Fantasy Ww: Iuncta Iuvant

Kana looked around her table and saw another had joined. Everyone seemes excited and you could tell who was new and who wasn't. The boy she was talking to was named Ron and he had introduced her to a few others. Afterwards he had moved down a few seats to a more bulkier guy with little hair. Seeing him bald made her chuckle as she picked up a peace of meat to eat. Out of curiosity her eyes wandered around the room to find what she thought was the symbol of evil. Corbin was it, the one with the rooster. Her wondering eyes were interrupted by a girl with pig tails and pail skin. She had questioned her about why she was so tan and how she had that long of hair.

"oh well I was born in a village in South Africa. There the skin tone is quite common. My long hair..well its in the genes I suppose."

Tim would slump over to the table of Raven's, a few chairs discreetly moving away from the pariah. The right decision. Yeah. Right. Like he ever made those. He had enough problems on his plate, when it all boiled down to it. For the most part he just scootched his food around his plate, barely eating, just making a mess on the plate, thinking about what he could do with the freaking feather.

Besides the obvious stuffing his pillow.

All in all, sucky first day.

Probably the most stressful part of Pandora's day was having to step in front of the headmaster. When they prompted her up, all eyes were on her and she had to force herself forward, feeling the gentle push of the crowds behind her. Her small shaky hands took the sides of the bowl and she tried to stay focused on the color rather than the headmaster who had implored her to grab the bowl much like he did with the others.

After staring at it for a few minutes, she couldn't handle the pressure and closed her eyes tightly. The sound of a bell made her eyes snap open as the headmaster assigned her to the Raven house. Pandora stared shell shocked momentarily, and eventually had to be led back to her table by a couple of upperclassman.

She sat staring at the table until food appeared in front of her, absent mindedly ignoring the questions that may have flown her way. She snapped up, finally realizing that she had food in front of her and they wanted her to eat. The pink haired girl now took a chance to look around, the three people she yelled at earlier all ended up in the same house.

Pandora counted her luck that she was in a different house, looking at her seatmates they all seemed fairly nice. There were some trying to make small chatter with the new freshmen, and as she started eating she noticed the last boy to go in the sorting process was playing with his food.

"What's the matter?" she asks, reaching over to steal some baby carrots off his plate- "Don't like the foooood?" she extended the o playfully before pushing the asparagus on her plate off to one side. "Or are you trying to make a mountain!?" she suddenly realized then that they had potatoes, and making a mountain of them was probably the best idea.

Tim would keep moving the food around as the fork of Pandora snuck into his plate's sovereign airspace, attacking the baby carrots before retreating. He looked up at the girl who had tried to diffuse the situation earlier, and flashed her a faint smile.

"Just not much of an appetite. And be careful of potato mountains. Last time they were involved the world got crazy."

A nod and a movie reference.

"Also, looks like the few people I met all ended up as Doves, and we got the house with the victim of a chicken attack and troublemaker."

It was enough for him to worry about good decisions on top of that.

After the feast had ended, Shawnee watched the older kids start leaving. The one that she had been talking to patted her shoulder. Giving a soft smile, she followed up until they got outside. With a shrug and a few words, she lingered outside the hall, watching the way they went so she could follow after to find the dorms. She glanced back in through kids leaving, trying to spot Tim or the other boy whom she hadn't seen since arriving.

Something had seemed off with him, and she wanted to make sure what could possibly be her only friend her was okay.

Pandora pauses after sculpting a particularly steep cliff in her half-formed potato mush to observe the boy across the table. Her nose scrunches up momentarily at the movie reference "Don't even worry about it!" she nods curtly, twisting her arm just so, making the other side. The boy seemed to continue his train of thought, explaining his loss of appetite was due to his house selection.

"Just 'cause you're in a different house doesn't mean you won't ever see them!"
she raises her brow at him, before crushing her mountain again. "Besides, with chicken-butt in our house- everyone will be too busy looking at them to look at us... if you know what I mean?" as she talks, Pandora leans forward on her elbow. Although she hadn't exactly meant the trouble maker, the girl was a little relieved to hear they had one.

With everyone focused on chicken-butt, it would mean Pandora might get away with not showing her magic until it was ready. Looking at her plate she noticed that further down the table, the upper-class men had started clearing and she took the prompt. Of course, not before she stole the remainder of Tim's carrots off his plate and skipped away, as if he would get mad in that instant.

"Oh! and you have me!" now that Pandora is up and bouncing around, she sticks out her gloved hand towards him, "I'm Pandora! Like the box!" The introduction is followed through with a wink, and a rambling suggestion "Did you want to find your friends now? I can help you find them...or if you want to go alone..."

"And now, an optimist, just what I need."

Tim would give her the faintest of smiles, letting her steal the carrots, it wasn't like he was going to eat them. And the trip had started out so well. He would look around and if he was offended, she would be missing fingers.

"Call me Tim. Nice to meet you, 'Dora."

He would stand up, looking at her and shrugging. Couldn't hurt to have her follow for a bit, he supposed, and worst case, if he got lost, he had slept under the stars before. Besides, she seemed weird and he liked weird. Ironic, two caped crusaders. He was rapidly encroaching a comic book.

"Lets see if we can find Shawnee or Emery."

He would walk towards the exit, his hands twitching a little. He was honestly already disillusioned. Of course, for most of the students, they could get a transfer or the like, go home. Tim wasn't like that. He was already planning a breakout. Find someplace in the mountains, maybe. Build himself a cabin. Tent. Cave. Go native, as it were. Might even be able to rustle himself up a steak or two over time. Childish fantasy, he knew on some level, but hell, it would also mean he'd made the choice of not making any choices.

"Great, I'm already second guessing myself. See if you can spot someone else in a cloak, would you?"

As almost all the kids had left, Shawnee had almost given up. Had she missed him coming out? She looked towards where a few of the stragglers were heading, biting her lip while her hands fiddled with the strings of her hood. She glanced back into the hall as her shoulders sagged. She must have missed him, there was no one left in there, or well, anyone familiar in there. With a soft sorry to the air, she turned and started down the path the other students had taken.

"How 'bout someone...not in a cloak?" Pandora, or as she was affectionately called- Dora, ventured.

The group around them were muddled together, but she kept spotting cloaks, hoods, and capes on many of them. Tim had called her an optimist, but she was having trouble looking over the crowd and would jump every so often to try and peak over the people's heads. Due to her short stature, the girl kept hopping up and flailing around, no luck at all to finding a specific cloaked person.

"What did you say their names were?" Although Pandora asked, the question was rhetorical.

"Shawneee!" she called while skipping along the mull of people, even skipping around Tim to look at the people behind them. "C'mon, let's go look around the dorms" she continues flailing around, calling for the girl.

Crazies. Always the crazies. It was like he was catnip for them. Maybe escaping wasn't so bad of an idea after all.

Tim would stand there as people left, and 'Dora skipped around him, and he covered his face with one hand. He had a knife, and was fairly sure there wouldn't be a jury in the world that would blame him. But then, that was unfair, she was trying to help.

"Don't worry about it, 'Dora. I'll find them tomorrow."

Of course, then she asked about the dorms and he stopped for a moment. He had absolutely no idea where the dorms were. Of course he didn't mind so much.

"Umm, 'Dora, lets just find out where we're meant to sleep. It can wait."

He wasn't have a breakdown, nopenope.

Corbin had finally gotten all the luggage where it was meant to go. His porters had disappeared back into the woods without attacking any of the students. He would get to the Great Hall as people were leaving, walking in silently. His head cocked to the side as if listening to something and an eyebrow raised.

He moved to Felix, folding his arms as the man helped clean up, looking at him.

"Ported well. Talk later?"

It was half a command, half a query. Corbin took his duties seriously. If Felix needed to talk, he'd listen, he was good at that.

Felix paused, before slowly setting the cup he had been picking up on the pile of dishes he had in his other hand. He nodded his head, moving about and gathering silverware.

"If you would be inclined to join me for a cup of sherry, I shouldn't say no to the company."

------------------------

Shawnee, in the back of the crowd that had been headed for the dorms, had heard someone up head yell her name. She blinked, raising her head but she hadn't known who it was that had done it. Besides, it had been a female voice, she didn't know any, outside of the one that had joined them in the line earlier. But it very easily could have been two friends catching up, Shawnee wasn't that much of an odd name. Shaking her head, she folded her arms under her cloak and just followed behind as they closed upon the dorms.

At the walkway up to what would be the freshman dorm, a statue of a knight stood. Or at least, it looked like a statue, until it would move on occasion and direct freshman towards it, noting that on the right wings of the building it was the Raven's and on the left was the doves, names would be on doors.

It seemed people were leaving, heading to their dorms for the night. Nikolas wasn't sure where his dorm was, he didn't even know anyone else here yet. He pulled his hood forward again as it slipped back slightly. Right now, this hood was his comfort zone. He got to his feet and followed after a few students that were heading out from the hall. This place was going to take a lot of getting used to, as well as being around so many strangers, and away from home. Sure, he was excited about going here... but it didn't stop him missing his home, and his family.

He found himself standing in front of some kind of statue, it looked like a suit of armour, which he realised was magical when the thing moved and was... was it directing students? He took a step forward and watched as it extended an arm and pointed to the right, so, right he went, passing the dorms and looking for his name. He found it a few doors down and went inside, closing it behind him.

Corbin would shrug. Classes hadn't started yet, and nothing wrong with a good sherry. He would move and start to stack plates, making towers of somehow balanced plates that reached his eyes. He had the reach and strength to at least carry them into the kitchen, trying to help out. His brain never stopped whirring. He had his classes planned out, bar unforeseen circumstances. He still needed to find out who was in his ones though.

And then what the loa told him about the events in the hall.

It was going to be a long year.

Tim was trying to calm her down, Pandora made a 'pbbbt' noise as he assured her they would find the two in the morning. "Okeee, whatever you say~" she notes, puffing up her cheeks as she walked next to him, "Don't worry, I'm sure if we follow the crowd we can find where we belong" she assured, nodding along.

The two of them came up to a walkway with a knight stature at the front, it seemed to nod to a certain doorway. It nodded to the right now, and Pandora looked at Tim, shrugging before going to the right- noticing names above the doorway. "Look- names...this must be sort of right?" she ventured, much more interested in finding her own name above a door.

"Sort of right. Right."

Tim was very carefully not smiling now. It wouldn't be in good form to laugh at her when she did try to help. Not really. And then there were nameplates? Oh hells no. He was hoping and preying his real name wasn't on them.

His eyes darted from door to door as he moved with 'Dora.

"Well, I'm not on the first floor. So I guess that means in case of fire, jump out a window, right?"

It was spoken so solemnly, so straight faced as he walked up the stairs, looking for his room. His room would have his things in it. He idly wondered how on earth they got it up the stairs then he remembered. Magic.

Shawnee found herself on the third floor. Raising an eyebrow, she stared at the name plate with a vague sense of annoyance as it displayed proudly Shawnee Stien. With a frustrated grumble, she tried pulling it off to no avail. Greaaaat, her freak of a last name exposed for all too see. At least from the top floor of this wing. A kid that appeared to have the room next to her popped his head out of the door, probably to see who was making all the noise.

"You Stien?" And so it begins.

"Yes."

"You a zombie or something?"

With a sigh, she just pushed open her own door and shut it behind her. Turning to look at it, she found it had a key for it, and the door did indeed have a lock. Two, as it seemed since the key fit the door. At least one thing was good there. Turning, she looked at the room, her bag on her bed, and Hector sitting on his own plant stand, looking raher offended...was that a bit of meat?

Upon finding that the first floor did not have her name, Pandora made a frustrated noise- sounding something like a roar before bounding up to the second floor. To be kind, she waited for Tim on the next floor before trapezing down the hallway, quite literally. Pandora took three steps forward before launching herself into a cartwheel, but not using her hands. The little girl landed on her feet and then she looked at the door next to her.

"Tim! I found it!" eagerly she pointed at the name plate 'Pandora Sparks' before wiggling slightly on the spot. "Now! Only because I'm so excited for you, I'm going to help you!" Pandora nods confidently, whipping out her wand from behind her. "Are you ready for this!?" she asks, once again rhetorically, but super ecstatic for the fact she's using magic. She focused on Tim's door- where ever it may be in the building before taking a step back and swishing her wand just so.

"Location!" she calls, hoping that naming the spell will help her,

Instead, her wand zaps again, producing nothing but smoke from its tip. Pandora's frown deepens further and she stares at her wand. "Why-" the girl cuts herself off with another growl, her eyes wet with anger before stomping off. "C'mon Tim!" she calls, marching off to find this door without her useless magic

Tim was lucky for 'Dora's help. He got a big faceful of smoke which made him choke and cough with the scent of that horrible fake tasting cherry cough mix. he would wrinkle his nose a couple of times.

"You probably just said location too quickly."

Tim moved, following her, his eyes looking at each name as they went past, shaking his head, still not seeing it.

"Well, we've now limited the options to the top floor. You can go get settled if you want. I think this just may be a case of it not being my night tonight. No point in wasting both our time."

Tim provided an answer to her anger, letting her know that it was due to the fact she casted the spell too quickly. Pandora was still angry at herself though, and when he suggested that she settle in, she shook her head angrily. "No, I'm helping you find your bedroom" she notes, continuing up the last flight of stairs before looking around the floor. Still no nameplate of Tim's existed on this floor, although it was hard to focus on this floor for some reason.

"You're not here!" she groaned, huffing a sigh before looking at Tim "I must've made it disappear or something...you can have my room instead" she offered with a frown "Not like I belong here..." she finished.

"We'll get it sorted out in the morning. You go get settled in and sleep. It's been a big day, and I can sleep under the stars no problems. And then tomorrow, I'll go right up to the headmaster, and headbutt him until he tells me where my room is, alright?"

Tim had a very serious look on his face as he spoke, as if he solemnly mean every single word. His face then broke into a grin.

"Besides, I can't sleep in your room, it's probably all in pink and frilly or something silly like that, and we can't have that, can we? It'd drive me absolutely guano."

He laughed at that, poking her gently in the belly, turning and moving down the stairs.

Merideth had missed much of what had transpired between the others, for as soon as he was informed with the others to go to their dorms and let out of the main hall, he had been desperately searching for somewhere to pee, luckily he did manage to find a toilet and finally made it to his dorm house, opening the door he walked in, stretching "so much better!" he groaned, walking up the stairs towards his new bedroom.

Eventually he found the door with his name on it, opening it he walked in, collapsing on it he began to nap and lazily remove his clothes, followed by him crawling into his new bed and closing his eyes.

(sorry for not posting in awhile, work has been kicking my ass, and I kinda lost track of what's happening a bit but I saw our characters are in their dorms now so... yeah)

As early morning came around, the light peak of sunrise found Shawnee wrapped up in her cloak, a shoulder bag smacking against her legs, and a scribbled note of directions in her hand. Despite the helpful nature of the charmed knight who was outside the dorms still, though he seemed to have moved locations, she was at a loss.

Her very first class here, and she was going to be late. Why did the classes for the darker side of magic have to be so early in the morning when she wasn't fully awake to pay attention? With a grumble, she kept looping on the paths away from the dorm.

Corbin was looking at an empty classroom. His face, painted once more to resemble a grinning skull. Purple velvet suit, tophat, his rooster sitting on a skull on his workbench. He didn't bother with a desk, he preferred to stand and walk as he lectured, and needed the space for ritualistic purposes.

The classroom itself was lit by flickering candles and wall sconces, with Corbin's natural aversion to fluorescent lights. He enjoyed the ritual. Besides, it was a sanctuary of sorts. This class would be the only one early in the morning, most of the rest starting just before curfew.

He looked in the corner, where two handfuls of shovels were in a group. He was picky about his students, and well, he did have a reputation to keep. He would let out a long slow sigh, looking back to the open door. If students missed this class, he was not getting up early after today, and would let the class know the next meeting time.

As it was, he was giving them ten more minutes to find him before he declared them all failing.

I'm late! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late! I'm... lost...

Nikolas fumbled for the folded map he'd shoved into his pocket before he'd left his room and traced his finger along the hallways. Was he here? Or over here? His brow knitted in worry as he looked around for some kind of landmark that was on the map. Oh. Hey. His classroom was just up there...

He looked around awkwardly, hoping no one had seen him and he hurried forward, pushing the door open and taking a seat in the middle of the rows. The teacher's back was turned for now, purple clad with a top hat, which made Nikolas feel somewhat underdressed. Then again, teacher's had income so they could afford expensive clothing. It looked rather nice, the jacket, at least from the back and he found himself studying it for... whatever reason.

Merideth woke from his deep sleep to the light coming through his window and onto his face. getting up slowly he stumbled into his bathroom, having himself a quick shower, coming back out, getting dried off and dressed. Today he was wearing jeans, converse sneakers and a black T-shirt. Once this was all done he glanced at the clock "oh.... shit!" he yelled, grabbing his map, whatever books and the such he could, putting them in his backpack and running out the door. He ran down the stairs and jumped out the front door "shit shit shit shit!" he kept repeating. It wasn't until a full 10 minutes of running that he realized... he had no idea where he was going!

He grabbed his map from his backpack, hoping his timetable was on it, it was!... the dark arts... huh.

He ran towards the building, wearing himself out with his sprinting. He came into the building and ran down the hallways, hoping he would come to the classroom soon. Without thinking he burst into the classroom... with only seconds to spare! "*pant* *Pant* Sorry... m-mister Corbin I *pant* slept in" he panted, making his way to an empty desk at the middle-left of the classroom (from Corbin's perspective) he sat down and pulled out a book and pen, ready to start the lesson.
