Fantasy Willowwood Conduits

Lore
Here
Shade thought a moment. “I’m not sure… I’ve never had ghosts down here before.” He stood patiently waiting for Chester’s hand to touch Ivory again uncertain of what their bond would do if he whisked Ivory back to her shop without Chester near. Plus how lost Chester could possibly get if Shade couldn’t see him.

Ivory snapped out of her focus on the lights and shook her head at her bond.
"Let's not test it...please?" She requested Chester rolled his eyes slinging his arm around Shade.
"It'll be fiiiine, what's the worst that can happen?" He said looking to Shade expectantly hoping he'll back him up.

“Your head could explode.” He calmly answered as he reached up and touched the mist. The three of them warping into Ivory’s store just behind the counter. “Or your atoms could be scattered all over Willowwood and you’d be in indescribable pain.” He finished as an afterthought.

Chester knit his eyebrows together
"...I dunno...I don't think I have atoms actually..." he trailed off pouting slightly that they had left dropping his arm and flopping backwards across the counter dramatically.
Ivory shook her head blinking at the rapid change of scenery.
"That was incredible...thank you for your help." She smiled looking a tad bit uncertain as if she was trying to decipher whether or not he was being serious about the possibilities.

Shade grinned wide. “Yeah no problem! I needed to stretch my legs some anyway. Maybe sometime you can hang out longer. Eel always needs company even if he’s not always in the mood. I’m glad he’s making himself some new friends.” He moved and hopped over the counter very careful to not hit anything. Growing curious about the new surroundings he found himself in.

Ivory smiled checking through time and letting out a small relieved sigh moving to grab a clipboard from under the counter and setting it on there.
"I wouldn't necessarily use the plural there...but same goes for Chester. Could I get you anything? Coffee? Tea? Water?"
Chester sat up bringing his legs to sit criss-crossed blinking after Shade had jumped over the counter and thus him.
"Feel free too look around not much is interesting though." He said sticking his tongue out Ivory afterwards.

“I love tea! Any kind will be alright. Please and thank you.” He flashed a grin and took an interest in the tarot cards and some of the things near them.

Ivory nodded quickly heading up the stairs to start a pot leaving him with Chester temporarily.
The ghost rest his chin in his hands letting out a bored yawn and glanced over to their guest.
"...you're into Tarot?" He asked not so much out of curiosity and more so looking for a way to entertain himself.

“No…. I’ve done palm reading in the past… I had to stop doing it because…” He trailed off going slightly pale. Giggling a little and putting a smile on his face. “Anyways I haven't done it in a while and never really got interested in other stuff. Art and my medical training takes up a lot of my time.” He shrugged and stepped away from the tarots.

Chester tilted his head as he stretched out.
"Ew, that sounds like it has to be boring if that's aaaaaall you do....how do you survive like that?" He asked his red eyes glancing over at him as if he was trying to get a read on the man.
The sound of the door opening above cued one in that Ivory was returning, the conduit quickly descending the stairs and letting out a breath of relief that Chester wasn't causing too much trouble.
"I forgot to ask,any tea preferences? I don't have a lot of variety but I have chai, mint, and earl gray."

“Mint is fine… thank you!” He smiled and then faced Chester. “Yeah my life is a bore… but considering that I can't do a lot of things because of my C.I.P. The fact alone that I'm still alive is a miracle.” He itched at his jaw very lightly as he glanced away back to the different artifacts.

Ivory hurried back up the stairs
"One cup of mint tea coming right up...do you want anything in it?"

Chester narrowed his eyes in confusion momentarily before shaking it hopping off the counter and doing a little spin.
"Welll being dead has its perks....and ya know what, who wants a boring life let's spice it up. Screw your CIP whatever the fuck that is." He declared coming to a stop in his spin facing him.
There were actually a few guides to palm reading and other forms of divination set up on one of the small tables next to a necklace stand with pendulums hung from it.

“I'm good without!” He called after her.
Turning to leaf through the palm reading book and giggling at Chester’s words. “Cip is a medical term for cognitive insensitivity to pain. Unlike Cipa which makes someone unable to sweat I can actually feel temperature and can sweat. Actually, I have a problem where I do it a little bit too much.” He paused and trailed off giving Chester an apologetic look. “I'm sure you didn't want to know all that though…”

Chester snickered waving him off.
"Oh please, I come from a time when deodorant wasn't even invented and commercialized yet. A little sweat is hardly the worst thing I've heard of....so wait wait wait, you can't feel pain? Dude do you know how much cool shit you could do with that? Cuz I do, we could have a blast with this." He grinned widely grabbing his shoulder and throwing out his arm for emphasis.
"You sweet summer child think of all the fun you've been missing out on. "

“That I can't have… not feeling pain isn't some super power… if anything it’s a curse. Do you know how hard it is for me to stay alive?” He swayed, moving with Chester and smiling at how enthusiastic he was about it. “Or at the least healthy. Especially in my field of work. A small infection could be what does me in. Though I'm very aware of the fun I miss….” He frowned a moment before shutting the book in his hands. Checking over his palms for any cuts from the paper.

Chester scoffed batting him with his tail.
"Okay so maaaaaybe that's a concern...buuut as someone who is dead consider the fact that being a ghost is actually pretty fucking cool...we can work around the whole it being a danger thing though if you must insist. " He pouted taking the book he put to the side and flipping through it himself out of boredom.

“I'm sure my brother wouldn't take kindly to having me a ghost.” He giggled and watched Chester. “What sort of things do you like doing?” He asked as he picked up another book to look through. Trying to make some more conversation with Chester.

Chester shrugged throwing the book back carelessly just avoiding knocking over a crystal display.
"Acrobatics, I've been doing them since I was ten....longer honestly considering I incorporated a lot of my street maneuvers into my old routines. Couple other things as well but that's the main thing...unless you count scaring people as a hobby...what about you Mr. Artsy? Surely that and medical work can't be the only things you do?" He asked crossing over to the counter and leaning against it.
"Also your brother is a buzz kill so really who cares what he thinks?"

“Ooh! That sounds awesome.” He paused to think. “I'm good at… erm… I’m not sure actually.” Shade crossed over to the counter following Chester. “And I care, Grace has worked hard to keep me and Meg safe.” He folded his arms over his chest and tilted his head. “Acrobatics are pretty cool. You were part of a circus in your prime right? What was it like?”

Chester scratched his chin as if trying to figure out how to describe it.
"Well...probably not like what you're thinking....it was honestly more of a guise for what we all really were...but it was nice. Really tightnit, kind of like a family. We had a witch that was talented in illusions that helped disguise us all as humans and help erase memories of those that disappeared with us. It was a lot of work...but never a boring day." He settled on, he held a fond tone in his voice as he took off his tophat tracing the rim of it and staring down at it.
"Also, again whole protection does not equal being able to boss people around thing. " he said pointedly glancing over.

Shade shrugged saddling up beside Chester. “I'm sorry that you can't be with them anymore. That sounded like a perfect place.” He smiled and took out his phone checking the time. Frowning at a text he had received before putting it away. “And my brother doesn't control everything.” He refuted back.

Chester shrugged kicking back.
"Eh, I'm sure they're all still out there doing their thing. If I'm lucky we'll reunite." He pushed himself up as the door opened upstairs.
"And it sure seems to me like he does. Think about how much of life you've missed out on, how many times has he stopped you from doing something, you didn't even know what Halloween is." He pointed out sticking his tongue out at Ivory as she descended holding a ceramic mug giving him a scolding look.
"Oh please don't be pulling this routine again...I'm sorry if he's bothering you. " Ivory said crossing over to their guest and offering over him the mug.

“Well, holidays aren't celebrated all that much with Receiver. Any holidays we do know about are from before her. I've kinda grown up under her so… and the orphanage only celebrated Hanukkah and Passover.” He smiled and turned to Ivory. “Ah thanks! And he’s not a bother at all.” Shade took the mug from her and gave a bright smile. His blue eyes glancing between them.

"See we're fine and damn....how old is Reciever, that makes her older then me." He whistled out shooing Ivory off as she let out a quiet puff of air.
"...If he starts being too pushy let me know, he does this kind of thing all the time. "
"And look were it got you, boom no brainwashing. "
"It wasn't brainwashing it's called basic etiquette. " Chester rolled his eyes jerking his thumb at Ivory, wiggling his eyebrows at Shade.
"And heeeey that makes us Orphan buddies." He grinned holding up his hand for a high five.

Shade smiled and returned the high-five before thinking about his question. “I’m not sure how old she is… it’s over a hundred I believe at least. Xavier remembers back when other older members were alive and said a lot of them grew up under her.” He sipped the tea a soft hum coming from him. “This is delicious. Thank you!” He beamed at Ivory as he took a breath just enjoying the smell of the tea.
