Ann sat, perched on the edge of Jean's bed, a book in her hand. She was reciting lines from it aloud, mocking the tone in which Professor X read from the history books during class. It was all the same, boring monotone, droning on about how they must "learn to control their powers" and "never let anyone know they were mutants."
Jean giggled as she watched her friend imitate their uptight Professor. But after a while, reading from Shakespeare became quite dull, and Ann set the book down on Jean's dresser. For a moment, she looked lost in thought, and Jean, not wanting to be instrusive and read her mind but wanting to know what her friend was thinking about, asked Ann what was on her mind.
Ann blushed, startled. "Um. I was just, uh, thinking about where Scott might be." She muttered the last part. Everyone at Xavier's knew the young mutant who could control nature had a huge crush on Scott Summers; everyone but him, that is.
