Fantasy A new start(Ebony Rose)

The comfort worked in preventing the anxiety from getting flared up as the woman thought briefly. “Hm, I don’t know if anyone else has Fae background or not.” She commented yet one idea crossed her mind that seemed better than her continuing futile efforts. Granted, it likely appeared Emblazia had lost her mind when she looked at the corner of the bedroom where the dresser and such created a dark shadow. “Thanatos, would you please help out with this? Need someone who knows Fae or the enough focus to translate since I am getting nowhere except proving mine is nonexistent.”

Melody nearly jumped suddenly seeing the man from earlier step out of the shadow with a curious expression. "How long has he been standing there?" she asked with a strained tone. Being lovey dovey when it was just her and Jewel was one thing. She was not a person like that when there was a party watching. God above, he might be loyal to Emblazia but that did not excuse creep levels of behavior like hiding in the shadows and watching them.

Thanatos merely rolled his eyes and took the papers before disappearing.

Emblazia laughed at the reaction, letting Melody get some knowledge this wasn’t abnormal per say. At least not so much that she had any privacy concerns about him. “I’m sorry for laughing at you but I can promise you he’s not going to do anything like that. He doesn’t have to be there to hear when I call.” She explained, revealing yet another supernatural being who had sworn loyalty to the self made queen of the streets. “I actually grew up with him nearly always there. It’s a somewhat long story though. Either way, even Cerberus has known me less than him.”

Melody huffed and pouted at being the butt of a joke. "Are than any other people I have to suddenly worry about appearing out of thin air or walking out of shadows? I don't do public shows" she said glaring at the shadow Thanatos had appeared out of. Any personal time with her girlfriend was meant to be just that- PERSONAL. Meaning just them and maybe Jewel. It might sound petty but she really valued privacy where she could get it. Moreso now that they were together. When Emblazia mentioned Cerberus knew her for lesser time than Thanatos she furrowed her brow. The way Cerberus interacted with Embazia reflected in a really close almost sibling like bond. How was it possible then that Thanatos was around seemingly longer than Cerberus was?

“Hardly you’ll be glad to hear. He is the only one with such permission or abilities to do that from my knowledge considering the idea.” Emblazia had a thoughtful tone in her voice, never considering the oddities her quite literal shadow might be capable of possessing. “I still was a bit young though not beyond five or six yet certainly at the most just at seven since Mother had still been alive though always hazy trying to get a good timeline.” She gave Melody a discrepancy warning just in case her memory wasn’t exactly right. At least accuracy could be better decided later. “Anyway, after enjoying napping in the garden, he popped up from the shadows very literally. For ages everyone had about decided that I was just imagining things until Vio saw him briefly one day and then Mother finally persuaded him to let her teach him basic manners. I never got told anything else about that though.”

Melody furrowed her brow at the story of how Emblazia met Thanatos. Appearing quite literally out of shadows? Playing the shy shadow until finally being caught? Those raised enough questions but why would he need to be taught basic manners? The guy was an adult that looked to be in his late twenties , early thirties at most. Basic manners and social conduct would've been drilled into him a long time ago. "And he just randomly jumps out shadows?" she asked slowly with a critical arch of her eyebrow. "He's going to scare someone half to death like that."

“Considering he’s what the supernatural world call a Shade or something similar, I can safely say that is exactly what he wants if you are not one of us.” Emblazia shrugged, though nodded at the question. “Cerberus did look him up once. It spooked the poor bastard so much he swore off ever trying to dig anything about him again. Just mentioning it makes him squirm.” She recalled vaguely though couldn’t be certain why her self appointed shadow had everyone else feeling so on edge. “I’m apparently the only person that isn’t bothered.”

"Yeah well if he scares me to death I'm haunting his him til armageddon" Melody said finally turning her gaze back down to Emblazia. Hearing that Cerberus was so shocked and scared by whatever information he dug up on Thanatos made her a little curious. Shades, poltergeists and other like spirits were only possible to form when someone... "Is he dead?" she asked with a stare that demanded the truth. She was supremely open minded but the one thing that gave her the heeby jeebies were ghosts and the undead.

An expression briefly flared that showed the amethyst eyed beauty had no desire for untruths yet she did seem to also be keeping a few secrets related to the being in question. Then again, he had been by her side more than enough for such a trust to build. “Yes he is and no he isn’t. At some point, he was a vengeful spirit of a victim of a child abuse. That’s part of why he has a sadistic personality underneath his usual less disturbing personality. However when he encountered me in the garden that day, it was enough to allow recollection of himself before dying.” She mumbled loudly enough for Melody to hear yet anyone else never would be able. “That alone usually just leads to them getting to pass into the afterlife, the world of the dead. In his case, an attachment formed so strong that he somehow managed a pseudo-resurrection.”

Melody had a horrified look pass through her eyes at the explanation. She found abuse to be horrible no matter what for obvious reasons but child abuse was at the top of the list of things be beyond horrible. Children were the picture of innocence, most of the time, and for anyone to lay a hand on a child in violence was beyond atrocious to her. But what really spiked the horror was that Thanatos as the child at the time of the abuse.. he died from it! She felt a touch ill and clenched her eyes shut. She never wished ill of most anyone unless she had a legitimate reason but to ever wish ill of a child and then actually abuse them to death was... "He attached to you?" she asked opening her eyes slowly. "Why did he attach to you?" There was no accusation of any kind as she wondered if Thanatos had related to how Emblazia said she wasn't treated well by her dad.

Emblazia didn’t even notice that she had briefly massaged one of her temples at being asked why though she had mentioned her father being physically abused and likely emotionally as well. “He saw how much Father just hated me and how no one who would help, couldn’t. Those two in the same room together rarely went without either violence or similar.” She recalled, shaking her head with a sigh that suggested a migraine was starting. If her father gave enough damage to the head or any other area, she naturally did suffer long term effects.

Melody kissed at Emblazia's temple softly trying to ease some of what was definitely a migraine. She dropped any line of questioning for now and just nuzzled softly at the redheads flesh like a loving girlfriend should in an attempt to shift her other halves focus onto her. "Blaze, I have to ask more of curiosity than anything else but... Is there some sort of test to tell if someone is human or not? All my life weird things have happened to me and people have said I was cursed or something. Since Jewel is a witch curses have to be real but what if all the weird things happened because I'm not human?" she asked.

Emblazia thought about the possibility though she hadn’t heard anything specific of the sort. “I wouldn’t mind doing one just to see if I tested human at all.” She lightly chuckled, her tone teasing before returning to more serious. “Jewel believes you have wood nymph blood to be honest. She’s fairly accurate with actually narrowing down what type someone might be and definitely if I miss detecting if they are.” She did understand the need for answers though getting her to not ignore her heritage apparently wasn’t easy. At least Melody had found a few answers about her own self though.

"Wood nymph? Like the little naked fairies that flit about the trees?" Melody asked with a raised eyebrow. "I'm not a plant person Blaze. The last potted plant I tried to grow died within a week with me doing everything I was supposed to. How can I be something that has within legend been not only a protector of the forest but a spirit to promote its growth if I can't keep a potted cactus alive? A cactus for crying out loud. A tiny little give it some water and ignore it for a week before watering again cactus." There was a hint of frustration in her tone. "I don't think you'll test as human. Too beautiful, power rippling off your skin.. If you test as human I'd be shocked" she said, her tone shifting to loving and supportive.

“To be fair, the few that I encountered were getting drunk because one of them apparently burned down their house by accident.” Emblazia gently reminded her that not everyone could fit their stereotypes or behaved as expected. “The poor little guy might had wanted more attention from you. If pets can get pouty with their owners, a plant definitely might with you.” The loving complements made her cheeks begin matching her hair from blushing. “Really you’re far too good for me. Besides, I don’t know who of my own family here might have guessed I’m Fae or fates help me if anyone but Jewel see my ears.” Of all things for her to be so shy about, the woman definitely was odd for it to be who knew what she was.

Melody considered the idea before mentally shrugging. "You deserve to be treated good. To be treated as the queen you are" she said in a soft tone. "You've kept me safe. You've done so much for Jewel. If Karma is a real entity then I'd like to think I'm your reward." Cheesy and cliche but it was sincere as it escaped her lips. "Those people outside the door love you, respect you, admire you, support you Emblazia. If they know and haven't said anything its most likely out of respect. Those people will protect you in no uncertain terms. This is not just a criminal empire with your top people out there Blaze, outside those doors is your family. Your REAL family regardless of how much or how little human blood is in your veins. I don't care, Jewel doesn't care and I am sure as they don't either. Why do you?" she asked with a gentle nuzzle.

“I don’t have anywhere else Melody.” Emblazia acknowledged somewhat bitterly, having only uptaken the role to start with because Vio asked she not let her warpath vengeance go without meaning something substantial. “Before, Vio and I were rarely home anyway so I wouldn’t get the hell beat out of me more than not. Afterwards I was completely disowned.” She had such a deeply rooted fear of being rejected by anyone else for her differences, it made her self worth nonexistent while she still desperately had been trying to find someone to love her. The abuse of her father and neglect of the servants left more lasting damage than any would guess yet where did it end?

A spark of fierce anger flew across Melody's eyes as she wiggled from Emblazia's embrace to pull the redhead into her own arms. "You have me, Jewel, the Hounds and everyone outside those doors" she said in a tone that left no room for argument. "If those Fae want to reject for any reason whatsoever than screw them! You aren't perfect but neither are they!" A fierce silver glow encompassed them both as she guided the redheads head to lay on her chest. "Do you hear that Blaze, my heartbeat under your ear? It is yours. So long as you'll have me its yours but I need the strong hearted woman I know is in there to break out of the shackles those who hurt you and would assume things about you to prove them wrong. Your 'father', not that the trash deserves the title, was wrong about you. If the court has ideas about you, I'll bet everything you'll surprise them." Dipping her head down she kissed Emblazia's nose gently. "You always have a home my love and a throne beside me, I swear it on my soul."

Though the affection did have her blushing, the fragile yet hopeful light trying to shine had finally began to appear. It was the same one that occasionally had before given life to an otherwise sharp gaze or showed her softer side guarded by thorns and barbed wire. “Love you too. I’ll keep trying to become more like that person you’re asking for me to be. I’ve been that abused little Fae hybrid child for so long, but I know you wouldn’t tell me anything untrue.” The sight was a touching moment yet certain to confuse anyone who opened the door. Compared to her normal persona and how the last few days had gone, this image was reversed as well as not hiding anything of her origins.

"You don't need to become that person because I know she's in there already. That abused child, we're going to give her the peace she's long due ok? That time of your life is over and it is never coming back. I will not let anyone hurt you. Jewel will not let anyone hurt you. The Hounds will not let anyone hurt you and Jeepers Creepers impersonator Thanatos I know sure as hell won't let anyone hurt you. So queen of my heart, sparkle in my eye.. I know there's a strong queen hidden in your soul. She's bogged down by shackles and weights but I have the key." One of her arms was unwrapped from around Emblazia and held her hand in front of her redheaded girlfriend. It was symbolic, offering her hand to Emblazia, but the symbol was one of freedom to the system of locks holding her back. "Take it, show me how strong you are."

Emblazia smiled as she took the offered hand, unable to resist teasing her about her apparent unease around the undead being. “Oh don’t be so childish. Since you know how to bake, he’s going to definitely be wanting a chance to taste test.” While having a nervous breakdown minus tears and screaming wasn’t something she had just wanted in any form, the Fae child had needed to be given the reassurance after finally getting it off her chest. “Thank you, Melody. Even if it takes time for me to not be so on edge instead of relaxing, I know I’m fine being taken care of by people who care.”

"Jeepers Creeper is not something I'm being childish about. Even just as a movie monster he is creepy as all hell and.." Melody shivered a little. Hearing that Thanatos would want to taste test her baking made her curious. "Why would he want to taste test my baking? He doesn't strike me as a sweet tooth guy." A brief tilt of her head was given at the thanks. "You do that for the people you love and there is no shortage of love here for you Blaze. Me as your partner, Jewel as your child and the Hounds as your protectors or your extended family members. There is no shortage of people who love you here. We will love you and every part of this messed up family will always do that come hell or high water." Leaning down she briefly kissed Emblazia as she knocking echoed off the door.

"Moms, you decent in there?"

Melody rolled her eyes pulling back. "Jewel can be a brat can't she?" she asked smiling faintly. "But she's our brat."

“It’s unlocked.” She called as a faint snicker escaped. “Too smart for anyone to trick easily you mean. Still, she is ours.” Emblazia agreed wholeheartedly before finally getting to answer about Thanatos. “He is a bit picky about quality. Anything overly sweet or not enough won’t get touched but I have to admit that I haven’t had any issues with it. If he says something is good, you might best get a bit before everyone gets it first.” She laughed. “I took advantage of his stealth to get a little taste of sweets occasionally but unfortunately the diet limits don’t let even that except for the ice cream. Even then, I have to stop before my stomach acts up though thankfully my phantom has good instincts.”

"Some might say she's a little too smart for her own good. I can imagine her trying to take over the world with an army of specially trained squirrels and ponies" Melody said rolling her eyes again good naturedly even as she watched said girl enter the room.

"So, did you ask her yet?" Jewel asked hopping on the bed and looking at Emblazia almost expectantly.

"Yeah Blaze darling, did you ask me yet?" Melody asked arching an eyebrow at the redhead. Did her girlfriend have something to ask her that was important for some reason?

The woman in question deflated in defeat in the bed, landing face down into the blankets. “No I instead had a bloody moment.” Emblazia mumbled, hair once again falling into covering the most noticeable of her Fae traits. Though more importantly was now someone was going to have to figure out how to get her back to doing anything productive. “Jewel you know that goldfish are better with focusing on anything than I am on my best days.”
