Fantasy Welcome to the Pantheon (Reboot - Always Accepting!)

((lol stahp))

Gaël brightened slightly with pride.

@Stormyface

A knocking sound came from the foyer. Akuma froze, then collapsed. His spirit floated to investigate, then quickly flew back.

"Excuse me a moment." he said, rushing outside and diving into a snowbank.

------------------------------------

Caine stood outside the keep, brushing snow off his suit. It'd be nice if whoever was inside could hurry up. Unless this was the wrong still-inhabited keep in the middle of nowhere with a faintly demonic presence inside. Akuma was probably hidden anyway, but might as well try. Not every day your son comes back from exterminating your species.

@Delacare

((Thought I'd progress Akuma's story some more))

Gaël saw Akuma's spirit and figured that it would be redundant to tell him that he had company. He went to answer the door.

"Hello, I'm the majordomo of this estate. Who are you and what is your business here?" He asked politely.

((Waht does Caine even look like?))

The pair of ravens gave a human cough of disinterest at the sight of Calcifer. Huginn flapped up to Jamie's right shoulder while Muginn too to his left. Left both bobbed their heads in Calcifer's direction then put one eye each on Jamie.

"Really?" They questioned in unison. When had their little bird started hanging out with such a rambunctious crowd?

"What? She's not a bad influence. She makes me want to have fun." Jamie shrugged slightly.

"Mmhhmmm" said Muginn. "Whatever." said Huginn soon after. They weren't too sure about a ichor's child with one of Ilim's sparks.

'You better not let your brat get our Jamie into any trouble, cinder fly.' Huginn sent a telepathic message to Calcifer knowing he would hear it. 'We've waited too long for him for you all to mess things up now.' Muginn added in.

"Well since we've kinda let the cat out of the bag" Jamie said sheepishly, as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I think we should start with how we got our powers. Yeah?"

Amanda's eyes widened for a moment as the ravens spoke.

So why can't you talk again, Cal?

No mouth. I converse through subtle flashes and colour shifting in shades you can't distinguish from each other.

Amanda hummed and then sat down, leaning backwards on her hands.

"Well, I guess it all began a few days before we started hanging out. Claire and her possé had just... finished what they usually do." Jamie would know. "I was hiding in an alleyway, wondering how I would explain all this to Mum and Dad when... he arrived."

She stopped, and her eyes stared into the distance. After a few seconds, she swallowed and continued.

"He lent me a hand, helped me up. He fixed my glasses... That was the first time I ever saw magic in any form, and I was entranced. I asked him if he could explain how he did it and hoped he would show me, but he just smirked and told me to figure it out myself. I guess that has made this whole thing a bit more rewarding. Oh, and he gave me Calcifer to help me."

What do you mean 'Oh, and he gave me Calcifer'? Am I really that unimportant to you?

Of course not, Cal. I couldn't have done it without you.

And don't you forget it!

Amanda chuckled.

"Anyway, after that I spent a month looking through every magic-related webpage I could find. But all of it seemed a bit... fake, I suppose. I was nearly ready to give up when I got a message from a really wise old lady from Tanzania named Mbuku. She said she could teach me the basics of magic and then she did just that. She was a priestess of Ilim, who turned out to be the guy that helped me before. So I guess he might have nudged her my way. Another thing I have to be thankful to him for, I suppose.", she sounded a bit grouchy during the last sentence.

"Well, long story short. Now I can summon flames, make shields, banish demons and lots of things. And there's so much more for me to learn! I just looked a little bit in the dictionary during the fight and there was so much on just one page! I can't wait to read it!" She was unconsciously gushing and had pulled out the dictionary mid-sentence. Then she realised something.

"Heeey, OUR powers? Hah, so you admit you were the one who made the shadow spears!" She smirked good-naturedly.

((Oh, hey. I took some time, but it's a long post for some reason. Also there's a surprise in the works for you~~~))

@Firebear

Jamie listened intently. He noddesnodded at the mention of Claire and shuddered. His excitement was crushed by her accusation.

"I have powers, but I can't do thing like that. Why would I make things that could hurt people? It was you. All I can do is make things better, I can't make weapons; I wouldn't want to."

To emphasize his point, Jamie brought an old pen out of his pocket and passed his hand over it. The previously empty pen with scratcheds and cracks was restored with a new black mahogany casing and ink that never faded.

Amanda looked at the pen, utterly confused.

"I don't get it. Why would you forget? I..."

She noticed Jamie's expression.

"Nevermind, so what's your story then?"

"Well, it was when the Guys used to bully. They beat me up and ripped my clothes and stuff. I got home and ran to the roof to... cry in peace, and there She was, Nox. She was just standing there looking at the horizon like she could see the whole world and she was so sad." Jamie looked vaguely confused as he remebered the detail, but continued.

"I talked to her and she showed me she was a goddess; i thought she was a cosplayer at first. She fixed my stuff and made it look cool like it does now" he gestured to his leather backpack.

"She made my eye heal faster and gave me my powers. Then she faded into the shadows. She comes and visits me sometimes, but I haven't seen her in a while. I miss her." His mood dropped.

Amanda looked at the walls around them. Nox sounded much nicer than Ilim. Then again, she had a confusing track record with supernatural creatures. On one hand a demanding god and a murderous demon. One the other a very patient old lady and her first real friend. She didn't want to admit it, but Jamie felt like he was in the middle. He was super-sweet, but had a disturbing amnesia-inducing battle trance. Somehow it was 50/50. Oh, the ravens were rude. That tipped it a bit. She lay down on her back with the dictionary in her lap.

"Hey, you know what I want to do right now?"

She didn't wait for an answer.

"I wanna look through this book and see what I can do! Care to be my audience?"

@Stormyface

Caine shook Gaël's hand.

"Bonjour. My name is Caine, I manage a club in Las Vegas. I heard from a reliable source that a certain person by the name of Akuma had recently begun living here. Would he happen to be in?"
@Delacare

((Red hair, brown eyes, nice suit. Hides his wings, tail and horns with an illusion. He kind of looks like he'd be an extra for a Dark Knight movie, during one of Bruce Wayne's famous parties that end terribly. Btw, don't let the maids see him))

((Yeah but Nox has the power and experience to back it up.))

@Almosegosum

"O-ok!" Jamie brightened with anticipation and the ravens ruffled their feathers.

@Firebear

"I do not know if you are aware but this residence belongs to Nox. If you eould like, you may enter and sit while I contact a higher authority to press your inquiry." Gaël knew something was wrong,  but he couldn't figure out what;  this "Caine" character didn't look right.

Gaël stepped back to allow Caine to step inside.  All would be clear once he stepped over the threshold. The keep was claimed as part of Nox's domain. Anything Caine may be hiding won't be once he entered it.

(Perhaps... But she does not seem to act like it. She has not done anything to call for Hitch to respect her in any way. Hitch has done large amounts for humanity and they recognize that)

Caine stepped through the door. His horns, wings, and tail phased into existence.

"Oops. Should've guessed. Nox is involved, after all..."

@Delacare

((That's because no one knows what she does. Hitch may be a humanitarian,  but Nox is a cosmic-itatarian. [dont judge me I'm tired: just got off of work] No one knows what she does for the universe besides Time and Space,  both of whom do not interact personally with anyone. She has a distinct enmity for gods because they are never proactive enough, in her eyes.

With Hitch, it was just a bad first impression. He became a god through what she sees as a cheat code- which it is. His followers did not and do not know that they elevated him or why. His ascension is also unprecedented and an anomaly.  Usually new things make her happy,  but anomalies are unpredictable and most of them are counterproductive. His attitude also did not help the image she had built in her mind.))

"Of course. She is everywhere." Gaël stated matter-of-factly.

"Right this way." He turned and opened a door from the foyer that led to a sitting room.

In the sitting room stood a manservant who would be easily forgettable if not for his lack of eyes and bat-shaped ears.

"Lucas will attend to you while I make my inquiry." Lucas bowed before motioning for Caine to take a seat.

Gaël turned on his heel and strode down a hallway. He needed to make sure none of the mundane staff members strayed to close to their guest. He sent a passing manservant to go collect Akuma and bring him into the building, through a hidden route, so that Gaël could interrogate him.

((you better prepare))

Caine looked over at the manservant.

"Any fine wenches in this establishment?"

@Delacare

((yay a naked lizard lady is following me))

"The female members of the staff prefer to be called maids,  sir. They are all supposed to be considered exceedingly, though. Would you care for a drink while you wait?" He motioned to the fully equipped bar behind him.

"I never turn down a drink." Caine said, raising his glass.

"To my departed friends, your generosity, and the success of my book."

Flashback: Colonial America in the 1700s.

"Jackson, to be quite frank I think you are making a huge mistake" William said to the man. President Andrew Jackson.

"Tell me why? What mistake am I making?"

"I think invading Florida is going to be a huge mistake, you cannot possibly win here."

"And why not? Why can't I? I have control over the mightiest armies in the world, so tell me why I SHOULDN'T invade Florida"

"Those people simply do not want to leave. They will not be pushed one more time. They have already been pushed from their own lands by your demands, they will not tolerate another instance"

"I care not for what a bunch of Indian savages want. Our guns will crush all resistance"

"Why can't we coexist peacefully president? Our people only want PEACE. We only want to live in peace on the land that we have improved upon. Isn't that the American dream?"

"My white citizens want more land. And they will get what they want, just as they always do. And they will take it from you, just as they did to the other Indians who stood in the way of our quest for dominance"

@Stormyface

Lucas

"Of course, sir. Is there anything else you require? Music, perhaps television or a book perchance?"

Gaël

Gaël tapped his foot impatiently as the manservant came back having failed in finding Akuma.

"Forget it. I will go claim him myself." He waved the manservant away sped down the halls, getting more annoyed with every step.

He stepped out into the nearly arctic air without adding any coats and didn't so much as shiver; Followers of Nox where used to the cold and could ignore it for short periods of time while true adepts, like Gaël's family, didn't have to acknowledge it unless it was at least 50°F below.

"Master Akuma, I would be most appreciative if you would come back into the house and help me with this demon who you've failed to slay." He spoke with polite phrasing, but his tone was more frigid than the ice on the peaks of the surrounding mountains. He wouldn't hear no for an answer.

Caine

"Well, I would enjoy having a for maiden or two around, but..." Caine yawned. "I'm pretty tired out from traveling here. I think I'll have myself a little nap. The only thing to do, really, after a nice toast... ZZZZZZZZZZZ..."

Akuma

"Alright... I don't want to stay out here any longer, anyway. But, uh... You see, I don't think he'll be a problem. I mean, I'd rather not see him, and you should definitely keep any females far away from him (unless you want to babysit my siblings, assuming the women aren't killed in the process), but he's pretty lazy compared to other demons."

@Delacare

((I sense a Greek tragedy))

"O-ok!" Jamie brightened with anticipation and the ravens ruffled their feathers.

@Firebear

Amanda opened the book and turned dramatically through the pages.

"Ah, here's one! let's see..."

She stood up and cleared her throat.

Mugudim.

She slowly faded away from sight. Soon there was only a faint, barely discernible outline left to tell Jamie where she was. She snuck around him and jumped at him with a "BOO!!!"

@Stormyface

Lucas

Lucas left the room silently to give Caine his privacy and peace.  He sat on a chair outside the door and read a book, ready if he was needed.

Gaël

"I am not worried about your father causing trouble.  I woyld like your assistance in getting him to leave. Why you are hiding from him like a scared mortal child is none of my concern. Now,  come back inside." Gaël pushed back open the doorway in the wall and awaited for the shivering god to step through it.

@Firebear

Jamie waited with baited breath as Amanda cast her spell. There were stars in his eyes as she faded from view.

"That's so cool Mandy!  Where'd you go?" He swilled his head back and forth to try and find her.

When she yelled "BOO", Jamie literally jumped off of the bench in fright.

"Ahhhh!" The ravens hovered in the air looking ready to peck her eyeballs out the second she became visible.

Akuma grumbled, stamping snow off his boots. He strode into the lounge and looked down at Caine.

"You need to leave."

Caine's eyes fluttered open.

"Nice to see you, too." he groaned, straightening himself.

Akuma clutched the doorframe.

"Well, I'm sorry, but if any gods come by and find you here un-mangled, it's going to be painful for both of us. Besides, the majordomo's freaking out, and I don't want to disappoint him. We're friends."

Caine stood up, stretching his limbs.

"I just wanted to ask you if you were ever going to get rid of Lillith and her--"

"IF YOU'RE SO CONCERNED, YOU DO IT!"

"Don't worry. You can suppress your hormones. Just find a nice girl, and take her to a quiet room for about 15 minutes. Repeat until desensitized, etc, etc, contact Caine for more information. Say hi to Nox for me, and tell her I'm still available if she changes her mind. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"

Caine walked into Akuma's room, grabbed a key, and disappeared.

Akuma began banging his head against the doorframe.
