The Pens:

The psionic flame roiled against Apocalypse's form, scorching his armor and singeing his skin. He reacted quickly, recomposing the matter that he was made of into something more resistant to the flames. "Your friends are dead, Evan. That alone broke you. You're weak, and without self-control. But I can make you a god on this Earth, if you swear your allegiance to me. The filthy masses of humanity would bow before you, and I ask only your service in return. You have nothing left to go back to, and only a bright future ahead of you if you take it." Apocalypse explained, maintaining an expression of complete calm despite his growing discomfort. "You could kill me here. But I always come back, Evan. So is my nature. I will return to this very place, and I will show you Darren's death a thousand times over, every day, for the rest of eternity, and I will keep you alive to insure you watch."

Evan sighed, then released the ancient one. "You are right. This body has more control over me than ever. It seems my Mistress was smart about the creation of this one." The Phoenix mused, altering its appearance gradually. Evan's hair became longer, sliding past his shoulders. His body became more ridgid and muscular, and facial hair donned his jawline. "I will take this land as yours...but I will not bow to you." The Force replied as his eyes morphed into a gleaming white.

One of the horsemen, Conquest, approached them. As he entered the cell, Evan's hand flew out to him. The remining lifeforce whirled from his body to Evan's in a fluid motion. The nails fell from his body, all cuts and wounds healing instantaneously.

"That's better." The Phoenix sighed, turning back to Apocalyspe as the husk fell to the ground. "Where do we begin?"

"Dammit..."

He'd left Aaron and Stan behind to look for the survivors of the wreckage, but it looked like the remainder of them had gotten moving. probably smart, since the world around them was completely unpredictable right now. Getting a lead within all the school's rubble was nearly impossible, and the stench of death kept wafting up from the aftermath, but he eventually caught on to something. Granted, it was basically a trail of her blood, but he'd rather the girl be injured than dead.

Darren had picked up Nico's scent a while back, and found the other's as he followed it, but there were too few of them for his liking. Way too few. From what he could pick up, they had gone to the hospital, and it came into view as he ran on all fours; he was faster that way. As he reached the doors, he stood up, brushed himself off, and walked inside, immediately wanting to cover his ears, nose and mouth as his senses were breached by irritating hospital sounds and sickness. He whipped his head from side to side, before spotting the small group of mutants in the waiting area, injured and exhausted. He sighed in relief as he approached them, but that relief quickly faded as he saw how many there were, and the state of them.

"Alright, I'm here...I think I may be able to help with those," he said, gesturing to the various injuries. Hopefully his powers woouldn't be too drained to handle the healing, he wasn't sure what had happened to them after the earlier incident with his friend's growing powers.

Mentally, he took a head count of everyone he knew for sure that was still alive - and painfully that small list did not include Evan. Nevertheless, he feigned calm for the students, inspecting Dylan's leg while he talked. "Is this everyone?"

Washington, D.C.

He walked among them, hearing them all. Liars, cheats. Secret murders and harlots. They were all unclean. He heard every single on of them.

A twisted smile unfurled on his face as the first one fell, bleeding from the eyes. It started, and the fire caught hold, not letting one go free.

"This is the purging of the smear on this planet. The humans will bow before us, or be burned!" He called out, raising one hand in his path. Buildings crumbled, with people falling from the windows. Screams and the stench of blood were heavy on the air.

He'd burn the world and give birth to it again. This was the way, the will of Apocalyspe.

Nicolette looked up at the strange person. She recognized him from around the mansion, but never spoke to him. She didn't trust him, and that wasn't changing anytime soon. She scoffed at him before shaking her head. She rolled her eyes as she spoke, "I'd rather take my chances with the people that make a living healing people. People that know what their doing. You know, an actual doctor." Nicolette's arm was hurting, and she was worried too much about Dylan's legs to deal with him right now.

Ryan looked around, "I think we are missing Kyra, Aaron, and the guy Nicolette was talking too earlier". The doctor came out and observed the group, "Ah may I ask... what exactly happened?" Ryan shifted his gaze to the doctor. What are we going to say? Oh the usual...the mansion got destroyed because stuff happened and some people died. Our friend here turned into a horse. Yeah that sounds believable IN A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE!

Nicolette smiled politely, "Motocross accident with each other. We decided we wanted to race and I ran into a barricade and bounced off which caused her to crash into me." She shrugged with her good shoulder. "Just teenage stuff," she spoke, laughing a bit.

The doctor shrugged, "Eh good enough explanation. Let's get your legs patched up first since they seem more damaged than her arm". A wheel chair rolled up toward them and the doctor assisted Dylan onto it. "I'll be with you in just a moment" He said looking at Nicolette and pushing the wheel chair into a room.

Ryan nodded then leaned back.

Nicolette watched Dylan disappear before sighing softly. She leaned forward and put her head in her hand, her hair covering her face. She ran her fingers through it, surprised at how soft it was, and sat up straight, attempting to put it up. She flinched as pain shot through her arm and carefully pulled the tie off her wrist and held it out to Ryan. "Can you put my hair up for me? I would myself but can't because of my arm," she asked him, hearing how calm she sounded compared to the panic within her.

"Sure" Ryan responded then took the tie from her. He grew up with two adopted sisters and a half-brother. Since Ryan's father and mother were often away, Ryan had to get used to tying his sisters' hair especially the younger three year old's due to the fact that the older one near his age frequently left the house because of her public sports league schedule.

Nicolette smiled and turned, facing away from him. She kept ahold of her arm, knowing if she moved it much more, it'll need surgery, if not already. She had always pretty much kept her hair down unless she was working out, which was rare unless it was training, or unless it was annoying her, like now.

Ryan gathered her hair and tied it up, "There you go". He looked at his surroundings and noticed a pile of magazines. Ryan picked one up then flipped through the pages, "Kardashians, Obamas, Will, Kate, babies,...same stuff". The doctor looked at Dylan then helped her onto the bed thing.

Nicolette turned back around and brought her feet up onto the chair, wrapping her arm around het legs. She rested her chin on her knees, and not long after, she heard her stomach growl. She hadn't eaten a decent meal in days. Only an apple in almost three. She ignored it, not feeling good enough to eat.

Ryan felt an awkward silence and bit his lip. He put the magazine down then looked at Nicolette, "So...What's your favorite animal to turn into?" I could have asked a better question. Like can you just turn into animals? Can you be other stuff? Can you turn into a book? Eh no that would be weird. Who would want to be a book? That means someone needs to open you and read you. Dang I have a lot of thoughts.

"Either a wolf, tiger, or raven. But I couldn't choose one out of those," Nicolette said looking back at him. "Even though I mainly turn into animals, I can turn into just about anything. Any human, animal...even some inanimate objects such as a book or an instrument. I just don't do that as much because it takes too much energy to change back and, if I turn into a book, it'll just have all my deepest and most personal thoughts and secrets written in it," she explained without taking her eyes off him.

Ryan raised an eyebrow, "Can you read minds too?" I think I have to stop having these thoughts in my head. Ryan was slightly surprised that Nicolette answered his thoughts. Eh I don't care anymore...I guess I have to get used to people reading my thoughts. The doctor began to take x-rays of Dylan's legs.

"No I can't, but it's normally the next question I get asked," Nicolette spoke with a slight laugh. "And that's followed by my least favorite animal to turn into which is a snake. Sure they've got venom, but other than that and their silence, they're helpless," she added before hearing her stomach growl again.

"You want to get something quick to eat? The doctor might finish up with Dylan soon and your stomach is speaking to you" Ryan said as he looked through the windows for a place to eat. "Or we can just go to a vending machine?" He added once he saw a machine at the corner of his eye.

Nicolette glanced over at the vending machine, seeing nothing she wanted. "Well, I haven't eaten an actual meal in about a week and I've survived three days off of an apple. I could go for something to eat, but the vending machine is just stuffed with stuff that's good for you. I need fast food. Other than that it doesn't matter to me," she stated, looking at him. She needed food, so her arm could wait for now.

Ryan thought for a moment then replied, "So...to the food place across the street then? We can also get something for Dylan while we are there. Oh and for the others too when we meet them". He felt kind of hungry at the moment especially since he did not have anything to eat since that morning.

"Yea if you're paying. I keep twenty bucks on me at all times but the rest of my cash got destroyed," she paused for a second and dropped her jaw slightly. She came to the realization that her guitar had need demolished. Her grandmother had given it to her before she died. "On second thought..." She got up as tears threatened to spill over, and she made her way outside. She went around a corner of the building, sat down against the wall, and started crying softly.

Aaron crawled across the rubble like a wounded animal, which was a fairly close comparison. His hands grazed smoothly over the ground the broken concrete in front of him as he clumsily waltzed through the ruined mansion. Just a bit further man, you can do it. It's gotta be around here somewh--

Aaron's hand made contact with a cut wire, and his body reformed the circuit. Electricity coursed violently through him, throwing him into a volt-induced seizure. His hand, no longer under his control, clenched with a death grip around the wire, prolonging the electrical surge. His jaw locked and his mouth was frozen in a silent scream, his cloudy eyes twitching in every direction. The hair was scorched off his arm and left behind horrible burn scar tissue.

Almost three minutes later, the power source was drained. Aaron was left unconscious, alone, and producing a faint trail of smoke for almost three hours before he finally woke up. Even then, he couldn't make his muscles move or think clearly.

Ryan got confused then rubbed the back of his neck. He stood up and walked to one of the nurses, "We're going to be back in a few minutes". Ryan went outside to search around for the shapeshifter, "Nicollete!" He lookes left and right then finally decided to just go around the place. After he turned a corner, Ryan saw Nicollete crying and approached her. He sat down next to her then awkwardly patted her back. The mutant was not familiar with situations like this one.

Nicolette stayed silent as she tried to calm down. She heard Ryan yell her name, and soon enough, his hand on her back, but she couldn't stop no matter how hard she tried. What the hell? I never cry in front of someone, so why can't I stop? The question roamed her mind as she rested her chin on her knees.

Breaking news, a young man is walking the streets of--

BOOM

The missile was easy enough to deflect, hitting an electronic store that was already set ablaze. The pigs were fighting bad--or trying, at least. "Trash." The Phoenix whispered as he crushed the tank before him, flipping it out of his way. The forces ran away from him, but they were smited from the force of his power alone. Their body compitstions erupted into the things that make stars. The Phoenix reached his destination, standing before the monument that represented the dedication of their forefathers.
