Today is September 1st. A brand-new year at Hogwarts; and for Foxyn, it’s paws fifth year. Today is also a rather gloomy, stormy day. Thanks, dad, for making it storm! Anyways, fifth year at Hogwarts meant… OWLs. Oh my! Thankfully, Foxyn had got some study guides and paw hoped that paw would do well. Foxyn was looking forward to Herbology class! Fox was very fond of Herbology class and looking at books about different plants. Fox was pulled from paws thoughts by paws dad speaking to paw.
“Do you have everything? Your study guides? Your wand? Your sensory toolkit? Chewlery? Everything?” Perkwunos, Foxyn’s deity dad, questioned the fifth year. Foxyn’s deity heritage was kept a secret from paws fellow students. Well, half deity heritage is more accurate because Foxyn’s mom is a mortal human being. Perkwunos is the Proto Indo European God of thunder and storms. Anyways…..
Foxyn nodded their head quickly, “yes dad, I do.” They were quick to respond. They were sure that they had everything! And Foxyn was ready for a brand new year at Hogwarts!
“Alright go on now, don’t miss the train. I love you.” Perkwunos urged his son. Fox smiled and nodded before turning to make his way to the brick wall, ready to pass through it when no mortals were looking.
“Foxyn, wait!”
Foxyn turned his head to see Perkwunos speed walking towards him with Todd in his arms. Todd! His kneazle! He couldn’t forget to bring Todd with him! Foxyn was quick to briskly walk towards his dad to take Todd from him. “Don’t lose him.” Perkwunos reminded Foxyn. The Slytherin nodded paws head in response; paw will not lose Todd! Foxyn was already carrying paws luggage with one arm, so paw had to hold Todd with paws free arm.
The rain was pattering against paw, and paw was wishing that paw had worn clothes more suitable for the weather. Oh well! Soon they’ll be in the warmth of the Hogwarts Express! With a breath, Foxyn ran towards the brick wall, going through it and finding pawself on the platform.
The platform was full of sobbing first years, friends reuniting with each other after a long summer, and parents waving goodbye to their kids. Foxyn remembered that during paws first year, paw sobbed so much before getting onto the train. The Slytherin began to make their way towards the train, weaving their way through the crowd.
Foxyn stepped aboard the train, immediately pressing himself against the wall when a group of overzealous first years came rushing by and it took Fox by surprise. Watch where you’re going! The boy shook their head and began to make their way down the train hallway corridors in search of an empty compartment to sit in. Train compartments were starting to fill up with people paw’s not familiar with. Yikes. Foxyn better find an empty train compartment and soon!
Fox held onto Todd, determined to not lose his kneazle. After a bit of wandering around and hoping that the train wasn’t going to start moving anytime soon, Fox was nearing the very end of the hallway corridor.
There was an empty train compartment and Foxyn grinned. No awkwardness of stumbling into a compartment full of people that he doesn’t know! Adjusting his belongings and still holding onto Todd, Foxyn slid open the compartment door and stepped inside, sliding the door shut. With that over with, Fox set Todd down on one of the seats so that he could get to putting his luggage up.
The Slytherin stood up on his tiptoes with his luggage above his head in an attempt to get it onto the luggage rack above him. He is… so short. Fox pushed their luggage onto the rack with a heavy thud and they breathed out a big sigh of relief. Foxyn can worry about paws luggage when the 9-hour train ride comes to an end. The Slytherin sat in one of the seats and paw leaned paws head back. Rain pattered onto the compartment window, covering the window in a sheet of rain and obscuring the outside view.
Foxyn fidgeted with the fox chewelry around paws neck before putting it in paws mouth to chew on it. It’s going to be a long train ride.
