Weapons Are Human

Leila cast her eyes to the floor, trying to hide her blush of embarrassment.

"We have some things that could help at my house." She offered in her quiet tone, still not looking up. She didn't believe for a moment that anyone that hurt could just "walk it off". Even if he was a Weapon, an injury is an injury. Her father being who he was had taught her that.

Cisco kept trying to stand up. He thinks that she's doing this because she felt sorry for him. He didn't like feeling pity, it makes him think he's weak. "I said... I'm fine..." He said as he finally stood up. He went to the dumpster that was right next to him and leaned on it as he breathed heavily. Looking down at his stomach as he lifted his arm away from it. He saw some blood seeping through his shirt. Those guys did break a rib.

Leila was worried about the man. She wanted to help him to try repay the kindness he had shown her.

"I said... I'm fine..." He said. She saw a dark red stain on his clothing. His reply irritated her. She wasn't too sure why, but was unused to the emotion.

"Fine, but don't leave here." She demanded, surprising herself. if he wouldn't make things easy and go with her, she would need to bring supplies to him. She looked at him again. Something told her he seemed hungry. 'I'll bring some food as well.' She decided. She then turned on her heel and began to leave.

Cisco watched as she left the ally. He then sat back down and breathed slowly. He was starting to think that he should've gone with her but he was in too much pain to move. After awhile sitting in the cold ally, he was beginning to get tired as his eyes were getting a bit heavy.

"Maybe some sleep will help." He said to himself as he started to close his eyes a drift his head off to the side.

Leila ran back to her house. She darted inside and through a hallway, opening a door to a room she usually stayed out of. Her father worked as a private doctor and had a small surgery built onto their house. He was called away for a house visit that morning, so Leila knew he wasn't going to be home for some time. She scurried around the room, collecting the necessary items. Bandages, antiseptic, painkillers, etc. Luckily, she did know basic first aid. She ran up to her room and stuffed the items she collected into a sash bag. She was about to leave again when she remembered. 'Food.' Leila turned on her heel and went to the kitchen. Mia was there, washing dishes.

"Leila? Back so soon?"

"Forgot breakfast." She quickly said. It wasn't a lie, but not quite the truth either. She grabbed some roles and fruit and added them to the contents of her bag.

"That's a lot. You hungry today?" Mia asked, watching Leila.

"Huh? Um, yeah. Sorry, I have to go." With that she hastily exited her home.

Leila carefully retraced her steps to the alley she had left the Weapon. She saw a few specks of red on the snow by the entrance. Swallowing, she walked on. A spike of fear shot through her when she saw the Weapon leaning against the dumpster with his eyes closed. She knelt down next to him, putting a hand by his nose. She sighed in relief. 'Still breathing.'

"That's okay though. You can sleep." She murmured as she got out something to clean the wounds on his face. "I'm sorry if this stings." She gently dabbed a cotton ball on a scratch.

Cisco fell asleep and was out for quiet awhile. When the girl came back and started to treat him, he slept through half of it until he started to feel the sting of alcohol on his wounds as she patched him up as much as she could.

While she was helping him, Cisco woke up and felt a sharp sting. He saw a hand near him and grabbed it as he looked who it was. He saw that it was the girl that he helped before and let go of her hand.

"So you really did come back, huh? Why?" He asked as he looked at her, feeling the coldness again from the wind that came through the ally.

Leila jerked back when she saw her patient's eyes fly open, but he grabbed her wrist, preventing her from getting very far. He searched her face before releasing his grip.

"Because... I owe you, I guess. And I feel like I should." Leila replied quietly, digging through her bag. She got out a plaster and carefully placed it over the wound she had just cleaned. She retrieved some of the food she brought and offered it to the man.

"It's nothing fancy, but if you want it..."

Cisco notice what she did when he was asleep. She was helping him by fixing him up from the beating that those guys did to him. He wasn't expecting this sort of kindness from anyone, especially from a human.

"Because you owe me? You already gave me these gloves." He said as he looked at the gloves that he had on. When she brought out some food and handed it to him, he looked at her for a moment before taking it. "Thanks." He said quietly.

Leila smiled as he took the food. She took out the bandages.

"Um..." She looked at the red staining his shirt. "I need to look at your other wound. Could you... lift your shirt?" A slight blush spread across her face. She had never talked to others much, let alone seen a topless man. The thought that she had actually asked him! But it was so she could bandage him. He only needed to lift it a little anyway.

Cisco took a small bite of the food that she brought for him. It's been almost two days since the last time he's found something eatable, but this was better then what he finds. He liked the taste of the food, fresh and not moldy. Taste how it's suppose to taste instead of garbage. Smelled home made and not like crap.

When she asked him to lift his shirt so she could bandaged it, he looked at his stomach before removing his arm away and lifted the shirt. "Can you see it?" He asked, feeling a little embarrassed.

Leila's eyes widened at the wound. It looked pretty bad. He was skinny, she guessed from lack of food, so his ribs showed through . One of which were bent a way it definitely shouldn't be. She wouldn't be able to fix that on her own.

"I can see it." She replied to the question. The skin had broken at points, so she decided to clean those first while she decided the best course of action for the broken rib. Once she was done with the smaller wounds, she decided to bandage him to stop it getting worse, then ask her father to look at him. Luckily, her parents were mostly indifferent to Weapons, and if she mentioned that he had saved her, her father should be a lot more willing to help.

"I'm sorry, but this might hurt." She warned as she began wrapping the clean bandage around his chest.

(It's fine)

Cisco watched as she looked at his wound and started to clean it. He clenched his teeth as he felt the sting on his stomach, it hurt a lot more now that he was awake. When she said that this might hurt a bit, he thought to him self. "It already hurts." She started to wrap the bandage around his ribs and he shut his eyes from the pain. It did hurt more, a lot more, and he yelled a bit through his clench teeth.

"Damn it!" He said as he kept a tight grip on his shirt.

Hearing the shout of pain, Leila instantly apologized.

"I'm so sorry, just bear with it a little more." She didn't allow herself to look away from what she was doing as she talked. She clipped the bandage in place and sat back on her haunches.

I've done what I can, but you've definitely got a broken rib." Leila informed the man. "But... My dad can fix it." She looked at the ground as she spoke. She knew that most humans didn't like weapons, or even see them as sentient beings with feelings. She knew that this caused the Weapons to hate humans in response. Leila worried about the man's response but hoped he would oblige. If not... Well, surely some of the stronger painkillers she had with her in a higher dosage would-'No Leila! Bad! Don't have creepy thoughts like that. He's his own person. Drugging him then dragging him back home would be a horrible ideas for many reasons.' She mentally scolded herself.

Cisco bear through the pain for a little while longer as he clenched his teeth even more. When she finished he let go of his shirt and let it cover his torso again. He opened his eyes again and sighed in relief as she finished fixing, he looked at her as she talked about the broken rib. He knew that he had something broken, but when she suggested that he go with her to his father, who was also a human, and be fixed up even more.

"I'm not sure you're father would like if you bring a weapon to your house." He said as he shook his head.

Leila shook her head, allowing herself to look at man in front of her.

"If I explain how you helped me, he should be fine. He doesn't like seeing people hurt." She gave a slight smile as she spoke of her father. She may not see her parents much, but she was proud of them. She knew they loved her.

Cisco listen to what she said. He thought about her offer a bit more. He didn't have any money, and if he did he probably won't get any help at a regular hospital. He knew he couldn't go much longer in the cold if he had a broken rib. He sighed and nod his head. "Okay, fine, I'll go with you." He said.

Leila smiled, relief washing over her. She then remembered something. Looking at her watch, she realized how much time had passed. Mia would be angry, but her dad should be back home.

"Perfect." She murmured to herself. Leila stood up, getting blood flowing through her legs again. The wind was picking up and it was getting colder.

"We should get going then." She said to the man. She looked him over again and the plasters and bandages now covering him. "You can lean on me if you need to." She boldly offered. That was it. That was her courage for the year used up.

Cisco felt the wind pick up as shivered a bit. He nodded and tried to get up. It was difficult for him to get up but he used the dumpster to help him up. Once he got up she asked him to lean on her for support. Cisco was about to shake his head but the took a step and felt pain as he took that step. If he felt pain from that one step, then going back with her would be hell.

He sighed and threw away what little pride he had left as he nodded at her. "Yes, I could use some support." He said.

Leila rushed to his side and slid his arm over her shoulder. She was careful not to jostle him much, the way one would when handling priceless china. She began walking, keeping her eyes at her feet to make sure not to trip.

"It's not too far." She said. It was about a 10 minute walk when she was unburdened.

She slid under Cisco's shoulder and supported him as he put some weight on her. He then limped next to her as they headed towards her home. During the way his pain was starting to build up and it was hurting more on him. "How much farther?" He asked. She responded with a "it's not too far" answer and he sighed. "Good." He said.

The further they got, the slower they went. The man was obviously in pain. As they reached her home, she quickly noticed her father's care in the driveway. 'Thank goodness.' Leila led the man through the front door. Mia, hearing the door, called out to her.

"Leila? There's some lunch in the fridge if you want."

"Later." Leila manged, getting tired after half carrying a full grown man.

Cisco saw a house that they were slowly walking up to. He notice one car in the drive way and though that must be her father's. They walked and Cisco notice a large women that addressed the girl that was helping him, Leila.

They walked pass the women and Leila helped Cisco down to sit as he sighed in relief. "Finally." He said as he sit.

"I'll be back in a moment." Leila said before rushing out the room. She went straight to her father's study. He looked up from his book as Leila entered.

"What is it, Leila? Mia said you were out."

"Dad, I was in trouble, so this guy helped me, and now he's hurt, and you need to fix it." Her words tumbled out her mouth uncontrollably. Her father shifted his glasses.

"I think I caught the jist of it, and I don't even want to know. Take me to him." He said, standing up. Leila smiled in relief.

Mia entered the room Leila had carried an unknown man into. She recognized him quickly.

"So you're the one Leila met yesterday. How in the world did you manage to get those wounds?" She asked, peering at him. She straightened up as the door opened, revealing Leila and her father.

Cisco was sitting in the room with his arm on his stomach as he breathed deeply. He notice someone walk in and he looked up to see who it was. It was that large women from before. Cisco herd what she said looked at his wounds. "Humans." He said. One word was enough for her to know what happened since he's a weapon.

Cisco looked up again and saw Leila and a tall man next to her. "You must be the father." Said Cisco.

"I am," Leila's father looked over the man briefly, "and you're a Weapon." He sighed. "Leila, you'll explain later." He said before walking up to the Wepon.

"I assume you patched these up?" He asked Leila.

"Yes. He's got a broken rib." Leila explained. The doctor nodded and lifted the Weapon's shirt without hesitating. He quickly unwrapped the bandages to inspect the injury.

"Hm... This will need to be readjusted or it will set the wrong way." He deduced. "I will need to operate on it. Nothing big though. Won't leave much of a scar." He stated, looking at the Weapon for confirmation.
