HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear future student,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on 7 May. We await your owl by no later than 30 April.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
Bring back what we've forgot,
Setting

The year is 1989, eight years after the end of The First Wizarding War and two years before Harry even learns he's a wizard. Though a scarcely acknowledged fear of you-know-who still lingers in the air, the wizard world is operating mostly as normal. Perhaps you are a new first year student, entering Hogwarts with the likes of Fred and George Weasley, Cedric Diggory, and Angelina Johnson. Or, maybe you are soon graduating alongside Bill Weasley, studying vigorously (or not) for your N.E.W.T.s. Either way, you've found your way to Hogwarts and are welcome. Now please, make your way to platform nine and three quarters.

Plot
This is a Harry Potter universe role play, without the Harry Potter. The events of Harry's life, as depicted in the books, have not all occurred yet. This RP will be focused mostly on life at Hogwarts as the students come of age and attend their classes while trying to keep out of trouble. There will be certain plot points (such as feasts, trips to Hogsmeade, and Quidditch matches) to push character development and interaction. OCs, especially first years (please refer to next tab), would be wonderful, but canon characters are most welcome too. Drama between characters (romance, rivalries, etc.) is highly encouraged.
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,

Guidelines & Rules

1. All first years will be sorted upon arrival at Hogwarts, as per the Sorting Ceremony. (This means that canon characters will be sorted into their respective houses, but OCs are at the mercy of the Sorting Hat.)
2. If you've joined our RP after we've done sorting for the year, you can join as an older year (2-7) or part of the staff. All canon teachers are in place, but I will allow OC assistant professors in each subject who can teach the lower years (1-3) under the supervision of the canon teacher.
3. You are allowed 3 characters in total. They may be whatever year you like, or even a teacher, as long as they follow the above rules.
4. This will be a detailed and (I'm hoping) long-term RP. While quality is more important than quantity, in the interest of substance I am expecting at least a full paragraph (6 sentences or more) per post, at least once or twice a week. Please let us know if you'll be inactive for a while, in advance!
5. Let's all be polite to each other and work together to have a good time.
6. I'm sure you know the usual rules by now, but just in case: no GMing, Mary Sues, or controlling/harming other people's characters without consent. etc..
7. Less of a rule and more of a suggestion, but the group discord can be found here: https://discord.gg/k3k67hT. You are not required to join at all, but it's a handy tool for communication.

And learn until our brains all rot.

Hm. I don't believe I've seen you here before. I don't know you. First year, then?

[He looks you up and down before giving you a knowing smile to ease your apparent nervousness.]

It's alright, I get it. My little brothers are first years too. George and Fred Weasley. Little troublemakers, they are. Maybe you'll meet them on the train. But on second thought, it's probably better that you don't.

[He laughs.]

Here, let me help you with your bags. Don't worry, they'll be sent up to your room when we get there. Now, when you get off, you'll be looking for Hagrid. He's a big guy, you won't be able to miss him. He'll take you on the boats to the Great Hall, where you'll get sorted.

What? Yeah, sorted. You know, into one of the four houses. You don't know? Blimey, well. There are four houses. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor - that's the one I'm in - and Slytherin. You'll probably want to stay away from that last lot. Huh? Oh, no, you don't get to pick. The Hat will, at the ceremony.

[The train's whistle blows sharply, a final warning to all intending to get to Hogwarts.]

There's probably still room in one of the compartments of this car right right here. In you go. Chin up, you'll be fine. Just remember to stay as far away from Peeves as you can. What's that? Nevermind, you'll figure it out for yourself. Good luck, and welcome to Hogwarts
.

The Hogwarts Express
Platform 9 ¾
latest
You arrive at Kings Cross, thrilled to finally be making your own way to Hogwarts.

The station itself is massive, crammed full with bustling travelers headed to a million different destinations. The sounds of conversation and wheels clacking on tracks reverberate through the walls, filling your ears with sound. Though overwhelming, there's something comforting about seeing all these people going about their way. You almost feel like you're being gently swept up in a river that leads exactly to where you need to go.

Somehow, without realizing it, you find your way to platform 9. Just up ahead, you see a family of red heads waving their sons off as they run straight through a pillar. This is it, you think. The beginning of your journey.

Feel free to make new friends & enemies or run into old ones. Once on board, have your characters find their way into a compartment. The train is quite full this year, so no one will be riding alone. The Express will leave promptly at 11 AM.

Milena Avery

tumblr_inline_o3c5edAriX1t8bm8b_250.gif

Milena skipped alongside her cart as her father pushed it for her. Her hair waved in the light breeze behind her, bouncing in time with her steps. With a smile on her lips and a twinkle in her eye, she could barely contain her excitement for the coming journey. Both her parents and her older brother Elias had been telling Milena stories of their Hogwarts days since she was born. Now it was finally Milena's turn to make her mark and form the lifelong friendships that bonded wizards and witches.

"Is this it?" Milena asked, as she was very clearly tired of walking through the many corridors and platforms of the station. She didn't understand why they couldn't just use floo powder or a port key to the school, it seemed like it would be much more convenient. Her parents had told her it was part of the experience and that she ought to make the best of it.

"Right there," her father replied, pointing just ahead to a pillar between platforms 9 and 10. As they approached, Milena watched a pair of red headed boys zoom through the pillar, miraculously without collision. "Do I - do I have to do that too?" Milena's voice came with a hint of hesitation in it.

"Oh yes, dear, but there's nothing to be afraid o-" Molly Weasley's voice had a high pitched happiness to it as she spun around to reply to the girl's voice behind her. She stopped herself mid sentence when she saw who the child belonged to.

"Ah. Abigor. Ravana," Mrs. Weasley greeted Milena's parents, curtly. "This must be your daughter," she said, gesturing to Milena. Milena smiled in return. "Best do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous," Mrs. Weasley assured Milena in her signature motherly way. "Now, come along, you lot. Let's give them some space." Molly eyed Milena's parents as she tucked the rest of her children under her wing and lead them away from the platform.

Milena's parents returned Molly's gaze with a cold glare. Once she was out of sight, their attentions returned to their only daughter. "You'll walk straight through there, drop off your belongs with the baggage attendant, head onto the train and find a compartment," her father instructed her. "Try to sit with the good kids," her mother chimed in. "I believe the Flint boy is going to school now, maybe you can sit with him."

"Go on, my girl," Milena's father encouraged her. "We'll see you when you get back." Her mother nodded.

Milena took a deep breath and followed Mrs. Weasley's advice with a running start. She closed her eyes tightly as the wall of the pillar came towards her, bracing for its impact. Instead, Milena found that she had made her way safely to platform 9 ¾. She stopped momentarily out of surprise before a nearby attendant reminded her to move along before another student came barreling down the portal.

Normally one would be ecstatic for today. Letter long since received, supplies and Wand, Robes and shopping all complete, now the day was here and Tyrus stood several feet from the platform just looking on toward 9' 3/4 quarters with a blank expression and nerves wracking his body. He was a tall young lad with a athletic figure and wearing some old jeans, a plain T-shirt and his dads old leather jacket with a guitar case and strap across his shoulders and his luggage cart paused before him. "It's just a platform...... No way to foul this up. It's magical and hopefully without any girls watching.......... Can't seem foolish, nothing ponder. Just run it looks like and slam through that brick column." Tyrus thought to himself.

Ok that was a bit much. But the lad wasn't normally so nervous unless it involved girls, public speaking before large audiences and/or some kind of stage. However it seemed like more and more people were gathering, he was about to experience something he had no clue of how it worked exactly, what happened if he was too far on to one side as he ran forward into that brick or if his shoe laces would come untied and cause him to trip up before a bunch of people and plenty of girls nearby to see it. Luck was horrid sometimes........

"Just walk...... Yeah that's it. Just walk and take your time TJ. Nothing to worry about, Mum told you how to do it...... Uhmm... What was it again?.. Oh yeah. Right, just between platforms 9 and 10 where you'll see a brick portal that requires a good run and through it you'll be. Ha! Right!" Tyrus continued slowly trying to clear his mind of nerves and overthinking the crowd and the potential gone wrong moments he could think up. While recalling what his mum said before dropping him off to the station and giving a kiss to his cheek and send him on his way, while she went to take care business. Things were tough after all since his dad passed away in that accident and Mum now couldn't always be there like she used to for young Tyrus.

Meanwhile Tyrus was slowly moving toward the platform, observing a red haired family and kind sounding mother speak to a young girl with dark about the process of it all. She seemed nice, kinda reminded him of how own mother. While that dark haired girl and her family said their parting words before she went through the portal herself.
"See nothing to it..... Just run and appear on some other side? Yeah. Must be." Tyrus spoke approaching the platform and staring at the brick for a moment with clearing of his throat. Just hoping his shoe laces didn't come untied and make a fool of himself in front of this growing audience and increasing number of girls walking by. It would truly not create any good first impressions or help him in he long run.

Looking toward the kind, motherly red haired woman and her family. Tyrus gave a nod and small smile before looking ahead to the platform wall. Before he knew it the lad was off into a sprint and ran forward pushing his cart and keeping hold of his guitar case that was strung over his shoulders in a diagonal fashion, feeling the case hit against his body as he ran, bracing himself for impact and then crossing through the portal.

Before long Tyrus was now on the other side, looking up and around at the train with a smile and wide eyes. Tyrus J Zanewood was finally here..... It was more then he could of imagined and though it was merely a train and secret part of the station. It was incredible to him, the hustle and bustle of kids his own age and older getting onto the train, while a luggage attendant came and got his cart to place on the train for him or whatever they did with it anyways.

While Tyrus waved off the kind gesture to take his guitar case with the rest of his things. It might of seemed odd as once he arrived to Hogwarts and this opening night began, what would he do with his case? How would he get it into his room or with his other things before the ceremony startered? But to Tyrus it was important he kept it. Perhaps he could get on the train and find a quiet spot to play and relieve his nerves some? Who knows. But should things get awkward with his guitar then he'd simply use that shrinking spell to decrease the size and put it away in his pocket.

As some time passed and he stepped out of the way for others who might pass through the portal. Tyrus began making his way for the train aiming to get aboard and find himself a compartment to stow himself away in until they arrived at Hogwarts. Tyrus had yet to notice anybody familiar to him, while the kids he had seen so far were girls and he just couldn't think up anything to say yet. Not wanting to make a fool of himself by breaking the ice with a intro and stuff, Tyrus instead thought it best to get on board and find a nice spot, if options were still ripe for picking..

SusannaSusanna and her family walked with contented leisure down the platforms towards the hidden entrance to the Hogwarts train. Her older brother had his trolley loaded with his things, his trunks slickly gleaming in silver and green and black. She had admired his luggage with envy, eagerly awaiting the moment that her own plain brown ones would be decked out in house colors. Her house colors. Once again that bubbly mix of excitement and worry leaned on her; Susanna was dying to hear the Sorting Hat call out what house she would be in. She hoped she could continue the family tradition of being in Slytherin, but there was also a part of her that knew she might not. Also, she and her parents had had many discussions about how she might not, and she knew her family would not be disappointed if she wasn't put in the same house as they were.

The Rosewarne's had arrived in ample time to load up their daughter and see their son off. Though right as he could, Sidney had elected to dash ahead to meet up with several raucous boys he knew and his messy head was soon digested by the crowd of oblivious muggles and ecstatic wizards and witches. Susanna craned her neck to see around a cluster of people and looked back at her parents with a beaming expression. She could see the entrance to Platform 9 3/4 and her father smiled back, laying his hand on her shoulder and helping her steer her over ladened cart around bystanders and other youngsters ready to dive head first into the brick wall hiding their new and exciting adventure.

Her mother pulled up beside her and her father as the three waited in line for others to go ahead. Susanna recognized very few people but it was impossible to mistake the clutch of carrot topped individuals bustling around. Susanna caught her father giving a man a polite nod, his small, tight-lipped smile gracing his slightly wrinkled face. Susanna was anxious to get going, hating being stuck behind these people and her mother gently pinched her cheek in a silent but loving reprimand; she was biting her lip again. Susanna grinned up at her parents and leaned closer to her father so he could hear her over the din of the train station. She kept one bright hazel eye on the brick divide though, watching with delight as the young girl rushed through it and disappeared.

"You'll write...every day...won't you?" She stalled her words, partially to make sure he could focus on listening to her as they avoided being jostled and kept inching forward. Her excitement grew with every inch and she could barely keep from jumping up and down like she had seen some young children doing. Her father, who was bent nearly double to look her in the face merely chortled at her stammered inquiry and kissed her forehead, squeezing her shoulder in that paternal way.

"Until you're sick of us and Hermes can't bear another letter." He teased, and Susanna nodded, her smile growing. As she pushed the cart forward again, ready to follow the girl through Sidney fairly apparated alongside her. She could see the spider web thin whiskers poking out from between his shirt and his chest as he maneuvered his cart beside her, tapping the handle and pointing.

"Ready to go, Susannie?" Sidney gave his mother a hasty, slightly begrudged kiss on the cheek before exchanging a manly shoulder clap with Isaac. Susanna gave a much more heartfelt goodbye. Latching on to her parents' waists and squeezing tightly before turning to join Sidney at a labored rush to the brick wall. Sidney eased up half a yard before the wall and Susanna felt a split second flash of trepidation and terror, fearing her brother had tricked her into careening headfirst into bricks and mortar like so many of his stories before she had to stop quickly to avoid running into someone just on the other side. Breathlessly looking over her shoulder where Sidney once again appeared Susanna gave her brother a silent squeal of delight, following him on to the platform to turn over their luggage and find seats. She gave the poor stranger she had very nearly collided with a quick "excuse me" before clutching Styx's carrier to her chest and speedwalking to catch up with her brother's lengthy strides.

Alice ran her fingers over her necklace as she had been doing most of that morning, her hair rather obnoxiously slicked up as she liked it. She and her parents had found platforms nine and ten, yet her ticket read 9 3/4? It made no sense. Thankfully, a few other students began appearing around her, and she realized quickly that, of course, the way onto the platform for the train to the school of wizardry was cloaked in magic. After watching a few others she imagined would be in her class barrel through the barrier between platforms nine and ten, Alice gave her parents one last enthusiastic hug goodbye.

"I hope you have fun!" her mother said as she held her daughter tightly to her chest for a long moment," and... and you have Zeppie? and your music player? and-and your ticket of course... and-"

Alice laughed heartily at her mother's worrying. Her mother was never really one to be frantic about anything, but this was new for all of them, and she'd been obsessing over every detail for days.

"Yes, mum I have everything," Alice replied, receiving a joyful albeit tearful smile from the flower child turned mother.

Nodding once more to her father whom she had embraced first, noticing that he had already begun to cry, Alice took her trolley and lined it up with the brick barrier. Letting out a breath, she ran at the wall nervously and squinted her eyes shut as she went hurting towards it, only opening them after a few seconds when she knew she should have just flattened her face against bricks. Pulling her trolley to the side so that it didn't go careening into the tracks before her, Alice couldn't help but marvel at the train before her. It was an old steam engine, enormous, and loud, and amazing. Grinning giddily, Alice left her trunk and kitten with one of the men loading things onto the train, giving Zeppelin one last pet before entering one of the train carriages. Everything was so fascinating! She figured she looked like a huge dork with her overly enthusiastic grin, but, she couldn't help it or care.

Being glad she had chosen her carriage well, Alice snagged one of the last empty open compartments and sat staring out the window at the bustling crowd below where she had just been with a smile still. Pulling her walkman from her bag, she shuffled through the many cassettes she had stowed in the bag before picking one mixtape her father had made for her for her birthday. Inserting it into the machine and turning it on, she smiled to find 'Carry on Wayward Son' the first song, one of her personal favorites. Pulling the headset onto her ears, she leaned back against the seat and couldn't help but wonder if all of this was actually real.

Tyrus had finally made his way aboard the train. Walking past compartment after compartment, his eyes peering in long enough to establish that each compartment so far was rather full. Seemed like he was taking too long..... Quite a few already were inside their chosen spots for cozy seating, if a bit full. But some seemed to like the company right? Least he imagined they would or why else pack yourselves inside?

Truly his young mind was all over the place, overthinking every little thing and unfamiliar with everyone he'd seen so far. Meanwhile Tyrus was walking along seeing himself reaching the near end of compartments. There was more right? They couldn't all be full to bursting? He wasn't that slow or late was..... He? He was hoping not after all he thought he was right on time and maybe a bit early, early enough atleast. Once more his mind wandered and thought over the worse case scenarios. All the while hoping something good would reveal itself.

Finally walking along the hallway aboard the train and losing hope for something open. Tyrus came across one, peering his eyes of hazel around the corner and looking into small but fair size room, seeing a girl with a Walkman sitting inside. "Uh... oh..... I....... hmm.... I me-" Tyrus paused shakin his head slightly and clearing his throat, closing his eyes for a brief moment as his body slowly exhaled in relaxing himself a bit. Meanwhile his fingers stretched, curved then clenched and outstretched again as he took pause and tried to find his words again.

Really...... He was smarter then he appeared right now. He could of sworn he was smarter then he appeared around girls, his mum always complimented him. So did his teachers, sort of anyway. Just around girls he seemed to appear odd, know and realize his flaws most and could make a fool of himself when Tyrus appeared awkward.

"Mind.... Mind if I join Ye? Not many openings, you.... know, I mean.... uh..." Tyrus spoke up and waving a hand up trying to politely get this girls attention as she listened to her music. "Least she like music..... I think? Maybe that could be something to chat over while we sit here.... if we sit here, together, of course, I mean....., umm..... Oh I don't know, maybe she's a motivational tape guru, kinda cassette fan or something? Maybe she hates music? Or what if I keep fumbling?..... oh maybe I should just shut it and keep silent. Would that be awkward? Wouldn't be awkward would it? Ah man...." Tyrus thought to himself, realizing he should have came super early and avoided this chance to fumble and stumble.

At first Alice didn't notice the boy standing in the door of her compartment, until she saw the movement of him waving his hand out of her peripheral vision. Glancing towards him, she blinked for a second before figuring he had most likely said something to her. Quickly pulling her headset from her ears to hang around her neck as it usually did, she smiled brightly at him, glad it seemed for once she wasn't being mistaken for a boy.

"Were you asking if you could sit here?" she asked politely, not thinking the fact that she hadn't heard him the first time rude," If that's the case, yeah! Definitely!"

Alice looked over her companion curiously for a moment before flashing out her skinny arm to hold between them, her hand pointed towards him.

"Hi, I'm Alice, Alice Montgomery," she introduced brightly her voice as loud as her hair was tall, but not in a definitely irritating way, merely energetic.

SusannaSusanna and her brother hadn't taken long to get on board. Sidney had led her to the back of the train where there were scarce few empty compartments left, and many filling up fast or already full. Susanna wasn't worried about not finding a place to sit however. Even aside from the obvious solution of magic the train had other passenger cars attached and the compartments on any of the others would have available seats too. That being a passing thought as she hugged the cat closer to her, trying to avoid being in the way of other passengers with the slightly large carrier, Susanna diligently tailed Sidney who motioned her into a compartment. She barely had time to register whether she was alone or with anyone else when her brother gave her a curt nod and a familiar ruffled pat on the head.

Susanna savored the familiar feeling for the heart beat that it lasted. She wasn't the worrying type nor did she get all that nervous and shy but she was on completely new ground here and she knew no one she was sure. But she did know her brother and she knew his public aloofness came against her too. He wouldn't want to "babysit" his little first year sister on the train to Hogwarts.

"M'good, Sid." The petite, short haired witch gave her brother an open smile. Sidney nodded in relief, the poster child for a lackey older brother and trotted off down the aisle. As he had turned to leave Susanna could make out the conspicuous bulge of his pet rat, Fig, wheedling his way along the back of the Slytherin boys' shirt. The moment her brother had disappeared from immediate view Susanna rolled her eyes in mock exasperation and dropped into the empty space on the cushioned seat. Setting Styx's cage at her feet she wonder briefly if Hermes would be alright. She dismissed the thought as ridiculous and turned to survey the tiny space, ready to greet any other occupants.

Oh, she noticed but more then that responded. Tyrus froze for a second half wishing she hadn't noticed him, because now he was feeling like a mist entered his mind and obscured his thoughts and words, while a earthquake just shook everything up like that boggle game. All the sudden his words were twisting, fumbling and clumsily coming to mind. Finally after a moment of awkwardness on his part- Tyrus smiled and gave a nod before looking toward the girl. She had taken her headset off quickly upon noticing nervous boy and spoke to him.

Tyrus had noticed her smile and immediately thought of how good of a sign that has to be. After all when wasn't a smile a good sign? It just had to mean that a nervous, girl shy young lad like Tyrus must have not embarrassed himself yet, least not too badly if he had. Meanwhile as Alice spoke up and responded with a question of what he might have asked, Tyrus nodded softly with a kind smile and nervous silence at first. The tone of her voice however seemed kind, polite..... She was still a girl and Tyrus still had no clue of what to say without thinking how he'd foul it up. But that small act was a helpful sight and sound to hear. It might help him after all.

When she spoke and said yes, definitely. Tyrus smiled and sighed in relief that she said yes. Even letting out a "Phew" exhale of breath and letting himself breath again. "Umm.... I mean, Awesome! Yeah cool.. okay." Tyrus spoke with a smile toward her and entered the compartment some more with a few steps.

Then it happened...... The look over. She was looking him over and that brought to mind further thoughts and overthinking of what happened now. Did he forget his fly? He nearly checked that and his laces and himself overall before stopping himself from doing so, it wouldn't after all help his image or keep himself from looking foolish. But then she stretched out her arm and offered it with a shake gesture.

He breathed another bit of relief after realizing it was nothing like his mind had conjured up in his mind. Tyrus then shifted his hands, using one to readjust and hold his case and used the other to stretch forward to Alice as she introduced herself.

Taking her hand and giving a shake while offering a smile. He could tell by her voice that she was a energetic one, her hair nearly matched her voice. Though Tyrus saw that as refreshing when he thought it over for a second. Slowly his smile became bigger and relaxed a bit in posture.
"Hey.. Nice to meet you... Alice! I'm Tyrus by the way..... Tyrus Zanewood. You could call me TJ though if you prefer..... My middle initial is a j... so tha-" He paused realizing how he was going to look by finishing that sentence. He then shook his head and chuckled to try and ease things over. "I mean.... You probably assumed that already. Anyways nice to meet you, again... I mean... umm," He paused again trying to fight back his nerves. "I see you've got a Walkman..... Don't suppose your a music fan too? I mean..... It's cool if your not, I mean that whole guru motivational stuff or self guru... uh I mean, you know? ... It's cool if your into that as well. " Tyrus smiled trying to break his ice and get to know Alice by making use of his observation that she had a Walkman and was listening to it.

Meanwhile he walked over to the seat across from Alice and took off his guitar case carefully, in order to prevent from accidentally hitting the girl he just met. That could be bad..... really awkward
too. Putting the case next to him near the window while keeping eye contact with Alice.

Alice was happy to see him sit across from her, as many of her classmates in her past, muggle school, thought her rather odd and would often not spend terribly much time around her, besides those whom were good of heart. She'd never paid much mind to it, but it did feel good to have someone not treat her like some sort of alien. She listened to him introduce himself with a polite smile. But, when he brought up her walkman she couldn't help but break into an excited grin again.

"You know what a walkman is? Sorry it's just I've met lots of wizard blokes who don't... yes yes your course! I love music! What do you usually listen to? I tend to like more rock music because that's what my parents introduced me to and I've just loved it ever since, but if you don't like it that's fine, but have you heard any? Zeppelin? Kansas? You've got to at least heard some AC/DC. I mean if you've heard stuff like the Beatles and Rolling Stones that's cool too! I love those old guys!" she said, it seemed all in one breath, her eyes wandering around as if she were looking at nothing in particular as she spoke, her hands also moving in gestures that meant to emphasize her words, though she did it unconsciously. Her gaze snapped back to him now though as she sat forward in her seat expectantly, hoping that he knew some of the music she liked, and if not perhaps she could give him a brief "education" during their train ride to the school.

Alice really didn't notice how chatty she was, as her parents always laughed it off and she just considered it one of her quirks.

Tyrus was relieved to know that Alice seemed to overlook or not notice his blunders. You'd think a guy with a voice and able to play guitar would have more girl sense and confidence, but for reasons he couldn't explain..... Tj was a complete mess around girls. Even years of self conscious effort, talks with his mum and dad even his dads band mates and some were some pretty back up singers offering him encouragement and being sweet to him. But Tyrus still never seemed to finally overcome his shyness and confidence issues. Seeing Alice and meeting her without experiencing the laughs he often received and awkward moments he had in those times. Provided a nice boost.

But then unexpectedly and somehow Tyrus said or did something to cause her smile to increase with her grin. "Did I actually make a girl smile? No way..... Did I?" Tyrus thought with smile and nod, listening to Alice speak. It might not have been noticed but her excited talk about music and the different bands, era of music and different things she listens too, was truly easing things for Tj's nerves. It distracted his mind from what he might do to embarrass himself and all the overthinking he often had a tendency to do.

"Your joking, right? I do though. I'm a half-blood who's all about music and being around my dad and his band growing up, it's most of what I know. My Mum and I even traveled with them, while he was....." Tyrus paused, he started off with a bright smile and chuckle, but slowed down with brief sad look as he spoke of his father and the times he and his mum used to travel with his dads band while they traveled around trying to accomplish a long chased dream of getting noticed and hitting the big time. "I mean..... While the band and him traveled to cities, pubs and music festivals trying to get noticed and make the big leagues of music." He spoke with a smile and recalling momentarily some fond memories.

Meanwhile though hearing all her bands, favored genre of music and talking music in general brought a giant smile to face. He loved music himself, it helped him in ways few things could or even could be explained by the shy boy. It helped him cope with his fathers death, brought him and his mum even closer then they were already and coping together after the tragedy and sudden loss of his father.
"Me? I love those bands myself too. But I really enjoy the older stuff most. Like Roy Orbison and Elvis, the animals and Beatles. So many cool songs and slower, more personal settings and rhythms to the music and the meaning in those songs from the older years. I even.......umm I... just really like old stuff, you know?" He spoke pausing briefly and stopping himself from revealing his musical habits and song writing attempts.

Truthfully he was just glad his mind was distracted and things were going
so well. Loving the fact he met someone with a seeming shared passion for music. "You listen to Elton John or maybe Rep speedwagon? Journey and Styx, Foreigner? I love Kansas and AC/DC too and Zepplin, oh and the stones. Great stuff!" Tj spoke excitedly as they talked of music.

"Oh yeah, you wouldn't believe how many of these wizards have never in their lives seen a walkman or any kind of 'muggle' technology," she responded, her face lit up with excitement at their topic. Rock music was one of her greatest passions, though most her age found it a bit odd.

"Your dad was in a band? That is so cool!" she commented as he talked, shifting a bit in her seat in excitement, deciding for now that perhaps it was better not to bring up the sad look TJ had for a moment when talking about his dad.

"Oh i get that, I absolutely love old cars! They're just so much cooler than anything made today, y'know?" she inserted when he brought up how he liked old things.

"Oh all if it!" she responded enthusiastically, waving her hand before her as she did subconsciously," I usually like the more hard core stuff, but I will admit I do have a soft spot for the King and Sir Elton John. And "Hey Jude" was my absolute favorite song for the longest time when I was little. Little-er that is. I wish I could sing like some of them, the greats, but I can't carry a tune in a bucket, as one of my choir teachers once said."

Alice laughed at her own words here, her snort lightly under-toning her light, melodic laugh," and I did take guitar lessons once but, my teacher ran away to get married to some guy in America!"

Brynn felt as though she might just explode, but she managed to contain the overwhelming excitement. The only telltale signs were a slight bounce in her step and a smirk that was fighting the urge to break out into a grin. She headed through the train station, pushing her cart as her father followed behind her with a smile on his face. She and her mother had exchanged "I love you"s and kissed each other goodbye back at their home before her mother left for work. Something confidential that Brynn wasn't allowed to know about had come up, but while she had been a little disappointed at home, any trace of such feeling had been covered up by her eagerness to start going to school, leave home for an extended period of time, and get into all sorts of adventures and mischief.

They finally reached the portal to the station, and Brynn could not have been more excited to potentially ram into a brick wall. Brynn's father smiled and waved towards Mrs. Weasley, but before he could initiate conversation, Brynn tugged on his arm to grab his attention.

"Okay, dad! I think I'm ready to go! All I've got to do is run through that pillar, right?" she asked, already knowing the answer. She just wanted something to say, as she wasn't sure how to say goodbye.

"That's right, darling," her father said with a chuckle. "Be a good kid alright? And make sure to write us every so often. And don't get into too much trouble!"

"Alright, alright! I get it! But no promises," she said. She paused for a moment before hugging her father. Then with her voice slightly muffled in his shirt, she said, "Goodbye dad."

"Goodbye love. I know you'll make us proud," he said, holding her tight to his chest and kissing the top of her head before letting her go. She turned and grabbed onto her cart, facing the column with determined confidence.

She took a deep breath and charged forward, and if she flinched a little right before the nonexistent impact, well surely nobody had noticed. Before she even knew it, she was surrounded by the wonder that her father had described to her in the weeks leading up to today. She pushed onward marveling at all the sights before catching sight of her (kind-of?) friend Milena. Not that Brynn didn't consider Milena a friend, she just wasn't sure if Milena reciprocated those feelings.

Speeding up a bit to reach her kind-of-friend, Brynn gave a small smile and decided to gauge the friendliness between them by saying, "Hello Milena! Been a while since I've seen you. How have you been?"

Tyrus smiled and almost chuckled at the thought of wizards and witches who never knew even saw such muggle technology. It seemed like a simple thing that everyone knew about and used. It made him wonder what they listened to then? What did they do for fun and relaxation? "Wow..... I couldn't imagine what that would be like. Tv, music..... What do they do for fun?" Tyrus laughed and listened to Alice. Seeing her face light up with excitement was warming his face as his features brightened. " It was pretty cool! Not to brag but I can't say otherwise. Really was exciting and taught me a lot about music. He and his band never made it big, but kept Chasing the dream and put on some cool shows." Tyrus added with a smile, it was a bittersweet memory and topic for him where it concerned his pops. But overall the topic of music and being able to talk to someone about it with such passion was awesome to him. He had some friends back home, but none were quite as big into music like himself and Alice seemed to be. Least not the same kinds.

"Yeah! Older cars, music, great stuff and really true, ore originality back then. I think." Tj spoke replying to Alice as they spoke of older generations of music and cars.

"Really?! Me too. I mean.... I said that already, huh?" Tyrus laughed shifting In his seat and leaning forward a bit. Becoming rather relaxed and not minding the hand waves, as she spoke with the enthusiasm and gestures with hands that seemed new to him with music conversations with kids his age. Especially when they were girls as his tendency to overthink and stumble were high then. "Roy Orbisons music really kinda hits home for me. I love his 'She's a mystery to me' and so many of his songs. But Hey Jude was great too! Really well written. Some classic work by the Beatles." Tyrus spoke his openness and enthusiasm improving the more he spoke and listened to Alice spoke back to him.

Meanwhile when Alice spoke of singing and unable to carry a tune in a bucket. Tyrus chuckled a bit without appearing rude though, but seeing her laugh at her own story about her singing and her choir teacher made it seem ok for TJ to laugh in turn.

Allowing him to stay relaxed and not tense up with a mistake.
"Guitar lessons? Ah cool. I play..... I mean,.... um, some anyways, probably could teach you, If you'd like? I mean if your ever curious about picking up the axe again. I just got a Acoustic but its about the same as your typical electric but with differences of course. Maybe you'll be able to transfer the skills to the more hardcore stuff you like best? I mean... i don't know. Could happen though." Tyrus spoke finding himself offering to help her with the guitar without even realizing it. Almost finding himself revealing much about his music side and what he could sing and play.

But the conversation was so smooth and great in his opinion. He was getting relaxed and just talking, being kind without giving much thought and just talking.

Rufus VanDamIt was a normal september day, the sun shined brightly trough some clouds. A group of four tall guys and a slightly less tall women were walking firmly towards the entrance of Kings Cross. The boy looked much like their father, they would probably turn out to be as tall as he.
Except from their height, they didn't stand out, this was because the VanDam family was wearing their muggles clothes. The oldest of the three sons was quickly finding his way trough the mass, followed by his two younger brothers and finally their parents, James and Maria VanDam.

Rufus was walking next to his older brother Alex, both were pushing a trolley forward with all their stuff. Both trolleys featured also a cage with a short eared owl. Rufus looked up trough his brother who just asked him where platform 9 3/4, adding that it was next to platform 11 last year "I don't know, but I guess.." he was stopped mid sentence by his father shouting "Alex, don't mess with your little brother" Rufus saw his brother turning his head towards their father to give him an angry look but James just smiled. Rufus understood that his brother was just messing with him and if he followed Chris they would turn out at Hogwarts at some point.

Arriving at the pillar of 9 3/4, Rufus looked to Chris giving his parents a hug, followed by Alex and finally it was his turn to say goodbye to his parents. While he hugged his mother she whispered in his ear "Don't listen to much to Rufus, and if he does something stupid, just tell it to Chris, he'll know what to do" Rufus smiled to his mother and kissed her before turning around. Rufus saw that Chris and Alex were already gone "So, trough the pillar?" He looked a little scared to his dad who simply nodded and smiled "Yes boy, good luck and have the time of your life!" Rufus would have it certainly better at school than his two oldest brothers, Grant and Chris who bother were at school during the Wizarding War.

Rufus finally gathered the courage to walk trough the pillar. Just before the pillar he closet his eyes. Once he opened his eyes he saw the big red train steaming. It was beautiful. The young lad tried searching for his older brothers and noticed Chris board the train, Alex was nowhere to find. With his trolley he quickly ran to Chris who helped him getting all the stuff on board of the train "So, where are you going to sit little one?" Chris was always nice to his younger brother "Well, I don't know old one" Rufus replied grinning. He had totally no clue what he was supposed to do "Alright, you can sit with me I guess" Together they found a cabin who was still empty, it was probably one of the last ones. Each student who entered the cabin looked at Chris, turned around and left again. They didn't wanted to sit with the associate teacher.

"So, what do you think of all this?" Chris looked to his younger brother while he was opening a box full of different candy and trowing one towards Rufus
"It's amazing!.." Rufus exclaimed ".. everything is so big and so like us" Chris smiled "Indeed, everyone is a wizard here.. what about the school?" "I'm not sure yet, I think everything should be fine" Rufus really hoped his brother wouldn't have him as student. From what he had heard of Alex, Chris was not friendly during lessons.. well, maybe it could be Alex joking, but still, when other students would find out that his brother was a teacher other kids would maybe treat him different.

As soon as Alex walked trough the pillar he moved into the train. Moving trough all the cabins he tried to find one with some friends, or at least, some 6th graders

"You'd really teach me? That'd be rad!" she exclaimed, smiling widely and punching him lightly in the shoulder as a show of love. Alice has always been one to show her emotions with words and actions, sometimes disregarding those of others," is that your guitar?"

She pointed to the guitar case that sat near the back of the compartment against the wall of the train and window.

"Well of course it is, unless you're some kind of spy or something who pretends he has a guitar," she joked, glad the atmosphere between them was an extremely relaxed and cheerful one.

Evan had been on the platform for some time now, though she'd yet to enter the train. She had been helping along first years with their things if they couldn't get a man or woman whose job it was to see them. She had also been herding other students from years below hers onto the train, and socializing with her friends and others in her class. Everyone always insisted she would make a marvelous prefect, but, Evan wasn't really interested. Quiddich was her passion, and she wanted nothing to take away from that. Finally making her way into the train and searching for a compartment containing faces she recognized- and liked- Evan managed to run smack into another boy.

"Oh! I am so sorry," she apologized quickly, making sure the other person was alright and on their feet," I'd best be watching where I'm going more carefully- oh hey, you're... Sidney, right?"

Though she may not know everyone personally, Evan liked to learn at least the names of most everyone at Hogwarts, if not that of every single person. While she'd never really spent time talking with the fourth year, Evan did see him in the halls and in a class or two. He also seemed to share her interest in quiddich, as she'd seen him at every match the past year. He'd never missed a one that she could remember, as she tended to attend them all as well.

SidneyAfter he had left Susanna to fend for herself he had started the familiar search for a seat of his own. He had wanted to meet up with some of his fellow classmates, but as it was he had no way to know where they had gone to so he passed compartment after compartment looking. He had stopped briefly to stick his head in and greet a Slytherin group he did know but the cabin was too full so he kept moving. Fig was annoyed by the jerky movements Sidney was making as he worked his way down the hallway and the Slytherin teen gave his pet an apologetic pat. The rat was trying to curl up at the base of his spine, and Sidney was glad that his shirt was tucked in and his belt was tight enough that it supported him. Just as he was shutting the door he got knocked sideways.

"Hey!" It wasn't a hard collision, nor did he lose much of his balance but it caught him off guard and he let out a grunt as he tried not to hurt himself on the door he was in the middle of shutting. What really startled him was the alarmed squeak that came from his torso and Sidney quickly righted himself, his hands going to his waist as he attempted to locate his oversized pet rat. Looking up at the offending person Sidney stepped away from the door, trying to stay out of the way of others. His hands were still cradling his back, reassured by the bulk of Fig and trying to untuck his shirt so he could hold him. He could feel the sting of the claws on his back and he hoped Fig hadn't bit him. Rats were temperamental sometimes. So was Sidney he guessed, maybe that was why he loved Fig.

Feeling calmer now that he knew the impact hadn't hurt Fig Sidney tucked his head at the stranger only to realize that she wasn't truly a stranger. He gave the blonde a confused look as he pulled his arm back around, holding the tawny colored rodent gingerly in his hands. "Yeah...it's fine, no harm. " Sidney cleared his throat, rubbing a thumb along Fig's flank. He wasn't a jerk- most of the time- and he couldn't really hold a grudge against this girl for doing something everyone had done at least once on this train during their career at Hogwarts. He knew he recognized this girl and he didn't want to ask in case he was supposed to know her. Then he remembered that she wasn't a Slytherin, he knew that much. but at this point, not many students were sporting their colors. "Sorry, I don't think we've met. Sidney Rosewarne, and who would you be?"

Sidney straightened to his full height and tried to recover his usual air. He didn't like being stuck in the middle of the aisle way, the train would be moving anytime soon and he really wanted to find his friends and a seat. But he supposed he at least had to interact with this girl first. Briefly, he wondered if she would be afraid of Fig. The rat was harmless but he knew he had caused an uproar with girls before. Of course, there had been a few young boys he had gotten a reaction from.

Evan smiled, hoping her embarrassment didn't show too much on her features, as she knew she was rather clumsy. The boy pulled a rat from his shirt and held it before him and Evan couldn't help but smile. It reminded her of one of her brother's rats that had basically become hers after he left to train to become an auror. She didn't really consider it hers, but it did seem to really like her room, so she let it stay there. Glancing up to him as he introduced himself, she was relieved to find that she hadn't completely butchered his name.

"Evan, Jackson," she said simply and matter-of-factly, her features calm and resting in a smile, as she was lucky enough to be blessed with kind features, at least, that's how her mother phrased it," sorry 'bout running into you, is your rat okay?"

She expected he didn't find many girls who looked at the rat before them and found it rather endearing, but, Evan had never really had any problem with animals of any and all kinds. Nor bugs, besides those ghastly spiders. Perhaps it came with being the only girl in a family filled to the brim with boys who were just as rowdy and obnoxious as any boy should be.

"....Well... That was strange... I get the feeling my life is about to get a LOT stranger."

It's a pretty strange experience. Walking through a wall and finding a secret train on a secret platform 9 3/4, to a secret wizard school in God knows where, with all your luggage and a squirrel in tow. All this after walking through a brick wall, buying books on "charms" and "herbology" and "Muggle History"? Then, proceeding to go to some old guy who shoved wand after wand after wand into her hand and telling her to wave it around till the lights started to flicker and a sudden wind blew through the shop, which means the wand had "chosen" her?

This has probably been the strangest day she's ever had.

"...So, do I get on the train, or...?" She looked around, then started following all the other eleven years with her luggage behind her. The red squirrel perched on her shoulder looked around with a walnut in his little paws, gnashing at it with his teeth. She couldn't help but feel out of place, all these kids had their parents with them, wishing them well, sending them off to school like this was an ordinary thing. Walking through walls.

With a little time and effort, Joey managed to drag herself onto the train without looking like a complete fool. She looked around the train as she walked down the middle hall, looking into the compartments as she passed, trying to figure out how this crazy place worked. Were there assigned seats? Did she have to sit with other newbies, or... Or what? She looked very confused in general.

SidneySidney couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the reaction to Fig, or rather the lack thereof. The slight drop of disappointment was replaced by grudging admiration though, she had to be one of the first girls he had met that he hadn't managed to startle. He wasn't exactly the type to do boyish pranks but still at times seeing someone scream at the sight of a rat tail or nose slip out of his clothes was funny to him. Letting Fig release himself from his hands and burrow down his sleeve Sidney nodded at Evan, offering her his hand like he had been taught too. He was respectful and humble enough to not be cold.

"Nice to meet you," Sidney said then he gave her a quirky grin, his eyebrow raising a tad. A slight tease crossed his mind and he tested the waters. Might as well make an acquaintance, right? "But, um, isn't Evan a boys' name?" He looked down at her with a subtly appraising look. He didn't do it in a creepy way, of course, just the way one would get the feel of a person. She wasn't that short and she definitely wasn't bad looking either. She was actually quite pretty if he admitted it. "And yeah, Fig is fine. He's tough, just easily irritated."

At the mention of his name the rat poked his head out from Sidney's sleeve, which just so happened to be the arm that Sidney had extended to Evan. Sidney gave her a flashy smile and shrugged. "See, no hard feelings." Fig gave a confirmation squeak and emerged a little more to sniff at Evan's hand.

She couldn't help but chuckle at his reaction to her name, which tended to come from most everyone she met. Thankfully for Evan, she had no hard feelings towards her name, feeling it made her unique.

"Boys' name perhaps, but here I am rockin' it all the same," she joked with a crooked smile, where one corner of her mouth almost seemed to perk higher than the other. She lent her own hand to him and couldn't help a light-hearted laugh as the rat seemed to almost confirm what his owner was saying. Sidney seemed like he came from a rather "proper" wizarding family what with his posture and all, and she swore she knew the last name as one of the pure-blooded ones in europe. True, she was a pure-blood herself, but not many witches and wizards tended to know her family name as pure-blooded as they were also a primarily american family. But, he also seemed like a good kind of guy.

Adrian Coldstone.
Mood: nervous, excited, a little sa
"Just like I said, huh?" Adrian's father said, doing his best to sound cheerful as he walked up to the wall that Adrian knew was the gateway to platform 9 3/4. It was a strange feeling going through. He and his father started jogging towards the wall, with all of his chocolate supplies and trunk. Simon wouldn't stop screeching. For the sake of his father, if not just the situation being as amazing as it was, Adrian would need to act happy. "Even better than I dreamed!" He exclaimed with faux ecstasy. Today was most likely the most important day of his life, but he couldn't help but fell a bit somber. His father had never fully recovered from his mother's death and this would be the last time he would see his son for a long time and Adrian didn't like the idea of his father being constantly alone. But today was his day. The first day of the rest of his life. His first day at Hogwarts. Suddenly, the father and son were standing in a bristling crowd full of wizards and witches ready to be shipped off to school. Some were weeping, some were practically screaming with joy, and others just looked downright confused. After several tight hugs and and goodbyes and I love yous, Adrian was on the
train.
The first thing he noticed was that the train was loud. Students were running back and forth through the different compartments with no regard for anyone in between them. He saw a big puff of yellow smoke go off in one compartment and a sudden scream in another. It also seemed that seats were beginning to fill up. "Excuse me, may I sit here?" He tentatively asked when he had a found an area with two older students. "Eff off firstie," he said with a sneer. Firstie? Was that some kind of insult? Adrian squeezed out a weak smile and walk away. After several minutes of searching for a good place to sit he walked up to two boys who looked like brothers. One was his age. He decided he might as well ask to sit with them. "Um, do you mind if I sit here?" He asked with a smile. Hopefully this boy wouldn't turn out like the others.

"Yeah! I mean..... Why not?..... I think I could anyways." Tyrus spoke with a smile and half confident sounding reaction. Though it was more in his confidence then what Alice could do with a guitar. He figured she'd do fine, but since he's never taught someone before and he lacked some self confidence, it was limiting his certainty. Meanwhile he brightened his smile with his cheeks growing red a bit as she lightly punched his arm in a way that seemed to him like a show of thanks or love perhaps? It was enough either way to make the young lad blush a little.

Turning his head toward the guitar near him and leaning up against wall and window. Before returning his focus back to Alice,
"Yeah! Definitely! It's an old one that belonged to my dad. I take it everywhere with me, never kno-......." He pasued seeming like he was about to reveal more about himself. Though it seemed to most that song writing, singing and playing a instrument was common and nothing to embarrass over. Tyrus still felt shy about his own. "Umm...... I..... you know like a tune or something might come to mind. Plus habit and all, hard to stop carrying it around like I do. " Tyrus spoke slowly taking his case and offering the guitar to Alice to take a look if she wanted. The guitar itself was a smooth, Sunburst acoustic with black outline.

Tyrus laughed along with Alice as she joked. Shaking his head and chuckling along.
"Hey..... Good cover if I was..... Maybe I'm a spy in the making, gimmick and all." Tj responded joking back and adding to it.
