Ember walked through the hallways clutching on to Zoey tightly. He carried his bag in one hand his footsteps echoing in the hallway scaring him ever so slightly. He already didn't like this place and tried to go upstairs into his assigned room without tripping on the pieces of rubble lying there. He entered a bedroom and placed his bag on the bed farthest from the door on the left side. He opened his bag and placed what little clothes he had in the chest at the foot of the bed. He placed his bag beside it and sat down on the bed sighing leaning against the wall and bringing his knees up to his chest wrapping his arms around trying to make himself small, as zoey sat beside him.

"Hm, hm-hm hm-hm-hm..." The sweet voice hummed from below.

Outside, the half-dragon was hanging wet laundry on a clothesline, her tail lightly swaying along with the tune as she worked quickly yet peacefully. The redhead seemed completely involved with the work, though simplistic it was calming for her. Amy glanced up as she heard a door close above her, she turning her pretty green eyes up to the window. "A new sibling...?"

Ember looked out the window and saw what appeared to be a dragon girl doing laundry. He watched her her for a few minutes actually a little fascinated in what she was doing. He grabbed Zoey and held her in his arms watching what the girl was doing. He had never really learned how to clean clothes like that and found it a little interesting.

@Cherrywitch

The redhead let her wings appear from her shoulder blades, they sliding off her skin. Amy flew up, gently landing on the windowsill with a shy smile. "Hello. You're new...?" She didn't like people, but children she enjoyed. There was something about their innocence and cheerfulness that made her happy.

Ember jumped back as she appeared in the windowsill but quickly came back to the window interested. "Y-yeah I j-just got here." He said doing his best not to stutter. It had always been a habit for him to stutter when he was nervous or scared, although this time it was a little of both. He stared in awe at her and her wings thinking she was quite beautiful.

@Cherrywitch

The half dragon tilted her head happily, her red locks falling off her shoulder. "Well, it's nice to meet you. My name is Amelia, but you can call me Amy..." Amy gently pat his head in a comforting way to calm him down.

@JayKuro

Ember flinched when she suddenly reached out but relaxed as he realized she was just patting his head. "My name's E-ember." He said "and this is Zoey." He said looking down referring to his stuffed animal clutching her tightly, Afraid to let her go.

Amy giggled, sitting comfortably on the ledge. "Well it's very nice to meet you both...what are you two doing here, anyways?" The half dragon said interestedly. She leaned her chin on the palm of her hand.

// I hope you meant my past o_0

"Well my Mommie and daddy wanted a girl but since I'm a boy they didn't want me..... They beat me but after a while they got tired of it they threw me in an alleyway before the orphanage picked me up." He said looking down "what are you doing here?" He asked looking back up at her.

@Cherrywitch

(Yeah I did. :P @JayKuro)

The redhead seemed sad at that, but managed a smile anyway. "I don't know. Ever since I can remember I've been here..." Amy looked away at the outside world, melancholy. "But... I know my parents are out there... Somewhere, waiting for me..."

// okay

:P

"Ah, I hope you find your parents one day." Ember said to her looking down at Zoey again. He hadn't really been in a conversation as long as this and wasn't on what yo say and how to act so that she wouldn't get mad at him. "What's it like here?" He asked the question having been pondering his mind for a while now.

@Cherrywitch

Again, the dragon looked worried at the question. "Honestly... It's not a nice place. But if you listen to the adults you should be fine. That's how I made it this far..." Amu muttered the last part mostly to herself.

"It's not a nice place?" He muttered looking back towards the door. He didn't see anyone coming and sighed with relief that an adult wouldn't be coming in at the moment so far he hadn't seen any and was a little glad that he hadn't. "Listening to the adults? How many adults are there?" He asked in a scared tone looking back at Amy.

@Cherrywitch

Noticing his worry, Amy gave a comforting smile, gently petting his head. "Don't worry. I won't let them be mean to you. I take care of all the younger kids... Most of them call me their big sister." The half dragon laughed. "You're safe with me." She stated confidently.

@JayKuro

Ember smiled glad that he had met someone nice already. "thank you" he said looking at her not knowing what else he was suppose to say. He repositioned himself on the bed and now sat cross cross apple sauce with Zoey in between his legs.

@Cherrywitch

The wings folded back into just tattoos on her back. Amy slipped into the room. "C'mon. You must be hungry, right?" The redhead gave another comforting smile. "I'll make you something. I just finished my chores anyway, so they won't care."

@JayKuro

Ember nodded and jumped off the bed following after Amy. He was in fact really hungry as he hadn't really eaten anything sustaining for the past week or two. "Thank you" he said as he followed behind her a little close so ghost if any adults came he was ready to hide from them.

@Cherrywitch

Amy's tail waved behind her as she walked, ending up in the kitchen. "What would you like? Cereal, or a sandwich... The other kids love my grilled cheese sandwiches." She offered, her claws reaching up high into the cupboards.

@JayKuro I'm going to bed soon.

// okay I probably am too

As they walked down the hallways Ember got a little closer to Amy, this place really creeped him out. He looked at her tail almost reaching out to touch it, soon they entered the kitchen and Amy mentioned something about grilled cheese. "Grilled cheese please!" He said happily remembering the last time he had one. He really liked them, his eyes brightened considerably and he smiled looking at Amy.

Amy laughed happily, patting his head. "Sure! I figured as much." The half dragon started to cook, her tail continuing to sway. She began to hum again in a pretty voice as she grilled the sandwich, soon placing it down with a napkin and a glass of juice in front him. "There you go! Tell me if it's good." Amy sat beside him with a cup of coffee.

@JayKuro

"It tastes amazing!" Avery said eating happily swinging his feet back and forth. "It's the best thing I've ever had!" He said not exaggerating in the least. He soon finished drank his juice and wiped his mouth with the napkin. "Thank you Amy." He said getting up and walking over to the sink bringing his plate and cup with him preparing to wash them.

@Cherrywitch

The half dragon giggled slightly. "Oh, it's just bread and cheese. It's not like it's luxury." Amy stood, taking the items from his hands. "It's alright, I can wash them. You should have a break before you get chores..." Her palms were rough and cracked, seemingly from all the work she did. And yet, she still smiled.

@JayKuro

"A-are you sure? I don't mind washing them, you just got done with a chore." He said looking at her curiously as to why she took them from him. His parents never took the dishes from him in fact they always wanted him to do the dishes, he wasn't use to not cleaning up after himself.

@Cherrywitch

Amy looked down at him, gently rubbing his head in a sisterly way. "Don't worry. You're too young to be a maid..." She muttered, a tinge of sadness in her voice, but she grinned anyway. "You'll get a lot of work soon... You don't have to do more than required."
