And sure enough, he takes off, back to his normal, unreachable speed.

Balaa watches silently with just a small smile.

"I'm doing much better! You'll never catch me...this time for sure!"

She chased him best as she could though decided not to mess with his mind, but she had a thought. Her eyes glowed blue and she channeled some of her power to her legs . I never thought about this before!

Much to his surprise, you begin catching up again.

"No...no!" he cries worriedly, charging as hard as he can, only for his efforts to trip him and send him skidding across the grass. A moment later you've all but pounced on him.

"Aw...I thought this time I could win...well...I'll just have to keep practicing! You're very fast." His look is admiring.

"I'm not very fast I just have some of my mommies power." she said looking rather bashful her cheeks lightened a shade.

 

[JessieSune]

"Really? I wish I had something like that..."

 

[AmethystRoze]

She felt bad for the guy, she didn't mean to make him feel bad. Her eyes glowed blue. Youre special the way you are

He pauses, then chuckles. "I guess I'm pretty special the way I am."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Yeah!" she said out loud. "If it weren't for mommies power then you would be faster than me by double!" She cheered

 

[JessieSune]

He's surprised to hear this, but grins. "Well, even if I'm faster you're clearly much smarter!"

Balaa lets out a quiet yawn as she watches them. She shakes her head.

"It is not wise to compare oneself to others."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Yeah all we can do is be ourselves!" She said cheerily.

 

[JessieSune]

"You're right," he replies. "Still...it'd be fun if I could learn!"

 

[AmethystRoze]

"I don't know if that could happen, could it happen Mommy?" she asked her, honestly curious now.

 

[JessieSune]

"No, it couldn't," replies Balaa. "We each much take the gifts we have and use them as we may. Danielle has been given gifts -- you, Simon, have different ones."

"I understand, I think," he replies with an earnest shake of his head.

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Yeah! you're really fast so naturally, not to mention youre really nice" she said nuzzling him trying to get him to feel better.

 

[JessieSune]

"Thank you," he says with a blush.

"I'm going to take us home," says Balaa. "Come, Danielle, Simon."

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Ok mommy" she said happily, jumping into her back and helping Simon get up as well.

 

[JessieSune]

After about a fifteen minute walk, the trio is back in the cave.

"Now then, how about dinner?" asks Balaa.

 

[AmethystRoze]

"Sure!" Danielle said, it seemed like her appetite would never be gone.

 

[JessieSune]

Balaa nods.

"I would like you to have Simon go get it. So instead of just offering suggestions, I want you to take over his body. Put your mind in place of his. Imagine putting him in a box, and then see things through his eyes."

Simon wags his tail a few times, blissfully unaware.

She tilted her head to the side "Why?" She asked out of pure curiosity

 

[JessieSune]

"One day you'll need to be able to do it to stronger Pokemon to keep the forest safe. It's not an easy job, and it may feel a little harsh -- but if you keep him safe, you needn't have guilt."

Simon's smile is pretty cute. It's hard to imagine, but...perhaps it's best that you do as Balaa asks...?

"Ok" she said in her normal cheery tone. It seemed kind of mean, but if Mommy said to do it it must be ok. Her eyes glowed blue again and she envisioned what her mom had told her. Putting him in a box, trying to see through his eyes.

For a moment, his eyes widen.

"Da-Danielle? Wha-- what are you doing? How are you...ungh..."

Balaa watches closely.

His last few words shook her up a little, but she continued nonetheless, wanting to do as she was told. She tried to get him to walk around a little hopefully she would have complete control soon.

He takes a few uncertain steps, then a few more, then turns around. His eyes are now the same color as yours -- you see what he sees, hear what he hears -- feel what he feels. And you notice it's quiet, except for your thoughts. You look, and see yourself through his eyes -- the Vulpix looks like she's concentrating hard -- but this is your body now. You look at Balaa.

"Well done. Go ahead and grab some food, and then come back, alright? Whatever you like, even if you want to hunt. Just make sure you know your limits."
