Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

"Got it," Vera said as she got ready to kill off the dilos on the left. She decided that maybe the cross would be more efficient for multiple aggressive dinos.

---------
"But we should wait until our adult ones are able to kill more easily," He thought out loud, "Hate to try and have these guys hunt and they get eaten instead."

Likewise, Jack took the right, kneeling and aiming for the head. The dilos went down quick, dropping dead with arrows in their heads. "Nice job," Jack congratulated Vera and got up to go butcher the kills.

--------------
Seeing nothing of interest from the top of the watchtower, Anna climbed back down to the crafting area. "I'm gonna have some target practice, you want to join?"

They were easy kills. All that was needed was a swift blow to the head, "Easy meat."

Vera watched as Jack butchered the carcasses, "Lets hope they're all that easy to kill."

------------
"Target practice?" Roan questioned.

"Dodos and dilos are small enough they should all be that easy," Jack agreed, "I'm not sure about the bigger ones, though. We've never killed something sturdier than an already dying sarco with weapons." The additional meat and hide barely made a dent in Hardhead's carry weight, so they continued onward.

---------
"Yeah," Anna gestured to the ratty dummies down below, a frame in the vague shape of something with sacks of thatch for a body, head, and limbs, with small bullseyes painted on critical areas.

"I meant i hope we don't run into anything else," Vera laughed, "I just hope we don't have anything too eventful."

------------
Roan nodded, "Sure, lets go then."

"Oh," Jack realized a bit too late what Vera meant, now he just felt like a dumbass. "Yeah, I want that too," he agreed.

-------------
"Lead the way," Anna gestured to the ladder down to the ground. The targets were pretty easy to hit while standing straight up a certain distance away, with neither party moving. That seemed to be why Anna had gotten bored earlier.

Vera laughed, finding his reaction to be hilarious, "Did you really think I mean the dilos were hard?"

------------
"Seems a little easy," Roan commented as they made their way to the dummies, "Perhaps more extensive training it in order?"

"No I thought you meant you wanted to go shoot a trike, and I didn't know if we could do that," Jack shook his head, the humor lost on him.

-------------------
"I am open to ideas." Anna shrugged as she loaded a bolt into her crossbow.

"Thats probably a bad idea," Vera commented

----------
"Ride a raptor back and forth and try to hit the targets," Roan suggested.

Jack agreed with that, so they kept hunting small game until Hardhead had enough weight on his back that if any more was added he wouldn't be able to run with the two humans on his back.

---------

That seemed like a good idea, so Anna nodded and went to retrieve Thunder from the paddock, letting some of the other two raptors get some exercise.

When they had gotten more than enough meat to last a while, Vera looked at Jack, "Think that will last long?"

-----------
Roan watched as the other raptors ran around, stretching their legs, "Alright, lets see how good you are."

Jack took a look at their stock. "This should last us longer than we'll be here, if we're moving," Jack nodded. he grabbed Hardhead's reins to keep the Parasaur still and offered Vera some help getting up onto the dinosaur, climbing up behind her once she was in the saddle. The meat they'd collected would be more than enough to keep everyone fed and the narcotics box stocked for a while. They had strayed pretty far from the fortress, though, and it would take a while to get back.

-------------
Anna chuckled as she climbed onto Thunder and flicked the reins to send the raptor sprinting back and forth in front of the tartgets. Anna turned out to be a horrible shot when aiming at a target while moving, she was more a danger to Roan on raptorback than she was to the target dummy.

With help, Vera climbed onto the saddle, "Then let's go home. Even if its temporary. "

--------
Taking note of her horrible aim, Roan put the other raptors safely away before ducking behind a wall for safety, "Aim for the dummies not me!"

Jack nodded and turned Hardhead towards home. "Home, Hardhead."

--------

"Noted!", Anna shouted, managing to actually hit the target that time. "Hey, that- WHOA!" Thunder tripped and they both went rolling, Anna's bolt going skyward and bringing down to earth one very unfortunate icthyornis that landed almost perfectly on the cooking fire.

Roan watched as the unfortunate victim of Anna's tumble hit the fire, "Thats dinner i suppose."

That seemed passable to Anna, who was in the process of untangling herself from herself while Thunder squawked his annoyance at what happened. "I think that's enough for now," she grumbled as she got to her feet and started limping back to the chairs, using Thunder for support. She'd managed to hurt her leg in that tumble, she thought she should sit down before checking the damage.

"Are you ok?" Roan asked as he went to her side, "That looked like it hurt."

"It did," Anna hobbled to a bench and rolled up the leg of her pants, finding an ugly mess of a bruise and, on some prodding, she'd sprained her leg pretty badly.

"Why dont you prop it up and rest for a bit?" Roan suggested. He didnt like the look of the bruising, "That looks awful. I can take some meat from the preserver to cool it down if you like."

Anna winced but nodded, "Yeah, that's a good idea," it took some maneuvering to get her leg on top of something. "This isn't gonna stop us from getting where we're going, tomorrow, is it?"

"Not as long as you can ride," Roan replied, getting the cold meat to help the swelling and bruising.

"I don't know," Anna gave a hiss as the cold meat was laid down on her leg, "God that's cold!"

"It'll help," He said, unsure how he knew that it would. He knew, somehow, that it would help with the swelling and bruising but didn't know how. He'd never learned it on his own. And he never heard it from anyone else.

"Yeah, it's just," Anna gave a shiver as she tried to get used to the cold thing on her leg, settling into a more comfortable position. "Can you put the raptors up?"

Roan nodded, "The only one still out is Thunder. I put them away earlier so they wouldn't get hurt."
