Fandom A Chance Meeting at Ilex Forest

"Ok mommy" She says walking away, not wanting to hunt sine pitchy is rather low on the food chain. She fins some yummy berries and carried them, thouh it was rather difficult with her short arms. "Wow everything looks different" she said before returning with the meal.

"Did you get enough practice as Simon? I'm going to have you do this again later -- so you can learn to battle, and improve your psychic skills. So how was it? Are you comfortable in his body?"

Your own body is right where you left it.

"I can walk and talk fine, but I'm not sure how good he is for fighting" the pichu said. "Do you do this a lot mommy?"

"Yes, I do. Very often. You seem anxious, Danielle. Are you sad?"

Balaa walks up to you and gently places you on her back.

"Simon is a good Pichu, but he's your Pichu, if you recall. And as guardians we have to do things differently. You'll need to get used to puppeteering Simon, alright? But I don't want you to feel guilt."

Her conflicted emotions settled some at the touch of her mother. She didn't like doing this but mommy said it was important and it was their job, she couldn't feel guilty about doing a good job right? "Thanks mommy." She said snuggling closer

"You're welcome. Now, before you let Simon go, I want you to do one thing. Leave a trace...something you can return to and easily use to step right back into his body again."

"Like a bridge?" She asked not quite grasping at the concept.

"Yes. By doing this, you'll be able, no matter what, to get back into his body from anywhere. That way if you need help, or have to escape, you can use him to do it."

Balaa nods.

"And one more thing -- when you release him, he won't know you were him for a while. Eventually you may choose to tell Simon that you can completely control him, but that decision is yours. I believe to put him to good use we'll have to train him quite a bit -- maybe get him to evolve. But for now, let's eat, alright?"

"Definitely!" She said happy to change the topic. She tried to imagine a bridge connecting her mind and his, giving access to both. She returned to her body.

Simon wobbles a little, then looks down at the plate and grins.

"Yay! Berries! Thank you, Ms. Ninetales!"

"Don't thank me. Danielle got them."

He looks at you, admiration clear in his expression. "You are amazing, Danielle. Thank you...I'm so hungry..."

She blushed again, her cheeks turning a shade lighter. "You're welcome" she said, and smiled You always seem to be hungry don't you?

He blushes a little.

"I eat an awful lot...I guess I'm hungry all the time..."

"There is plenty for a growing boy like you," says Balaa gently. "Do not feel badly for what you eat. You must keep yourself well fed, after all."

He nods, but is still a little more cautious about his next bite.

Wait.. did I tell him that oh now I feel bad I didnt meen too. She bemoaned she didn't mean to mess with him. She decided to do something rash. She started to scarf down her meal eating very quickly.

This surprises him to no small degree.

"Danielle? Are you very hungry? I'll go get more food -- please, if you can do it, I can too, right?"

"A generous offer on his part. You have a very good Pichu. You should be proud of him. But it's best if you both stay here. If you desire more to eat, I will get it myself."

She was depressed that mommy didn't seem to pick up on what she was doing, so decided just to tak things into her own hands. "Eat as much as you want." Then she looked back at mommy. "It's fine mommy im just trying to make Simon feel less self conscious" She smiled at her use of a big word and continued to eat, though slower.

Simon goes back to enjoying his meal with a satisfied sigh.

"That is kind of you. I have a question for you -- do you think Simon would make a good guard? Not a guardian, but a personal guard? I think if you train him he could be very good for that, but it'll mean hard work for both of you."

She lets out a very small yawn.

[My daughter has a very sweet nature -- she'll need to be more ruthless if she is to take my mantle...but I don't want to spoil it...and I don't want her to be afraid of me...or others...]

"He'd want to guard me i'm pretty sure he's so nice and protective, but im not sure he could fight" She thought back "Im happy you like him though!" She continued to eat, before yawning a little.

"What if we had him evolve?"

Simon, now full of berries, stumbles across to you, sleep in his eyes, and flops down on one of your tails. "Good night, everyone," he says, before starting to doze.

Balaa laughs a little at this. "It seems your Pichu is rather worn from all the exercise we gave him -- with time, he'll be able to go much farther."

"Yeah" She thought, though now that the Pichu dozed she started to feel sleepy too. "Though I wouldn't want to force hi to evolve... though don't Pichu's evolve differently?" She thought to mommy before letting out another yawn.

"Pichu evolves when it has very good friends," replies Balaa. " He may evolve on his own, given enough love and care. But for now -- let us rest. Tomorrow I'm going to ask you to train him while I work."

With that, she wraps them both up and lies down.

She began to wonder whether or not Simon would like that, but when mommy put her tails around them she forgot and took in her mothers warmth. "Goodnight Mommy." she said her eyes shutting themselves.

Next morning you awake once more to find Simon staring at you with a big grin plastered on his face.

"You're up! Now we can go DO things! Hooray!" With that, he bounds away, while Balaa comes over.

"I told him you two would be working together today. You'll be staying in the cave and training, alright?"

"Y..you're leaving?" She asked, nervousness shining in her eyes. Her heart started to flutter just a little, she would still have Simon..

"Now, now, we've talked about this. I'll be back, but I have to go to work, sweetheart. You can't be afraid every time I leave."

Simon is bouncing all over the place.

"I'm sorry..." She said mournfully hanging her head. She didn't like it when mommy used that tone, it meant she did something wrong.
