"Keep Caleb in order"? What dat man do to you?

Despite having only a cursory understanding of Placido's motivations he has decided that they are now kinda enemies, and he is one of the few people seemingly keen on keeping Placido's plans from fruition. So that stands to reason that Placido will use his resources to keep him out of the way... or because he is EVIL...

A man who would destroy people just like books that no longer have use for him, is not a man Caleb would want to give what he wants, that's true.

Y'all lucky Caleb can delete his emotions when needed. If Caleb were a less diciplinee guy he'd be mad af. XD

Probably not. Wisdom and all that. He would be zen, enlightened and would not be affected by the wiles of the world. Luckily he is the interfering, well intentioned, if heavy handed little sprout we all love and abhor... adore.... adore... :blowkiss:

Placido's out there checking out Magus and then Aster, if he was less disciplined y'all would better watch out XD.

"Fear nothing worse than the wrath of a woman scorned"

He really needs to get over it. He liked a guy who was only one aspect of a complete person. That person is still in there sure, but there are other aspects that are more powerful and more determined that the guy who does not want to be anything for anyone, and would never risk anything so that he would never lose anything. He would never have been happy being someone else's project... and neither would Placido as he is now.

now that I think about it, it kinda tells me a lot of about caleb.

You lost me after the word determined, I stopped understanding at that point XD

lol. Placido as he was = never even try a relationship or romance because he does not want to lose it again. Placido as he was = no ambition + no hope because he cut that away. Placido as he was = never be happy with someone who want to change him, because he has no ambition to change or the hope that he could be better.

NEW Placido = willing to risk because he has ambition, but he still would not like anyone who is just out to change who he is. NEW Placido = hates inauthentic action. NEW Placido = hates not being true to yourself because he was like that for a long time.

Better?

emotional trauma and broken hearts - long ago his char had a romantic attraction to mine. My char had been locking away most of his memories for the last two thousand years, trying to forget the past. But he is the god of memory, so you can imagine how that went. When he allowed himself to remember literally every memory from the dawn of non deity based sentience, he became different. He became confident and ambitious. xpstitch xpstitch s char does not like that. Now m char is being flirty, and he is saying that we should be happy his char can control his emotions, otherwise he might have acted like a scorned lover.

This is very simplified but it is the gist. I hope this helps - we have been at this for a while

A L M O S A L M O S Ah. I see. Though you do realize Caleb doesn't really push right? He offers help and if they decline, he stops. So the trying to change Placido thing is kind of incorrect. He offered Placido help with the alcohol, but once declined, he didn't offer again.

"Thou shalt not give out a second of thy lord's bibles once the unconverted hath burned the first. Let the unconverted STAY that way. The way of the religion of Caleb isn't for everyone. Those who do not WANT to convert, have the right to REMAIN unconverted. Caleb's code isn't for everyone, there is more than one way to have a good life. The way of Dionysus can be just as fulfilling and valid as our own code."-Caleb's bible.

Perhaps, but this is not a universally understood thing. When interacting with mentalities which are presented in a manner contrasting ones own, and then being in the presence of another who fully integrates this very contrasting behavior and who constantly cites this behavior as being 'technically better, but we wont judge you for being wrong' - often unintentionally and passively so - then you can not blame people for not wanting to subject themselves to it, even if only through interaction with someone who agrees with it fully. Your char goes about projecting and interacting with others in a manner than conveys - intentionally or no - that they are lesser than, because they do not agree with him, and that if they had only been smarter, they might have followed him to a T. This might be correct within the Canon - after-all he is supposedly the god of Wisdom, but it is not something that will endear him to others. No one likes interacting with someone who believes that, while they can be wrong - statistically, it is more likely that the other person is. Again, just an observation - and how I, and in turn how Placido views your char. I am not sure if you designed him as such, but even if it is unintentional - at least it makes for interesting story. :closed eyes open smile:

Ahhhh.... I SEE now. Good good. Understanding. I think I understand better now. Yeah. I'd say that observation is pretty accurate.

Ironic isn't it? Caleb wanted Placido to 'have ambition' as you put it...
But now that he does, Caleb doesn't care for Placido's new self....

I'm almost cracking up at the tragic hilarity of the irony.

modern day tragedy - woe betide my eternal soul

Prrrgadilly Prrrgadilly
Caleb is god of wisdom. Chopped liver only in appearance because he's not the kind of guy that's good at making friends but make no mistake, he's quite the powerful being.
Though with his lack of flashy showey clothes that other deities often deck themselves in, it's an understandable mistake to make.

"Vanity is a trap. To care so much about your appearance will lead to greed and disappointment. One moment you just want to look presentable, the next thing you know you're fussing because somebody else's golden robes are more expensive than yours"-Caleb's bible
