Jeppe submitted a new resource:
Essence Storage Devices (version 1.0) - Expanded rules for artifacts like the Lightning Box in different MMs
Level 2-3 Artifact
Since the first age, Exalted of the different types have created devices, which allow them to store additional Essence, or to...
In the games I've attended, two-weapon fighting never really made it as crunch. We used the rules for fighting with one weapon and only used dual-wielding for describing cool stunts.
The way I see it, the combat rules don't reward dual-wielding. One thing I would like, would be the option of...
One example, off the top of my head, of a rather large dice pool, is using the sorcery spell Wood Dragon's Claw (Core, p. 254) and giving it (up to) 10 accuracy. He then uses Water Dragon From (DB, p. 208), to boost his Martial Arts rating to 10.
He now has (ideally) dex 5, MA, 10, Acc. 10...
Regarding invisible creatures, I don't think I'd allow my players an awareness check, unless they knew someone invisible was near. So... If the Exalt didn't know that there was an invisible peeping Tom in her (his?) bedroom, then activating this charm would allow a roll. In my games, that is.
I fully agree. There's something really cool about building a type of Exalted around a theme of Transformers meets Terminator meets Fembots. You gotta love it.
I don't think that 'redemption' is the issue. If someone enjoys feeling powerful with a fictional character, who excels at this or that, that's just fine with me. I don't think that 'true role-playing' is inherently better than roll-playing (thanks for that word by the way. We have it in Danish...
Minimum damage is always 1.
I usually don't use social combat - instead I use one or two rolls of attribute + ability vs. the opponents MDV to see how the scene turns out.
I use Resolve and Composure instead of Perception and Appearance.
And I don't really keep track of training times...
To me, the concept of powergaming is, when a player cares more about the mechanics of his character, than the credibility of it. When the player doesn't care about any (interesting) explanation on how or why the character does what it does, or learns what it learns, but just goes straight for...
I don't recall any specific rules on the subject either, but stunting always works, and that has the added benefit of not making the system slower.
In any case, try checking out Falling Blossom Style (Scroll of the Monk, p. 43). It has some nifty charms that concern themselves with exactly...
As one of those exalted players who didn't start collecting books until second edition, I'm now wondering if maybe there is anything I'm missing out on. So I ask this:
Are any of the 1e books still worth purchasing, or is all the stuff in there revised and republished in various 2e books?
I disagree with you on this point. The two combos (with and without Peony Blossom Attack) fulfill two different roles.
Without Peony Blossom Attack, the character may attack normally and only activate the combo when pressed and in need of strong defenses.
With Peony Blossom Attack, the...
He looks fine, job well done.
The only thing I'm wondering about, which is flavour rather than system, is why he does MA? As the weird robo-extraterrestrial, I think it would be neat to show the characters some of the Alchemical combat charms instead of some of the same charms found in...
In this case, I'd rule that the wound penalties and the sickness are internal penalties, and thus must be subtracted from the dice pool, and that the shield and the high ground are external bonuses and should be added after (DV pool)/2 and before DV x 2. Note that this is subjective ruling.
I...
Actually, in the buttom of my heart, I've always felt that focusing essence into raw blasts was a cheap way to use magic force into making laser beams and that it somehow lessoned the grandeur of essence and essence-wielding creatures. But I grew to agree to it, with Exalted being over the top...
So-
Appearantly there's been no discussion of this book since it came out. I've only flipped through it, but I hate it already. The twin facts that they decided to introduce cannons - actual cannonball-shooting cannons - and also felt the need to create a flamethrower (as if firewands wasn't...
