Fantasy Ww: Iuncta Iuvant

Looking at the two of them, Shawnee pulled Hector a bit closer to her chest. As it seems, the one who had fallen into her was named Tim. The sound of a voice brought her head forward. The bird attacking a student kept her eyes forward. She swallowed hard, before glancing back at the other two.

"Is that suppose' ta happen?"

Okay, calm down, you nutcase. Emery took another deep breath, this time through pursed lips and schooled his expression to a frown instead of the giddiness fidgeting through his entire being. If only there was a way to dim some of the colors flashing all around. Focusing helped, so focus, Emery. “I hope you haven’t forgotten,” Emery answered his friend plainly. “That would be very inconvenient.”

He held onto his introduction for a moment to watch with just about everyone else as the avian assault played out and left a girl crumpled on the floor. “Yikes,” he muttered and glanced at the girl with whom he’d caused a collision. “I hope not. I’m Emery, by the way. Your plant is pretty.” What were they called? He knew this one, honest, it just wasn’t coming to him. Not knowing things about your friends was a poor way to show you cared!

Corbin would just keep his grin on his face, letting the older students pass, some with the faintest nod of his head, those who had been in Post Mortem Communication the years before. If someone was stupid enough to not expect a consequence to ill thought out actions, it was their own fault. Causality happened. Besides, it wasn't like he let the bird blind anyone. Yet. This year. It was all a show.

"I don't know if it's supposed to happen. It did, though."

Tim would take a deep breath, shaking faintly. He had grown up with a few animals around the commune. He had seen how dangerous they could be at times, and that one seemed to exude menace.

"You know, it's still better than private schools."

He actually slapped his face a little to get his bearings back.

"Emery, you must be a new face if I don't remember you from before."

He would grin at the other boy, actually liking him a little. He was ballsy. He would reach out to the plant, tentatively.

"Please tell me it's name is Audrey two."

"You've been to a private school?" She looked at Tim, a bit surprised. She'd never met someone that had, and she doubted that her home state even had private schools. As the other introduced himself, Shawnee nodded, before smiling a little at the compliment. With blink, she realized she should probably introduce herself, "I'm Shawnee, as a note. Pleased to meet both of you."

However, at Tim's motion to touch her plant, she stepped back, "Actually, his name is Hector, and he's not really a fan of being touched..." The plant's mouth like area's grin seemed to grow as it opened slightly.

Felix watched the older students place their things inside and entered the hall, leaving them with only the freshmen group outside.

"Children, I ask that you please, place your luggage against the wall here, and form a straight line so we can get started before it gets dark."

Okay, remember, they don’t really know what you can do. Did he even know what he could do? Ah, well, that’s what he was here to find out. Concern showed on Emery’s face at his friend’s remark and he bounced on the balls of his feet when Tim slapped himself, but nodded along with what he had to say. Too antsy. Way too antsy. Should not have slept on the train, he would have met them so much sooner if he had just woken up. How much fun that would have been!

“Absolute pleasure to meet you, Shawnee,” Emery told her with unaffected glee, bringing his hands together enthusiastically. “Did he just—” he eyed the plant but there was no tell-tale glow around it like people had. Hmmm. The man in the red suit was instructing them a second time and Emery winced a little, feeling disobedient. “Come on, let’s hurry, there’s so much still to do!” He made grabbing gestures, but miscalculated and failed to grasp either of his two friends by the wrist as he skipped towards the wall indicated for their bags. All he had was a rucksack that was practically part of his back, but no one here would do his meager possessions any harm, right?

"Slow." All Corbin said beneath his breath, for himself and Felix to hear.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tim would take a deep breath, wrapping his hands around the rope at his waist, hogging on the spot for a couple of seconds before the momentum of his trunk would begin to catch up. Too fast, still, it began to trundle after him on it's wheels, and the look of shock on his face as he almost ran up the wall to stop getting squashed by it, ending up laying atop it.
Of course that didn't stop him as he untied the rope around his waist and wrapping it carefully on top of the Trunk, patting it gently.
New people. New place. New dangers. He needed to get back in shape, get used to his body again. Growth spurts. Hated it.
He would look at Emery and Shawnee, not looking the slightest bit ashamed or embarrassed, just grinning. He was that cool. At least in his head.
No touching the plant, he would walk back over to the other freshmen.
With a soft laugh at Emery's rather joyful actions, she followed after him and Tim. Glancing down at Hector she tsked, "Behave you, they're not food." With a shake of her head, she looked up just in time to see Tim almost hit the wall. With a soft smile of humour, she rolled her eyes, setting down Hector and her backpack about three feet down from the rest of the kids things. Insurance he wouldn't try to sneak a bite of anyone's knickers.
Giving the plant a homemade biscuit from her pocket to keep it's mouth occupied, she returned to the rest of the group, taking place in t line that was forming.
Eleanor looked around her and noticed that there was absolutely nobody on the train. Her eyes widened, as she realized that Tim had left too. She thought he was just going to the bathroom or something, but it turns out he got off the train just like any other sensible person! She repeatedly hit her forehead with her palm, rushing off the train with her light luggage in tow. Eleanor wished she wasn't such a spacecase, it'd really help her out in the future.
She scanned the large crowd of students for Tim and found him, "H-Hey, Tim, it's me, I'm here!" she shouted, flailing her hands trying to get his attention.
Tim’s antics broke Emery out of his own head so far he burst out laughing, then covered his mouth to smother his amusement. “That was funny,” he declared between his fingers. “You’re okay though, yeah?” He could tell just by looking, don’t be stupid. It was cool.
Hearing Shawnee, Emery’s eyes got wide. “Hector’s a cannibal?” his voice squeaked a little at the end. Her watched her feed the plant and words seemed like a sudden challenge. He fell into step behind her to join the line, glancing back at the munching Hector one more time, then grinned at Tim and recovered his voice. “Come on, Tim!"
They were going to be sorted now. Emery had never been sorted before. Should he be nervous? He’d decide later. First he had to walk by that…rooster…
Tim would grin faintly as he joined the line, beckoning Elanor to join them.
"Technically I don't think he's a cannibal. He just knows ways to cook man."
His shield of pure ego intact, even after the incident with the luggage, twice now, spoke volumes. Make new friends, meet new people, all will be alright. He looked wistfully back to the trees, already the urge to get out into his old ways were high. He wanted to change and go for a hunt.
"So. Segregation already. I hope we're not on opposite sides., since generally that sort of thing leads to competitions, and I hate sports."
"Well, he doesn't eat other flytraps, so I don't think cannibal is quite right. " She said a bit sheepishly. So far so good, Stien, you might even have friends before lessons even start. As Tim waved over someone else, she lifted herself up on her toes to try and see who it was. Shawnee, spotting the girl with a hand in the air, figured it was her. She's cute, she thought to herself.
"Sports can be fun, though. Particularly against friends. "
Eleanor pushed through the large crowd. This was all very strange. Being sorted into houses, magic, new people. Things Eleanor had experienced a lot of (besides the magic part.) Eleanor finally met up with Tim in the center of the crowd. She observed the other two with him. One was a nice looking girl with long brown hair, and the other a boy that looked about her age with brown, curly hair.
"Hey, Tim, who are these people?" Eleanor asked, looking at them curiously, scanning them from head to toe.
Okay, be nice, don't say anything. "You're a bit dim," Emery remarked and then scrunched his face and hopped from foot to foot. "I'm sorry, I don't mean that, not like that I mean, that's not what I meant." Slapping worked for Tim but Emery knew it was no good for him. Focus, just focus you big dummy!
"I'll just be over here," he said glumly, pulling in his shoulders and shoving his hands in his pockets. His wand! Emery forgot that was in there. Wrapping a hand around it didn't make him feel much better. He was being so stupid, he needed to get his head on straight. Should not have slept on the train.
And of course, Shawnee was right. People ate people, plants eating people was just carnivorous, not cannibalistic. Duh.
"Eleanor, this is Shawnee of the Green Thumbs, and an old friend of mine, going way back, Emery. Apparently."
It was all Tim could do to keep from breaking into giggles. He couldn't help himself, and it was taking concentrated effort. He would point at where their stuff was placed for delivery.
"Luggage over there. Line up."
He wasn't going to be that guy, it was just a form of euphoria and nervousness unwinding from the attack of the student and bird, the whole situation, the new faces, the new people. He was looking forward to this, and he was happy. He started bouncing on his feet, his head turning back to look at the forest. He was itching to get into there, to run, to frolic. This was going to kick ass.
"I dunno, sports are alright. I'm just not a fan of the tight shorts. They seem to cut off air to the jock's brains."
"Howdy, " Shawnee said cheerfully, a smile accompanying it. Truth was, she was trying not to laugh at the green thumb joke. If only they knew, Stien. Chances were, they'd find out decently soon, but for the time being, she kept her mouth shut on what it was she could do with a bit of concentration. Wait...
"Boys where tight shorts for gym? What kind of schools have you gone to, Sugar Cube? " She looked over at Emery, "And no hun, you're fine, darling."
Just be quiet and stay where you are. Emery made little gestures to Tim’s introductions, having already blown all civility with the poor girl. He didn’t know anything about sports anyway, what could he say? No, listen, damn it, brooding is not what he came here for, he needed to Get It Together. Stamping his feet again a couple times, he smiled shyly at Shawnee’s kindness, swinging his head back and forth a little. “What kind of schools have you gone to?” Emery echoed her question, really curious. He barely remembered the last time he’d been in a classroom. Receiving that letter had been a final life line. Which is why Emery was Not Screwing This Up.
Eleanor nodded, taking in all of Tim's information. She wondered what the Green Thumbs were, and figured she's ask later.
She frowned when the boy named Emery called her dim. It was an insult that she was used to, though, and agreed with. She was surprised someone figured out this trait of hers so quickly, though.
Eleanor shook her head, "Uh, it's okay, I get that a lot." Eleanor laughed nervously
Tim then pointed towards a wall with luggage all lined up along it. Crap, you we're supposed to put your luggage in a specific place?
Eleanor sighed and hefted her luggage over to the wall, making sure it was safe before she left.
Hen she returned, the discussion was the schools Tim had gone to. Wanting to put her own little slice into the conversation, Eleanor piped up, "I've been to over thirteen schools!" She smiled proudly.
"I'd rather not talk about last year. Lets just say, that having my eyes clawed out would be a step up. It involved ruler wielding nuns, and more priests than any self respecting boy would like."
Tim actually shuddered, his hands moving as he began to start on the jittery fidgeting he did when his hands were empty and he needed to work on some project or another.
He would look along the line.
"Hey, you think we can move this along?"
He was itching to get everything sorted out, so he could work on his projects.
Corbin would just raise an eyebrow, taking a long, deep breath. It was going to be one of those years.
Dropping his knapsack at the authority figure's direction, Rick glanced about along the line. Those these were the other freshmen, his classmates, his comrades-in-learning? He spotted a girl with a plant. Huh, that's a weird-lookin' plant, He thought as he passed by the girl and the people she was talking to. It seemed like a lively conversation.
Maybe he'd introduce himself later? He began to think of a way to break the ice, just as he tripped, while just passing them to go to the other end of the line, as they'd been instructed. He had just enough time to think to himself as he was falling,
This seems just a little clic-
"Eehhhouch!" The boy yelped as he smacked his face off the ground, blood spurting from his nose.
Felix just shook his head, sharing a quiet word with Corbin before he ducked inside to share a few brief words with the upper class men.
-------
Shawnee listened to them talk with a bit of excitement. Thirteen schools? Nuns that wielded ruler sticks? If she was honest with herself, it was at that mark she pictured nuns falling in line with teenage mutant ninja turtles, fighting off evil-doers bent on creating sins. But she wasn't, and focused her thoughts away from ninja nuns to the idea of someone going to multiple, non public schools. As she opened her mouth to ask, a boy passing by them face planted into the ground, followed by her eyes locking onto the sight of blood.
She swallowed hard, or tried to. Her voice caught in her throat as she looked at him, or more specifically, the stain he was leaving on the ground that came from his nose. Hands tightened into balls, gripping the fabric of her jacket in a death grip. Shawnee's face seemed to drain of colour, eyes going wider.
Sighing and picking himself up to a kneeling position, Rick swore under his breath. A little more blood leaking out his nose made it's way down to his mouth, the metallic taste making his cringe a a little. He was a farmer's kid, so he'd been hurt a few times, and blood had never bothered him, but hurting himself in front of so many people a little embarrassing.
Glancing about while he wiped his face on his sleeve (only managing to smear the blood across his face), he noticed a girl staring at him with widened eyes and paling skin. She looked horrified. Hadn't she ever seen blood before? Feeling a sudden rise of indignation, Rick got up to his feet, walking slowly back to the group he'd just passed.
"
... You never see someun hurt themselves before?" He asked, a little accusingly, lashing out a little since he felt so embarrassed.
Shawnee's eyes kept locked on the carmine liquid, which the boy spread across his face. Her thoughts churned and her stomach knotted tightly. He came closer. She could have sworn her heart stopped dead in her chest as the deafening roar of her heart pumping filled into her ears. He spoke to her, but she didn't hear the words, she only saw the blood on his face and sleeve. With lungs that were burning from short inhalations, her body started to tremble.
With aid of one of the girls who had watched she helped Kana to her feet and carried her small bag to the area it was supposed to be placed. Moving back over to Kana she led her to the back of the line and gave her a sweet smile. Kana looked at her with pale eyes before looking away. The girl managed to make a small comment about hating men. She nodded her head, agreeing with that statement before introducing herself.
(sorry guys my real life made me forget about this for a bit xD )
Merideth had been blending in with the crowd through the whole commotion, like the others he placed his bag near the door, all he had was a backpack and it wasn't even really full. by the time he did that he merged back with the crowd, once again finding the tribal girl from before, he missed the other girl's comment about hating men "that Corvin guy's a prick huh?" he put his hands in his pockets and sighed "I know we have to listen to him, that doesn't mean we have to like him, anyway I hear he's a total psycho... some say he once took a boy out into the woods for a private lesson, the student stepped in a bear trap so that Corvin guy ate his flesh and kept his blood for dark magic uses" of course when there's a big scary guy like that at a school, stories tend to be created.
He glanced over at another pair, one was a girl, she looked like she was freaking the hell out! and the guy in front of her was bleeding from the face, and he was yelling at her, in a huff he stormed over to the other guy "come on man, don't bloody snap at her" he handed Rick a tissue "wipe that shit up man, it's only something to be embarrassed about if you loose your cool" after the other guy either took or rejected the tissue, Merideth turned away "look cool man, it ain't cool to act out when you get hurt, just wipe it off like it's nothing" he said all this in hushed tones so others wouldn't hear.
Lifting her head she looked up toward the one she had met before. Smiling a little she nodded her head. "R...right." What he said gave her much comfort and lifted her spirits within seconds. Laughing to his comment about him being a prick was the most that had lifted her spirits. When he had walked off she had followed, looking at the guy who had snapped at another about something dealing with blood. Stopping at his side she watched him pull a napkin out for him. When she heard his side comment she decided to add her own advice.
"I don't think it was that bad. She just may be a little afraid of blood."
