Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

Tori had just nodded to Miyuki when she stated that she would cover them, Her hand reached up into the air and she snatched the keys that the girl had thrown her way. They almost slipped through her fingers, whether it was because of the nerves, the adrenaline that was making her shake or the slick wet blood that was starting to dry a little and crust on her fingers. Tori stashed her knife in the waist band of her trousers and took a deep breath, She needed to keep her head she didn't wanna be standing here messing with these keys for a lifetime. The blonde headed straight for the first door and leaned down on her knees and began the task of matching key to lock. She swore it was taking her a lifetime when in reality it was only taking seconds but still with each thump of her heart it felt like time was stretching out longer and longer. The first key promptly slid into the lock and she twisted opening the door slowly and cautiously. "Shit" it was empty. Making use of the blood on her hands she put a mark on the key so she would know she had tried it already.

She didn't waste much time and quickly moved onto the next door, she was more concentrated and determined in her task now. It didn't take so long to find the second key. She had figured out a system and started matching keys to the ones that looked most like the lock..some even had names on them which was quite helpful but once more she came up empty. A string of curses exited Tori's mouth that would have awarded her a quick slap across the back of the head had she been anywhere near her mother but at this point she didn't care. She marked the key again as she had the one before and went to move on only to pause at the flurry of shots she heard coming from the floor below them. She stared down at the floor her eyes wide as though she would get to look right through it any minute. It seemed eerie when it finally went silent "We should go back..." She stated and lifted her head to look at miyuki. "We need to go back down there we aint getting shit up here and i dunno what all that was just about..but it didn't sound good"

Rather than tammy hugging the girl with excitement. Or telling her it'll be ok she stood there. The woman was coated it wet and partially dried blood. She was shaking probably from lack of food and water. And whatever happened in this room. It looked like she won the battle. Bodies littered the ground. Blood pooled all over the tile floors. Tammy breathless walked inside the room that now was lit up buy a light she found still worked. On the blood filled floor of the temporary prison room, tammy saw weapons used for killing along with a machete on the ground. It was well was coated in blood. Tammy glanced around the room seeing the duct tape that was used to tie down their victims. Perhaps jenn was one of them. Tammy walked over slowly to the machete... she skimmed papers through her head. Mental notes. Her mind scavenged itself in thought. Her mind clicked her idea just planted.

Tammy picked up the machete wiping off the blood on the bench that jenn was strapped to. She felt the weight. About less than 2 pounds. "This will be useful."

Alot more went into her head besides death and despair in this room. Alot of depression and mixed feelings. Although through all of this tammy managed to create something that would steep inside her mind.

"Time to go jenn." As she ran through the halls waiting for her to catch up

@Jennifer Shotain

Tammy just stared at her. Jennifer assumed she was stunned to see her in the shape she was, with the scene she stood in. She watched as Tammy walked towards the bloody machete that Jennifer had to use. She picked it up and cleaned it off and then took it. This slightly annoyed Jennifer. It was a symbol of the things she had to do, the things that changed her. But now wasn't the time to argue it.

"No shit," Jennifer said as she walked out of the room behind Tammy, who ran.

The girl didn't care to run. She was quite frankly so exhausted that she didn't know if she had the energy to. All she knew was that she was pissed.

As she was about to run past a room, a man jumped out with a bladed object, and swung at her. Jennifer used her gun to block the blade from hitting her. And while the man was trying to bring his arm back around to hit her, Jennifer kicked him in the gut. He jolted back in pain.

"Fucking bitch," he yelled back to her.

Jennifer was in so much anger that this only added fuel to the fire. She tookthe butt of her rifle and hit him on the back. He fell to his knees. And at this moment, he dropped the knife. He tried to grab for it, but Jennifer shot his hand. He recoiled back and started yelling profanities at her. She looked at him with a blank, emotionless expression.

In a fit of pure anger and rage, she shot him in the knees. He jolted about, and cried out in pain. She continued to look at him emotionlessly.

"Please," he cried out to her in pain, "don't kill me, please. I didn't want to be a part of this group. They forced me to join. I had no choice. Please, don't kill me, please. I'm sorry I had to do this, please don't kill me," he said, crying and begging for mercy.

She just stared down at him with a blank face. He tried to get up, and used the only arm not shot to do so. As soon as his hand touched the ground, she shot it. He again recoiled in pain and began to cry and beg for mercy more.

"Please, I can help you get out, show you where the supplies are; guns, ammo, medicine! Anything! Please, I beg you, don't kill me," said the man, begging for one last chance at mercy from Jennifer.

"Fucking bastard," she said to him blankly.

She didn't feel for these people, not after what they made her do. She didn't care for them. They were in her way and were responsible for what she did, direct or indirectly; or not at all.

She shot him again in the arms and legs once more, and then turned around and walked down the hall to catch up with Tammy. While she walked, she could hear him crying and screaming at her. She left him there to either bleed out in pain or get eaten by a walker. She simply didn't care at this point after what they did to her.

Jennifer blocked it out and found Tammy around the corner.

"Where the hell is everyone," she asked, rifle up and scanning for more enemies.

Austin listened as the group of men split in half, two going after Tammy and two into his room. This was good, this gave both he and Tammy a chance. Austin took one deep breath with his back against the cold wall, between the shadows and footsteps he could tell they'd entered the room and were only a few feet away from him. His heart was racing, sweat dripped down his head, and he could barely hear their breathing over the blood in his ears. But he could tell they were just about to open the bathroom door, but if they did it would be empty.

Bang.

A shot from Tammy's room and Austin's eyes widened and his voice hitched, he had to peek. So he did, and both men happened to be looking towards the doorway and Austin took his advantage by raising the pistol to the back of the strangers head and pulling the trigger. Brain matter covered the still closed bathroom door, and Austin focused on his movement towards the second man who was turning around. Just as he moved the gun towards the second mans head the stranger had already started throwing his own arm up, so when Austin pulled the trigger the shot hit the roof instead because their arms had clashed.

"You stupid moth-!"

Austin quickly jabbed forwards with the hunting knife, catching the mans side but only just a gash. It was then that Austin realized that this guy was a bit...big. Instead of disarming him the large man simply grabbed one arm and rushed forwards which threw Austin off balance and the two moved across the room in a tussle for a foothold until Austin crashed halfway onto the hospital bed. All the guy had to do was throw around his weight and strength to keep Austin from gaining purchase, so Austin tried a different tactic and wrapped his legs around the man. If Austin couldn't gain balance then neither would this asshole, Let's see how you deal with both of our weight.

His vision blurred and his head hit the bed, realizing he'd just taken a hit to the face, followed by the wind being knocked out of him as the man sought to rid himself of Austin's weight by rendering him weak. Which to be fair, it worked, the blow had forced Austin's legs to slack a bit. Enough so that the big man dropped him to the floor this time. Dazed, Austin's hand scrambled against the floor for his gun, the knife, anything!

Then the hands were on him and pulling him upwards and thrown over the bed, crashing straight into the corner he'd been hiding in before. Quickly he realized the rifle was there and grabbed for where he'd left it, and with a quick fumble he managed to aim it before the man could close the distance. Slowly Austin stood with his eyes glaring, "Don't mov-"

Bang.

He'd moved.

"Stupid prick..." Austin mumbled as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. Slowly he moved across the room, collected his things and peeked out. The hallway was quiet...empty, "Don't tell me she went and got herself killed." Austin crossed the hall with one hand on his sore ribs. Two bodies lay in the room she had been in, and a quick search with his eyes told the man that Tammy wasn't here anymore.

Austin stuck his head out the door and looked up and down the hallway, he was worried now, and pissed. Either someone had taken Tammy away or something had drawn her attention enough for her to abandon him. That didn't matter, instead of thinking on it more he turned and started down the hall to follow after the direction Miyuki and Tori had gone.

@KathleneWilliams2121 @Lola Shimmer

Tammy signaled jenn to continue following her as tammy ran down the halls. By now her pistol was probably out of ammo. Along the course of running tammy gazed down at the machete in her hand. She enjoyed the weight behind it and enjoyed how it felt in her hand. She glanced down at her feet, her shoes were covered in blood. She panted running the course.

As tammy head toward the second floor they now had jenn now they need the rest of the group so they could all loot the gear they could carry. Jenn knew what kind of medical equipment to search for so at least we were ok there. And as for other equipment thye had to find enough supplies to last them a while. Tammy turned the hallways

Along reaching the hall of dead bodies she saw a standing human. At first glance she had no idea who or what he or she was. Alive or dead.

She firmed her grip on the machetes handle.

She decreased the distance between her and the other figure.

It was austin!

"Austin your ok!" Tammy saI'd approaching him.

She kind of at this moment realized she sort of abandon him during their personal battles. But on the bright side she managed to rescue jenn. Who wasnt really the same it felt. Tammy ignored her stupid impulsive desision and brushed it off.

"Meds for jenn..." Tammy stuttered.

@Crono @Jennifer Shotain

Miyuki nods her head as she looks over at Tori. She had a point, they were coming up with nothing and she was starting to get worried for their other half of their group. The fact that it went dead silent didn't sit well in her mind. "You're right, let's go back." She pulled out another arrow and when down the hall they came down from. Thoughts run though her mind. Did they make a bad call? What if the mission failed? No, she couldn't think about that. She had to concentrate. She then sees a shadow around the corner. She leans against the wall and sets her arrow. Once the shadow came closer she sprung out and was about to shoot when she sees it was Austin. She quickly puts down her arrow, "Sorry, Austin. Thought you were someone else." She was glad to know he was ok, but she saw he was alone, "Austin....where's Tammy?"

@Crono @Lola Shimmer

As Tammy pointed where to go, Jennifer could still hear the man behind her screaming. But she just didn't care. She felt he deserved the death he was given. He was guilty by just being a part of that group, in her eyes, and none of them were good. They all had to die, and especially after what they did to her.

As Tammy lead Jennifer, they came across a standing individual, be it dead or not. Jennifer raised her gun and aimed at the silhouette. She hesitated on pulling the trigger due to the fact that she didn't know who it was. But as soon as she heard Tammy say it was Austin by calling out to him, she lowered the gun. She still had no idea where everyone else was. Holiday, Tori, Miyuki, Nikole, and Tiff were all still unaccounted for at this time. She didn't know who went and who didn't. She assumed that Tiff wasn't here and with someone else, but she couldn't know for sure.

"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on and where everyone is at," said an annoyed Jennifer.

She didn't know how to address Austin. And right now, it didn't matter. She needed to know what was going on and who is where and is or isn't alive.

@tammynorthland @Crono

Tammy glanced she realized after the comment the she made to austin and the comment that jenn brought up about the mission, at this point tammy glances up. A special set of guests just joined them.

Miyuki and tori. Tammy ignored miyuki, not from what she did earlier but because her first comment stated that she didn't care about tammys and jenns preense. Moreso concerned about austin.

Which was fine. The adrenaline and nervousness had everyone at this point. Tammy glanced back to scan for any opposing threat. The gunshots continued signaling about Longshots presense still being known. She shook her head a tad. The machete dripped a spare drop of blood on the ground with a splat she almost felt.

"Time to move guys!" Tammy said without hesitation.

Dibbydoo said:
" Uhm, no. For the blood." She smiled awkwardly, timing the contractions in her heads. She sighed lightly, wearing her gloves and rubbing her belly, feeling the slight twitches against her hands, massaging her lightly to put the woman at ease. " I bet she'll be wonderfull and beautiful, just like you." She chuckled me trying to ease the moment. " Tell me when your compleatly ready, okay? She sat on her knees, getting ready for anything. She took a sanitary whipe, and cloeaned her, ending up using more than a few whites to clean the woman's legs thighs and other stufso no infections happened.
Tiffany just breathed between contractions and tried to relax, but as each minute passed it got harder and harder. She had been in labor nearly all day. At this point she really wanted it to end. Oddly enough, she could be getting her wish. "Yeah...I think so too..." She sighed, feeling relaxed. Placing a hand on her belly, she still continued to take deep breaths in between contractions, but would shed tears whenever they were strong and extremely sharp. Although she wanted to get up, she found it to be too much effort due to the fact she was currently in pain. "Oww!" She gasped after a strong contraction. "This one really wants to take her time, doesn't she?" She exclaimed in pain, gripping onto the seats before turning to her side and rubbing her belly, since laying flat on her back was starting to put a toll on her back. "You think they took over that hospital yet...?" she asked weakly.

Tori waited a moment for Miyuki to reply and her eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise when the girl agreed with her. Hmm good she thought to herself happily. Least they were agreeing on something. step forward and all that, she straightened up and shoved the keys into her pocket; They may as well keep a hold of them they could come in useful later. Wiping the blood on her hands onto her jeans Tori began to wander down the hall after Miyuki. Oddly the fear had left her..maybe it was because they were in here now and knew what to expect, it was no longer the big dangerous unknown enemy. Hmm it was a kind of strange floating sensation? perhaps that was the adrenaline though it was more realistically shock. She promptly pushed that to the side for now, it could be dealt with later now was not the time.

As they got closer to the corner at the end of the hallway and she saw Miyuki raise her arrow some Tori had to assume she had seen something she hadn't. She pulled her knife from her waistband and wiggled it in her hand a bit until she felt she had a good enough hold on it. Tori held her very breath as she tiptoed after the bow wielding girl in front and she tensed her very body ready to coil into attack at a seconds notice. However when the whole mood shifted so suddenly she stood there dumbfounded...no danger then? she thought to herself, but tori blinked when she realized who they had ran into. "Grumpy! you're not dead!" she declared happily but barely a second after registering they had ran into a living and breathing Austin she saw the the other two girls in the hallway. "JEN!" Tori breathed and so much tension left her body she hadn't realized she was holding that she thought she might fold in half. She half jogged walked towards her and was only mere steps away whens he saw the look on the woman's face and the ammount of blood she was covered in "Oh my god" she whispered horrified and looked her over. "Is any of this yours?! do you need medical attention? jen? JEN" she asked shaking her head. The hell had happened to her..god it made her shudder just to think of it. Tori bit her lip and rather than hugging Jen like she wanted to she just gave her arm a little squeeze, a hug might hav been just a little much to deal with right now after whatever horrors she had seen. "I'm glad your safe ok." she sighed and looked over at Tammy nodding her head "We ave jen, now we need her meds or we won't have a jen for an awfully long while." she pointed out.

@Crono @KathleneWilliams2121 @tammynorthland @Jennifer Shotain

At the sight of Miyuki aiming at him Austin had stumbled back a step momentarily and thrown his hands up a little, luckily she'd realized it before letting the arrow soar. A breath of relief as she lowered the bow, the man rubbed at his sore jaw from the throwdown with Mr. Big. "No clue, maybe someone grabbed her or maybe she ran off." Austin looked over his shoulder back in the direction he'd come and as fate would have it there came the woman running towards them, and she wasn't alone.

"Yeah, thanks for the help by the way." He'd said to Tammy in an frustrated sarcastic tone, now that he saw that Tammy was fine it would seem she had just run off and left him like he'd thought. Then turned to address Jennifer, "It's your rescue mission of course, damsel in distress and all that. The others are waiting for the five of us to make our escape, so I'd suggest we do so." Austin waved a lazy hand towards the way he'd just come from. "Right back out the way we came."

It would be easy to leave now, to just go, and honestly it was what Austin wanted to do. But they really could use the medicine for both Jennifer and Tiffany. The man glanced around at the four girls, "Don't suppose anyone stumbled in on their stash of meds?"

@KathleneWilliams2121 @Jennifer Shotain @Lola Shimmer @tammynorthland

Tammy pondered thoughts in her head. She was quite brash for leaving autin and running off. Then again. She never really thought about it until now she could have gotten him killed. But oops to late now. Her mistake did result in finding jenn. The group was back together and everything seemed to be moving smoothly. Their lives were till intact, despite the bullet grazed wound miyuki had on her arm.

Tammy began to debate rooms to search for the medical pills and supplies. She then referee to her memory of the map of the hospital. She ran to the body about 10 paces away and searched for it. Upon finding it she then saw the body start to move. He turned. Tammy stepped back as the once alive man clawed at her. She regained composure and stuffed the map in her only pocket. She then yielded a swipe with the machete into the ghouls skull. She swung hard and downward to ensure it was a one swipe kill. It cracked the skull effortlessly. She smiled impressed with the weapon as she drew it out.

Tammy walked back and opened up the map holding it out for the first hand to examine it. "This might help guys, it's how I found jenn. Of course the man was still alive when I grabbed it." Tammy tilted her head a bit at the last part.

@Crono @Jennifer Shotain @Lola Shimmer @KathleneWilliams2121

Jennifer hadn't realized that the others were right there. From her point of view, she couldn't see them. When she met the eyes of Miyuki and Tori, Tori came running up to her. She stopped and paused when she saw the blood covering her.

"Blood ain't mine," she said with a low voice. "And I'm fine."

Tori was happy that she was alive. Jennifer, however, felt no emotions at the moment. She felt cold, tired, and all around emotionless. She just looked at Tori when'd she squeezed her arm. She didn't say anything, just looked.

She turned her attention to Austin. His comment about being a "damsel in distress" angered her. But she let it go. No use in it. It was who he was; a grumpy jerk who cares. She didn't say anything back to him. Tammy then went on to talk about how she found a map that could show the stash. But then Jennifer remembered the man she left to bleed out down the hall a ways. He said he could show them.

"I've got an asshole down the hall bleeding out that could tell us where, if the map doesn't work. He could be dead by now. Who knows," she said back, almost satisfied with what she did to him.

Miyuki sees Jen and smiles slightly but it disappeared when she saw how emotionless she was and the blood that was on her. She looked like she has been though Hell and back. Miyuki then thinks back to when she saw Jen get taken away......she was there yet....she did nothing......"She's in pain because of you..... she went though Hell because of you...." The words haunt her mind as she swallows hard, trying to block it out. She couldn't think about that, or at least not now. She hears about Tammy's map and before she looks at it she hears Jennifer talking about a guy that she almost killed, sounding almost pleased and not herself, "Because of you...." She shakes her head, both mentally and physically as she takes the map from Tammy and looks at it, "it says the locations of all their supplies, it even has a password on here for the padlock." She folds it up, "we should go get supplies, we should also go help Holliday." She remembered that he was there alone and she wanted to make sure that he was alive.

@tammynorthland @Crono @Lola Shimmer @Jennifer Shotain

Tammy glanced around at the crew members she had grown to know these past two days, rather than saying anything she skimmed and kept guard holding the machete in one hand and the pistol in the free hand.

tammy began to think of an ambush, but the outside battle must have drawn most the attention away from her and the group inside the building. Tammy then refered to the map that miyuki made vocal notes to, rather than thinking about it or talking about it she said, "better get moving then, we are running out of time dicking around." tammy murmured loud enough for them to hear. she didnt hold grudges, except for miyuki currently after the swift kick her stomach recieved earlier that day. she massaged her ribs and glared at her from the corner of her eye. now isnt the time for grudges though. Tammy followed her gut and looked toward the stairs. "are the supplies on the second floor?" she said trying not to give away that she wasnt paying full attention.

"I can go ask my buddy down the hall where they are. Again, if he's not dead. He probably won't tell us, either way. I saw we find the pharmacy in the hospital. We need to find where they keep the drugs. I'm pretty sure they'll be there. Second floor is as good a floor as any to search. We need to get our asses moving and find this shit."

Jennifer didn't want to go ask her "buddy" down the hall. He would probably just curse her off and piss her off some more.

@tammynorthland @Crono @KathleneWilliams2121 @Lola Shimmer

"Um Jen......I don't think that will be needed. We have a map. Also, what about Holliday? He is by himself with who knows how many people on his ass." Miyuki is starting to get worried about Holliday but was also worried what Jennifer did to her 'buddy'. "Your fault... your fault..." She sighs as she looks at the others, "how about we come up with an idea of what we are going to do first before we act. So far the plan is going well and we don't need any mistakes." She felt that they needed to come up with a plan before acting. Pulling out her arrows and her bow she looks at the group to hear what they had to say.

@Crono @tammynorthland @Jennifer Shotain @Lola Shimmer

Tammy wasnt much of a leader. He eyes widened as miyuki asked for assistance, she assumed TOri or herself would be the best choices to refer to uring this time. But for once they werent providing much information that would benefit them. Tammy debated a plan but shes used to them getting shot down, acting on impulse was more her... lets just say 'style. ' Tammy realized the second floor wasnt really to far ahead, she noticed the sign pointing to where the stairs were. Tammy glanced down the hall the currently stood in alert as shes been for this mission. two options, retreat like austin mentioned, or since they came this far. grab the supplies they would much needed. Tammy thought of something until it hit her. "did you guys notice there hasnt been any further resistance? I think they are busy with Holliday outside, this would hoenstly be perfect time to move. as far as a plan goes i guess we could go search the rooms updstairs labelled where the supplies are as well as take a look into what else they may have, say weapons? or armor? or gas? these are just basics and since we are on foot we can only carry so much. after grabbing supplies if we encounter further resistance why dont we eliminate them and retreat back to the others back at camp?" tammy was referring to the younger gals that stayde back for protection." This is simply because we need to protect them as well assuming they are ok."

At this point tammy was starting to get anxious, her feet pattered back and forth on the ground ready to move but it was up to the others.

Tori took a deep breath and let it out, She was trying not to let the sudden change in Jen unsettle her. She figured the girl might still be in shock i mean none of them knew what the hell she had been put through in here. She sighed and rubbed at her head, The dried blood along her fingers cracked as she did so and it wasn't an entirely pleasant feeling that was for sure. Dropping her hand tot he side she scrutinized the group before her eyes simply settles on Miyuki whens he mentioned Holiday and a plan. She gave a firm nod "Damn right we need a plan. Plans are the only thing that kept us alive this long" she pointed out. Tori's head tilted to the side when Tammy started to talk and she found herself unconsciously nodding along, Again another good point they HAD made it this far and for the meantime it WAS quiet. They should take what they could carry and needed now while the chances were good. "Tammy is right, We need to go and get what we can. Whatever we can carry." she rubbed the back of her neck.

Tori leaned heavily against a wall in the hallway wheels turning in her head and thinking. "Ok..look here is what i got. Right now is the best chance we are ever gonna have to case this place and get what we need, Besides Jen said there is other people trapped here that might still be alive. I mean we should at least attempt to locate them on our way" she pointed out and fixed them all with a look "That being said, medication,food and any other necessities are our main objective." Her tone was firm and she was calming down rapidly now she had some sense of direction and control. "We should split again, I mean i know it's dangerous but it is a better chance, When everyone has lifted all they can carry we get out" She reached over and snagged the walkie off Miyuki that the girl had picked up and she pulled the one of her belt herself she had taken off the guy at the door when they first came in "We will use these, we don't even have to talk. Constant pressing of the button to cause static means the other group is in trouble right? And three presses means it is time to bail." she pushed off the wall and pushed hair out of her face "So who wants to go with who? or does anyone think it is a terrible plan??"

@Crono @Jennifer Shotain @KathleneWilliams2121 @tammynorthland

Austin listened to the girls talk, leaning back against the wall to rest a moment while keeping an eye and ear out. "Let's not forget we've got Tiff giving birth back at camp, we can't take forever with this." He still wanted to leave, but it was what it was and since nobody wanted to go through with suggesting full plan but rather little bits of a plan Austin decided to put one forwards and nodded at Tori, "Yeah, we should split again."

"By the sound of it there are some shooting from the roof. I can go deal with them to help keep some of the heat off Holliday." The man glanced Miyuki's way, "I'd rather you go as well because that bow of yours is quiet, and hopefully we can pick them off before they notice us while they have their attention on Holliday."

With a shrug he looked down the hall, "We need the meds for both Jenn and Tiff, so you three can grab as much as you can of whatever you find and high-tail it back to the cars." Nobody was exactly in perfect condition but he could see that Miyuki had an injured arm and he'd been worked over a little earlier, so that worried him slightly but it still made sense to him.

Chapter 1

A Shootist of Seventeen

The wind picked up and whistled through the streets. Trash got caught in the breeze and scraped along the asphalt. Leaves rustled and trees swayed. All this made the landscape seem deserted and rightfully so. Cars were scattered about, crashed and abandoned. Corpses lay as if thrown about. The apocalypse had really done a number on the place. Only four men could be found. Three were guards, manning their post in front of a hospital. They were members of a band of raiders who had made the building their encampment. The lot of which were murderers and degenerates.

The fourth man was barely old enough to be called so. However the recent moths had shaped with stone cold eyes and a callous expression. A man with a friend in danger, and willingness to overcame any obstacle. He was a man that had grown tired with the world, a man who had tossed emotion to the side only to find it again, a man that was prepared to do anything.

Holliday let out a deep breath. He gathered his thoughts and focused his mind. His aim was not to concentrate, but to clear his mind of thoughts as a whole. Once he was done he calmly twisted his neck to each side, allowing it to pop. He found himself in the mental state he wanted and set his eyes on only one thing, to achieve victory.

Holliday slung his rifle scabbard onto his back and fixed his hat. He drew is coat in tight so that it would conceal his pistols. Next he took a clean, white handkerchief and held it above head. With a faint smile, he rounded the corner of the building, and started walking up the middle of the street directly towards the entrance of the hospital.

The wind took a hold of the handkerchief, causing it to flap gently back and forth. Its purpose was to serve as an impromptu flag of peace. A guise of course, but the enemy had no way of knowing this. They’d be more focused on why their sniper hadn’t made any attempt to shoot him dead already. How were they to know that the man before them had silently eliminated their sharpshooter only a few hours earlier? They would be cautious, no doubt, but would probably allow Holliday the chance to get close enough to talk. While he didn’t act like it, he was still young, not even old enough to vote. He felt confident that they wouldn’t shoot him on sight. No, they’d probably try to capture him and torture the information out of him. If so, their intention would work in his favor.

While they had their weapons at the ready the moment they spotted him, Holliday noticed their stances change once he was about 15 yards from the nearest guard. It was probably close enough for them to converse with Holliday, and a distance where they could comfortably make their mark. This was as far as they were going to let him get.

“Halt!” The guard closest to the door yelled. Holliday immediately sized him up. He was an older guy; oldest of the three by far. The rifle he was carrying was unmistakably an AK-47. Because of that info and fact that he was at the best distance, Holliday assumed he was the one in charge. He was also the biggest threat. Holliday stopped in his tracks and dared not to move an inch.

“What brings you hear, boy? Do you have a death wish? Owen, grab his rifle. Hold it out by the sling strap boy, and keep that other hand up in the air with you cloth.”

Owen was the biggest guy there. He was armed with a pump shotgun and a bat. Thinking that the gun would be to cumbersome, the man slung it on his back in favor for the bat which he felt he assured he could use with one hand. This would be a mistake.

Holliday did as he was told and held his rifle out so the approaching guard could intercept it. The whole time however he faced the man in charge. That fact that he had called him a boy meant he underestimated him. It worked beautifully into Holliday’s plan. “I am here to negotiate peace, hence the flag. You captured a member of my group. We wish to reach a compromise, after which you’ll never see us again.”

The man in charge started laughing. “That aint gonna happen boy. The boss decided that we’d settle for nothing but all of your men dead and your women enslaved. Your little group killed some of our men. Owen! Beat him bloody and senseless, but keep him alive. We couldn’t get anything out of the girl but maybe we’ll get him to talk. Roy, if he tries to resist, cap him.”

Owen raised his bat, and Roy his gun. Holliday didn’t feel any fear or scream for mercy. He smirked and spoke only five words. “That’s a lie you know.”

This got the men’s attention. They faltered in their actions and hesitated for a moment. The old man turned towards him. “What was that boy!”

“I called you a liar! My group was not responsible for your men’s murders. In fact your men killed one of ours.”

“Don’t pull that shit with me! I saw our men, my son’s corpse. Your group is responsible!”

“No they are not,” Holliday said with a sadistic smile, “Only one man is responsible for the deaths of all your men. And that man is me.”

It was at that moment that Holliday dropped the hankerchief and reached for his six-gun. His hand brushed back the coat concealing it and firmly latched around the grip. His draw was lightning fast and comprised of only two movements, one that brought the gun upward out of the holster at an angle, and one that pushed it ward. During the forward movement he cocked the hammer back with his thumb. As his arm became fully extended his eyes were sighted in on Owens chest and he pulled the trigger. The man had no chance and staggered a few feet backward clutching his bosom. It was at this point that the handkerchief finally touched the ground.

Holliday didn’t stop there. Within tenths of a second he had already made his second shot, and it was directed at the older man. He let out a yelp and instinctively pulled the trigger on the rifle sending several bullets out overhead.

The next shot went to Roy, who fumbled with the safety on his pistol. He seemed the youngest and least experienced of the three. Holliday had taken a moment longer placing his shot. The bullet ripped into the kid’s right lung, maybe even into the heart. He wouldn’t last long at all.

The final two shots in the pistol went towards clean up work. Holliday shot the old man a second time from a distance to make sure he would stay down. He casually strode by Owen who had taken his rifle. The man staggered to get up and made an attempt to throw a punch. Holliday blocked it and grabbed the man’s shirt collar. He pulled Owen close and put the barrel of his gun dead center in his chest. The gunshot was muffled and the bullet severed the man’s spine causing him to fall limp.

Holliday bent down to pick up his rifle scabbard and slung it across his back once more. Then he casually walked up the stairs passed the old bastard. He lay huffing on the ground, uselessly reaching for his rifle. Holliday kicked the AK-47 aside and looked the dying man in the eyes. It was at that moment he witnessed a man lose hope, lose the will to fight.

“You… killed… my… son” The old man managed to say in between his hyperventilation.

“Hmmmm….” Holliday grunted as he looked away from the man and started to unload his six-gun. He thumbed out each piece of empty brass and then put them all in his coat pocket. Then he reloaded it fully and re-holstered. “Your son helped to kill a friend of mine who was also a brand new mother. They way I see it you both got what you deserve.”

“Then what… is the… difference… between... us. Why… do you… deserve… better?”

Holliday shrugged. “I don’t. They only difference between us is that I’m better with a gun. I aim to see my friends safe. If I die here I’m fine with that.”

The old man looked up at him with a deep hatred. “I’ll… see you… in hell.”

Holliday just walked away. “Aren’t we all already there?”

Chapter 2

The Pieces Get Set

As Holliday entered the massive building, he’d already pulled his rifle from his scabbard. He racked it and then shouldered it. From here on out there was no planning. It would be just one clusterfuck and he’d have to be ready for anything thrown at him.

He looked around at the hospital’s lobby. There was dim lighting coming from the roof, no doubt the result of a back up generator. The floors had been hastily cleaned, though piles of dust and papers could be seen here and there. Towards the back of the room was the main check in desk. It was large and would provide cover if an individual chose to use it as such. To each side of the desk lay two hallways that presumably led to the check up and operating rooms.

Above him he could see a large balcony on the second floor. This would be bad news for him, especially because there was no direct staircase leading up to it. It would be a perch for snipers, which he’d be completely unable to reach. Lastly, he noticed the waiting room directly to his. It would be the only decent cover he’d get, but once there he’d be pinned.

It didn’t take long for the enemies to engage him. He heard them first. Their feet stomped as they cam barreling down the left side hallway to attack. The first man was to gung-ho for his own good. He’d rushed around the corner like a fool. Since Holliday had heard them coming his sights had already been aligned and trained on the man the moment he came into view. Within a second his body had been filled with three bullets.

The second man was a bit brighter but not by much. He’d stopped in his tracks when he saw his partner fall, but his leg was partially exposed. Holliday took a quick shot and managed to skim the guy’s leg. He let out a yelp of pain. Holliday kept his rifle aimed in the same spot, waiting for him to rear his head. That’s when he heard another shot come above from the balcony.

A deep burning pain erupted from Holliday’s thigh. He turned and rapid fired four rounds at the assailant. His target ducked and took a few steps back to get out of Holliday’s line of fire. Two of the round hit the white, wood railing sending splinters flying. He was sure that another hit the wall behind him. This left one round unaccounted for.

Now the man in the hallway made his move. He let out several rounds with a semi-automatic shotgun. Holliday didn’t want any of it. He un-shouldered his rifle and carried it in a military port-arms fashion. Then he made a dead sprint to the waiting room, furniture exploding all around him. He hit the ground and slid in behind cover. He moved further in, as dry wall wouldn’t stop a bullet.

It took a few moments but the gunfire stopped. Once Holliday figured that it was safe enough he started slipping more rounds into the loading gate of his Winchester. The enemy would no doubt be taking this chance to reload as well. After which he took a good look at his injury. He lucked out and found it was a flesh wound. An inch or two the right and it would have shattered his femur, in which case he’d bleed out in minutes. He took a knife and tore off a piece of his shirt and stuffed it inside the bullet hole itself. The he took a longer strip and used it to bandage the wound. It was all he could do to hold it temporarily.

“Bill, can you hear me? Bill!” he heard someone yell. It sounded like it had come from the balcony.

“Yeah, yeah I hear you man.”

“Are you all right? How is Leroy?”

“Leroy’s dead. He killed him man, and shot me in the leg as well.”

“I can see Ben and his guard through the window. He killed them too.”

“Don’t forget the sniper!” Holliday chimed in. He was hoping to make them angry. Holliday was in a bad spot. One of his two enemies would have to make a mistake in order for him to succeed, and he’d have to capitalize on it in an instant. If he could enrage them, or scare them there was a better chance that they would slip up.

“Shut the hell up, you bastard!” one man screamed. The corner of the doorway to the room erupted in a hailstorm of bullets. Dust and chunks of drywall splattered in the air. Holliday tilted his head down hoping that doing so combined with the shades he was still wearing would keep the shit from getting in his eyes. It stung as the shrapnel hit him, but after 5 or 6 shots it stopped.

Holliday chuckled a little. “You missed!” he called aloud.

“Damn you!” the man in the hallway, Bill, had called out.

“Stop running your mouth!” The man on the balcony called down. “You aint in a place where you can act all high and mighty. We got you stuck. You’re like a trapped animal waiting to be shot. We got more men coming to flush you out as we speak!”

“Trapped! You got it all wrong my friend! Bring more men, the more the merrier! I’m just the distraction after all!”

“Shit!” He heard the man on the balcony say. “Redman, come in, Redman.” He assumed the man was trying to talk into a radio. “Arnold, what about you? Arnold. Everybody there are….” The man never got to finish his sentence.

Holliday had taken them moment as his chance to strike. He let out a quick barrage of bullets and dumped five rounds into the man. If his pistol skills could be called great, then his rifle skills were amazing. The man lurched, and slumped over what was left of the railing.

Holliday quickly swung the barrel of his rifle over to Bill who was still in the hallway. His angel was bad and only a sliver of his target’s body was exposed. Holliday not wasting any time fired a few rounds to keep the man suppressed. He slunk back behind the wall only sticking the barrel of his gun out in a futile attempt to blind fire. Holliday could see even from distance that he wasn’t at risk of getting hit. So he put the bead of his front sight right where he thought the man’s back would be had the wall not covered it. His hope was that the bullet would travel through the drywall just as it had in the waiting room. He fired twice and the man screamed in pain.

Bill was hurt bad and thrown into a panic. He tried to make a mad dash for the desk as it was mad e of solid wood and would hold up better against Holliday’s fire. His attempt was in vain as Holliday led his target and pulled the tigger when the shot was most opportune. Bill crashed to the ground and rolled several times.

When the motion stopped, Holliday instantly knew he was dead. He walked over to the corpse and examined it. As he neared he heard the crackle of a radio. Holliday spotted it clipped to Bill’s side and reached down to pick it up. Over the com sounded an old voice but commanding voice.

“Bill…. Luke…. Has the intruder been dealt with?”

Holliday held down the button on the side and responded. “Their dead.”

“Whom am I talking to?”

“The man that killed them, along with every single one of you sons of bitches that threatened my friends.”

“I see. What is your name.”

“Holliday.”

“That’s it? Well I suppose you can call me the Colonel.”

“ The Colonel? What are you, the one in charge? If that’s the case I’m coming for you next.”

“You’re sure good at running your mouth.”

“Credat Judaeus Apella, non ego.”

“Eventus Stultorum Magister.”

Holliday chuckled in surprise. “In Pace Requiescat.”

He then flipped the radio off and let it fall to the ground. A challenge had been made. If he killed the enemy leader, their moral would fall and victory would be his. He quickly reloaded his rifle and began looking for the stairs, while still staying vigilant for any motion or sound indicating attack.

Miyuki nods over at Tori as she says that they should split up. She agreed that that's the best way to get everything done, fast. Then again, she felt nervous leaving them alone. She didn't want something to happen to them, but at least that they have each other so in theory, they should be safe. Miyuki looks over at Austin, who states that the both of them should go help Holliday. She liked the idea, not only that they get to help Holliday, who could be in a world of trouble due to his lack of planning and his mouth, but she didn't feel right to be with Jen after what happened. She wanted to forget what happened. Miyuki rubs her arm, as it was sore and it still hurt to move her bow around. Hopefully, she would be able to take care of it back at camp....if she lived that long that is.

Tammy nodded at the rest of the group, "lets get moving again then guys." she said. Tammy then begin to move down the halls, with the weapons on her it felt to weigh her down but not by much, at least for her. she probably only had 20 pounds of gear attached full load on her person. tammy begun to move down the halls in a way that seemed like she was not scared, she held out all forms of negative fear inside of her. The stairs were at the end of the hallway with no signs of resistance yet. Tammy reached the stairs moving up them as if she knew they could very well be her last steps.

As tammy neared the top she refrained from being to nonchalent about it, taking the halls cautiously. tammy felt the tension sweep the air, the air so thick it could be sliced with a knife. She continued through the halls moving. scoping open rooms, and open areas for enemies. it could always be an ambush so she stayed on high alert. Pistol was drawn and the machete lied softly in her fingertips tainted with grime and blood. Tammy moved toward a room. The door slightly opened. She took a slow glance inside, scanning for any hostile. With a quick move she threw the door open. nothing, no igns of life. She made her way in and saw trash littering the area. along with cabinets. the room appeared to be a storage area, possibly for medical supplies, maybe just maybe medicine.. "Jenn do you think this would be a good spot to check quickly?" she asked Jenn.

Jennifer could feel the looks she was getting, knowing that people were looking at her funny. She changed. They didn't see the same Jennifer anymore. She didn't care. She honestly could care less what they thought. Right now, she had to get her meds, and get out. However, one objective was also to find the girls they held captive.

Tammy started to walk towards the stairs to the second floor. Jennifer followed behind her, her rifle up and looking around. The fight wasn't over yet, and she knew it. They weren't out of the woods yet, so she had to remain vigilant in case of a sudden firefight erupting.

Tammy came upon a room with many cabinets. Following behind her was Jennifer when she entered the room. It seems to be some sort of storage place. To this thought, Tammy asked Jennifer if they should attempt to search the place in case of medical supplies.

"I don't think this is where they keep it. Hospitals normally have some sort of pharmacy where they store all of their drugs. This doesn't look one to me, but the search is worth it," she replied, looking around the room.

Placing the sling of the rifle over her shoulder, she walked up to a cabinet and began to open them quickly. First drawer she opened had various surgical tools. The next drawer had standard first aid supplies. the following drawers she opened had nothing.

"Nothing here," she said closing the last drawer. "We need to get moving, this room doesn't have shit in here, unless you need basic medical supplies. Might as well grab them while we're here."
