Fandom X-Men: Legacy

There were certainly perks to being a telepath. One of them was being able to convince people of just about anything, if you had a skewed moral compass. Aaron never liked to influence people like this, but he was running out of choices. He had found a private cabin with an air strip nearby, and the owner happened to be around. Minutes later, he was sitting in the backseat of a two-seater jet plane.

Destination Egypt. It's been awhile since you got a vacation, Aaron. Not that you're going to be very comfortable, or relaxed.

The Phoenix stood atop the smoldering wreckage, laughing out to the dying crowd. The first deed had been done, for attacking this place would prove how serious he was about ending all places like it.

He picked up the leader of their nation, lifting him above the heads of who was left. He linked his mind with all others on the planet, making the announcement global.

"My people, this is the way of a new path," he began, "I have slept for so long, with dreams of you ruining what I gave you. What is life second to? Money. Materials." He spat the last word, pure disgust on his face. "You have forgotten what matters. I now know that I must cleanse this plane. So this is my warning to you. Mutants! Rise up against your bonds and worship the Lord Apocalyspe. For he shall usher us into a new age." He bellowed.

"And humans, step down from the roles you have taken. It is destroying the world, and therefore is not needed. All those who defy this decree will be burned by the Eternal Flame!"

The Force then stretched his hand toward the President, causing his skin to charr and become ash. "This is the will of Apocalyspe, and the way of THE PHOENIX!" It yelled, dropping the corspe to the ground.

Dylan looked up at Ryan and Nicolette. "I think I can at least crutch everywhere," she wondered if she could actually do that and decided that her powers would help a little. I did float from one place to another, right? "No one happens to conveniently know someone whou can heal wounds instantaneously, right?" She chuckled a little at how awesomely convenient that would be in a time like this.

"Well I did offer to give it a go earlier, but someone wanted the expertise if a real doctor," Darren pointed out, looking back at them.

"Are you willing to let me now?" He asked, glancing from Nico to Dylan questioningly, hands already sparking as he channeled his powers.

"Yea but I still don't trust you," Nicolette stated simply. It would take a lot more and that wasn't changing. "I wanted to see how bad it was," she said unconvincingly.

"Yeah, sorry about that," Dylan said, remembering how she was rushed away from the guy who offered to help. "I guess I was just a little shocked still. And I didn't exactly know who you were, or what your powers were. If I had known, I probably would have allowed you to do that right away. Go ahead and work your magic."

Magic. Ha, I wish, Darren thought to himself before took hold of Dylan's legs gently. "Might feel a little weird at first...like using a tens unit," he warned, describing the electric feeling. He then slowly let his energy weave it's way into her legs, gradually healing her and grimacing as most of her pain went through him before dissipating. Darren let go, and stepped back, surveying his work. "Better?"

Dylan stared in wonder as Darren grabbed her leg and described the feeling. As her legs were mending, the feeling was very strange and sent small shivers up her spine. He seemed to be in pain as the process continued and Dylan hoped he was okay. When he let go and asked, "Better?", Dylan quickly stretched her legs to test them. Feeling no pain in them, she quickly stood up and smiled. Then, she turned and, in the light of the moment, hugged Darren. Quickly, she realized what she was doing and pulled away, blushing. "Umm, thank you very much."

"No problem hun," he said, blinking from the surprise hug. He opened his mouth to say something else when he felt something intruding his mind again - the dark presence he'd felt earlier - and he listened as it delivered it's message. He looked at the others, wide eyed, as he realized they could hear it too.

The Phoenix...and Apocalypse...The destruction continued, and the entity was practically declaring war on them all. If they didn't join him that is.

In the backseat of a hi-jacked plane, Aaron sat calmly while the world rushed by him. He had no way of gauging the speed he was traveling at, but the motion itself implied a rather decent pace. He hoped there was enough fuel to get him to Egypt, or at least cross the Atlantic.

Then he felt it, the telepathic cry of the Phoenix resonated in his head. I'm gonna have to kill him. There's.. no other way, is there?

Aaron frowned and extended his consciousness as far out as he could, searching for the still somewhat unfamiliar mind of Darren. Within a few minutes, he had found it and projected himself into it. Two questions, Darren. How's everyone, and did you hear the Phoenix too?

Darren sighed with relief after hearing from Aaron, shaking his head up and down though the guy couldn't see him.

Unfortunately, yes, Darren answered with a feeling of pure dread.

I'm with Ryan Dylan, and Nico. We're fine, at least OK enough to get moving. I called in a favor from SHIELD, got access to a Quinjet. Where are you and Stan? He asked, hoping they were alright as well. Too many people were either dead or missing in the aftermath.

Stan is.. missing. Last I knew he was at the mansion, but he fell off the grid. Too busy to find him, honestly. I'm.. Somewhere over the Atlantic, trying to piece together Cerebro so I can keep tabs on the entire world. I'm headed for Egypt. Don't bother coming after me, I need you to keep everyone alive. Aaron paused, frowning as he thought of what had to come next. And.. Darren. You know we'll probably have to kill him, right? He added, figuring Darren could infer who he was referring to.

Darren visibly flinched at Aaron's last words, and he cringed inwardly at the idea - not that it hadn't occurred to him already. He'd always aimed to protect Evan...he didn't know if he could take killing the man, didn't know if he could take seeing him dead a second time.

That...remains to be seen. There's got to be some way to save him...

Darren sighed. Look, I'll find Stan, and as for Evan -

He stopped, getting that same feeling again. Nico was definitely right that something was wrong, and he had a clear idea of what it was.

He's coming. I have to go. Good luck,

Darren finished before stopping in his tracks. "Guys...we need to go. Now."

They could look for Stan when they were airborne, but the longer they stayed on the ground, and the closer Phoenix got to their location - s*** was about to hit the fan one way or another. "Evan is getting closer, we don't have much time. Natasha, get us to the jet."

Nicolette put a hand on Darren's shoulder and held him back briefly. "My arm. I'd be a lot more useful if you heal it," she said softly and quickly. She carefully took it out of the sling and held it out to him.

Slightly miffed by the contact, he eyed her for a moment before nodding.

"Alright," he agreed before taking Nico's arm and healing her too, the drain a little less severe than the first. As he did so, the view to the left of them seemed to ripple, getting more and more noticeable until the jet was revealed.

Natasha lowered the stairs, and climbed aboard, followed by Darren. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up more and more at he followed her, and his little premonition grew. He headed for the copilot seat, strapping himself in quickly.

Ryan climbed the stairs then took a seat. He looked around observing the thing they were in. It was his first time flying in something other than a commercial air craft.

Nicolette twisted her arm in certain ways and got the feeling back in it. She made her way to the jet and climbed the steps and looked around. Woah she thought as she took a seat.

"Yeah, we're good," Darren said to Natasha after rattling off the checklist. "Let's get this baby in the air, eh widow?"

Natasha rolled her eyes, but nodded as the jet slowly rose off of the ground, before shooting across the ground and over the ruins. The sky had grown much darker by the time they had boarded the jet, and it was a bit harder to make out the shapes down below.

"Guys, keep you're eyes peeled for any movement," he instructed, peering through the window.

Darren was really glad he didn't have a chance to change out of his uniform after the training session earlier, and he shifted in his seat when one of the sword hilts rubbed his neck annoyingly. He decided to give it ten more minutes during the search for Stan - they'd flown over the wreckage twice already and seen nothing.

The Phoenix heard the straining of a young telepath on a small plane heading across the ocean. He brushed off the weak power signature, but noted the mentioning of his former persona to a mutant with a power signature that would be deadly ifused against him. It folded the space and time around it's host, willing itself into the jet carrier that was littered with faces he knew of.

"You spoke of me and so I came. Darren, Nicolette, Kyra," It drawled, "And everyone else. You have defied the odds and survived the will of Apocalyspe. I ask of you now...Join me. Together, we shall bring forth a new era of existence."

He projected a image of peace and tranquility. Every mutant in harmony, without the rule of humans. "Perfection." It said, a twisted grin on his face.

"Like hell we will," Darren growled, fangs bared as he ripped off his belt to spring out of his chair and face the other man. That projection was all a lie. A gigantic lie. He did, waver for a moment when he saw his former friends face, albeit older and...crueler. But that doubt lasted only a moment.

This - this was in no way Evan at all, he'd realized, and his wolf's hackles raised at the intruding force in the cockpit. Dareens eyes flashed silver in warning, as he felt like his territory had been breached.

The others might not have trusted him, but he would defend them. He was sick and tired of watching everyone around him die. He'd automatically moved in front of the other mutants, directly in front of Phoenix.

"You honestly expect us to let you destroy the entire world because Apocalypse has some demented superiority complex? You have a warped sense of perfection if you think genocide is the answer to your problems. Didn't we do this already in WW2?" He said, cracking his neck menacingly as his hands began to glow blue.

The Phoenix strode toward Darren, the air tingling around him as he stauntered to the man. "Darren...I was told of your death. I'm glad it was false." The thing wearing Evan's face closed the distance, placing a kiss on the man's lips. The energy burst in the air, sparks and flame existing as one.

"Come." It said, letting the bright glow fade from its eyes. "Be mine. Stay with me, Darry." It clasped to his skin, a pleading look placed in Evan's green eyes.

Darren blinked in astonishment at the kiss, the feeling still burning on his lips as he looked back at what seemed to be Evan. He raised his right hand, metal claws reflecting the lights as he did so. Maybe...

But the thought disappeared as soon as it came. As soon as his hand touched the man's neck, he knew he'd been played. There was almost nothing recognizeable, almost no trace of his friend's mind at all.

Instead of caressing the spot like he'd initially wanted to do, he dug his claws into the other's neck, letting his eyes slip to silver as he let as much electricity as he could muster surge into Phoenix. "You. Are not. Evan!"

Helena walked in the direction of the school for mutants. She didn't trust anybody, but she knew these people could help her. Sh walked to the front gates and was horrified at what she saw. The school was in rubble she walked over and saw dead bodies lying underneath some of the rubble an she almost threw up. "What happened?" Helena asked to herself.
