Fantasy A new start(Ebony Rose)

“I don’t understand how Vio was alright even though we were both strongly more like Mother.” She admitted, never holding anything against the deceased sibling though well aware of their obvious differences in how others treated the twins. Yet she did seem to be ignored by the majority unless they were mocking, part of her network or just outright cruel without reason. While her remarkable passive talents in charisma had others unable to resist the need to be around the young woman, it seemed to do nothing about making them actually like her more or at least show common decency.

"He was a man in a mans world. Us women have to fight tooth and nail for every shred of respect that we can dig our claws into" Melody said resting her chin on Emblazia's head gently. "Legends even show the same thing. Unless you are a certain race or of certain blood the male gender will receive deferential treatment while expecting women to do everything." Her tone was less than pleased even as one eye closed. "What's taking your shadow so long? He should've figured out something by now."

Emblazia made a noise if contentment at the question while apparently half asleep. “Thanatos? I suppose it might gave him difficulty or more accurately whoever is actually translating.” She mumbled, not as bothered by his personality like many others were. If she did find something amiss, the young woman never commented l

"I swear you are part cat" Melody teased with soft laughter in her voice as Emblazia made such contented noises. Still, she didn't mind it as she nuzzled her nose into the soft red locks. "Wonder who he would sucker into translating and giving him a hard time. He is known as one of your guys right? You'd think that people wouldn't be so quick to tick off a guy working for the Queen of The Streets."

Jewel made a motion for Cerberus to leave, something that the man did without question since it seemed all was in hand. "Does kitty want some cream and a treat?" she asked with giggling tease as she curled up to Melody and Emblazia, her fingers poking her sister slash sort of adopted mom playfully.

“Oddly enough, very few people just know he exists.” Emblazia chuckled lightly, sticking her tongue out at the child in retaliation. “ I’ve seen it myself more than enough to know. He can’t be sensed except for those who are naturally sensitive enough or with training only a select few ever get considered for much less receive.” A note of pride in the talent appeared in her voice, a reminder the unusual creature and his object of his affection and devotion had many years to the bond. “Maybe he will not be much longer. If anything is slowing down his way, it is no one else except him have had much luck in getting my instrument back.”

Melody had a thoughtful look on her face until Emblazia made mention of getting her instrument back. "What instrument? Not to sound insensitive love but if its just a regular instrument why don't you buy a new one? You more than have the access to money to buy near anything you want. An instrument shouldn't even be a second thought."

Emblazia shook her head, still feeling the bite from the words despite no harm being meant. “There’s no other like it to ever exist. Mother gave it to me when our talents came in and it has been passed down to through the women based on affinity for it. The flutelike instrument itself is made from a material only used in rarest of cases and only the masters of craftsmanship can properly use it.” She explained, pulling out the only picture that she had though it was of her as a child playing the priceless creation. “Mother called it the Maiden’s Lullaby.”

Melody peered at the picture and had to admit that the instrument was beautiful in its design. That and Emblazia was cute as a kid sitting on her mothers lap holding the flute-like object. "She's beautiful." Her words were kindly said as she gently ran a fingernail over the part of the picture that had Emblazia's mother in it. It was startling to see how alike they were in looks and couldn't help wondering if her girlfriend would grow up to look more like her mother when they were both at their most matured. She certainly wouldn't mind it whatsoever. "I think she'd be just as proud of you as your brother is" she said before kissing the redhead softly for just the briefest of moments.

A soft blush colored otherwise pale cheeks as Emblazia gave one of her slight smiles. “Mother certainly deserved better than the ending life gave her. Never found anything about what reason she married him or even a clue to why leave the Faelands.” She had tried asking her uncle for answers but he simply avoided the topic or even outright refused to say anything. The phenomenon only caused a near certainty that the truth was something nearly as poisonous as the festering dread she felt towards the mystery. “Why must they be so cryptic?”

"She had her reasons for doing so but its not like we will know until a later day" Melody said with a single shoulder shrug. "If I could find out so I could tell you I would but I suspect that they'd be even less cooperative towards a human like me."

Jewel shot Emblazia a look that clearly showed her annoyance at Melody calling herself human. 'WOOD NYMPH NOT HUMAN!' she mouthed with a twitchy eyebrow.

Her failure in avoiding laughing became a snorting of sorts. Emblazia ended up giggling either way as she nodded. “You’re going to get me in trouble kid. Melody might tie me to the bed if you keep making me laugh randomly.” She apparently had skill in answering a person without someone else being able to guess correctly the true topic.

Melody pouted at not knowing what was so funny. "What is so funny?" she asked looking between the two sounding put out at being left out of the loop. "I will tie you to bed and make you my tickle prisoner if you don't tell me Blaze" she threatened shaking a finger in a quasi 'threatening' way at her redheaded girlfriend. Of course there was not a true mean bone in her body so tickle torture was her 'worst' threat to give out. Even if she did have a mean bone in her she'd never be able to hurt Emblazia or Jewel.

Emblazia held her hands in mock surrender, still occasionally lightly chuckling. “The looks Jewel were giving me. She’s pretty certain you’re part wood nymph.” She explained since Melody had more than some familiarity with the girl’s snark. “I already explained you likely will have to give plants babying for them to flourish. Like spoiled cuties.”

Melody turned her head and gave Jewel a look. "Unless there's a test that proves I'm anything but human, that's the assumption I'm working under. No offense Jewel but there has literally never in life been anything weird that happened to suggest I am anything more but human" she said shaking her head. "Besides" her gaze turned back to Emblazia "I have something else to spoil and they are not plants. I learned my lesson with that dang cactus..."

Jewel's eyebrow twitched slightly in annoyance. Melody was a damn wood nymph, her aura said so!

A dark blush came just before squeaking in response to the the comment though it soon got overshadowed by a sudden loud and well played surprise: the instruments in the music room breaking out into song at full volume. Emblazia jumped a bit at the sound before hearing cursing and yelling along with something falling. “Opps. I hope no one was training this time.”

Melody nearly jumped in surprise hearing a sudden blast of music echo throughout the safehouse. Her eyes shot down to a blushing Emblazia and raised an eyebrow wondering if her fae girlfriend did that. "That was a little...premature don't you think Blaze?" she asked wiggling her eyebrows in a playfully suggestive manner to hide the most of her surprise. the sound of falling and cursing made her eyes cut over to the door. "So what did we learn ladies? Tease her enough and music suddenly plays. Good to know, now Blaze since you made the mess you have to go clean it up."

Emblazia looked at Melody rather sheepishly before darting out the door to investigate the incident. Apparently it wasn’t the first time that the strange event happened but that she ran out so quickly certainly wasn’t the usual. Granted not as if the Hounds were taken by surprise very often either. Once she located the room she was looking for, the young woman knocked somewhat nervously. “Everything alright?”

From within the room there was a pile of jumbled limbs and bodies in a somewhat compromising way was clearly visible. The fact that Siren was in the middle with a bra strap off one shoulder was not something to be missed either. "Everything's fine, me and the boys were training" Siren said with a sheepish look on her face and the very faintest of red dusting the edges of her cheeks. She hoped that the flimsy excuse would fly by and Emblazia wouldn't dig any deeper.

"God, why does it smell like an orgy in Hell's Kitchen?" a voice complained passing the room.

Siren wanted to disappear into nothing as the red dusting became a touch more prominent.

Sighing she shook her head before closing the door. “Just make sure that you lock it before it’s opened again. I pay you guys enough for that so Jewel doesn’t get the same accident.” Emblazia commented before going back to her room. “Just Siren practicing her usual. Luckily nothing was broken.”

Melody tilted her head a little confused. "What is her usual?" she asked genuinely curious. Very few of the Hounds she had met showed obvious signs where their strengths lay and Siren said she could sing but not much else.

Jewel furrowed her brow before tilting her head the opposite way of Melody and parroted the question just as curious. She knew where most of the Hounds talent laid but not Siren. She could sing, her weapons training was really well honed and she made them a lot of money singing but her specialty was unknown to the nine year old.

“Her assets Melody. Now think about it before you ask again.” Emblazia advised, sighing at the moment. “At least her sleepover friends do pay us rent. Granted Cerberus still complains but I told him to kiss it.”

The image of the poor bastard getting told such a thing by the red haired wonder could make anyone laugh. Of course it was hilarious to imagine her using such childish language when her family had far more rough verbal usage.

"Her assets..." Melody thought it over before a look of realization crossed her face and a blush colored her cheeks. She was accepting of near every kind of lifestyle but she didn't that one as...loose as Siren's was a prime example for a child, even one like Jewel, to be around. Jewel was a genius child and while she was sure that the kid had figured out something about Siren wasn't healthy.

Jewel screwed her face up trying to work it out but came up with nothing. That alone made her pout deeply. When she heard the word sleepover however, a light flickered on in her head. "Siren's having a sleepover? Can we go join them? Pretty please with cherries on top" she said shooting a hopeful look back and forth between the two older woman.

Melody coughed into her fist, her blush darkening. "Ask Blaze, I uh.. I'm not a sleepover kind of girl" she said trying to keep as straight a face as possible.

Emblazia shook her head in response to the child. “No because I already have Hack arranging for you to get to spend the night with Rosemary and Jasmine. The twins are looking forward to seeing you again and their parents never mind long as you are well behaved.” She countered with practiced ease, knowing very well that the child would long forget about Siren in the face of getting to stay with her friends. Granted, the family of witches also enjoyed their medicinal craft to the point of being generous with their tonics.

Melody watched Jewel seemed to almost immediately forget about joining Siren's 'sleepover' when mentioning twins. Her mind kicked back that Jasmine and Rosemary must be friends of Jewel. The idea made her really happy. The little girl needed some semblance of normalcy given just how abnormal their daily life was.

Jewel beamed happily at the idea of seeing her friends and spending the night. The twin witches were fun and being around their family helped her to practice her witch abilities without the Hounds interrupting her every few minutes. She also had to admit, even if only to herself, that she really really like spending time with Jasmine. The younger of the witch twins was a lot like Melody. She was smart enough to realize that it was almost a parallel relationship to how her sister and Emblazia were; she herself was like Emblazia and Jasmine was the gentle calming voice that could more often than bring her back from the edge of anger or insanity. "Can I bring them something nice? Their mom was far too kind on my birthday and I'd feel bad about not returning the kindness" she said giving Emblazia puppy dog eyes.

Emblazia chuckled, nodding yet she felt a burst of delight in that the youth had indeed learned of returning kind deeds with the same. "Of course. How about Miss Liza getting that necklace we picked early as part of the anniversary gift? Mr. K should have already gotten that delivery of materials for finishing the remodel work of the house so that will prevent the wait any longer." She suggested, knowing the twins and her ward tended to swap gifts and mementos frequently whether special occassion or not. Taking a moment, she explained a bit to Melody while Jewel could think over if she agreed or had something else in mind. "Family of witches that do medical. Very generous and good people with lovely twin daughters. Granted, Mr. K did previously hold dealings in thievery but Miss Liza refused to let him take her to the altar unless he became something honest so he more than happily joined her family work instead. Hounds still joke of the day Klepto was lost in the face of falling in love."
