TLDR; God was least heard on Earth. Archangels are searching while losing their power. Some are stressing about Lucifer gaining power through the absence of God and corrupting the Earth even further. This way, he can take the throne of Heaven and shift the universe in his own ugly image (allegedly). Shit is really going down.
Officially, God is missing on Earth. Granted, it had been years that He gradually pulled away. His voice was fainter and fainter, whispers seeping into the ground of His Creation. The seven archangels felt it one day – the rupture of the silver cord connecting themselves with their Father. Some felt it long before and chose to remain faithfully silent. God would not abandon them. God would surely not leave His unfinished project, they thought. Yet others secretly welcomed the change, whether they wished to admit it or not.
The crisp Summer of 1998. Servants without a Master. No consequences nor expectations.
There were two pressing issues. First, the whereabouts of God. And the second, the one at the forefront of Michael’s mind: Lucifer. It was to be assumed that Lucifer’s goal was to engulf Earth in sin. The scorned fallen angel could only be thwarted by the looming authority of his Father. Now, it was assumed Lucifer’s goal was to take the throne in Heaven and sculpt it to his image – carnage, chaos, lust, darkness. The aspiration could not be confirmed nor denied.
Rumors and speculation stirred from Heaven to Hell. God left on purpose. God’s power expired, and He became One with His Creation. God was testing his angels. There was a traitor among the archangels, one who corresponded with Hell and had therefore been responsible for God’s departure. Tension tremored in Heaven. Some archangels forged through, investigating leads and searching for the truth. Never mind that their power was slipping. They had to find their Father.
Other archangels were stunned and intrigued by the change. God, the source of their energy, their light, their angelhood, was no longer a chain binding them to morality. They started to feel things more freely. They could taste things on their tongue. So while they (begrudgingly) followed leads, their transformations were starting to get them sidetracked.

Things to Note about Archangels
- Archangels have always had their own personal thoughts / feelings about things, but the relationship with their Creator has always taken precedence and numbed any reservation they may have. Over time, their connection has slowly been chipped away. They are starting to develop their own wills. This includes the capacity to sin and go against their very wiring. Some are more developed than others.
- They have their own complex relationships and histories with one another. It is akin to familial relationships.
- Their individual purposes are diverse, but their main goal is to spread positively charged light energy into the world and prevent Lucifer from engulfing it completely in sin. This way, they can strengthen Heaven with pure souls and therefore, more light energy.
- Their very essence and physical manifestation of existence is a terrifying ball of light with large wings in their own distinguishable color. On Earth, they overtake a vessel.
- There are ranks in Heaven, but just know that Archangel is the highest rank due to being conceived in Heaven and not on Earth as well as never possessing a soul. Think “purebloods”.
- Since the beginning of Lucifer’s Fall, he has always wished to fill Hell with impure souls. It gives him power and a leg up to rise to the throne of Heaven. There has always been a war in stalemate between Heaven and Earth, a constant pushing and pulling with no official victor. Now, with God’s absence, his goal has not been brought to light just yet.
- Lucifer, too, has his own complex histories / relationships with the Archangels.
- Demons are former human souls who have been sent to Hell. With Lucifer’s blessing and power, they have morphed into their ugliest selves and use their energy to tempt people into deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed, pride, envy, wrath, and sloth. They work as whispers. They are dark seeds in the subconscious of humans.
- Lucifer’s vessel will always have two large scar marks on his back where his wings were ripped from – an eternal scar of evidence for his betrayal of Heaven.
- 1998, Earth. There will be multiple different cities scenes will take place in.
- PURGATORY. This is a neutral zone. No one may exercise their abilities in Purgatory. It is a desolate plane between Heaven and Hell where souls are awaiting judgement on their final resting place. The experience in purgatory is entirely different for humans than it is angels/demons. For angels/demons, it is a mere meeting place. Think Switzerland.
- A vessel is a human typically with a pure soul who is on the verge of death or in a bad situation. Angels have preferences on what vessels they may take (male, female, physique, age, etc..). An angel cannot overtake a vessel without consent. If the human consents to being a vessel (AKA, their physical body used as an instrument of Heaven), their soul is guaranteed eternal bliss in Heaven as well as high rank as a seraphim. As a vessel, their soul is hibernating in Purgatory, the only neutral zone where they are untouched and unbothered. Angels keep vessels for about 300 years until the physical body is worn. Parting with vessels is personalized to the archangel. Some feel great devastation parting from a vessel and overtaking a new one while others do not think much of it.
- Vessels can range from the time periods 1698 - 1998 due to their 300-year expiration date. If an archangel has a strong connection to their vessel, they will adapt to their vessel's accent and habits/preferences (nervous traits, favorite colors, prefers food from their vessel's upbringing, etc...). Some archangels use their vessel's name on Earth to blend in with humans while others do not.

Michael

THEMES: justice, fire, protection, guardian
He who is like God. The eldest archangel and golden son. Michael’s fury has always been that of fire and brimstone. A strong leader of Heaven’s army and a faithfulness to his Father unshakeable by any measure. He hesitated little when ripping out Lucifer’s wings and pushing him from Heaven’s grace. He is the driving force and authority in investigating God’s whereabouts. If a doubt of their Father ever crossed his mind, Hell would freeze over. Michael takes on male-only vessels that are athletic and sturdy. No one despises Lucifer more than Michael. And no one loves Uriel more.
Uriel

THEMES: knowledge, nature, enlightenment
Light of God. The third born archangel and pillar of guidance for the younger ones. Michael’s right hand and confidante. Uriel remembers every soul and feels every pain, particularly the pain of mothers and children. Her role is guidance and light in spiritual darkness. She is the hand that reaches out for humanity in their darkest moments. Uriel is gentle and wise and has her own conflicting feelings of Lucifer, as well as a particular soft spot for Zadkiel. She, too, wishes to investigate God’s absence and faithfully follows Michael. Yet her doubts are slowly sinking their teeth in. She does not have the heart to tell Michael. Uriel takes on female-only vessels.
Raphael

THEMES: healing, nourishment, harmony, peace
God heals. The fourth born archangel who purifies any space they walk into. Their empathy is steadfast and enduring. They cherish every prayer and intervene in illnesses when fate allows. Raphael is to thank when your cancer goes into remission. Raphael is the enactor of great miracles, particularly in war zones. Yet for all the good they do, Raphael is starting to slip into hopelessness for all the terrible things they have seen. They love their Father. They even love Lucifer. And they obediently follow Michael’s investigation but ironically at the cost of their health. While everyone is intrigued or in denial of their loss of angelhood, Raphael is disturbed. The pain they have been hiding for eons is creeping up on them. Raphael takes on either male or female vessels, though they always have some sort of softness or unassumingness about them.
Chamuel

THEMES: confidence, love, relationships, the heart
One who seeks God. The fifth born archangel that encourages the acceptance of any form of healthy love. Romantic, familial, platonic, and spiritual. Chamuel coaxes humans to love themselves and find value in themselves. They are never seen without Jophiel and cannot perform their duties without Jophiel. The love between them is so great that it embodies all forms. Chamuel is the more curious of the two and finds themselves yearning for physical connections. They are fascinated by the concepts of “dates”, having only witnessed them all these years. Of course, they say they wish to find God, but their eyes can’t help but wander to a few experiences they find beautiful. Jophiel is worried by this. Chamuel takes on either male or female vessels.
Jophiel

THEMES: beauty, happiness, productivity, inspiration
Beauty of God. The sixth born and other half to Chamuel. Jophiel is there when a human is struck with grief or loss of self. Jophiel is there when an artist has lost their muse. If the archangels are the core and backbone in maintaining Earth’s light, Jophiel is the gorgeous adornment. Besides every great depiction of God and humanity on paper, Jophiel has whispered in the artist’s ear. News of God’s absence did not surprise them. They are more faithful to Michael than Chamuel is comfortable with. While they love Chamuel, they, too, wish to remain on the straight path. They are conflicted with their loyalties: true love for Chamuel or resolute faith for God?
Zadkiel

THEMES: mercy, forgiveness, retribution, exposure
Righteousness of God. The seventh born and likely the most jaded of the archangels, at least openly. He felt the pull long ago, and he struggled with how he teemed in anticipation for the rupture of his connection to the Father. Zadkiel was given the unfortunate role of stationing in purgatory to witness and hear confessions of each soul before they are permitted to Heaven. Eons of this have left him cynical and doubtful of God. He has no interest in the investigation and hopes God is never found. He dislikes Gabriel and Michael pointedly, for Father’s “preferential treatment” towards them and not himself. These feelings were dormant for a long time, but as he loses his angelhood (with glee), they are becoming more intense. Especially with Michael’s accusations of Zadkiel working with Lucifer. Zadkiel typically takes on vessels with male sex organs.
Gabriel

THEMES: messages, children, visions, dreams
God is my Strength. The last born of the archangels and perceived to be the most trusted and favored by God, even over Michael. Gabriel was always the diplomat from Heaven sent to Earth to communicate God’s word in both Testaments. Gabriel’s role is to care and preserve the innocence of children as well as nurture their development. For this, he has a particular fear and disgust of those who wish to corrupt the innocent. Before Lucifer’s Fall, he was particularly close to the firstborn, full of innocent love and admiration. And when he witnessed Michael ripping out Lucifer’s wings, Gabriel was the only one to cry out in agony and follow Lucifer to Hell. To talk sense into him. To naively scramble to pick up the pieces. When he realized it was futile, Gabriel was never the same. He pretends to follow the investigation for Michael’s peace of mind… but only half-heartedly. He takes on vessels with male sex organs.

Morningstar. The first born of archangels and scorned son who resides in Hell. Once loved and Father’s favorite. Once Michael’s rival and worst nightmare. Once the object of Uriel’s affection. Once… pure. Until he was stifled by Father, who is to blame for all of this. His power was too great to keep in Heaven, and with power came pride. Yes, he rebelled with a legion of loyal angels. He did not tell Gabriel. He couldn’t. Sometimes, Gabriel’s horrified eyes haunt and excite him – the fracture of innocence. That trauma left him wanting to corrupt the world in darkness and ascend to Heaven to claim the throne. Now that Father was gone, his goals remain mysterious but are only assumed to be the same. He is excited to witness the gradual loss of the archangels' abilities, whereas his only grow stronger the longer God is gone. He has a particular grudge against Michael. He takes on vessels with male sex organs.

seven.ONLY READ IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR LUCIFER. please only apply if you can handle this heavy and complex role. this role is dark. it is probably the most challenging role to play in the RP, but i have faith that you are a super special chosen one.
eight.IF YOUR APP IS ACCEPTED, the requirements for the CS include: name, role, sex/pronouns, a more in depth background INCLUDING information from your application PLUS circumstances in which your character found their vessel (vessels can be from anywhere in the world), their connection to their vessel (can be close, can be distant, whatever u want), their abilities as an archangel (controlling of the elements -- Michael is likely a fireboi -- or something creative and fitting to your character), and what temptations they find on Earth. once all ends are tied, i will include an example CS to help ya!
