Fantasy Anything Goes

As soon as he'd finished unpackong Victoria's belongings, he scooped up the Absolution and headed back outside. Without hesitation, he chambered a round and snapped the gun shut and locked his gaze on the boy, his jade green eyes burning with an inhuman fury. "I am gonna kick your ass, boy!" He shouted the challenge as he drew closer, snarling with a beastly anger. "Put him on the ground. I want him to look me in the eyes when he does this."

"Pssh. Fine..."

Zodiac landed on his boots and looked at Alieada. He turned his head to Shinu and scoffed.

"Damn. It was just a joke, sheesh." Zodiac made a sarcastic gesture.

"Stop being so overreactive."

Ignoring the boy's words, he drew within inches of Zodiac, never once blinking or averting his eyes. In a single fluid motion, Shinu stuffed the pistol into the boy's hands, molding the tiny fingers around the laquered oak grip with great care. Jamming the barrel against his forehead and staring Zodiac down with cold and empty eyes, he spoke in a voice full of sorrow and desperation. "Now shoot me, damn it."

Aileada's eyes widened. "Woah, woah, hold on. No one's shooting anyone." She quickly came up and grabbed the barrel of the gun, pulling it away from Shinu's head. "What's going on here? What happened where now you need to be shot?" She kept her grip on the gun, hoping neither of the two boys would fight back. "Talk to me, Shinu." Her voice was soft and calm.

Zodiac lifted his mask off of his face and stared into Shinu's eyes with a unamused glare.

"Y'know, It's not the time of the year for me to kill anyone yet."

He set the gun down onto the pavement and walked a few feet away.

"If you wanna actually do it, you can do it yourself. I won't blame ya. I'm on my five-month work break."

Hunter somehow summoned his blades causing their primordial presence to be released once more and his eyes to glow their respective colors, "Ok no ones dying on my watch got it!" He said putting the black blade in between the two.

Shinu's only reply was a vicious snarl that threatened to turn into a howl as he picked up the gun and held it out, gripping the weapon by its barrel. "Do it, coward." He seethed as a single tear began to form. "Too lazy?" He taunted, feeling the frayed remains of his humanity begin to slip away. The way he saw it, there were two options. Zodiac could take the gun and put him out of his misery, or he could succumb to the transformation and leave the boy no other choice. Shinu had reached a very delicate state that some lycans refered to as "the edge", the precipice between man and beast. The ones who cherished and enjoyed the change usually needed to be put down anyway, because when they changed, they didn't want to change back. They wanted to hurt and hunt and kill as many as their teeth could find, and Shinu had no desire to become one of those lycans. Better to put him down before he lost control, was his opinion.

Victoria runs after Shinu and stands in from of him. "Calm down," she says softly. She reaches out and gently tries to pry the gun from his hand.

He bared his teeth as he spun the gun around, holding it by the grip now with his finger firmly on the trigger. It was easy to see that he was fighting the change, and slowly beginning to lose. His eyes no longer held any semblance of humanity, and his growls had taken on a more primal tone. All he needed was one more push to send him flying over the edge and into the homicidal bloodlust his kind knew and feared as children fear the boogeyman. He tried desperately to control his breathing and keep a steady grip on the pistol, but he could feel himself getting weaker with every breath.

Victoria does the only thing she can think of, thanks to Zodiac. She stands on her toes and kisses Shinu in an attempt to calm him down.

For a brief moment, his mind was filled with incredible starbursts of various colors, and his adrenal system kicked into hyperdrive. He wasn't entirely aware of what was happening to him, but it made him dizzy. And all at once, the sensation departed as quickly as it had arrived, and he snapped back into reality. Dropping the pistol to the ground, he sank to his knees and quietly wept into his hands, his shoulders heaving with every ragged exhale. For all his wisdom, and all his intelligence, he still could not control the beast inside. He was no better than that demon of a brother of his. He'd come to this place to help people, not pick fights with arrogant children. And yet, here he was. Worst of all, he could've made friends here. He'd had the opportunity, and he'd squandered it so ruthlessly, and pushed one of the better ones to take leave; with or without him.

Aileada watched as everything went down: Hunter pulling out his swords, Shinu aiming the gun at his head, Victoria kissing him. Aileada gently set her hand on Hunter's shoulder, signaling for him to put the blades away. Shinu slowly sank to his knees. Aileada felt the need to comfort him- she never liked seeing anyone upset- but she didn't feel qualified to do so. If anyone was, it was Victoria.

Victoria sits next to him and gently rubs his back. "It okay. Everything's okay. Nobody is hurt," she says. She looks up at the others. "I'm sorry," she says quietly.

"What for?" Honestly, the red head couldn't think of a reason Victoria had to be sorry for. It wasn't like she pulled the trigger. If anything, she stopped him from doing just that. "We should be thanking you, really." Her gaze then settled on Shinu. She didn't want to be rude and talk as if he wasn't sitting right in front of her, but he didn't seem to be in the right state of mind to chat. "Do you think he'll be alright?" Aileada mouthed to Victoria.

In the midst of the chaos, an unseen voice whispered to Zodiac, as if a ghost were speaking to him. "You would do well to live up to your provocations next time, Shinigami. You provoke and cause trouble like a warrior, but you shun responsibility like an infant. It's rude to pick a fight and then turn tale. Death god though you may be, you would be wise to heed the word of the crowned prince of the Seventh Circle. Pick a fight with him if you so choose, but the next time you run, I will tear your soul apart myself and rend you unto dust repeatedly for the rest of eternity. Lu has already promised me that privelege. Do we understand one another, little one?"

"Little one, get outta me skull little voices in my head."

Zodiac said will a playfully scolding voice.

"Silly you, you're supposed to be with Triumph!"

After a few moments, the wolf slowly looked up to the trio and tried to think of what to say or do as he wiped the tears from his face. A part of him still very desperately wanted to fight Zodiac, but it was overwhelmed by the combined joy and sorrow in his heart. He'd caused them so much trouble, done so much damage. And yet here they were, by his side anyway. In the darkeat corner of his thoughts, he dared to think of Tsatsu despite his volatile state. As he slowly got to his feet, he observed his comrades, and cut a murderous glare in Zodiac's direction as he communed with his brother. 'You'd best kill him, before I do. At least if you do it, he'll be the only one you take'. As if to drive this point home to all under the sound of his voice, he scooped up the pistol and removed the cartridge as he screamed at the boy. "You mock my pain once! Never do it again!"

"Wait..." Zodiac walked forward a few steps.

"I think I actually solved the problem. No need to thank me, really. I was just being an ass, that's all."

Zodiac walked toward Alieada with his arms outstreched in a zombie-like pose. He hugged her in an awkward way.

"Sorry for being an ass." He stepped back and stared at Alieada with a genuine pokerface.

"Sarry." He added.

"No, don't hug me." She folded her arms over her chest. "You're were being an ass, asses don't get hugs." She shot the shinigami another glare. "And no, no one will thank you, considering you started the whole mess." She then stuck a finger out, pointing at Victoria and Shinu. "They're the ones you need to apologize to. You don't go messing with people's emotions like that. Just like you didn't like us pushing you away at first you don't make stupid comments about other people's lives."

A weird expression crossed over his face, he turned toward Shinu and Victoria. He sucked in a large amount of air through his bared sharp teeth and slowly bent over at the waist as he did so. He suddenly stood straight again and blurted out.

"sorry for being an ass-"

A flying rock hit Zodiac dead center on his right temple. Zodiac comically fell over with the same expression on his face.

"God DAMN it, Trebuchet." He said as he sat on his side, clutching his bleeding head once again. the familiar hooded figure jumped from the rooftop and landed at Zodiac's feet.

"Aye, you got more to pay for thanna simple sorry, eh."

He dragged Zodiac to his feet by pulling on his ear.

"Time ya learn yer lesson. Ya remember the Air kingdom?"

Zodiac turned his head, wincing a slight bit before speaking.

"Yeah, they hate me."

Trebuchet dragged Zodiac away and threw him down a hole in the ground.

"That's where ya going, bloody idiot. Send me a post card from the Air Empress!"

The hole closed and Trebuchet looked at the group.

"Howdy, fellas."

Shinu simply tilted his head to the side, more than a little befuddled at the madness taking place before his eyes. There was a part of him that wanted to invite everyone to tea and rum and biscuits and more rum, and not contemplate killing anyone else today. But there was a small portion of him that suggested he kill the newcomer anyway, just in case. He did neither, and instead turned his attention to his three comrades. Anything connected to Zodiac was sure to give him nothing but migraines, at this point. "So.....can we all just have tea and not move away forever and ever?" He said in a humble, ragged voice.
