Fantasy A new start(Ebony Rose)

Melody giggled softly at the childish whining that escaped Emblazia. It was adorable and a considerable difference that she liked when compared to the brooding version of herself. "All I could and ever will ask of you Blaze is that you try" she said with a gentle smile. Seeing that Jewel only grunted and turned over she pouted as her hands went to her hips in a motherly way. Her little sister was like this sometimes back home so she knew how to deal with it to some degree. "I swear if you don't get up I will not let you have some of the dessert I'm baking for us tonight."

Jewel shot up with sleepy wide eyes. "You can cook?"

Melody pouted more at the question like it was one of the wonders of the wonders of the world. "I can cook and bake" she huffed indignantly. "Do you think I got on with nothing but take out and someone cooking for me?" Her eyes cut over to the tray making her head tilt seeing the mail on the edge. She hadn't picked it up so someone must of put it there when she passed them in the hall. "You, take your meds while you eat. Let me sort the mail" she said pointing at the redheads pills on the bedside. Again, how she didn't notice them before was slightly concerning. "Junk, junk, junk, charity begging for donations... Hey Blaze, this looks pretty official. It has a stamp and addressing that says inheritance audit on it" she said coming across a thick envelope that felt like old time parchment.

Jewel munched her eggs and toast watching silently. No one broached the inheritance approach with Emblazia for fear of having a new verbal hole tore into them.

"It also has a red stamp that says urgently important."

“All three of them are dead. I hardly care to have any reminder more than necessary. Vio and Mother rest within the cathedral and its caregivers while the third isn’t even enough to be considered ashes at best.” Her tone itself managed to keep from being harsh in sharpness yet still short. Emblazia clearly tried to get her point across while hoping to avoid triggering the stormy moods brought out by the subject.

However, knowing that Melody might be more than a little curious, she did give a vague explanation. “Mother’s people. Only contact is occasional phone calls with an uncle. He’s ok I guess except when for some reason using a unusual title with me. Can’t recall it but it just sounds too proper.”

"It was left by your mother though, aren't you the least bit curious?" Melody asked turning the envelope over in her hands. Not only was the envelope thick but there was a decent weight to it to. A third turn over saw something shimmer into existence on the back flap. "Banphrionsa an Fhómhair... My irish is rusty but if I remember my grandmothers lesson that means... Autumn Princess, that mean anything to you Blaze?" she asked. She wanted to ask why the words suddenly appeared but that could wait. She'd seen weird stuff happen around her before so while this was weirder than previous times, it wasn't too much weirder.

Emblazia somewhat flinched, glad for her unusual ears being covered by her hair unless either damp or updo. She had always had a subconscious understanding of being different, instinctively hiding her physical oddities with mixed results. However hearing the foreign tongue in person proclaiming the title aloud made the woman uneasy. “Autumn Court of the Fae title of nobility. Uncle keeps saying that the likelihood of my blood showing up as normal is very slim.”

Melody's eyes widened a little in surprise. Forgetting the letter for a moment by putting it down, she reached a hand toward Emblazia and cradled her cheek gently . The tips of her fingers felt the elf-like points making her eyes widen a bit further. With the gentlest of pushes she made it so their eyes met and the hair hiding the redheads ears was out of the way exposing it to her eyes. To call her girlfriend beautiful was understatement but that word now paled seeing her like this. A gentle kiss was laid upon Emblazia's lips as she let her eyes flutter closed. Fairies were rumored in the myths of old to be the fairest and most beautiful of the woodland creatures, now she would forever agree. "Blaze, you are my girlfriend and I love you but you have to do this. Your inheritance is on the line. You don't want to lose the things left to you by your mother do you? I will go with you if you want. I will hold your hand the entire time if that is what you need. But don't let her last act of love for you be squandered" she whispered softly against the redheads lips as she broke the kiss.

Emblazia did kiss back even if her gemstone gaze showed what everyone else was never shown. “I’m completely terrified honestly. They probably have some idea about me otherwise why keep pushing?” She acknowledged, somewhat aware of possible reasons yet nothing solid enough to make any sense to her. “I doubt any of them will know what to do with someone used to ruling the streets of all places.” Yet the more disturbing thoughts bothering her were apparently difficult to put into proper phrasing, but the efforts are made. “I don’t just have charisma among the Fae like Mother had. If someone is able to name any supernatural able to resist even simply being content having at least vague contact, please tell me. I think even the normals are affected.”

"Charisma is charisma Blaze whether it's human or otherwise" Melody shushed gently as she nuzzled against Emblazia's cheek in a calming manner. "I believe in you. Jewel believes in you. The Hounds believe in you. If anyone can handle a couple of uppity hoity toighty fae beauracrats it's you. YOU need to believe in you and I know you can do that. You wouldn't have promised to protect and fight for me if you didn't have that confidence to do so."

Jewel fake gagged at the sugary sweetness even as her eyes shone with a light that could only be called love. A moment of immense weakness for her older sister-slash-kind of adopted mom and Melody doesn't even hesitate to jump into the the loving, calming partner position. "I'll go too if it helps. They already know about me since I'd be disappointed if they didn't have people to check out who you are most commonly with and their backgrounds. Your queen and your heir, are we enough comfort to have on hand to confront your family?" she asked after wiping her mouth.

Though she felt some nerves still, Emblazia couldn’t say the anxiety hadn’t been helped. Time would tell whether the hybrid, if even only by being sired by a human father, felt any more at home with her mother’s family than the place she made for herself among the darkened corners of society at the border of the human world. “Thanks you two. Hopefully I won’t have to do anything that might leave less than agreeable terms though. They probably just will be curious about if I’m suited to the Autumn Court and how much like Mother or not I turned out like.” She thought aloud yet one thing did make her look towards Jewel in question since the child was more knowledgeable about the topic as a whole. “Um, do you have any idea what that title is exactly? Are they calling me something more honorary or am I seriously one of the heirs?”

Jewel shrugged helplessly at the question. "You might be. You never talk about your mothers family so for all the hypotheticals in the world you could be the next heir to the seat of power in the court" the little witch said. "Or you could be one of many heirs and they're trying to size up each potential successor before selecting one. I don't know."

Melody pulled back just a little sparing a look at Jewel. If Emblazia was chosen as replacement for this court thing, would she be allowed to stay with her girlfriend? Would they allow a human to stay with her, to rule beside her, or would they wipe her memories of the redhead and send her away? A distraught look crossed her eyes. She didn't want to leave Emblazia or Jewel, they were already the center of her whole world now and thought of spending life without them made her heart clench in fear of how empty her life would be.

Emblazia cuddled more into her beloved, groaning with irritation at the response. “Mother was in close contact with the uncle I’ve been letting have phone calls from. She sent him letters as well and several times she told him about my brother and I.” She admitted, recalling both her mother’s many times recounting to the young twins about the correspondence and later her uncle’s side of the events. “I’m glad though since it likely kept her going. At the same time, you don’t tell the Fae, much less those of a court of the four seasons, that you have a child that is a living embodiment of autumn when you yourself are from there.”

"Somehow I doubt your mother had to tell them in the first place" Jewel said rolling her eyes. "If she was so well connected they probably had people watching her from the moment she left the court. They probably knew about you and your brother before your mother first told her brother about you two" she said after sipping some orange juice.

Melody looked to Emblazia with cautious eyes. "They wouldn't make me forget you...would they?" she asked softly. While it seemed Jewel understood more as a whole, she wondered if her girlfriend being of the party in question had some instinctual understanding that could put her mind at ease. "I don't want to forget you, I don't want to forget Jewel... I don't want to live my life without you two... I might just be human but..." Uncertainty stained her eyes pleading with her beloved to give her an answer to calm her.

“They won’t be trying to risk losing me if they don’t have to.” Emblazia assured, giving her a slight smile before hugging her reassuringly. She hadn’t just wanted to tell anyone about it yet she did understand that she had to start doing some explaining. “According to what little Mother did say and a few threats to my uncle if he kept being vague, I am supposed to be something they call True Season. Unfortunately I only know it’s a term for those who are described as having a personality very in tune with one of the four seasons so I guess it’s a lore thing?” She pondered, letting her know that at least old faith meant they had intentions of not trying to lose the red haired woman.

Melody pushed herself as close to Emblazia embraced her. She hoped that her girlfriend was right, life without Emblazia wouldn't be one she thought worth living. She'd heard tales of people with amnesia living sort of half lives with unexplained feelings of loss or longing for something they couldn't remember. Her eyes closed nuzzling against the redheads breath just to breathe her in. "I don't want to live without you" she said softly.

Jewel finished eating before slipping out tor let Melody and Emblazia have some time alone.

"I won't live without you Blaze... It'd kill me." Silver outlined around the embracing couple as Melody kissed Emblazia's exposed skin gently.

Emblazia hugged her close, soaking up the warmth that she had come to depend upon for comfort. “You won’t. They try and I’ll be more than happy showing them a new way of living.” She promised as she admired the color yet she also was curious. However how did one bring up a rather unusual development at likely the not best time? “I have a few very interesting friends who definitely would love helping. Also just figured out what the little miss is and that’s explained so much.”

Melody looked up a little in confusion at the last part of Emblazia's words. "The little miss? Who are you talking about Blaze?" she asked with the most curious and cutest light in her eyes. She wasn't quite sure what was circulating her girlfriends mind. Was this person significant in some way? Was what they were important? She was so confused but the warmth and the embrace she was caught in was far more important than ber confusion. Laying her head ever so gently on Emblazia's shoulder she decided to just enjoy the touch and breathe in her girlfriend. They would deal with this court stuff in due time but not right now.

“Our little Jewel. I likely did confuse you some.” Emblazia lightly chuckled while holding her and enjoying the moment. It made her rather sleepy from how comfortable she always could get with her beloved yet she doubted Melody would appreciate it after getting her awake just moments before. “Witch of all things it seems. No wonder her crafting is so perfect yet she still had been in need of someone to care for her without taking advantage of her gifts and I hardly could ever regret being able to give her the love of our strange family.” She lightly squeezed her with a hum of affection. “I love you so much Melody.”

The acknowledgement that Jewel was a witch sort of made sense. Witches in arcane lore were masters of their craft whether it was potions, enchantments or whatever branch of magic they chose to entertain. "You could never take advantage of Jewel. It isn't within your heart to abuse her gifts. You love her too much to do that." Her words were softly spoken as the embrace around her squeezed around her. Hearing the admission of love made her smile softly against Emblazia's shoulder. "I can hear it in your heartbeat. I can feel it in the pulsing of your veins under your skin. Though I have to wonder" her eyes looked up "do you love me or her more?" The question was playful with no pressure since she knew that the answer would be one to that stated in no explicit terms that she loved them both the same. Her lips trailed gently up the skin of the redheads throat before nuzzling gently. "Love you more Blaze."

“Teasing woman.” She did laugh somewhat, finding humor in the jest. Yet perhaps there had been a hint of self deprecation though none really could be certain. She then looked at her clock with a whining sigh. “I don’t want to do classes nor read anything about that stuff either. Unfortunately the envelope looks thick enough to possibly have something that I will not be satisfied with until I know what it is.” She pouted, referring to the curiosity that the childish woman never outgrew. It did have some usefulness in the right hands.

"Only a good kind of tease I promise" Melody said laughing with the redhead. The whining could be seen by many as a sort of turn off for a few reasons but it didn't bother her. She knew it was Emblazia trying to justify from herself that she should read whats inside the letter. "Just read it so we can cuddles and stuff uninterrupted." Her eyes rolled a little as she opened the letter giving her girlfriend no choice but to read it. "There, now read. I want cuddles without whining and as long as that letter goes unread I know I won't get it."

Emblazia whined a little more before finally reading everything for herself, hoping it was worth the effort. Having to read something that contained both English and Elven tongue didn’t prove difficult as one might expect. However she couldn’t yet claim her time not wasted if not for Melody promising cuddling. “Maybe I should have made Cerberus translate again just to say at least could laugh knowing I actually understand Fae.” She snickered.

"So what does it say?" Melody asked tracing a finger gently along Emblazia's skin in random shapes. A small part of her mind said she was progressing way too quickly and in the moment they could be looked upon as two lovers instead of girlfriends but that part was shut up quickly. What could require such urgency for an inheritance audit? It was just money and property right? Maybe it was an adjustment to property taxes or something. That could be classed as urgent since if there was property and that property taxes were changed Emblazia would need to know as soon as possible. A knock on the door made her scowl. "Go away Siren, we're busy. Unless this is life or death it can wait" she called with a displeased look on her face.

“Honestly, my mind just keeps zoning out. I’ve been reading page three the last several minutes.” Emblazia gave up any possibility for the moment as she sat down the documents. “This sucks. Cerberus has better things to do than translating this and paraphrasing into something short enough for me to get through.” She acknowledged before plopping her head into Melody’s chest, attempting either finding her motivation to actually read the pages or someone who she wouldn’t feel too guilty sticking with somehow helping her more easily read them.

Melody gently carded a hand through Emblazia's hair in a calming manner. "Well what did pages one and two say?" she asked in an attempt to get the redhead to focus. If she could get her girlfriend to explain one and two to her maybe it would clear enough attention for the other girl to finish reading, or at the very skimming, the last three pages of the five page letter. It was important so Emblazia needed to read it either way but being frustrated and zoning out was not going to help her cause of trying to read it. "I'd help you read it but I can't read Fae... Sorry." The apology was automatic since she did want to help her girlfriend but if even more than half of the words were in the fairy language she was useless as a ripped condom to a lust demon.

Emblazia hugged her in reassurance that she understood yet the apology unnecessary. “Um some was Uncle’s usual request for me to stop abusing my phone privileges have him listen in on inappropriate conversations that are between members of the Hounds, the actual request for me to appear somewhere GPS probably couldn’t find, the rest no clue.” She sighed, really wishing her attention span didn’t make a kid with attention disorders look as if they didn’t have one. “What creature cursed me at birth? It’s useless to try focusing on anything like this more than five minutes at best.”

"You aren't cursed, you have other more pressing things fo be mindful of. Things like your own empire and making sure it functions as it should" Melody said with a soft tone that sounded somewhat sure. A light kiss was laid upon the top of Emblazia's head as her hand kept carding softly through the red locks. "Is there anyone else who can read Fae?" she asked trying to come up with a helpful idea. If someone else could read the language it could make finding out the exact details a lot quicker to get done. "Even if GPS can't find the place me and Jewel will still go with you. Like hell you're going somewhere unknown without us there to back you up."
