem as if the wooden structures would catch fire. Odd

Anna did similar for her home, but she didn't put a fire down on the wooden floor, just set her bed up. The house was well-insulated with the clay blocking gaps in the planks, anyway. oddly, Anna didn'r remember any sort of clay being in the recipe, but it was always in wooden structures no matter what.

Jack set up a temporary sleeping area under the stairs in his home . Once it was built completely there would be a loft where he and Janus could sleep, but until then he had to make do. Morning came, and Anna and Vera found their implants buzzing. This time Jack was woken early by Janus scratching at the door, so he wasn't sleeping in.

Roan had the chance to sleep in and took the opportunity. He was very tired from days of working and grinding for their resources. Vera on the other happily got up, going outside to check on the raptors and their eggs.

Cherry and Gaia were a little more welcoming of Vera to their makeshift nests. They were her dinos specifically, so they were more willing to let their master near their nest than the giant or the wolves. The eggs had little screens that appeared over them, like when Vera looked closely at any other dino. There were two stat bars on the egg, "Egg Health", which was slowly going down, and another blank one that said "Too cold to incubate".

While Janus ran around doing her business, Jack went to let Meatloaf out of her kennel so she could do the same, making sure the feeding troughs were full so no one would starve. "Have you checked the birds?", he asked, pointing at the argies, before realizing they never tried to modify the pteranodon saddles to accomplish that. "Ah, we don't happen to have a little over two hundred keratin, do we?" He had the engram, he just hadn't checked if he could make one for each of the argentavis.

"Mornin'," Anna yawned as she came out of her new home.

Vera looked at the eggs before reaching to pick them up, "No, but I'm sure we can get some."

She had no problem grabbing the eggs, the raptors being more than willing to let their master handle them. Vera walked over to the fire and put the eggs down near it, careful not to place them too close. Soon the egg incubation began to drop, "But I think I have a job to do."

"Alright, whatever, I'll see what I can scrounge up," Jack sighed, "Morning, Anna."

"Is someone making breakfast?", Anna asked.

"Not yet," Jack shook his head, "Do you think we have a couple hundred keratin?"

"No, Roan used a bunch to make combs," Anna shook her head, "I think we've only got somewhere in the neighborhood of forty left."

Vera looked at Anna, "I told him you guys can probably get more. It wouldn't be hard."

Meanwhile, Meatloaf waddled up to Anna, rubbing her head on Anna's leg. Her tongue stuck out of her mostly closed mouth.

Anna shrugged and looked down at the moschops, giving her a scratch down the back of her head, "Good girl, Meatloaf."

"I guess I'm making breakfast," Jack shrugged and went to the preserving bin to gather those materials.

A soft thumping came as Meatloaf began to scratch a bit with her foot, tapping the ground in the process. Vera giggled, "I think she likes thst."

"Of course she does," Anna sighed, there didn't seem to be any gesture short of kicking that this moschops didn't like. "We're going fur hunting today, right?"

"Have fun with that," Jack shrugged as he started putting meat on the fire. Smelling raw meat, the wolves padded over with interest.

Vera looked at the wolves, "I think they're hungry. Is there a trough with meat in it?"

"I don't think so," Anna shook her head, "We've been keeping the carnivores fed by keeping meat in their inventories."

"Well, get on that, I'm getting swarmed," Jack only had two hands and six wolves were trying to take meat from them.

If the large size and snapping jaws were disregarded, the hungry wolves were pretty cute. For Jack, being surrounded by slathering hungry wolves big enough that even he could ride one was very much the opposite of cute.

Once they all had a piece of meat in their jaws, though, the wolves separated to go chew down their food.

"I bet they're warm to cuddle at night," Vera commented, watching them.

"Oh, you have no idea," Jack shook his head, "Janus is like a furnace, and she really likes the bed."

"No, she climbed on the bed and weighs as much as me," Jack shook his head, "I need to start training her and Meatloaf once everything's built." Speaking of, "How much hide do we have?"

"A lot."

"Good, I've got forges and smithies to build."

Vera giggled, "Jack just doesn't wanna admit he's a big ole teddy bear."
