Fandom X-Men: Legacy

The doctor finished up with Dylan and rolled her out on a wheelchair, "Where are the others?" The nurse replied, "They'll be back in a few minutes doctor". Ryan stopped patting Nicolette's back, "Um..." Quick what do friends do in movies?

Ryan asked, "What's wrong?"

"My guitar," Nicolette replied then wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. "Umm... My grandmother gave it to me when I was nine for my birthday. She died of lung cancer when I was twelve. It was the only thing I had left of her that actually meant something to me, and now it's destroyed," she said, hoping she wasn't making Eyan uncomfortable.

"I know that guitar is very important to you, but it's just a material thing. What matters is that you have memories in your mind and heart of things you did together, and how she made you feel..." Ryan said. He knew what he said was cliché, but it was true.

"Material thing? That's all it is to you. It was my life," Nicolette said, a bit harsher than she had intended to. She crossed her good arm over her stomach and looked away, trying hard not to start crying again.

Ryan stood up then moved both of his hands through his hair, "Sorry". He didn't really know what else to say since there was no way of bringing that guitar back. Ryan said, "I-I'm going to check on Dylan". He started to walk back into the hospital.

He right. I can't just wallow in my sorrows Nicolette thought as she sat there on the sidewalk. After a few minutes of thinking and calming down, she got up and brushed her pants off. Briefly, she looked around before making her way inside the hospital. She went back to her seat, once again not feeling hungry anymore, and sat there in silence as she watched Dylan.

The doctor looked at Nicollete, "Your turn. Please follow me". He made his way into a room. Ryan sat back then looked at Dylan, "Feel better?" He looked at the clock then started to wonder where the others were.

Nicolette got up and cautiously followed the doctor. She never trusted them nor liked anything having to do with doctors or hospitals. Too many sicknesses to get.

Dylan quietly sat as the doctor brought her into the exam room and sat her on the table. Finally, he'd taken the x-rays and she was all bandaged up, ready to leave the white room. The doctor rolled her out and sat her next to the group.

"Feel better?" Ryan asked when she got out.

"Yeah, I guess," Dylan said. "The doctor gave me some pain medications and said to take it easy." She looked at her bandaged legs. "Not like I can do much anyway. How's Nicolette? She looked upset."

Ryan looked at Darren, "Sorry there was a little...situation. I'm pretty sure Kyra isn't here. Aaron and that older guy are still at the place where the mansion was". He then turned to Dylan, "She's fine just give her time". Ryan shifted his gaze back to Darren, "So what do you suggest we do? And where will we go?"

Darren sighed, running a clawed hand through his hair as he mulled over the question. "Not here. If Apocalypse does come back...best to be as far from the wreckage as possible. In fact..." Darren pulled out his phone, dialing a number.

"Natasha, it's me -"

Darren was cut off by the waterfall of Russian curses following his previous statement. He argued with the voice on the other line, becoming more and more frustrated before he lost his temper.

"People are DEAD Nat. You are the only hope we have left right now, and I will do anything to make sure they get out alive. This is not the damn time to argue about past relationships," he growled into the phone. He calmed down as he heard the silence on the other side of the call. "Please."

He hung up, grimacing. "Well..." He said, looking at Ryan, then at Dylan. "Welcome to SHIELD - at least for the time being... I have a contact that's on her way with a jet as we speak."

The doctor quickly fixed Nicolette up and sent her back with the others.

Ryan raised an eyebrow, "What's SHIELD?...Apocalypse? What are you- I'm sorry Darren, but can you please clarify?"

Dylan widened her eyes in surprise at Darren. "SHIELD, you said? I've heard of that," she thought for a second, then snapped her fingers. "Oh yeah, they're the group who got the Avengers together, right? Or at least the Avengers were part of? A contact with a jet, on her way. Won't that attract a lot of unwanted attention?"

Darren nodded in appreciation at Dylan before he went on.

"Yep, that's SHIELD. About the jet - Im pretty sure staying alive trumps attracting attention- and usually it's cloaked so you can't see it at all. Plus, we aren't going to have a chance against this guy if we stay put here..." He trailed off, seeing confused faces.

"Apacolypse, at least from what I've heard, is the first mutant. Ever. And his powers are so strong, that he's basically made himself immortal. And now that he's got The Phoenix Force on his side, we are going to need all the help we can get to defeat him and get Evan back."

Darren had felt the change in his friend's energy force while he was in the waiting room - the feeling was extremely derailing and seemed to pulse with darkness.

Nicolette walked back out with her arm in a sling. "In other words, it's gonna take a hell of a lot more than a school full of mutants to beat him. But that doesn't mean it's not impossible," she said as she leaned against the wall. "From what I've heard, the SHIELD is our best option, and probably our only one. The other being die," she added glancing from Darren to Dylan.

Dylan nodded. "I agree with Nicolette. If we don't join up with shield we'd never stand a chance against Apocalypse, let alone him and The Phoenix. I mean, Apocalypse ripped our whole f***ing mansion and killed most of our members. There's nothing we can do against them alone." She looked around the whole group and sighed. "I guess I'm in, even if no one else is."

Nicolette stood up straight, suddenly becoming uneasy. "Something's not right. I've got a bad feeling," she admitted, looking around frantically. "I think we should head back, like now," she added as she looked back at the small group. Something is bad wrong she thought to herself.

Darren nodded, feeling it too, but just then a red haired woman in a form fitting black suit pushed open the doors and headed straight for Darren. He turned towards her, opening his mouth to say something, but was cut off when she slapped him across the face. Twice. He rubbed his face as she looked past him, addressing the group rather than him.

"My name is Natasha Romanoff, but some of you may know me as the Black Widow. I am, apparently, your way out of this mess," she explained with a hand on her hip. "Transportation is waiting outside - I suggest you stay behind me since you can't see it - I'll explain the rest on the way," the agent finished, not even bothering to offer them as smile as she turned, expecting them to follow.

Darren sighed, feeling a bit exhausted, before shrugging at the other mutants. "We've got a bit of history. But She's here to help now, and we need to get busy...do me a favor and trust her, ok?"

I turned to her and shook my head, "Not without going back to the ruins first. I have a bad feeling. I just don't know why. And no disrespect but I'm not taking no for an answer." As soon as I got the words out of my mouth, I walked up to her. "Plain and simple. Just long enough to assess exactly what I'm feeling. No longer than five minutes. If any longer, you can leave me behind. And another thing. Could you just try not to be such a...b**** please. Just a suggestion. I've heard great things about you. I look up to you actually, and the only way we'll survive is if we all get along," I added staring her in the eyes.

Aaron groaned and rolled over onto his side, still shivering violently. He coughed, once, twice, and then a third final time before emptying his stomach onto the ground next to him. The smell of vomit and blood hit him like a truck and he recoiled disgustedly, putting a few more feet between himself and the red-green puddle.

F***** found it. Has to be it, or else I might as well give up. Aaron lay still, forcing his breathing to slow before even trying to move anymore. His left leg was still tingling with numbness, a fact that left him more than concerned about the health of his entire nervous system. Despite the pain, he finally pushed through it and cautiously slid his hands along the rubble, searching for anything that suggested he was near Cerebro. Metal. Round, few gaps. About.. the size of a head. Hollow in the middle. This has to be it. One part, at least. For the first time that day, he smiled.

He set the battered helmet piece atop his head for safekeeping, then dug through the rubble for other important parts. He found a few he could identify, but not nearly enough to reconstruct the whole machine. He'd need time and resources to construct the entire machine, but he had no other choice. He gently placed each of the recovered pieces in a bag and slung it over his shoulder before trudging off in a random direction. He had no sense of the land around him, and didn't know which way to start looking. But I'll find something, somewhere. If you walk one way long enough, you'll find what you're looking for.

Ryan decided to just go with the flow. He did not really know what was going on, nor did he have anything better to do anyway. As he followed Natasha Romanoff also known as Black Widow, Ryan thought about the slaps she gave Darren. Great first impression...eh not like it matters. He continued to walk with his thoughts going through his mind. Just strut into a hospital then SLAP SLAP everyone follow me because my cool superhero name is the name of a deadly spider...and has an adjective before a noun. Ha well I'm pretty sure she's cool in some ways.

"We have to find Stan anyway, and Aaron if he decides he wants to be found," Darren added looking at Natasha pointedly.

She glared at him, before turning back to Nicolette and sighing. "I suppose we must then...and I apologize for the b****ness. Its not you guys- it's him. And I've got a damn good reason for it too," She added, before shaking her head. "Whatever. lets go shall we?"

As they walked, Darren noticed the slight slump in Natasha's shoulders, but before he could ask what was wrong - besides him - she shoved her phone at him and crossed her arms.

"Wha-"

"Just look."

Darren nodded, looking down at the screen then nearly dropping the thing out of shock and horror. Washington DC...his home...and the nation's capital had been destroyed by the Phoenix. Completely leveled, and wiped off the map for good. He looked up, glancing at her. "So I take it we wont be going to the Triskelion..." She shook her head at his comment.

"No. No one there is still alive. Safest place to go is the Hub," she added, her voice faltering a bit. Darren looked at the ground, distraught. So not only had Evan gone dark, but he was already off totaling entire states. it was mind numbing, and the thing was, even if they somehow did turn him back, they still had Apocalypse to deal with...to Darren, situation looked pretty hopeless. But he wouldn't let the others see that, if just for the sake of protecting them.

Aaron needed a place to hide. Somewhere isolated and alone, where he would not be seen if one of Apocalypse's minions went hunting for him. He needed time, which was a commodity there was very little of readily available. Where better to hide than halfway around the world? Question is.. getting there.

He trudged across the open landscape with a slight limp, still trying to recover full control of his leg. At this point, he was fairly certain there was irreparable nerve damage, but at least he could still walk. You're a f****** idiot, Aaron. God d*** moron, you are. You're blind, don't know where you're going, and somehow you plan to rebuild one of the world's most advanced pieces of technology? Oh, and how are you going to fulfill the basics, food, shelter, et cetera? You're an idiot, and you're going to be f****** dead by tomorrow. Some hero you're turning out to be.

The doubts lingered in the back of his head like anchors. He hadn't heard any signs of civilization for quite some time, which meant he was headed deeper into the back country of NY. No sense in turning around now. Maybe I'll find a private airstrip or something. I did always want to fly a plane as a kid.

Oh so Stan is his name. Ryan stayed quiet and waited for a clear explanation of the current events whenever someone was ready to explain them to him. He looked at the two injured...new friends he had just made, "Dylan can you walk, or do we need to keep a wheelchair with us?" The mutant heard Black Widow's apology and smiled a little. See! She IS cool in someways! She apologizes and stuff.

Nicolette heard the question directed to Dylan. She smiled politely at Natasha before turning around and looking at her new friend with concerned eyes. She's gonna practically be useless in combat until she gets better, so she needs to stay safe, she thought silently.
