Futuristic Agent of Maniacles OOC and Characters

So. It depends how it was done.

I've been in rps were dying is highly potential either because you chose the wrong option or you were plain stupid and decided to run it down. This was as opposed to pointing a god finger and be like "okay you die now"

I actually had in mind to kill characters that acted stupid in this rp to keep everyone on their toes. The rp was wrenched from my grasp though, in the Weaboo Revolution of September 2019

I've got a backup boi ready to go for here. His name is Jeremiah. Don't yank me for the sanguimancy, Jeremiah comes from a DxD roleplay I did way back when

Okay, I'm gonna pitch something. It's just some shit I'm fiddling with. Maybe RP. Maybe novel. Maybe nothing. This is the concept in how it would function as an RPG. So let me know what you all think. Rough draft. So ya know? It's not done. A lot of it liable to change. Also, by the way it's okay if any of you don't like it or aren't feeling. I love a good critique. I've just always been fascinated by the 'deadly game' concept.

I'm going to be using the number thirteen here since there are thirteen players here on this thread. Well, fourteen counting me, but ...well you'll see. I do have some doubts this could work as a game, but we'll see.

THE GAME

The setting - present day in a major city. Thirteen Players = thirteen characters. Nobody joins passed what the game starts with.

Opening

Your character awakes to find themselves in a cell. This cell they are in is beside and across from other cells. You don't know how you got there. The other cells are dark. So dark you can't see who is in the other cells, but you can hear them. Some are shouting, some are talking, some are silent, but clearly breathing.

Now, who are you? Were you a famous baseball player? Mob boss? Accountant? Soldier? High Schooler? Assassin? Teacher? Doctor? I'm saying this to say that your character can be whatever they want, but fact is you've found yourself here.

Whoever has done this keeps you all waiting. An hour. Maybe two. Then...a door opens. Men enter. They tell you what's up. Every man and woman in that room, in those cells, want something. A thing they can't have. They have a desire. One that only money or resources can buy. And these men have money and they have resources.

What happened to you? What's your desire? (I'm planning to expand or change this aspect a lot more in whatever form this project would take. But for now just assume these men have something your character wants or the means to get it. I also may change the prisoner part and just have them offer a chance in the competition. We'll see)

Anyway these men tell you what you will do.

Thirteen people.
Thirteen days.
312 hours.

The thirteen characters will engaged in competition with one another for those thirteen days. Each day will be a different task. A task lasts for exactly one 24 hour period (although I may change it to 23 hours which would put the overall competition time at 299 hours...I think. One hour for rest period). None of these are official, but for example....

One task a joint bank robbery, but each person must attempt to get away with the loot and whoever has the most money at the end of that 24/23 hour period would be considered the winner.

Perhaps another day forces you to kidnap a high level target. One team plays the role of kidnappers and another players the role of defense? The game ends when the target is either successfully kidnapped and ransomed or out of the city.

I can get more creative as I continue to develop it, but that's the point. Thirteen days of grueling fast paced and hard hitting work that nobody sane would ever consider involving themselves in. Now you're probably wondering how in the hell can a group of normal pull off shit like that?

Here is the catch. The people who have done this....set all this into motion have given the thirteen characters an ace in the hole. Vials. The vials are see through, tube like, with various colors in them. Liquids. Each one with the name of a different mythological deity or figure on it. When you drink you will be granted an ability or two. A power. The vials have the names of gods cause the abilites correspond with certain things that myth figure was known for.

So the vial with 'Lucifer' or 'Satan' on it may give you the ability of lying. Not just any lying, but a lie with such a powerful suggestion behind it that any lie you say will be believed.

The vial called 'Loki' may grant shapeshifting into other people and animals.

Those are just possibles. The vials wouldn't grant anything to insane or destructive, and usually probably lean towards passive, but they would be enough to let you get the tasks done working together,

So yeah

Would your character win and get what they want?
What is this mysterious group planning to do?
Why all this chaos for no apparent reason?
What are these vials?

Only one to find out would be to play the game

Would the vial marked "Odin" make you a master of all weapons? Like some ultimate warrior?

I just got one problem with Lucifer vial, though. Lucifer is the Angel of Light, and is never mentioned in the bible as a liar. The snake in the beginning isn't even called Satan. Satan is mentioned as a serpent... with 7 heads. His name literally means "The accuser" or "The Aversary". When you fuck up, he's the angel to accuse you of fucking up, that's about it.

Yeah I thought about that. Honestly.

But I was typing fast and I had an ability called Prince of Lies. So I was just using it as an example. Poorly maybe. But an example nonetheless. Since Satan is often called the Prince of Lies in some form or another.

A lot o the Lucifer mythos and associated for me and a lot of others comes from Paradise Lost.

In regards to the serpent, though. I always assumed that was Satan. I know it's not stated, but just a personal interpretation. I can see Satan or the serpent starting in the garden. At the time of the first sin he's a snake and by the end he's a serpent/dragon with 7 heads. It's like he's been growing in power. I know none of that is accurate btw in Biblical cannon. Just my own interpretation. I am also not fully educated enough on Biblical texts.

Only having read parts of The Bible and some of the Apocrypha

Anyway in response to TheAdept TheAdept

I'd probably just let players decided what the vial they choose does and what god name is on it. I'd then approve it or not.

I would think Loki to be a better one for the lies potion, as it was his words that got him and others in trouble. The Silver Tongue of Loki

Does the vial refill, or have a limited number of uses?

I went with shapeshifting for Loki, but the vials need not be what I stated. I mean like I said I'd let you guys pick the vial name and power. And I'd imagine they either refill or last as long as the competition. I'd have to think about it.

If you ever make it an RPG, let me know. I'll be on it like white on rice.
