Fantasy Anything Goes

Hunter awoke the next morning early to make sure he still had the case and put a runed padlock on it that only he could open, 'note to self get runed sheaths of the swords' he thought as he walked into the living room noticing Aileada passed out on the floor and picked her up to put her in bed. After Hunter took her to her room he decided to cook some pancakes only to realize he didn't have any of the ingredients, he made a note and started toward the grocery store.

As the morning passed, he'd continued to play and gently sip from the bottle, stopping only to fetch a fresh pack of cigarettes. As the townsfolk began to rouse and move about, he cut short his singing and merely played tunes of various assortments. After some time, he'd grown tired of everyone stopping to offer their spare change or asking him to sing, and so he quickly fashioned a small cardboard sign that said "I'm mute and bored. I am ok. Thank you." People still stopped, but the sign helped a little. Some simply sat and listened, or even made up their own words, and it helped to lighten his mood a bit.

Victoria grabs some clothing and puts them in her suitcase. She throws a few other essential items in it and zips it closed. She rolls it out into the living room and sets it by the door, then gets to work filling a duffle bag with her art supplies.

Hunter, having got the groceries, walked back home noticing Jack playing a harmonica next to a sign saying he was mute, he gave the wolf a nod of acknowledgement and continued on his way. Getting home he walked in put up the groceries and started on the pancakes' batter.

He merely gave a quick glance at the blonde fellow from last night and continued playing, drowning out his thoughts with an old blues melody. The boy probably despised him as much as he hated himself. Not that he could blame the kid. Over the course of the night, Shinu's memory had come back to him, and he fully intended to spend the day forgetting it all over again.

Victoria goes back into her bedroom and lifts up her mattress. She takes a small stack of cash and counted it out. It wouldn't get her far, but it would get her somewhere. She sighs and stuffs it into a front compartment on her suitcase. She zips up the duffle bag and sets it on top of the suitcase. Maybe she would come back for the rest later.

Zodiac had nothing to do. He sat bored upon a park bench, looking into the face of the mask he used to wear all the time. He sighed and raan his fingertips along the Zodiac symbol of the front. The glow from his eyes gave the mask a sinister bleached-red look.

Was this the source of all of my evil? He thought as he put on the mask, feeling the comfortable familiarity of the inside.

No, It's something else...

He felt the face of the mask again, unsure whether he should periodically wear the mask or dispose of the mask. Zodiac went for the former, due to him thinking the mask was a sort of barrier. A protection against the evil outside. It made him feel safe. Sure he would take off the mask from time to time, but this was a habit of wearing it. He stood up and looked around Liondil.

Three days and it already has gone to shit. He thought, spotting all of the tossed cars and broken glass beyond the gates of the park.

No wonder why rarely any people come out anymore. They're scared, of us.

Zodiac peered across the street to spot the wolf guy and Victoria. Don't forget Hunter, but he was pretty normal. He looked at his bandaged palms.

They're scared of me, too. They are scared of Trebuchet... He sat down, his head spinning at the awful realization.

I'm not the only monster, we're all monsters. Even Alieada.

Victoria looks around at her house again. She was going to miss this little place. Shinu had left earlier this morning, but she figured it was for the best. Now she didn't have to say goodbye to anyone.

After some time and a few bumps along the way, he stumbled to the door and gently knocked, a cigarette lazily tucked into his lip. If this was truly it, he at least wanted to...what the hell was even going to say to her? But he had to try. Despite his inebriation, he held the distinct impression that no one had ever made any efforts in her life before, and whether he was right or not, he wasn't going to just quit on her. He quit on himself far too often already. He continued to knock, and would not cease until she answered.

Victoria pushes her bags off to the side and opens the door. She forces a small smile when she sees Shinu, but her eyes are filled with unmistakable sadness.

He leaned on the doorframe for support as his gaze met hers. She was clearly as upset as he was. Although he wasn't entirely sure what he was doing, he knew he was going to do....something. He glanced around inside and noticed that all of her bags were packed. Wherever she was planning to go, she wasn't going to get there today, if he had anything to say about it. And so, in his foolishly intoxicated state, he embraced his inner child and qucikly slipped past her. Once he was through the door, he began to unpack her bags and neatly replace the items where they belonged.

Zodiac stood up and walked down the street. He approached Victoria's former living-place and he looked into the doorway. He lifted his mask from his face and laughed a little. A sinister and mischievous smirk crossed over the shark-like teeth he had.

"Why don't you two just kiss already, heh."

He lowered his mask onto his face, and did a combination of something between a salute and a wave, then he continued to walk down the street towards Alieada's apartment.

When he heard Zodiac's remark, he had what most alcoholics refer to as "a moment of clarity", where an emotional reaction causes the body to flush all alcohol straight to the liver and thereby render the subject sober by technicality. And sober was the last thing he wanted to be right now. Gently taking Victoria by the hand, he stormed outside and followed Zodiac, growling and snarling in anger. He'd had enough of the little serpent's games, and the young wolf had taken it as his mantle to teach the boy some decency. Without warning he released Victoria's hand and dashed forward, grabbing Zodiac by the back of the skull and lifting him cleanly off of his feet. As quickly as he'd lifted the boy, Shinu brought him back down, slamming him face first into the asphalt. Then he rolled the boy over and delivered a quick right hand jab that shattered his mask as if it were made of glass. "Apologize!" He shouted as he rained down six rapid strikes to Zodiac's face. Without waiting for an answer, the wolf grasped him by the throat and lifted him again, carrying Zodiac over to where Victoria stood. "Apologize!" He shouted again, squeezing tight enough to make the veins in his arm stand out.

Aileada woke to the sensation of what she could only describe as her head being split in two. Wincing from the pain, she carefully climbed off her bed. "Wait. When did I go to bed?" She muttered. She began going over the previous night, but was cut short by a wave of pain. She held her hands to her temples, as if holding her head together, as she exited her room.

After taking aspirin and giving the medication a little time to work, the excruciating pain was minimized to a dull throb. Her attention was quickly pulled from her headache to someone shouting in the streets. Quickly pulling on her sneakers, Aileada ran past Hunter, out the door, and down the street.

Hunter watched as Aileada rushed out the door with a raised eyebrow 'well that's a no on pancakes, I guess.' As he heard shouting when she opened the door and decided to see what's up, putting on his shoes he ran outside quickly catching up to Aileada "So any ideas for today's problem?" he asked as they ran

Aileada turned to see Hunter running up along beside her. She simply shook her head and continued running. After a few moments they were at the source of the noise. Shinu held Zodiac by the throat as Victoria tried to pull him. "What the hell's going on?" Aileada shouted, trying to grab their attention.

Shinu refused to release his grip on Zodiac, although he did relax a bit. With a snarl of disgust, he hurled the boy aside and returned to Victoria's home, silently continuing his task of unpacking her belongings and putting them back where they belonged. If it wasn't one thing, it was something else. The more he moved, the more he began to truly sober up, and despite the heartbroken look in his eyes and the glisten at the edges of his vision, he began to hum a rather merry tune as he went about his business.

Zodiac is a nasty trickster, he knows that. Simply a shadow replica did the trick of fooling the drunken dog with little ease. He reappeared on the roof of Victoria's dwelling with a smug look under his mask.

"Heya, you missed something bucko."

There was a childish giggle and Zodiac seemed to disappear again.

God I love being a Shinigami.

Victoria returns to her home and sees Shinu unpacking her things. She sighs and starts to put the things back in her bags. "I can't stay here, Shinu. You and I both know that."

Aileada huffed and crossed her arms. "Zodiac!" She called out, her tone impatient. "Come here, now." Though she was only human and he had the power to snap her like a twig, something told her she would be quite fine. She tapped her foot on the pavement, waiting for him to appear.

Hunter sighed as everything happened "it's not even midday and things have already went south" he said to no one particular "why can't we have a calm day for once?"

Zodiac tapped Alieada on the shoulder, he tilted his head at her and spoke behind the mask.

"Ah, I just feel like myself again..." He skimmed above the ground in a sort of swimming motion.

"I just like to trick and tease people sometimes, eh?"

He did a shrug and started to walk above the air rather then swim.

Her arms remained crossed as she stared at Zodiac with her piercing green eyes. "What did you do? Obviously because Shinu was trying to pummel you into the ground you were doing something stupid." She grabbed a hold of his foot, her voice kept the same low volume, but her voice was slightly more sinister. "Now get down from there before I rip you out of the sky."
