Ancient Earth [OOC]

The year is 2005, you're a war reporter/photographer in Iraq reporting on the conflicts. (note: knowledge of the actual conflicts that occurred is not important, however if you know something you're more than welcome to share it or involve it how you want)

All reporters live in one communal house on the army base, and continue out their day to day activities. The war is the same as the others, and nothing seems very different until one of the reporters stumbles upon something that may be a bit bigger than anything anyone ever thought.

Ancient technologies, evidence of an ancient society with more advanced technology than today.
So what happens when she returns to the house ranting and raving about what they saw (pictures included) will you join her in digging deeper and trying to bring light to the perhaps true reason why American troops are on Iraqi soil, or will you stay out of it and just report on the war you're here to report on.
________________

The setting for our story will begin on a seemingly normal day, it's nearing the end of summer so temperatures are still high but the locals seem to be obsessed with talking about how it's apparently cooling off. Depending on the occupation of your character will depend where they would be at about 10 in the morning.

Emilea stood in the living room of the reporter house. Her eyes fixated on her camera as she tinkered with some of the dials and switches. It was only ten and she could already feel her shirt threatening to stick to her back. Taking one last deep, sand free, breath she adjusted the covering for her hair and stepped out into the sun. Squinting her eyes she moved down the steps and was greeted with noise from the base. Trucks moving, men yelling back and forth about...whatever it was they were yelling about. Keeping her head low she walked towards the gate to leave the barrack. "Do you have your pass, Duckette?" A man in gear shouted at her as she approached. Fishing it out from between her body and her shirt she flashed him the laminated card that hung form her neck that granted her permission to move between the wall and the outside world. "Do you require a escort today?" he continued after she had proved her validity. "No, I'm just going around the town to kill some time. I've got a ride to a red zone in about an hour already set up." She called over the sound of a truck leaving the gate. The man she was speaking with nodded, "Alright, well be safe. I'll see you when you return in about an hour."

Stepping out of the gate Em made her way through the protection block, a specific distance from the population to the barrack wall that the army made sure was clear of all nonessential persons. As she stepped through the last gate she was almost immediately greeted with the bustle of activity that was every day life. Grasping her camera in her hands she set out for the market, it was a five minute walk and almost always had something interesting.

Michaels sat at a table a bit to the side of the Marketplace in what ever mash of syllables this place was called, he knew he had about an hour until he had to report to a superior outside of the Civilian Housing at the Base. He leaned back in the chair and had his feet up on the table in front of him, his boots as well as the rest of his uniform were crisp, both a sign of only being here for a short time and good maintenance. Michaels was for the most part enjoying the comfort of being alone in the murmur of a community, using his right hand he'd occasionally flip his knife, the Ka-Bar, catching it by the handle then the blade and so on. He looked out unto the market and saw nothing but the Muslim people whom he had come to both love and despise due to his time in Afghanistan. They had come to bother him in their unwillingness to cooperate in large part with the soldiers, and due to the fact that he was fighting them, he saw them as cowardly people. after about a minute or two he stopped flipping and stared pensively at something he had deemed to be out of the ordinary, a western civilian walking into the market, she was a sort of breath for fresh air in the area as all he saw were either men or on occasion some women covered head to toe in fabric almost always wearing a man at their side. He could tell within an instant that she was a reporter of photographer of some sort, after quickly noticing this he was done with his taking in the sights of the market. He then refocused his attention to his knife and continued to flip, this war as the men in the barracks seemed to explain it was no more different than the one in Afghanistan, another war in the sand against some Ragheads who are too cowardly to fight out in the open. He made his mind drift from such thoughts, this was his time to relax so he wiped it from his mind and once again found the comfort of the hum of civilian life.

The blades of the blackhawk chopping through the air caused James to feel a sensation of bliss. How he loved the feel of the vibrations, the sound of the propellers, and the smell of the diesel that accompanied him wherever he went. He had just dropped several care packages to his brothers fighting the good fight on what many would refer to as the front lines. Sure it got a bit dicey as the enemies anti-aircraft guns launched volleys of .50 cal bullets at his bird, but that was something he had dealt with nearly everyday for the past 3 years.

On the horizon he could see the small town coming into view, it was a sight that always put him on edge for two reasons. First enemies could be hiding anywhere in the hodgepodge of buildings, waiting with an rpg to blast him out of the sky, or at least try to. Secondly because it meamt his flight was nearing its end. Luckily he had heard ln his way in that he had another drop in a little under an hour.

As he neared the base he flicked his radio to contact the base. "delta base this is Foxtrot 32-3 requesting permission to land, over" a few seconds of silence went by as they checked his credentials, followed shortly by the scratchy sound of the operators voice "roger that foxtrot, put her down on pad A-3, welcome home boys." after his transmission was finished James switched to the intercom in order to address the six marines on board. "alright boys get some chow and shake the sand outta yer boots. Be ready to leave at 18:00." a series of groans and jeers filled the cabin as the blackhawk touched down whipping up a small sandstorm.

Em took her couple shots to keep herself entertained, as she turned a corner she spotted a man in American camo sitting at a table. Lifting her camera she snapped a couple shots of the unnamed individual. As she turned her eyes to the screen of the device she was greeted with a soft beeping. The alarm on her watch was going off alerting her that she had somewhere to be. Quickly silencing it before the beeping upset individuals nearby she readjusted her head covering using her reflection in a mirror of a near by stand and took off back to the base. Flashing her pass to the guard who asked her for it earlier he said "Welcome back, Duckette. Your ride just landed, the area has also been upgraded so you'll have an additional escort as they're no longer actively patrolling the region. I suggest making sure your wearing your ballistic vest. Emilea gave a thankful nod, swinging by the house to collect her bag and securing her vest across her chest she headed towards the heli pad where she would meet the two who were unfortunate enough to have to waste their day with her errands.

James returned from the mess hall finding the reporter waiting by the helipad. He approached with a smile, extending his hand. "i take it your the cargo for this trip? Pleasure to meet you maam, im Captain Stryker, but most call me Bart." before he made it to shake her hand however he stopped to flag down another nearby soldier."find sergeant michaels, hes on security detail." the soldier nodded and jogged off towards the town. "so whats your name ma'am?" he asked turning his attention back to Emilea, his southern drawl making it very easy to pick out his origin.

Michaels had made it only a moment later, he had already been on his way to the pad having expected it and prepared for it. Arriving on the situation, Michaels kept a firm posture and just proceeded quietly to the side of the conversation, he kept his distance. He held the M16A4 at a 45 degree angle in his front, clearly he seemed very rigid and prepared for anything to happen, he seemed sort of like how someone would expect a standard soldier would. He was paying attention to see if he could grab any relevant information from the conversation, taking further glances at the two he knew the pilot was in the Army and that the Reporter was the one that she had saw beforehand.

Seung Jun

Dashing his way from one spot to the next while stationed at the military base for his own protection as a photographer, a young Korean male had constantly been snapping photos of one soldiers after another; whether they were severely injured, mildly, or even just standing on guard duty. This was all new to the young male; of course, after being stationed outside of the United States for several months now, one would've already expected to had been used to his surroundings and finding injured soldiers or just seeing the constant fighting between American soldiers and the enemy should've been normal by now, but to Seung; no matter how much he had seen the fighting, it was all still so interesting to him. There were times that even if the guards of the outpost had warned him as well as other reporters not to leave the safety of the outpost, Seung would completely disregard the warnings just to leave and take photos of the enemy as well as even taking photos of their home towns.

Paying far too much attention to his surroundings for taking photos, when the sudden sounds of whirling blades had began to make an entrance into the outpost had began to arrive; the mild dust storm that it caused only brought a bit of annoyance to the photographer just because it had caused the lens on his camera to become covered in dust to make any shot he did horrid. However though, when actually taking his attention towards the source of the sound and the dust storm; the sight of the massive helicopter only brought further interest into Seung at the magnificent sight of the machine, pushing aside soldiers that stood in his way without so much as the slightest bit of an apology, Seung only began to rush up towards the large flying machine just to begin taking photos everywhere he could.

It wasn't until after taking the several photos that the sounds of chatter could be heard from the opposite side that Seung was currently taking photos of the large machine that it seemed the pilot and some other reporter were over there speaking with one another. 'Maybe I can get them to take me along...I can only imagine the things I can find.' Coming up with the thought, the male photographer wasted no time to rush around the helicopter just to approach the male and female that were speaking with one another. "Sir, madam. I'd like to ask...would you happen to be leaving the outpost anytime soon? If so, would it be too much to ask if I may join you on this helicopter as well? There must be hundreds of things out there that I must take photos of. Please, I shall be of no nuisance to either of you on whatever you must do." Even though the Korean male might've ended up butting into a conversation that was in progress at the time, the photographer was far too interested and was at the point that taking 'no' for an answer was clearly not going to work well with him at the time.

Stepping out from a massive hole from the side of a mountain that appeared to had been large enough to fit two blue whales together into it, one male made his way down a rocky path; his attire consisted of a large brown ragged old cloak that he had kept the hood over his head even though the sun was beating down onto his head to no end. Showing no signs of exhaustion let alone overheating from his clothing, the male had only halted once had had reached the base of the rocky path just to bring his gaze upwards and to reveal that his eyes had not been seen due to them being hidden underneath some black blindfolds that he kept over both of his eyes. Although his vision appeared to had been blocked by the blindfolds at first appearance, the truth was that he could still easily see everything that was in front of him clearly. At first, to his left he had seen what appeared to had been a large town while to his right was what looked to had been a military outpost of sorts; both of which were large distances away and was going to take him quite the long walk to be able to make it to either one.

Rather than even beginning to think of making his way in either direction though, the unknown male had simply exhaled a deep sigh before planting himself down onto the dirt and rocky floor with his legs stretched out wide. "Man, that walk...was long enough. Now I must continue to walk more? Who would've thought...after all these years. These 'humans' have been able to survive this long. Thought for sure they'd go extinct by now. They sure are an interesting bunch..." Speaking to himself, the male only turned his attention for a moment over his shoulder just to take a glimpse at the massive hole in the mountain once again; within the hole was a large path that lead down underground several thousand feet that would eventually reach the old ancient city of where this male was born and raised at, after all this time; with how the planet adjusted, everything now was buried underneath the soil and overgrown by nature down below but yet the male still went down to revisit his home every so often.

"Emilea" She said, making a move to shake the mans hand. Seeing another walk over she eyed the gun cautiously. Though understanding it was only going to be used for her protection and seeing as she had been surrounded by such weaponry for the past few months she was still however uncomfortable with the close proximity of the weapon and how comfortable the man seemed to be holding it. "Well, I hate to sound like I'm giving orders but I do have a deadline, so perhaps we can get to it then?" She said before she jumped into the helicopter. It wasn't her first experience in one, nor was it her first go at a red zone. She lifted her head when she heard another voice and was greeted by the sight of Seung, though he has taken no effort to learning her own name she unfortunately knew his. "uuuhh.." she started, glancing to the two other men she turned her eyes back to Seung. Obviously annoyed by his request she spoke "We're leaving right now, but you need a ballistics vest and a proper pass so I guess if you have those.." she trailed. Cursing her politeness.

In reality she would of much rather of told him 'no' and to properly 'fuck off' as she was the one who jumped through all the loops to get a proper escort to the zone, however manners were manners and she unfortunately for this moment had them. Turning her eyes to the pilot she gave a weak shrug and returned her attention to securing her bag that contained her cameras in the storage netting and resumed preparing herself for the flight out. Mentally kicking herself for not acting on her more aggressive desires.

Michaels had gotten into the helicopter after Emilea, taking a front facing rear seat on the right side of the copter, he took a look a Emilea, who was petite and rather young looking, gave a nod, a half smile, and said simply, "Ma'am". Sitting down Michaels checked his gear, checking that it was all on properly, checking the receiver to make sure there are no potential jams and that they were indeed loaded. Upon actually sitting down he pulled out his knife again and fiddled with it, something he did a lot, he wasn't sure if it was nerves or boredom, perhaps it was just the pure comfort he felt with doing it, having done so for years. He wanted to leave as soon as possible and to him it seemed as if this other report was slowing it down, he didn't care if they came just that it happened soon, he wanted to be doing something.

Once the sergeant was in place captain james nodded to him to acknowledge his presence. Upon seung's arrival he looked to both the sergeant and to emilea, unfortunatly he misread her signals. "roger that civi" he said as he grabbed the radio, "Barracks i need a balistics vest to helipad A-3." he noticed emelia hoping into the blackhawk so he followed suit, climbing into the cockpit.
As michaels took his seat, James flipped several switches and ran the diagnostics on the chopper before he put on the helmet and addressed his passengers.
"alright everyone this is gonna be a pretty smooth flight for the most part. Ill let you know when we enter the red zone, when we enter the red zone all civilians are to take seats away from any windows and buckle up. Sergeant Michaels here is your security officer, he asks you to duck id suggest doing so." the intercom crackled as he turned it off, as the soldier arrived with the balistics vest for the photagrapher. Moments later the blades were turning, and the chopper began to climb slowly.

Emilea watched as a man ran over with a vest and glanced to her pilot, softly under her breath she muttered one of the few Arabic words she had learned in her stay so far (She was still working on how to ask for a beer) "al'abalah" she whispered as she turned to take a seat. It was a word many of them heard within their first month in the country, she had quickly learned from one of the market women that it meant idiot. Going against his wishes she buckled herself in on a seat next to the door and pulled the aviation headset communicator on, as she early thought this wasn't her first rodeo and the area they were going to wasn't one of active fire which she thought was odd that it was then marked as a red zone. She looked to Michaels, her eyes daring him to tell her to move.

She missed having her old pilot, he let her do whatever she wanted no question and typically without argument. She was pretty sure his motto was "Whatever makes the girl happy, but if she dies it'll be from her own decisions." Which always made her feel a little confused in the fact she was unsure if he actually cared about her or not. Leaving one of her cameras strapped around her neck she grabbed the neck of her vest and leaned back in her seat. "Ready." She spoke into the communicator, her foot blocking the door to allow it to close. "And I want this open." she stated.

Even after asking permission to join the crew of soldiers as well as with the female reporter upon their travels into the unknown regions of an area that was outside of this military base, the sight of the female wasting no time to climb aboard brought no real concern to Seung as well as the other soldiers, such as the one that the pilot whom Seung was asking permission from had been speaking with moments ago. Being approved in a matter of moments as the man before him began to call forth on his radio for something called a 'ballistic vest', it took only minutes for a female soldier to arrive with a vest in hand as she had handed it straight to the male photographer. "Oh, this is new." Right before actually taking hold of the vest; Seung had made sure to take a photo shot of the vest before actually taking it and beginning to strap it onto his own body. Sure, it was heavy but this was all for the sake of taking photos of things he hadn't been able to see outside of the safety of the base so he was just going to have to deal with it.
Climbing aboard soon after strapping on the vest, the photographer had made sure to take a seat right across from the female before beginning to bring his attention upon the very same man who had allowed him to join along on this trip. Listening to all the different instructions of what was going to be happening on the flight as well as the warnings of staying away from the windows once they reached what seemed to be called the 'red zone', Seung had eventually raised a single arm as though he held a question for the pilot. "Um, will we be able to take photos at some point once we enter this...'red zone'? Since if we're not allowed to be near the windows, how will I take my shots?" Clearly enough, even though the warnings were probably for his own safety and that of others, the photographer seemed much more interested in taking his photoshoots rather than caring for his own or others lives apparently.
As the sounds of the blades whirling above the large helicopter could be heard in a matter of minutes, the sight of the side door being unable to shut soon brought Seung's attention away from the soldier straight upon the reporter who seemed to disapprove of allowing the metal door to shut for some reason. It wasn't like Seung cared too much though, as long as the window was clear enough for his shot, whether the door would be open or not was of no concern.

Cyrox
Still sitting in the same spot the entire time for several minutes, turning his attention back upon the two large destinations that were still before him. The hooded male soon began to help himself back up to his own two feet just to decide that it was probably best that he at least had began to move in one direction rather than to stay sitting there thinking and debating. For the time being, the hooded male had come to decide that he was going to head straight for the town that was within the distance rather than the military outpost. After taking several steps forward though, Cyrox had come to an immediate halt before turning to his side to face the large hole in the mountain yet again, extending his right arm forward towards it and opening his palm, slowly but surely soon enough mist had began to form around the interior as well as around the exterior of the hole as a thick layer of solid ice had began to form from around the edges as well as from the ground upwards to seal the entrance into the mountain completely. Even with the scorching heat of the country that he resided in, the ice that had been formed around the hole showed no signs of melting whatsoever as it only left off the cold mist from all around it as though it were dry ice. "Perfect."
With the protection to the entrance into the mountain that would lead into his old home city done, Cyrox was able to once again turn his direction back to the large town that was within the distance; yet again though, another thing had caused him to halt in his movements just to come and find what had appeared to had been a large machine was slowly rising up into the air from the military base. Arching a brow from underneath his blindfolds, Cyrox only stood there watching the strange machine to see what it would do as well as where it would go before he decided to actually move forward any further.

Upon seeing Seung raise his hand Emilea let out a rather audible groan. "Red zone pictures can be taken when we land. They recommend the doors be closed and use away from the windows upon entry for protection from various things like bullets if we're low enough to the ground or general safety in RPG encounters. It's a lot harder to hit your head during evasive techniques if it's not near anything to hit it on." She looked the boy over and unbuckled herself, allowing her to lean forward in the seat she reach over and pulled the straps on his vest to tighten them to his body and secured the buckles of his harness and pulled every strap that needed to be to make him one with the seat. "These are the things they go over before they let you up here. Which makes me think you're not allowed." she whispered when she was close to him. "General rule is sit down and shut up, safety first, pictures second. It's a lot of paper work if you die." Aggressively pulling the last strap she moved herself back into her seat and fastened her own buckles like a professional. If he's going to come along she thought might as well do what I can to prevent him from dying.

Sitting in her seat, she resumed the position she had been previously to Seung breaking the verbal silence of the helicopter which now was lifting into the air. Pieces of her hair beginning to fly around and dance over her face was a sign that things were finally moving and with a push of her foot she slide the door open to show Seung the reason she wanted it to stay open. The view was incredible. "Aerial shots better than you've ever dreamed of." she said through the mic without turning her head from the view, a hint to Seung to lift his camera and click away.

At Emilea's comments and snark Michaels gave a few smirks, he was genuinely shocked by the fact that she was casually going off on the civilian in front of her, also surprised by the fact that she seemed to be in charge in the situation of the two. He was amused by her, after sitting in silence he grew a bit restless and decided to pick up a conversation with the cheeky civilian "Ma'am," he gave her time to realize that he was talking to her, "since you clearly aren't as..." he pause to think of the word, "new as burn bag here," nodding towards Seung, "I'd like to know where you were embedded before here?" his last few words gave a hint of a southern drawl something he had for the most part lost on duty.

The flight from base to the drop point was pretty smooth. At one point there was a small group of enemies, but they simply wasted ammo firing their assault rifles at the chopper. Only one or two bullets even hit the blackhawk, and they simply bounced off of the hulking iron bird uselessly. James hadnt flown three miles before he lit up one of his cigars, fortunately he seemed to have good taste, as the smoke was a surprisingly pleasent aroma.

It was a little over fourty minutes before they reached the edge of the "red zone". Flipping the switch to the intercom he addressed the others. "Alright we are entering the red zone, buckle up because it it bound to get a little bumpy, please keep away from the doors and windows, expect heavy enemy fire." almost as if on cue a small barrage of low caliber bullets ripped across the side of the chopper, busting one of the windows but otherwise doing no real harm. James waited until he was sure everyone had time to put on their harnesses before he began to respond to the fireing. Puing back and to the left on the joystick the chopper began to climb while leaning to the left. Another barrage of bullets just narrowly missing the chopper. Tilting the stick in the opposite direction, the chopper jolted and began lowering altitude while arcing towards the right. Sure enough a rocket propelled grenade came whizzing towards the tail of the chopper. Yet james had seen the culprit before he had fired and managed to turn the chopper 180 Degrees taking the tail out of the line of fire.
Before the enemy could reload james had already pushed forward. Leaving the shitshow behind he came upon the forward operations base that a couple hundred allied soldiers had set up. "thank you for flying air army, we appreciate your continued patronage." he said laughing at his own joke over the intercom. He was trying to make light of the situation but couldnt help but note that his heart was beating as fast a machine gun.

As the large helicopter began to rise higher and higher up into the air; the sight of the door that kept those within had seemed to remain slightly open the entire time while the Korean photographer continued to wait for an answer from the soldier that he had asked the question about the 'red zone' and whether or not he'd be able to take pictures of any sorts. It hadn't taken long right after asking the question that the female reporter had decided to be the one to speak up immediately to explain about the safety precautions about staying away from the door and windows once they reached the area; of course, it didn't take a genius to figure out the tone in her voice was one that wasn't exactly the type of a kind person or at least not that it appeared to be towards the photographer. As she had assisted him into his own seat by buckling the straps down around his vest to keep him seated, Seung only kept his gaze towards her as he nodded at one statement after another, of course the woman would know much more about this then the young photographer since he hadn't been trained let alone done the study he needed to before climbing aboard the helicopter to head into an area he was unknown about but yet; to Seung, none of it mattered as long as he was able to take his photos.

Once the helicopter had reached the proper altitude to begin flying off towards the destination it was set for, with the door sliding open with a loud metallic bang only to reveal the massive terrain of open land; Seung wasted no time to take the opportunity he had to begin taking one photoshoot after another of everything that was outside. The sight of amazement plastered straight across his face to the point that he had been completely unaware of the comment the other solider nearby spoke about him towards the reporter. There were even times as they fly over the enemy troops from far below that Seung was even able to take a few shots of them before they had gone out of sight from the speed and maneuvers of the helicopter.
It wasn't until the same soldier from earlier speaking up about staying away from the windows and door now as well as buckling down to everyone's seats that Seung finally pull themselves away from the open door to firmly press his back against the metal wall that lead to the cockpit on the opposite end. With the sounds of gunfire immediately beginning to burst towards the sides of the helicopter, all the photographer could do was hold onto his seat and make sure to keep his head tilted downwards to keep the strap of his camera from slipping off from around his neck. Panting heavily once the gunfire and threat had finally ended, the photographer could only keep his eyes shut as he simply reached a single hand to place against his chest to calm his own breathing; even if he hadn't been the one flying the helicopter, the new sensation of being shot at and having a chance at death was something he wasn't exactly used to.

Standing in the middle of the rocky path the entire time while the hooded male watched the large flying machine rise up into the air higher and higher by the second, Cyrox could only stand there and watch as the machine soon began to fly off into the direction of the town that he had originally been walking towards to begin with. Arching a brow at the sight of this, he soon began to move forward towards the town as well once more, things were becoming rather interesting and it wasn't like the hooded male had anything else better to do at the time being. When the sudden sounds of an explosion followed by several gunshots in the distance came to his attention, Cyrox had immediately brought his eyes back towards the bright blue sky only to see that the large flying machine was being shot at. The humans were fighting one another, it seemed that no matter how long or where Cyrox seemed to go, this new race that inhabited the world only saw one another as enemies all the time; they were of the same blood, even if some looked different from others by their skin color, their culture or even their clothing, but yet they attacked one another like they had been enemies for all of time."These beings...are so strange..." Stating the fact of what he saw, even though the flying machine seemed to be able to survive the onslaught of bullets and the explosion; it seemed to had decided to land nearby. So, with the sight of this; Cyrox simply began to make his way in the direction that he had seen the machine land.

Of course, although it had taken quite some time for the hooded male to finally reach the town; by the time he did though, it appeared that there were two figures who stood at the entrance into the town. Both of which wore clothing that covered themselves from head to toe, even covering up most of their faces as they held rifles as though they were ready to kill anything they saw was worth killing. Once the two figures had spotted the hooded male who stepped closer without any hesitation, they immediately raised their rifles and shouted out in their own language to demand for him to stop and identify himself, without so much as a response to the figure, Cyrox only continued forward in silence before they had began to immediately open fire on the unknown male. As the bullets sped through the air at full speed, yet again; Cyrox had only extended his arm just to open his palm as a solid block of ice formed in the center of his palm just to take each bullet into it and cause everyone of them to drop onto the ground with one click after another.
Seeing as their rifles had become nothing more than useless tools against the unknown enemy, the two figures immediately turned their backs to the hooded male before running off into the town to warn their other troops about the figure that had been approaching. All the while, once the humans had left the entrance; Cyrox had only lowered his arm to allow the block of ice to fade away before continuing further into the town in hopes to find that flying machine.

Jacob was in a rush. He was super late, and he needed photos. He rushed out of the base, showing the guard his ID as he ran. He was still getting his shirt buttoned as he spotted an abandoned car not too far off, taking a picture before going away from it, wince it could be an IED. He took several other pictures, finally relaxing after a while. He hadn't seen the Canadian or the Korean reporter yet. He liked the Canadian, she was pretty nice, though he was always way too busy to talk much with her.

Emliea looked over her camera to Michaels and he spoke. "I was born on a farm in Canada, I have three older brothers, and I chose to join a profession in a field which remains dominated by men. I work in countries dominated by men. I've learned pretty quickly how to handle myself as a woman." She lifted her camera to her face and snapped a couple shots out the door as they entered the zone. "This is my second time in country. First time I was here for about four months then had to leave due to visa issues. So I transferred to Afghanistan for two months and came back. I've been in country for three months so far this round."
As the pilot made some rougher evasions, Em took a lean back in her seat and grabbed a hold of one of the bars above her head for support. After a few moments a weak joke to cover the situation was cracked over the intercom as they began to make their descend back to the Earth. She glanced over to Seung and couldn't help but smirk at the expression of panic across his face. Unbuckling herself she gave him a quick pat on the shoulder. "you'll get used to it." she said before hoping gracefully out of the helicopter.

A poof of dust and sand came up as her feet made contact and blew upwards, it was windier than they told her it would be. Pulling her bandanna off her head and changing it from a headband to a mouth covering she turned around and snapped a couple photos of Michaels as he climbed out of the helicopter after her. Smirking underneath her covering she turned the camera to him for him to see the image of an overly serious man in front of a war machine. "Thanks for not killing me by the way." She shouted to her pilot as she saw him bringing himself out of the helicopter. "Always a good way to start a journey." With that she was off, jogging ahead of the men when she knew she was supposed to be behind them. The tiny town in front of her seemed to lay forgotten in the aftermath of war. Crumbling buildings, with signs of loss of life. How odd She thought as she listened. The area was silent. She took more steps forward before turning back to the men. "If this is a red zone, shouldn't we be hearing gun fire?" she shouted. The first answer that came to her mind after she asked her question would be that the people who would be cause of gun fire were hiding. But they didn't let reporters into areas that they didn't have at least some control over, and it if was a red zone with no control, they would of sent her with more than two men. She turned her eyes back the scene. "something is very wrong with this." she muttered.

Michaels had listened to her giving her very brief story and answer of the question, afterwards he remained relatively quiet until the helicopter landed, when the civilian hit the ground he almost immediately hopped out, a tuft of arid dirt flew up about a foot under his weight. He crunched his way over to the reporter who was full of zeal and letting it be known to practically anything within a klick of their location. Approaching behind her he put his hand on her shoulder for but a moment in order to get her attention, "Ma'am, no offense but if something is wrong shouting it to the heavens is not the way to ensure your own safety or that of... err... your colleague. I'm going to need you to stay by the Helo until I motion forward that it's safe, and be ready to leave in a moment's notice." he was holding his tongue for the most part right now, he knew that his normal language set off the average civilian. He moved cautiously forward his guard up looking both to the city and on the ground until he came to a small deposit of rocks, they were among a few long tufts of grass in the pale dirt. He stopped for a moment to get a feel on the town in front of him, the dirt moved with the wind, he couldn't see any footprints or tracks, there were no vehicles that looked like they worked in the town, if there were people in this city they should have attacked by now, he thought to himself. He and the two civilians with the pilot were easy picking for even two well placed gunmen, but he could see no sign of movement, no sign of life. He then picked up three rocks and threw them in three angled directions towards the city making sure they skipped, he then watched for movement, gunfire, an IED explosion, for anything to happen really.

Seung Jun

Carefully as the large helicopter had finally began to land into the red zone, with the door already being opened the entire flight there; once the machine had began to descend from the skies to the ground, rocks and dust all began to blow away from where the helicopter came down due to the immense force of the whirling blades coming to a slow halt. Even with the pat upon his shoulder as a slight bit of comfort from the female reporter after it was clear enough his anxiety over the fact of being shot at, the Korean photographer only took a few more moments to fully catch his breath before turning his attention towards the exterior of the helicopter. Luckily, since Seung was the type to be over concerned about being dirty; with the small cloth that he normally wore over his lower half of his face, the dust that swirled all around the surrounding area was of no concern to the photographer.
Simply hopping right out of the side of the helicopter, the sight of the red zone truly was something that Seung had never seen before; although there was no gunfire echoing around from how dangerous it sounded on the way here, the buildings clearly showed signs of long if not recent battles, some had missing chunks of cement missing from corners, others having large gapping holes in them while there were even some that looked as though they were on the verge of collapsing. Of course, Seung had made sure not to miss this opportunity to begin taking photos of these buildings from where he stood; usually he wouldn't show any kind of care and just rush off blindly to go searching for more things to take photos of, however after being explained a bit about this area and all the gunfire that occurred on the way into the area, at the very least the Korean photographer was able to use a bit of his common sense not to go blindly into death just yet.

Cyrox

After ridding his sight of the two figures who had attempted to kill him at the entrance of the town; Cyrox had continued his way forward into the interior of the town while he turned his attention from one side to the next only to find destruction and chaos all around him. The sight of the buildings nearly on the verge of collapsing, the small stands of where people once sold food, doors that once lead into people's homes; all destroyed and left in ruins. The sight of this reminded the hooded male far too much of his old home city that was now buried deep underground and it only made him sick since he began to consider the human race just like the hunters that killed his kin thousands of years ago. As the silence ran through the town, the only bits of noise that came echoing through the believed 'empty' buildings were rapid footsteps, rocks and debris falling all around Cyrox; there was no doubt that the two figures that retreated earlier were setting up an ambush for this stranger who decided to practically walk into the middle of a war zone.
By the time Cyrox had reached what had appeared to be a small opening area of the town that he came to believe was the center since it was circular with a small dried up fountain in the center, the hooded male only approached the fountain that once had an angel spilling water from a vase that she held in both her hands which had now been missing half the entire statue and only remained her lower half of her body and her legs, the rest of the pieces had been shattered and scattered all around the area from all the fighting that occurred here. "How...upsetting." With that, Cyrox soon began to kneel over the front of the fountain only to place his palm upon the edge of it; soon, a thin layer of white mist began to form over the top of where the water once sat within the fountain as water surely began to fill from the base of the fountain to the very top till the once dried fountain had began to once more be filled with crystal clear water.

Letting a smile spread across his lips at his own actions, the instant Cyrox had began to stand once more though; the sound of a rocket ejecting itself from the back of a launcher immediately broke the silence that was once in the area only to have the rocket coming speeding through the air towards the hooded male from behind. Surely, Cyrox was easily able to dodge something as simple as this mortal weapon being fired at him from behind, though it would also mean that it would cause the destruction of the fountain completely if he were to move out of the way. So, with the dangerous weapon coming directly towards him from behind; the immediate action that Cyrox had decided to take upon himself was to quickly drop the temperature of his surroundings immensely till the water within the fountain began to freeze over in mere seconds as well as even begin to coat over the rocket that neared him in solid ice. Although the weapon had been covered in a thick layer of ice to become less of a threat and not cause immediate explosion from hitting it's target, once the rocket had touched the ground and the temperature returning once more to normal; the surrounding mortals who attempted to ambush him showed no signs of stopping their attacks as they began to open fire onto the hooded male as well as firing at the rocket to cause it to explode right in front of Cyrox.
Luckily, this hadn't been the first time that Cyrox had to do battle with enemies with such weaponry let alone with explosions so this wasn't instant death for the male; but still it did cause his ragged old cloak to become tattered even further as well as forcing his hood right off to reveal his black blindfolds as well as his platinum white hair to his enemies who still showed no mercy. The most Cyrox could do at the moment was just take cover behind a building for the time being, it was obvious that Cyrox could've easily killed these men and women although he did not wish to since he did not want to become a murderer just as his kin was by beings they did not know as well.

Once he exited the chopper he knew command would be passed to michaels, he was the field expert after all. Reaching back into the cockpit for a second he pulled the Ump-45 submachine gun from the side of the seat and walked in the back of the room.
He whistled to Sergeant michaels he signaled that he heard explosions towards the left, and gestured with his weapon that they should engage. He knew he couldnt take off again until a good portion of the surrounding area was secure. Turning to the reporters he grined, "turn your flash off if you wouldnt mind." he said in a low voice as he waited for the sergeants orders.

Michaels backed up the way he had come when he saw and heard nothing form his previous test, and made his way to the helo pilot. He gave a motion that the pilot and only the pilot move with him, and he began to make his way slow and low towards the direction of the commotion, before stopping and telling the man, "see if you can find a reasonable vantage point that way." he pointed left, "but not too far, stay in earshot, I'll be moving this way." pointing right,"You got that?" he would wait for a nod then be off into the direction only about 20 steps to try and see what was occurring and to make sure they were safe.
