Fantasy Anything Goes

They were gone. All of them. There was a small chance Mr.Renolds and Duchess were fine, but there was no saving the books. All the beautiful places filled with crystal clear waters, futuristic devices, and crumbling buildings were gone. All the characters she once felt comfortable calling close friends. Every tear that was shed, tender kiss shared between forbidden loves, and happy memories with people long gone were being engulfed in the flames. She could imagine the pages curling up, trying to escape their inevitable end, but burning away. Pages would be turned into white ashes, and spines of books and book shelves would be reduced to charcoal.

Victoria watches the bookstore. She kneels next to Aileada and puts an arm around her shoulder. She wasn't the type of person to get attached to books, but she could imagine the feeling if her art were in place of the books.

He gradually sat up from where he lay in the street, coughing painfully and covered in dust and soot. This was exactly why he hated using time magic, but in this case, it wasn't so bad. He spit another gob of blood onto the street and lit a cigarette, fluffing his hair. He'd definitely torn a vocal cord by this point. But the store was mostly saved, and more importantly to him, the old man still lived. Tsatsu had even spared the cat, Dutchess, who slowly approached and began to lick one of his hands.

All of a sudden the flames were gone. But the bookstore was still in barely standing position, the books gone. Aria suddenly felt a terrible pain in her jaw, in which she clenched with her hand before healing it with a quick spell.

What he hell? Magic for sure. Suddenly the calmed were gone and the town alerted the bookkeeper still breathed. She sat down, running her hands through her hair angrily. Somiss had successfully framed her and now running her out of another town. She let out a muffled scream in her Albania in anger and desperation. There was nowhere. Nowhere to go. Never safe. She put her face in her palms to think. Her knees up to her chest as she sat in front of the burned building.

Shinu sat in the street with a look of innocent amusement, petting and cooing at Dutchess, speaking with the animal in their shared primal tounge. To an outside ear, it would've sounded like a mixture of Japanese, Russian, and Apache Indian mixed together. To him, it was as comfortable as English. After a moment, he turned his head and looked to the newcomer, shouting in not more than a hoarse and cracked voice. "Ya could'a helped, biscuit brains!" He rasped as he got to his feet and dusted himself off. Had Tsatsu not brought Mr Renolds outside? He muttered a string of profanity in his native tongue as he stepped inside and helped the poor fellow to his feet. "Come on, old man, let's get you some water." He said, surveying the inside of the store. Roughly forty percent torched, mostly on the first floor. But he'd managed to save the majority of the fiction section and the historical section entirely. As he helped Mr Renolds outside to the street, he cursed in his razor-sharp wolf tongue and spat drops of blood every few steps.

Victoria gets to her feet and watches Shinu escort the owner out of the bookstore. She looks around at everyone else: Hunter, the new girl, Aileada. What if she had caused this? She had destroyed the cafe and hurt people. She could have just as easily caused this disaster.

Aileada continued to sit there on the ground, even as a wet nose pressed against the side of her face. Her gaze didn't leave the ground in front of her. Duchess whimpered and pawed at Aileada. With the lack of response Duchess laid on the human's lap, glancing up occasionally with her beautiful, soft grey-blue eyes.

"My magic wasn't working... He made it weak..." She mumbled back. She should've helped. It was all just a blur. She looked in her bag for the file. Not seeing on the file, she desperately dug through it. Gone. "Fuck!" She yelled, a little to loud. A few but little heads turning in her direction before looking back to the building. Where was that creepy old snake hiding? Her eyes watered but she quickly blinked them back.

Despair, guilt. She had let her gaurd down and a innocent man almost died because of her. He would always find her, he had said. And he was right. But he never caught her. Not yet. But today she was getting close. It was a threat. For looking at his backstory. For making an ally.

But then of course she seemed to have lost that ally, thanks to Somiss. He was always one step ahead. She looked down at the ground. Still looking at the ground in grief.

Once Mr Renolds had been tended to, Shinu knelt down in front of Aileada and spoke the last words he would speak for quite some time.

"I'll fix the books. I just need to rehh-"

And with that, his fractured vocal chords finally cracked, sending him into a wave of coughing that left a long string of blood and saliva hanging from his lips. He'd had enough talking anyway. And so he stood and returned to the store, thinking of a way to somehow repair the damage and restore the precious books. If he were to ask his brother, the child would surely demand payment for this large of a favor. But then again, did he have any better options? And so, he stood amond the charred remains, smoking and pondering like something out of a Humphrey Bogart movie.

Victoria stands next to Shinu and looks at the crumbling store. "We can't just have a calm day, can we?" She asks, more to herself than him.

He shook his head and shrugged as he looked around one more time. There was certainly nothing he could do to fix the situation, but perhaps Tsatsu could. And so, he made a mental note to speak with the boy that night, while everyone else slept. At least then, he might be able to do something without being interrupted.

Victoria looks up at the building and the same question crosses her mind. What it I had done this? She turns away from the building and looks at the ground.

Aileada looked up at Shinu with large child-like eyes, nodding as he walked away. Gently her hand came down on Duchess' head petting her absentmindedly. She felt as though she had just watched her entire family be murdered, as if they were caught in the fire instead a bunch of pieces of paper bounded together by leather. Carefully sliding Duchess off her lap, Aileada stood up and began into the bookstore. Duchess followed behind, leaving small footprints in the ashes. The basement was mainly made of stone- it had never matched the rest of the building's design- this meant that it was left unscathed in the fire. The cool air of the basement caused Aileada to cross her arms as she looked around. "This feels stupid." She mumbled to herself, but it was at least worth a shot. "Tsatsu?" She spoke softly. At least if it didn't work she could spare herself the humiliation of yelling his name.

The young wolf tilted his head up and spoke in a hushed tone. "You rang, mon petit mademoiselle?" Tsatsu replied as he rose from an old wooden chair, approaching her with an air of power and elegance. He'd been in the room before she'd even gotten up from her spot in the street. "And before you ask, yes I know what you're thinking, and yes I can read your thoughts."

Aileada snapped her fingers. "Shucks, well there goes that surprise party I was throwing for you." A faint smile crossed her face as she sat on the cool, stone floor, crossing her legs much like a child would. "So you're Shinu's brother? I suppose I can see it if I close one eye." She placed a hand over one of her eyes. "And then the other." She moved her other hand over her eye and grinned. "There, now I can see the similarities."

(woah I changed the font and dont know how to fix it 0_0)

He chuckled softly as he sat down before her, dressed in a simple black shirt and tie, with a matching vest adorned with a golden pocket watch chain. "So, Alieada. I take it your books have a few boo boos? Tsk tsk, such a shame. And I can only presume that you'd like them restored, and you're willing to make me an offer I couldn't walk away from. But the question you're really asking is this: 'What if he turns the tables and makes me a better offer with a higher price?' Well I can tell you one thing. It is a tempting offer, the one I have in mind for you." He said with a cunning look in his eyes. "And the question that keeps waking you up in the middle of the night, as of late. Well, I'm here, aren't I?" He said with a slight grin, knowing her thoughts as quickly as she could think them. While his brother tinkered with the more physical forms of magic, Tsatsu leaned more towards the ecclectic side, as was plainly obvious in his choice of attire. And he cherished every second of it.

The question continues to echo in Victoria's mind. She turns away from the bookstore and begins to jog back to her house. She was still out of breath, but she went anyway.

Aileada smiled lightly. "I don't think you can make me a better offer. Even though there are things that I'd like to change or see differently, the price for such things would be ridiculous. But," She grinned tilting her head slightly, watching his face. "Just to entertain the idea, what would you offer and what would be the price?"

Shinu turned and watched Victoria jog away, presumably heading for home. With a sigh, he followed after her at a safe distance. He'd have to sort out the bookstore later. What had caused her to run off so suddenly? Meanwhile, Tsatsu flashed a sinister grin as he locked his gaze with Aileada. "It's actually rather simple, mon chéri." He said as he leaned forward a bit and smiling tenaciously. "I'll turn back time and fix your wonderful books. But my price is this, and you may only choose one of the two. For every second it takes to undo the damage, I get to spend that same amount of time reading your precious little secret. Or, for every second I spend in the fabric of time, you must offer a kiss that lasts the same amount of time. Time for time, equally exchanged, yes?" He said as he gestured in humble sincerity. "I give of my time, and you give of yours. In order to recieve, something must be given, aye?"

Victoria gets to her house and unlocks the door. She gets inside and runs into her room, quickly gathering the things that Shinu had unpacked earlier.

As quiet as a church mouse, Shinu slipped in through the front door and barged into her room, silently putting everything back where it belonged just as quickly as she could retrieve it. His reasons were too numerous to count, but the greatest reason was that he simply did not wish to see his new friend depart so soon.

Victoria finds her bag empty and finally notices Shinu. She takes the shirt she held her hands and wads it up. Then out of pure frustration, she throws it at him. "Stop! Don't you get it!? I could've been the cause of that!"

Hunter looked on at the remains of the bookstore still in shock, remembering the times he had in it the connections he made to the characters, while not as strong as Aileada's, threads in his psyche snapping along the way, he had seen this to many times his friends dying because of him not doing enough, voices started to come out of shadows in his head 'Kill them', 'slaughter all of them' they whispered to the blonde but he blocked it out he wouldn't lose him self, not here at least.

A smirk found its way onto her face. "Such small prices, and you leave me to decide. Your too kind." She tapped a finger to her bottom lip. "I can't accept the deal. It isn't fair." She shrugged. "How about you choose which, and then I'll do an extra smaller favor to even things out. How does that sound?" She stared back, amusement glistening in her eyes.
