Astraea Dupante
there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy....

Astraea had been aimlessly standing around the boat regatta. Her fingers wrapped gently around the champagne flute in her hand. She swayed along to the DJ as he played a softer song, Astraea’s took in everything. The boat regatta had always been so fun to her, her hometown never did anything like it, she loved that Anchor Bay brought the whole town together during the off seasons. And then when the holidays hit, and tourists came to town, they got to share their magical town with them.

Astraea herd her name called over the crowds of people chit-chatting about their kids, or school, remembering about the good old times. Her light blue eyes shined even brighter in the light of the moon, with the tealights hanging across the dance floor. She moved quickly across the floor, trying to make it to her friend as quick as she could, without knocking too many people over in the process. She pushed herself in between couples dancing, and friends in midst of their conversations. She continued on by despite the annoyed grunts and yells as she continued on through her path.

The quickest path is the straightest path after all.

Astraea wrapped Carson up into her arms, squeezing her ever so tightly. How could she be here after everything that had happened. She had broken up with Hassim, they had been so happy, hadn’t they? Carson though, was as strong as ever, ready to enjoy the night.

“I know…” Astraea looked solemnly at Carson. “I just-“ she dropped her hands back to her sides with a shrug. “worry about you, I guess.” A small smile formed at her lips as she looked at her friend in front of her.

“We will have fun either way.” She smirked bumping her shoulder against her friends. Lifting a glass of champagne off a passing tray and passing it to her friend in front of her. Clinking her own glass against her friend’s fresh one.

TL;DR: Jed has a date and things are looking up
tl;dr
Jed Gallinger
If I should wake before I die
Knock me out for heaven's sake
"Leelee? I'm going," Jed called out to the next room, fussing with his perfectly coiffed hair one last time in the bathroom mirror. After straightening his tie and a few more minor adjustments to his clothing, he flicked off the lights and a wandered into the living room to find his daughter, Leah, sitting cross-legged in front of the television on the big pile of blankets and pillows meant for constructing a fort.

"Bye, daddy," The little blonde girl mumbled in response, too enthralled in the Disney movie playing on the screen to even hazard a glance in her father's direction. Jed nodded to his assistant, Izzy, as she emerged from kitchen to see him off. "Thanks again. You're saving my ass," He chuckled, giving the brunette an affectionate squeeze on the forearm.

It was true, the girl was a godsend, and Jed was quickly growing so reliant on Izzy's help that he often wondered how he even survived without her for so long. Babysitting definitely wasn't in her job description, but of course his assistant was there to pick up the slack when he accidentally booked a date on a day he had Leah with him. She was a fairly new addition but was always there to expertly keep everything in order, sorting things out when Jed inevitably failed to keep his appointments, and life in general, from conflicting. Not only that, she was also unbelievably discreet, quietly cleaning up after or comforting Jed when he was drunk off his ass and literally crying on her shoulder. And as far as he knew, she never let a word slip to the the rest of the office, or reminded the sober Jed of how pathetic he'd been the night before.

"Ahem," Jed stuffed his hands in pockets, pale green eyes wandering back over to rest on Leah's golden blonde ponytail. "Guess I'll be going now, since nobody wants to say goodbye to me..." He pouted, shooting puppy dog eyes at his daughter, who had finally turned to peek at him over her shoulder. Chuckling, he caught Leah, lifting her up as she scampered over and hopped into his arms. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" Leah giggled as he nuzzled her chubby little cheek, covering her face in a ton of kisses. "Have fun with Izzy." He gave his assistant a playful wink, placing Leah gently back on her feet.

Jed mostly tried to stay on the wagon the days when Leah with him, but he was so nervous for his date with Roslyn that he was straight white-knuckling it til he could finally get a drink or two in him at the event. Though it was nice to feel something besides endless misery for once. But it was best for him he didn't get his hopes up over a relationship with Roslyn. Tonight, he would just have fun catching up with a friend.

Okay, a former fuckbuddy would be more accurate, but Jed liked to think they were closer than that. He was there with Roslyn when she had a breakdown and that jackass Nathan was completely useless, and she'd also seen Jed himself at his worst and never turned her back on him. Unfortunately life happened and Jed was Jed, scattered and self absorbed, so he of course lost touch with Roslyn for a while. He was just happy she reached out and assured him she still wanted to be friends.

Just as he was arriving, an incoming text from Roslyn told Jed his date was already at the pier. Sure enough he found her waiting, sitting perched on the edge of a fountain. "Hey, you," Jed called out as he approached, craning his neck in an attempt to peek over her shoulder at what she had in her hands. "You're so cute, what do you have there?" He asked, cocking his head with an amused laugh.

"You look stunning, Rosie," He grinned, taking a moment to subtly appreciate how lovely her silky lavender dress looked against her flawless, tawny complexion. As she stepped toward him, Jed couldn't resist pulling Roslyn into his arms; it felt like just yesterday since he'd last done that, and yet like forever ago at the same time. He was silent for a moment and just smiled at her, wondering if a quick kiss was appropriate. He finally decided to just go for it, reckoning a soft peck on her glossy lips was probably okay.

Zachary Lee
Surf's up.

“Anderson, the one that looks like you is attacking the one that looks like me,” Zach jested, a larger-than-life grin searing crosswise on his lips, “Or are they-?”

He suddenly broke out into a laugh like a gothic sunrise, obscurely charismatic. Growing closer to her, joshing her shoulder, he leaned in to say, “Do you want me to whisper what I think they’re really doing?”

As Harper’s attention diverted to the calypso lemonade scheme made of hot pink flamingos dunked over the rio blue, Zach pulled her up from the grounds of her feet onto the tips of her toes. And, swooning, she met him head-on. Taking dapper steps, her tennis shoes stepped up onto his. In the tangerine sky hues, he kissed her deeply, his knuckles brushing through her brunette hair and hers tracing the shadows of his tanned jaw.

“I promised you,” he remarked, his roamer blues eyes disastrously on her, “I’d kiss you by the flamingos.”

It was true.
It was also true that there weren’t two flamingos fighting in the first place.
The heartbreaker just enjoyed kissing Harper Anderson.

On another day, they were spread over the dry sand, feet still wet from surfing. Ergo, the sand still gritted to their overworked bodies and the heat wallowed in the atmosphere. Harper was reading as all avid readers did; the length of her face from the bunt of her nose to her chin was submarined in a different ocean from the one that they had just been on, the eminence of something inspiring in her moving pupils. Easing up a hand over her eyes, Zach shaded out the light from her eyes, making it easier for her to read. When he had grown tired of doing that, his hand had decided to snatch the book out of her hands and he had begun crowing the words out-loud.

“The fucking end,” he said when he got too bored, smacking the book shut, but his smile was wide when he chillingly foreshadowed, “Now, let’s make our own ending.”

“Zach’s acting weird,” Rose nitpicked at the breakfast table, spooning a crunch of cereal in her mouth, “Is he on something new?”

Passing through the kitchen on that comment, Zach crudely moved the cereal from one side of the table to the complete other side, so she’d have to get up for another bowl since her short arms couldn’t reach.

“Try eating your fruity pebbles now, you little snitch.”
Snickering loudly to himself, he picked up a Dasani water bottle from the fridge.

“Zach-” his dad chided from his seat, but by then he was already out the door.

Dr.Lee was a doctor who could fix and mend everyone in his care, but he couldn’t do the same for his son. They ate icecream together, hitched on about how their days had been going, and had the same reactions on the traffic junctions on the fifth avenue. But, it didn’t change that Dr. Lee was far removed from Zach’s life; sometimes, too much like a stranger. Zachary Lee was out, and came back most days with loopy, psychedelic eyes and steps that were patterned numb. Now, he came home and rented out his back onto the hammock on the back porch by the pool, swinging forth and back until he fell asleep.

“It’s got to be a girl,” Rose said one day suspiciously, joining him on the porch sucking on a popsicle, “I’ll figure it out with Madi.”

Not even a moment later, she began to theorize, “Claire? She’s sorta cool. And, Lemon hates your guts… Can’t be Harper.”

“Why not?” Zach had his finch-golden head against the striped padding of the hammock, but he perked up defensively, when he heard his girlfriend’s name.

“We go way back,” he flouted.

“But, you’re not her type. Duh, pick up on the hints, you loser.”

“How would you know that twat?” he retorted, irritated, and struggling to pull himself out of the hammock. It occurred to him that as he heaved himself out the hammock, Rose had figured out who exactly his girlfriend was.

Don’t try too hard.
But, the tan suit jacket had already rowed over his shoulders, the wrist watch clicking on. His honey gossamer hair was soft and the beiges came together like he was an old money angel. Gin-colored eyelashes on scorpion blue eyes, he was beginning to look like the Zachary Lee the town hadn’t seen in so long.

For once, Zachary Lee was reading between the lines; he could shake the fake and the real into two. A song echoed through the thick speakers, and cloves of crowds interspersed with dresses and suits. At a leeway from the dance floor and the food stand, he found her. A party girl, she wasn’t. But, she could make any girl around her insecure. She had a loose stance, an island-electric smile and when she moved, her white dress swished with her.

She was Max’s first.
She wanted them to stay a secret.
But god damn, he couldn’t stay away from Harper Anderson.

He took a napkin from the table and with a pen from his waist-jacket, he wrote, “I spy you. Ten o’clock, dance floor.” Upon seeing a waiter, he had asked him to do him a favor and slip the note to her as he handed her a glass of champagne.

Tabitha Carter
I wanna do the things that you only read about
By the way Claire flinched with a pained look on her face at the mention of her "mans", as if the verbal reminder had physically stabbed her in the heart, Tabitha could tell it was true. She couldn't help but feel for the other girl. And when Claire invited her to join them, Tabs almost wished she hadn't hauled off and screeched in her face like such a bitch. Well, for about 15 seconds at least, until Claire opened her mouth to speak again.

"Why are you so amped to stick up for your bitch ass friend? Looks like she ditched you tonight to go get dicked down by Cody," Claire remarked with her patented smirk and eyeroll combo. "She did not! She's here with her dad! She hasn't even seen Cody," Tabitha scoffed, secure in the knowledge that she must have successfully talked Mariah out of hanging with the scumbag that stood her up for prom. Claire just snickered, shaking her head. "Girl. They're sleeping together."

"What?" Tabitha squeaked, searching her fuzzy brain for any explanation that would make sense as to why Mariah would keep such a thing from her. Even if she knew Tabs would be angry hearing it was to Cody, how could her best friend not tell her she'd lost her virginity?

Her mood even more soured, Tabs glared at Ivy when her fellow petite brunette made a snide crack about her outfit. "At least I don't look like a Toddlers in Tiaras reject," Tabitha sneered. "And wow," She turned to the other Mean Girl, the one that had called out her abysmally stuffed chest. "That's the ugliest fucking dress I've ever seen in my life. What kindergarten teacher did you steal that from?"

Although she knew it was just the champagne talking, Tabitha was proud of herself for snapping back at the bitchy trio instead of running off crying like she normally would. She couldn't revel in her victory to long though, thrown by Ashley's comment when the freshie spoke up again. "Fix it? You could?" She glanced up at the other girl then back down at her chest thoughtfully.

Claire rudely interjected, shaking her head at the freshman. "Bitch, how are we gonna fix it here and now? You need some of these," The eldest turned her attention to Tabitha, reaching into her dress to fish out one of those bra inserts that look like a slab of raw chicken. "You think I actually have tits?" She asked, pointing out how one side of her carefully constructed cleavage was now completely deflated.

Claire sighed at the bewildered brunette, who was now studying the chicken cutlet padding, and snatched the thing out of her hand to quickly shove it back into her bra. "Look, just...I was gonna save this for after we do our hat mission, but I think this is needed now." Her curly mane bounced around as she shook her head in pity, motioning to the frown on Tabitha's face. "Gimme your glasses, bitches," Claire lowered her voice to a hush, pulling her dress up slightly to snatch the flask of vodka she had stashed in her garter belt.

Harper Anderson
when you wear a mask for so long, you forget who is behind it.

Harper bit the inside of her cheek as Max took off to respond to his phone, intertwining her hands in front of her she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet as she waited for Max to return. Social media had been some sort of outlet for Max, Harper really was starting to think that it might have been a bad thing he was so attached to his phone. But she also knew how connected it kept him to everyone.

She blew out a deep breath of air as she waited on Max’s return. Her thoughts wandering again, she wondered if Zach had arrived yet. Though her attention was supposed to be on Max, and her friends tonight, not the boyfriend she had been spending all her free time with.

Though, she wondered how long the honeymoon stage would last. When Zach would get bored of her, he wasn’t usually one for relationships. She pushed those thoughts out of her head as one of the waiters came by with a single flute of champagne handing it to her.

“And this…” He added as he placed a folded-up napkin in the palm of her hand.

Her opened slightly, doe eyed confusion as she looked up at the waiter who just turned to walk away and refill his tray at the bar. As he left she opened up the napkin only to read the most recognizable of handwriting to her. “I spy you. Ten o’clock, dance floor.”

A giddy smile appeared on her lips as she bit the lower in a feeble attempt to hold back the smile.

All her negative thoughts of Zach getting bored of her disappeared in a moment. She looked at the back of Max’s head who was still distracted by his phone, so she was able to look out on the dance floor as to catch sight of a floppy haired blonde boy waiting on her.

Catching sight of him, standing off to the side with his own champagne flute in hand. He was still watching her, a smirk on his face as he noticed that she had finally saw him.

He lifted his flute up toasting her across the dance floor, and she returned the same gesture. Her cheeks felt like they were burning red, she was sure of it.

Though her attention turned back to Max as he looked visibly distressed on his phone. His phone was such a double-edged sword. He gained so much from it, but yet he was always reacting so terribly, to things that just didn’t involve him.

“no worries…” She signed back.

Oh… Isa…

Of course, it was Isa. Harper wasn’t ever close to Isa, though she knew Max and her had a special bond. She never hated Max for that, but she also struggled to understand why he would let her get him so riled up. Harper wanted to call Isa selfish, for letting Max worry this much about her, for getting everyone so scared for her well-being. It seemed to be all for attention as much as Harper could tell.

She knew that Isa had gone through a lot, but still she had people who cared about her. Shouldn’t that have been enough for Isa. Harper had her own things going on, and as much as she wanted to run away from it all. She never did. She didn’t let others worry about her the way Isa did.

Harper’s attention changed as Max mentioned his medical records. She mimicked his sign, “Your medical records? What does that mean??”

“Max I’m more concerned about what you just told me?? Does your dad know??”
Harper signed rather messily as the worry crept up. “What would someone even want from them?”

Max changed the subject again. She listened to him apologize again, saying it had been a hard summer. Harper wanted to ask, but she also was reminded that the reason she didn’t know was that she had been MIA.

Zach.

No… Yea.. Of course Max… You can totally join us.” Harper was slow to respond, she would have to break the news to Zach eventually… Or just tell Max that Zach decided to not show up… Though more lies were likely not the answer… “I don’t think we’ve all been together since…” Harper stopped. Since camp, where Zach threw a water bottle at Max. And then admitted his feelings to Harper, while they were high.

Fuck… What was she doing.

TL;DR
Max and Harper finally get to hang out again.
tl;dr
Max Berkowitz

We accept the love we think we deserve.

“..Camp.” Max finished Harper’s sentence, his fingers brushing against each other so lightly that it barely happened.
The camping trip was well over a month ago now, but the embarrassment still burned hot in Max’s memory.

Zach had been teasing Max constantly throughout their entire childhoods, for as far back as he could remember. Half the time, Max didn’t even mind. Despite their differences and disagreements, Max had always thought that Zach was one of the coolest people he knew. All he ever wanted was to be able to confidently call him a friend, and he refused to let the fact that Zach picked on him sometimes get in the way of that.
But Zach throwing a water bottle at him and mocking him in front of their entire hiking group-- that was too far.
The camping trip had always used to be one of Max’s favorite things in the whole world. He never got to be a junior camp counselor before, since the year prior he got lost and broke his ankle before he ever got to do anything, so Max had been beyond nervous to make a good impression on those kids this year. He spent so long preparing those tree facts to share on the hike, and then… Zach just ruined it.
And for what? To get back at him for telling their dads about that stupid lie they pulled? To make Max look dumb in front of Harper?

Max didn’t want to be Zach’s enemy. However Zach felt about Harper, and however Max felt about them both, and however heartbroken he’d be if they were to become a couple and leave him behind, he just wanted peace. He wanted to keep them as friends. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing them both over this. And if that meant he never got to say how he felt, that was fine by him.

So when Harper agreed to let Max join their tutoring sessions, he was so happy he could’ve hugged her right then and there. He didn’t, though-- he always let Harper be the one to initiate those kinds of things. He knew she wasn’t as much for physical affection as he was, and tried his best to not overstep her comfort. He cared deeply about her, so little acts of respect like that were important to him.
“Great!” he beamed, bright blue eyes sparkling “I can pay however much Zach usually does, or… uh… what’s your usual rate? Sorry, I’m new to this.”
That was true: Max had never done tutoring before. His parents had always wanted him to give it a try, especially after his grades started backsliding in middle school, but he’d never had the nerve to ask anyone to help him out when he was struggling.
He didn’t want to burden anyone else with his inability to understand basic concepts and organize his own assignments. It was his own fault he forgot to turn in homework. It was his own fault he failed tests because he forgot to study for them.
Stupid.
Airheaded.

“I guess I just need a little help with everything.” He admitted sheepishly, pausing to brush a lock of his hair out of his eyes before continuing. “I have to take statistics this year, and chemistry, and this art class, and… I guess it’ll be fine though. I appreciate your offering to help. So what are you and Zach usually working on? I guess we could start there." He stopped, looking deeply into her warm brown eyes and hoping he wasn't being too awkward about this for her. He invited her here to have a good time, not bother her with his school troubles.
There was something far away in her gaze still, as though she were almost looking off somewhere else as she sipped from her champagne flute.
She wasn't still looking out for Hayden, was she? She had something else on her mind.
Max tried to shake the thought from his head. It really wasn't his business what she was thinking about, but he worried for her. If there was anything he could do to make sure she had a good evening...

TL;DR The gremlins discuss the possibility of Ashley hoe-ing it out
tl;dr
Ashley Park
I can feel us slip away, you're almost gone

Taking a sip from a glass, Ashley did a near spit-take when Nerd Girl started going after Ivy, "What the fuck?" Ashkey mumbled, her voice somewhat shaky from nearly spitting out the liquid. "What the actual living fuck?" She barely had time to process this new growing of claws before she was the prey "Excuse me? We all know it's fucking ugly babe, you think I chose to wear this?"

Her incredulousness was soon mirred by amuesment and begrudging respect for a solid insult. So when the tiny senior asked for confirmation that her chest could be improved, she merely forgot the dress incident. "Sure all we need are some badonkadonk lookalikes and a knife. We're gonna do a boob job right here." She remarked flatly, though a twinkle in her eye indicated that she wasn;t entirely serious.

Ashley rolled her eyes at Claire's protests, untying the cardigan to wear it in it's full hideous glory. "Titty lookalikes always find a way Chair. You should know this by now." With a sign and an eyeroll, she looked away, satisfied that the wisecrack would hide the fact that she'd majorly effed up suggesting that. "Holy shit you're flat?" She questioned wide eyed, her mouth slightly ajar at the contrast between both sides and how they looked equally natural.

Ashley glanced over at Ivy. "This could be us in 3 years you know." She gestured to the two girls. "Obviously I'll be Claire, and you'll be my tity mentee." Ashley whispered, careful not to ignite something in the two girls, something she rarely ever found herself doing.

It was a weird image honestly. 3 years in the future. She wasn't even sure she'd last that long, especially since she'd always assumed she'd die at 16 inexplicably. That was only solidified once she got into drinking and other reckless activities which she was certain would put her in an early grave. But sometimes she could even imagine hanging around and having fun with Ivy at 17, with some things different but their sort of friendship exactly the same.

"You know what?" She murmured, forcing herself to stop imagining dumb hypothetical futures. "She's looking kinda hot. It's like we're in a 2000's movie or something. You're Janis Ian obviously, Tandy's Rachael Leigh Cook."

vinnie lowes

Before Mr. Kennedy had opened the door, Vinnie had given Dylan a hard punch against his arm for that devilish grin Dylan always put up whenever he was about to ruin everything. The boy had absolutely no manners sometimes. 'Don't you dare ruin anything,' he
hissed to him before the large, wooden door had opened.

When the door opened Vinnie gave a forced smile before stepping inside and side eyeing Dylan who obviously had the same chatty mouth as their father. Jenny’s mom and father were obviously very excited and Vinnie couldn’t help but soften up a bit when he saw Jenny coming down the stairs. He didn’t care much for her dress but more for her curves, as she walked up to them Vinnie enjoyed the smell of roses that she brought along.

She tried to get the boys out but they couldn’t leave without a picture, Vinnie stroke through his hair before putting up a big smile and posing politely. He had met her parents a few times but wasn't sure what they thought of him yet, they obviously fancied Dylan a lot more as he was the one always talking.
As they walked to the car Vinnie didn’t stop his pace as Jenny and Dylan shared a hug, surely he was aware of how jealous he was acting but couldn’t care to stop doing it. He wanted them to feel the same way he did.

As he reached the car, he recognized her soft hands immediately as she pressed a kiss on his lips. Jenny looked at him with her big green eyes and Vinnie felt his cheeks shift colors. He had been in love before but things with Jenny were different, she actually liked him a lot more than he liked her and that was new to him. He couldn’t help but think of Winnie as Vinnie closed his eyes to kiss her but quickly shoo’ed the thought away. He was happy with Jenny, actually more than happy– besides Winnie was with Dustin and it was time for Vinnie to move on. How could he move on with anyone better than Jenny?

She gave him a compliment and Vinnie smiled as she adjusted his blazer and collar, ‘I tried my best,’ he said mumbling before opening the door for her like any gentlemen would. Any gentleman that wanted to get some at least.
‘I can say the same thing about you, you look breathtaking,’ he added as she sat down in the front seat, he was not going to let Dylan sit next to her for sure.

The car ride went pretty well, Vinnie had rambled on while paying more attention to Jenny than the road. He looked at Dylan a few times in the rear view mirror as he had not said much, which was not a normal thing for his little brother.
Vinnie felt a lump in his stomach but decided to ignore it, he hoped Dylan would just learn his lesson to not get so noisy with his business next time.

As they arrived at the boat regatta, Vinnie got out and placed his hand on Jenny’s lower back as she got out of the car too. ‘Did you know Dylan took approximately two and a half hours longer to get ready than me?’ Vinnie spoke as he gave Jenny a mischievous grin. ‘Can you believe that?’ He added before giving a small push in Dylan’s ribs and placing his hands back on the curly-haired lady who felt safe and comfortable to him.

‘When we get inside, do you want me to get you some alcohol too, Jenny?’ Vinnie asked, now waving his ID up in the air. He had gotten it from a friend and it looked amazingly real, he had asked his brother Jason but he obviously needed it himself as his life was slowly falling apart. Sometimes Vinnie got scared he might end up just like him but believed he was capable of more than his older brothers.
Vinnie looked at Dylan as he waved the ID still up in the air, ‘you’re only getting alcohol if you can disappear for the rest of the night,’ Vinnie teased him with a big grin on his face.

TL;DR Ivy, her gremlin best friend, a drunk sad girl, and a hoe all get on a boat.
tl;dr
Ivy Dawkins
Don't threaten me with a good time

"Hey now, leave Ashleghyn's grandma's dress out of this."
Ivy patted her friends' shoulder in a theatrical display of sympathy. "I promised her I'm gonna be the ugly friend next time. Someone's gotta take the L, y'know?" It was a pretty unfortunate dress, and definitely not something poor Ashley had picked out for herself. But Ashley had come here with her negligent father, who was now off somewhere trying to recover from a rejected proposal that Ivy was sorry to have only been able to see on video.
What she would've given to be there when that peanut-brained old shopowner got the shock of his life in front of a yachtful of rich people. It was beautiful poetic justice, in Ivy's opinion.
Ivy distrusted and disrespected adults on principle, parents especially, but Ashley had also given her genuine reason to think that John Park was a piece of human compost. In a lot of ways, Ashley was left dealing with the same lack of familial support and comfort that Ivy was. Perhaps that was why they'd grown to be such close companions.
Ivy always said that her relationships were all casual and no-strings-attached, only as permanent as the fun they were having, but Ashley was the glaring exception. Ivy wasn't really ready to even contemplate too much on it. She'd still rather think of herself as someone who could never be damaged by a little loneliness.

Claire was still mentoring Tabitha on the proper way to feign breasts, but Ivy had all but zoned out of that conversation, draining the last of her champagne when Claire reached down into her bra and pulled out a slab of beige silicone that for a split second Ivy thought was her actual boob. The small teen screamed and pointed at the object, making sure everyone saw. "Eww!!!" Ivy shrieked, howling with laughter and trying to grab the silicone pad away from Claire for a better look. "Indecent exposure!! I've been traumatized! Oh my god, oh noooo... I feel my childhood slipping away..." She wheezed, clutching her chest and pretending to sob in anguish. "I've seen things that cannot be unseen! I'm ruined! Chloe, why would you do that to me???"

Ashley caught Ivy's attention. "This could be us in 3 years you know. Obviously I'll be Claire, and you'll be my titty mentee." She said in such a way that it seemed to call for a sentimental orchestral underscoring. Ivy nodded sagely, lacing her hands. "Our paths have been changed, sister bestie. We've looked into the eyes of Claire's plastic honkers and we've found a new destiny."

Thankfully, Claire was ready to provide the antidote to her fake boob debacle. She reached under her skirt and pulled out a flask of vodka. Ivy's eyes lit up and she held out her glass for a pour... she was definitely going to be putting "flask garter belt" on her back-to-school shopping list. Claire was a whore, but apparently had her genius moments. Something harder than champagne was just what they all needed to get on board with Ashley and Ivy's master plan for a hat heist.

But then Ivy got an idea.
An awful idea.
A wonderful, terrible, awful idea.

"Listen up, hoes." Ivy mused, dramatically pacing a few steps to the side and striking a contemplative pose. "I've had a plan cooking."
Usually Ivy's plans involved someone dying or someone's beloved houseplants being turned into salad. Or getting people drunk. But as they'd already accomplished the latter, and Ashley's chef friend was nowhere to be seen around, she clearly had something else up her sleeve.
"Okay, so hear me out. Ears up, people-- We're going sailing." The grin on her face grew wider, the ever-present hellfire in her eyes flickering.
"I've been talking to Ashton about it so obviously we're already all in agreement. This accomplishes 2 things: the first, that no one shall escape, and the second, that we will create the perfect distraction in which to commit the perfect hat crime." She gleefully pretended to twirl an invisible mustache, giggling all the while. She huddled the group by shoving everyone's shoulders together and thrust her hand into the middle, waiting for a triumphant handshake of agreement. "Everyone's gonna be so happy with us reviving tradition. It's a boat regatta. You gotta regatta."

never admit when you're wrong

As Lemon reached out for his hand on her own, things felt different. There was no more pretending, burying feelings deep down. Though he still wasn’t sure he was good enough for Lemon, or if he would ever live up to be the person she thought of him as. He owed it to her, he owed it to himself to try.

Moving was all about making changes, wasn’t it?

Her soft hand caressed his rough skin, he felt like he was in a dream really. How could Lemon Pierce ever want the possibly reformed juvie kid. He could tell she was thinking, she had that look in her eye. Her brow slightly crooked as she turned his hand over in hers.

As she began to stutter and turn her thoughts into words.

“That’s okay, Lem.” Reid responded, his smile soft. “We’ll go at your speed.” He squeezed her hand in his own. “Lemon.” Reid sighed as he matched his eyes with her own. “I am just happy to be here.” He bit the inside of his cheek. Reid hadn’t ever felt so nervous with someone. He was always assertive, making the first move. But Lemon, he was scared to scare her off. He was scared she would change her mind and realize the mistake she was making before he even had the chance to be with her.

“I could never be mad.” He knew all the trauma her past relationship caused her, he knew what a complete prick Johnathan could be. He couldn’t be mad at her for that.

Reid just nodded to answer her question. It sounded like a much better way to spend the night, over finding everything and anything he could figure out was wrong with his car. That got exhausting quickly, though Reid found tranquility under the hood of his car after his grandfather had taught him all about it. Making him earn the right to drive it by building it up from scratch. He wasn’t going to be just handed everything in life, and some effort was needed to be able to survive. Plus, if he ever was to get stranded on the side of the road, he’d know how to fix it.

“I’ll be the boyfriend.” As Lemon went down the latter, Reid hid the biggest smile from her as he waited back in the tree house.

As he met her at the bottom of the latter he placed an arm around her shoulder, gently squeezing her against his side. “This okay?” He asked, though it had once been something he would have considered second nature with Lemon, he didn’t want the change in relationship to change all meanings with for her.

Lemon just nodded, reaching up to intertwine her own fingers with Reid’s that laid on her shoulder as the two of them walked back towards the Pierce’s house together

Hold my heart, it's beating for you anyway
"A race? Really? Sounds fun, why aren't we doing that?" Alexei joked, giving Josephine's small hand a soft squeeze when she slipped it into his. He gently guided her away from the larger crowd to relax in a more secluded area on the ship's starboard side, overlooking the water and placid view of the pier. After the third time noticing Jo awkwardly glance at her empty glass, he wordlessly plucked it from her hand, placing both empties on a nearby table to be grabbed by one of the cater waiters buzzing around. "You're too pretty for everything. I think we could handle it though," Alexei remarked as he chucked her under the chin affectionately.

"Excuse you, what was that?? I'm gonna pay?" He teased with a gasp of mock indignance at the soft punch Josephine landed on his arm. "That's it, you're going overboard." In one swift motion, Alexei grabbed her and effortlessly swept the petite woman up in his arms. "If I'm gonna pay, I should get my money's worth at least," Now carrying her like a newlywed bride, he took a step forward as if readying himself to toss her over the side of the vessel. Sure, the joke could have been made without all the theatrics, but Alexei simply couldn't resist an opportunity to pick up his girlfriend; the way she giggled like mad every time he did so just killed him.

Alexei grinned at Josephine when she was back on her feet, curling an arm around her waist to pull her in close to him. "Ah, you're gonna dance with me too? My goodness, and you're not even drunk," He teased in reply to Jo's suggestion, pausing to press a loving kiss to her forehead.

The couple had a lot of fun dancing together, even if neither one could fulfill their end of the bargain and not laugh at the other's dance moves. "Hey, I like your dance moves," Alexei chuckled, pulling Josephine into a hug after they finally took a break from the dance floor. He promised a swift return, taking a momentary leave from his girlfriend's side to find some water maybe, and perhaps something a little stronger to drink than champagne. It wasn't like he was trying to get Jo drunk, but he wouldn't exactly mind another visit from the more forward Josephine that made an appearance at the last party either.

Carson Hughes

Carson was more than thrilled to be spending time with Astraea, she needed it. She really couldn’t spend time with Alexei because she didn’t want to upset Jo. Jonah was always busy at the bar and though she enjoyed him he wasn’t exactly the most talkative person. Artie, he had been pretty much absent until he messaged her about the break up so all she had was Astraea and she needed her friend. No one else quite accepted her the same way, flaws and all with absolutely no judgement. The love she knew Astraea held always made her happy. So, she pulled her friend to be more in the center of the festivities.

She wanted to tell her about Jason and everything that had happened, to warn her friend about Derrick but the fear of letting everything out held her back and she instead chose to dance and drink her woes away. It was drink after drink and shot after shot, and Carson was not one to keep track of her alcohol consumption.

Instead she moved in closer to Astraea, mostly to avoid the crowds of people that were piling in. Her eyes still watching for any sign of Alistair, Derrick, or any of the other Lowes. Plus, she had to keep an eye on the gremlins at least before she left to meet up with Liz. If Liz did plan to make it on time. She leaned in close to Astraea, “Thanks, for being around to let me blow off steam.” Really Carson had plans to blow off steam in a better way, but for now getting drunk with her bestie was a really good option.

As she continued talking with Astraea about work and her new job opportunity, she had gotten a message from Yohan to remember to take her heels off and she did just that, of course this led to Astra looking confused, “Yohan. He’s worried because I injured myself the other day and he doesn’t want me injured when I start working for him.” Carson shrugged. Though her phone had been going off from Jason and she really couldn’t ignore him as he kept messaging her and she him. It was like no matter how much she hated him she couldn’t quite let go of the anger that had been sitting with her for all the years. She really needed to turn off her phone, but instead she put it away and just turned her attention to her slightly less drunk friend, “You need more to drink.” It was a quick comment, “Also you look beautiful tonight. In case no one has told you.” A wink was added to the end of the sentence as Carson downed yet another champagne.

Lemon Pierce

To say Lemon was ecstatic was an understatement as the word boyfriend left Reid’s mouth. She had dreamt of him being her boyfriend at least a few times and now it was real. Her fingers linked with his as they walked inside and to the couch. This was where she stopped unsure what to do next. She didn’t want him to think she wasn’t excited or happy with him because she was, she was just nervous. She looked between them and the couch, “Um. I’ll um..I’ll get the movie and popcorn? Yeah. And you, yeah you can sit there.” Most of her words were outwardly thoughts, “And then I can grab us a blanket. I um.” Her brain felt scrambled and she felt Reid turn her towards him and she let herself be pulled into an embrace. She didn’t like feeling nervous and frazzled especially because what if he thought she wasn’t good enough for him because she lacked confidence?

She looked up at him, “I’ll be back. Just um don’t leave?” she quickly rushed up to her room to find the movie things were flying and hitting the wall. You would think even with an organized room she would know where her movies were, but somehow, she never knew where anything was. After what felt like more than a few minutes of rummaging she pulled out Mean Girls. Her parents still had a dvd player and she kind of liked the charm of them watching a movie that way. Next, the blankets. Now, Lemon was tiny and the only blankets available that were clean were bulky and at the top of the linen closet.

So she carefully reached for the edge of the one that was dangling and every blanket toppled with it. So, she pushed the rest of them back in. She made her way back to Reid and tossed the stuff next to him. Next was the popcorn.

Lemon made her way into the kitchen and grabbed the popcorn, and tossed it into the microwave. She grabbed the big bowl from underneath the counter and as soon as the microwave beeped, she was ready. Movie night with Reid. She returned popcorn in hand and it looked as if Reid had gotten the movie set up. So, Lemon sat next to him awkwardly, “Um. This is where I cuddle with you right?” She moved closer to Reid settling in next to him. Something they had never done before. It was nice.

All she could think about was her breathing and if she made him uncomfortable. Was she squishing him? Would he say anything if she was? She thought about saying something but when she looked up, he didn’t seem bothered so she let herself relax against him. “I like this.” She mumbled against him. “I like you.” she yawned a little but she wanted to savor every bit of this moment.

Harper Anderson
when you wear a mask for so long, you forget who is behind it.

“..Camp.” Right. Camp. Max’s hesitation in finishing Harper’s sentence showed his feelings better than he could ever say. Max had had a rough week at camp, and it only was that way because Zach decided to make Max’s life a living hell.

Usually, Harper felt like she had some control over Max and Zach butting heads. Though that week it was more than out of her hands it seemed. And looking back that week had turned out to be way more complicated than Harper could have ever expected.

“Max” Harper laughed. “You don’t have to pay me.”

“We’re friends.”
She pushed Max lightly in the shoulder. “Let me just help you.” Harper shrugged, it wasn’t like it would be a hard task to help Max out. Though she still was trying to figure out how she would coordinate this study session. Considering Zach and Harper weren’t actually studying…

Just come with us next time, bring your book and if you have questions I’ll try to help.”

Harper looked down at her phone subconsciously. She scrolled through Twitter quickly, she should have been better. Max had turned his phone off for her, giving her his full attention. But she was distracted.

“Uh…” Harper said out loud, Max had begun to look off in another direction during the moment she had become distracted by her phone.

She reached forward lightly tapping Max on the shoulder. “Lemon seems to be looking for you.” Harper gestured towards her phone. Lemon had been spamming Twitter, looking for Max, who usually was the quickest to respond. Constantly glued to the thing. “It seems important. Why don’t you catch up with her while I run to the bathroom.”

Harper placed her half empty champagne glass down on the bar table beside them. “Watch this for me, okay?” As Max nodded she turned on her heal, heading towards the last place she saw her floppy haired boyfriend.

Yea… Giving a night to friends was turning out to seem a lot harder to accomplish than she had intended.

As she caught sight of the back of a blonde head she could have recognized anywhere, she quickened her speed. Slowing down as to not look to eggar with watching eyes all around them.

“Hey..” She said softly, placing a hand on the back of Zach’s shoulder blade. “Now who could you be dressing up for?” Harper laughed lightly, taking a step back from Zach as he instinctively reached for her hips, to pull her in.

“Not here, Zach.” She gritted through her teeth. It wasn’t that she cared if people knew they were together. It was that she still hadn’t told her closest friends, and she still wasn’t exactly sure how they would handle it. But, what she did know, is that if she didn’t tell them herself… it would be that much worse.

Don't stress, don't falter

"You heard me! Either pay for the concealer or I'm striking" She cackled, hands on her hips. attempting to sound maniacal although it just came out in childish giggles. "Don't you da-Lexei!" Jo squealed, her arms quickly fastening around his neck, so that he couldn't do anything without taking himself down with her. "Let's talk about this babe. I'm-I'm a princess remember? You can't throw a princess overboard." She attempted to make eye contact, making a little pouty face in a desperate plea. She had denied her princess status far too often, only conveniently acknowledging his claims when she wanted something from him, a fact acknowledged once or twice, but Jo was still convinced that she could convince him.

Once she was finally set down on the ground, she glanced up at her boyfriend, pretending to pout for an entire 30 seconds before dissolving into giggles. "Yeah but it's a party we should do it. Plus you've already seen me dance, I have nothing to hide anymore." She pointed out, taking his hand and leading him onto the floor.

After a while, Jo chuckled, panting a little after the activity. "You're just being nice." She pointed out, with a slight smile waving him off as he went to get drinks. He was always doing that after all. Saying things and calling her extravagant names and taking her on fun dates. Even now, she still believed that though he did love her it was just naturally in his disposition to be this way, rather than some drastic change from dating her like he frequently claimed it was.

"See you!" She called out, forcing Alexei to turn around even after he'd already taken a few steps away to notice Jo waving subtly with a huge smile. After he'd already left, Jo was fucking around on her phone where she had recieved a dm from one Liz Bishop. "I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna fucking kill him." Jo murmured, with a scowl, promptly shutting her phone off.

Arthur, Oliver

I’m not sure if we have time to do anything. He can wake up at any given minute.
Niila simply said when Arthur asked him what he wanted to do while waiting for Oliver to wake up. He didn’t say any more and suddenly it became very silent. Only noises of the cars driving past the empty road could be heard.

Niila’s gaze went from Arthur to Oliver, who was still laying down on the cold asphalt. However he didn’t lay there for too long. Soon the younger boy got up. He checked his pockets, before going to Arthur and handing the pepper spray to her. Oliver broke the silence by simply stating ‘that’s too much.’

It took Niila a moment to realize what the younger boy meant by his words. Then he noticed the red streaks coming from Arthur’s bandaged hand and noise of the blood splatters hitting the ground. “That’s not good.” Niila let out as worry started to rise up in his mind. Why hadn’t he noticed earlier?

Niila’s gaze was jumping between Arthur and Oliver. Oliver seemed confused about what to do, and unfortunately Niila felt the same. The older boy couldn’t help but repeat several ‘oh no’s’ in his head. He needed to do something, but what?

It was probably the best to stay calm. With that thought he took a couple steps closer to Arthur. “How are you feeling? Do you think you need to go to the hospital or something?” He tried to keep his voice warm and reassuring.

Ah and here I go..making them worry. God damn it..

It didn't even occur to her that she felt a little dizzy. She wasn't gonna pass out. She wouldn't show her face after that if she did, she would be too embarrassed.

Her hand was shaking because of the pulsing pain it was in the she tried to hide so well. "I..I'm okay. It just stings.." she said placing the pepper spray in her pocket and clearing her throat. What was she going to do about the mess?

"I'll go wash my hands in the bathroom and maybe it won't look so bad. I'll be right back.." She lightly bit her lip and she turned to leave. She turned a little too fast which resulted in her legs failing on her. She instinctively grabbed the person closest to her, Niila, to steady herself. Her shaking body could not be mistaken from touching him. Unfortunately.

Her gaze looked up and her face was a little more flushed than usual. That's when she realized her grip on his arms and the blood that she still had. "Oh shit..I'm sorry, yeah let me actually get cleaned up. I can bring something out for you to clean off to if you want." She said softly as she slipping away from his hold, silently crying on the inside.

She turned to Oliver before leaving. "You should sit down till I get back. Thank you again for the pepper spray" she said walking inside the SuperPlus Store and going into the woman's restroom.

Astraea Dupante
there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy....

The world began to feel like it was spinning around her, she had only been drunk a handful of times at this point and the feeling was still foreign to her. She felt giddy and warm, never wanting this feeling to end. While the tips of her fingers began to tingle.

Another waiter walked by with a tray of shots and without thinking Astraea lifted two more from the tray, handing one to Carson. “Bottom’s up.” Astraea smirked, as she threw back another shot. She wasn’t even bothering to ask what she was drinking. She just wanted to be there for her friend, bring her spirits up. Even if Carson had been the one to do the breaking up, it still had to hurt.

As Astraea and Carson downed yet another shot, they moved in closer to each other, it was hard to hear each other over all the music. Astraea instinctively wrapped her arms around Carson’s neck, leaning in to hear Carson better. “You know I’m always here for you.”

“Didn’t Yohan want to hook up with you sure that working for him is a good idea?” Astraea looked down in between them. She knew what Carson was going to say, ‘I can handle myself’. But still, Astraea worried about her. She didn’t like when Carson got hurt, even if Carson said she was okay, Astraea knew that there was no way that she could always be ‘okay’ it had to hurt sometimes.

Even if she was pretending it didn’t.

Carson changed the subject pretty quickly, and Astraea went with it. She wasn’t here to coach her friend, or tell her everything she was doing wrong. She was here to be her friend, a distraction to the real world. Astraea needed that too.

“You don’t have to tell me twice.” Astraea giggled letting her hands slip off Carson’s neck. Turning to wave one of the waiters down. “What should we get nowww…” Astraea tilted her head, rolling it to one side to face her friend.

Astraea felt her cheeks turn red, as Carson commented on her. She stuttered for a moment. “Oh.. Uh.. Thank you.” A smile grew across her lips as she tucked a single hair behind her ear. “You-you do too…”

“You always do.” She trailed off as her attention turned back to the waiter who was now in front of them. “So what would you like?”

never admit when you're wrong

Reid could tell that Lemon was nervous, and before she could run off on him he reached forward wrapping his arms around the small of her back he pulled her into his chest. He could feel her body start to melt against him. Maybe this had been right all along. They had meant to be more than just friends always.

Lemon looked up at him her head tipping back to see him. “I’m not going anywhere.” He said as she pulled out of his embrace.

As she turned the corner Reid started to say “You know I can-“ But he didn’t have a chance to finish his sentence, Lemon was already out of the room and he was left to his own devices. “Help.” He said, sighing he sat down on the couch. Even if he had visited the Pierce’s house probably close to a hundred times at this point, he still felt awkward being left alone in a room.

Reid just waited, leaning back against the couch, he kept fidgeting with his position. He didn’t know where Lemon was going to want him to sit, or how close they would be. Where was he even supposed to look right now all he could do was wait on Lemon to return. He wished that she had let him make the popcorn or something.

Lemon finally returned and Reid perked up every so slightly, even if he was comfortable in the Pierce home it sure felt awkward to be left alone. As she ran out of the room again, Reid flopped back against the couch in defeat again. Noticing that she had left the movie on top of the blanket, Reid grabbed the DVD box, plopping off of the couch and on to his knees. He placed the disc in the player, grabbing the remote he got the movie to the main menu, before settling back onto the couch.

Just in time for Lemon to return. He could only laugh as she sat next to him. He tossed an arm around Lemon’s shoulder pulling her into his side. “You’re so cute.”

The way Lemon fit under his arm, her head nestled into his shoulder. Reid pulled the blanket over the two of them. The way she fit into him just felt right. Reid had always been so confident with others, but he had never felt so comfortable with someone before. “I like this too…” Reid mumbled into her hair.

It wasn’t long before the two of them were struggling to stay awake. Each one taking a turn falling asleep and them elbowing the other awake.

Neither of them were really watching the movie at this point, it was just a battle of wits of who would be able to stay awake. Small stories being told, memories they shared. Lemon’s eyes kept fluttering shut on him, and Reid wasn’t far behind. Though he kept fighting the urge to fall asleep, he wasn’t successful for long…

Carson Hughes

Drink after drink and eventually the burning sensation of the alcohol all but disappeared for Carson as she drank with her best friend. Everything was becoming a bit more tilted and nothing was straight anymore. Carson could only roll her eyes at Astraea, “Yohan doesn’t like me like that. Sex is meaningless really. No real attachment so working for him is fine.” Sure, he was attractive but that didn’t mean much to Carson, she liked to have fun and Yohan had given that to her and now he was giving her a better job. It wasn’t really a big deal at least not to her. Plus, Hassim had reassured her about the job and somehow that had made her feel better about taking it. Now, sure maybe Carson had a wee crush nothing she couldn’t ignore and that was why she had broken the mug when he came to the shop with Dani. At first, she was shocked at the sight and then she saw Dex and somehow the mug had broken. She could ignore a crush; she was Carson the girl that most people wanted.

As the tray came around Carson grabbed two of the clear shot glasses, “No clue but I say we take these.” Carson took her shot and let herself be loose. She wished people would let her handle her problems alone, she knew how to take care of herself, how to handle her heart. She had figured it out at nineteen and everyone always seemed to worry she wasn’t doing okay. She wasn’t some crumbled mess, she just needed to let off some steam for a night and everyone was acting like it was a problem for her. Then as she was fighting with Jason over her phone, he dropped a bomb and she went still.

Had she read that right? Instead she pushed it aside and went straight to messaging Yohan. He could be the distraction she needed. A fun little friend date and all would be fine. He was still just as difficult as ever but she enjoyed him nonetheless and just wanted to spend time with him. The romance wasn’t exactly necessary. Once she had pushed Jason’s message from her mind, she went back to being close to Astraea.

The crowd had grown bigger and Carson leaned in close to her to talk, “A few more shots and then maybe we leave?” she questioned. Carson had other plans and a grilled cheese calling her name that she was more than ready to leave. She pulled back from Astraea’s ear and left their faces close just so she could actually hear Astraea or at least process an answer if she didn’t have the capability of words.

is this a dream come true or a precursor for heartbreak?
tl;dr
Diana Matthews
all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them

Although Diana was overjoyed to accompany Yohan as his date to the regatta, she still felt a little out of place. Like she was way over her head. The musician turned restaurateur had never looked at her twice when they were in high school, was it appropriate for her to think that four years later it'd be different.

It was some sort of battle that bounced in her mind, she wanted to enjoy the night but part of her was asking 'what if?' She had always admired Yohan Cho, since she was a dorky high school freshman in his music class. She'd study him from afar, albeit a little creepy, but that's how she was able to learn who he was. From across the room or when he would bless her with his presence as she worked on some music in her room. She had to mean something to him, right?

The drive to the pier was filled with a silence that say between uncomfortable and comfortable, sitting next to him reminded her of past days but she wasn't brave to say anything to him. He didn't recognize who she was when she first applied as they haven't seen each other since he had graduated high school and he never reach out, and that all made her feel so unimportant. A feeling she felt so often within her own home.

Being the youngest of five children with large age gaps in between made Diana's relevance shrink. Her older brother Daniel was already 20 when she was born, he married soon after, and the twins were born after that. Her mother was already thinking of grandchildren by the time Diana was starting preschool, not much energy was put towards her growing up. Her father definitely wanted to make Diana feel like a princess but then he died and it was so easy for her mom to send her away to her oldest brother, the sibling she felt least connected to. Daniel did try. But he was a paramedic, who had his own family to worry about, adding another mouth to feed made Diana feel like a burden. So she focused on basketball and music, stayed at practices after school anytime she could or locked herself away in her room to fiddle with the thrifted keyboard she bought after gathering as much allowance as she could. And only getting in trouble once in a while for insubordination and fights. She was doing okay in Anchor Bay.

And then Yohan left. A person she thought she had a real connection to, especially when it came to music. But he left without saying goodbye, like she was the same unimportant her mother thought she was. It took some more time but she moved on, started dating Derrick, played varsity basketball, wrote a few songs for some plays, got a scholarship. Was enjoying life.

Then her brother died.

That's when Diana made the decision that it was okay for her to run away and not come back to Anchor Bay. All her life she felt useless and forgetful. All those that made her feel some semblance of important was gone.

But here she was again standing in the very town she wanted to leave with one of those special people that made her feel the world. And when he looped his pinkie around hers and pulled her to a stop to tell her that she looked beautiful, Diana thought for just a second, maybe, coming back home was the right decision. Especially since she knew how Yohan felt about touch, but here he was letting her in, even in the smallest way. The pleasure was all mine Yohan, thanks for asking me.

Well my room is still blue, Regina said she couldn't bring herself to change the color. But that's not the only thing I hope hasn't changed.
Diana didn't see herself as different, it scared her to think that Yohan did. Because what if he had changed so much that the two of them no longer worked as they did before. He didn't even play music anymore. I continue to play music because it is the only thing that doesn't lie to me, it lets me know if I'm good, if somethign does or doesn't work. And it never leaves me. It's always there.

She pauses to look at him, looking at her. She sheepishly looks down at the ground, the softest smile on her lips as she remembers making music with the glorious man that stood in front of her. I think that if you find something that you're good at and have used as a medium for something else in your life, it will always be available to you. That's why I don't think that you've lost your talent with drumming, you replaced it with cooking. Maybe try picking. up some drumsticks again. She looks at him again, some hopeful look at her eye, thinking that maybe she could get trhough to him again and that she could bring back the musical Yohan Cho that clicked with a hurting Diana Matthews so well.

Roslyn answered Jed's greeting as a big smile curled up on her lips. Oh how much she had missed this man. Jed had been a big help, checking on her regularly after a bad break up and controlling ex. Roslyn had been sad after Jed stopped with his check ups. She was however too stubborn to ask him to continue.

Roslyn knew Jed had his own life with the divorce and everything. And she knew she couldn’t be babied by him forever. So because of that she had not contacted the man, not until recently. Roslyn had talked about her worries over her little brother, but in reality she had just used Ro as a way to start having a convo with Jed.

“Oh, just my phone.” She gave an answer to Jed’s question about what she had in her hands. Roslyn took a look at her phone for the last time before putting it on her crossbody bag. Then see took a look at the man that had just arrived. Jed and the pretty pale green eyes, handsome face and warm laugh. Troubled man with a tendency to end up in everyone's bed. To someone he could seem like a jerk, but Roslyn knew his actual persona. How caring and kind he could be, nurturing even. He really had a golden heart.

Roslyn would be lying to herself if she said she hasn't thought about being in a serious relationship. They were former fuck buddies, but she liked to think they were more than that. However since Jed was a Jed, the woman didn’t know whether he could be only loyal to her. He didn’t want to waste time loving someone and viewing him as the one if she wasn’t the one to him.

Roslyn finally stood up from the fountain’s edge which she sat on a second ago. As she stood up she made a little swirl around in her pretty lavender dress. She let out a laugh and looked again to Jed, an admiring gaze on her eyes. She laughed again, when the man complimented her saying she looked gorgeous. “Thanks, you sure know how to flatter me. You don’t look half bad yourself.” She said with a soft tone and a grin on her face.

As she stepped toward Jed, Roslyn suddenly felt how she was being pulled up to his arms. It felt completely natural. As if the physical contact was something that had always happened between them. And some time in the past it really had been so. BUt this was the present and things were different, no matter how Roslyn hoped to go back in time, back to Jed’s arms. She knew she shouldn’t accept it but she couldn’t stop it when she felt Jed’s lips quickly touching her own. She even hoped for a deeper kiss.

“Jed…” She started a hint of sadness in her voice. “Didn’t we talk about starting as friends? Which friends kiss each other?” Roslyn could help but feel that his statement made the atmosphere a little awkward. Perhaps she should have just given in and not said anything. She felt a sudden urge to move on and change the topic. “Let’s hurry to the boat. I heard they are offering free champagne.” She said, trying to force her voice to be kind and warm. As they walked to the boat, Roslyn couldn’t help but worry whether she had offended Jed and his feelings.

Astraea Dupante
there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy....

“I guess I don’t get it…” Astraea trailed off. She had a hard time understanding that sex didn’t always come after love or interest. “Don’t they say not to mix business with pleasure.”

“Never mind. Forget I asked.” Astraea really didn’t want a whole conversation about how adorable and innocent she was. Astraea wanted her first love to be a love story, something she truly never experienced. She wanted to blame it on how busy she had been in high school, going between sports, and homework club, to school. But what had she been doing since she had moved to Anchor Bay? She didn’t do sports, and hardly had homework. Only went to classes 2x a week. Astraea no longer had an excuse as to why she wasn’t dating.

She was just scared.

“Lets.” Astraea shook her head of all thoughts that clouded her, stopping her from having fun. Astraea toasted the shot glass her friend had handed her with her own. Letting the liquor burn the back of her throat as she took it in one gulp.

Astraea grabbed her friends hands and pulled her towards the dance floor. “Come on Carson, I think you need to forget about guys for the night.” As they bounced on the balls of their feet, Astraea and Carson began to let go. Forgetting about how different they had grown up. How people from such different worlds could still be such good friends. Astraea and Carson took turns twirling each other around as the alcohol took hold.

Astraea could feel her whole-body tingle, even her lips, as Carson leaned in to speak. Astraea couldn’t hear her, she was over stimulated by the music and the way her body felt fueled with so much alcohol.

“Carson.” She said quietly.

Astraea noticed how close Carson was, her light pink lips, the way her dark hair framed her face. Astraea didn’t know what she had done until she felt Carson’s lips against her own. Astraea’s hand instinctively cupped Carson’s cheek.

Quickly, Astraea pulled back, her face drained of color, her eyes widened. Her hand pulled away from Carson’s warm cheek clasping against Astraea’s face.

She quickly muttered out an “I’m sorry.” Before running off.

It took Astraea a while to find her bearings and her way off the boat. But soon enough, she was barefoot walking along the sidewalk. Possibly back to her apartment… At least she hoped so.

Why. Why had she done that?

Astraea didn’t like girls. She was straight? Wasn’t she…

Astraea pulled out her phone, sending a message to Derrick. She liked him. She had a crush on Alexi, she had never had a crush on another girl…

Yet… She had just had her first kiss… With her best friend… Who was a girl…

God why had she done that to Carson. And she ran away?! Carson was already having a terrible night, and Astraea knew she most definitely had made it worse.

TL;DR A chance meeting between a firefighting cowboy and a barefoot girl running from a same sex kiss

Rhys Price

"Ma'am... Where's your shoes at?"

Rhys was happy.

Maybe it was the three whiskey sours that Daniel had pressured him into downing as soon as they walked through the door, maybe it was the fried food that he'd eaten, and just maybe it was the blonde waitress who was eyeing him across the bar. She took his Stetson a few times, wearing it around the bar before he finally returned it to him, only to steal it again.

There were a lot of things that made Rhys happy in this moment, but even happiness was an emotion that threatened to swallow him like how waves crashed in the open ocean. He found himself going outside to breathe, finding instant relief when the gentle breeze of the night came filling into his lungs, a quiet gasp that made him open up after being confined to a tight barstool. “Ugh….” It was a quiet groan, his hat tipped back far on his head as his hands came up to rub the whole of his face to chase away the whiskey drunkenness that threatened to send him capsizing and rolling all over the sidewalk. The music in the bar thumped against the glass, it was loud enough to make the glass shudder and his brain switched to finding the rhythm just to fight the tipsy nature that was taking over.

His fingertips, rough and scarred, drummed against the soft fabric of his jeans as he found the beat of the music, recognizing the band since it was his favorite. The Score, Rhys loved pretty much every song by the group and had found time to go to a concert once when he was a teenager, basically the only concert the man had ever been to.

“Where you gonna be when the money run low…” Rhys sang to himself, feeling himself shuffle a little to the beat of the music that thumped through the glass, just vibing happily after having spent months in hell was making Rhys the happiest guy in the world.

It was pleasant till this girl bumped into him, his eyes had been closed so she actually spooked him enough to send him jumping up on his toes before his feet fell flat again. “God dang…” His hat popped off his head, his drawl was almost stupidly comically since the alcohol always made it worse, “Oh shit...I guess I was in the middle of walk...where’d my hat go…” His dark eyes looked at her for a moment before peering down at the side, “Ma’am... “ There was a frown on his lips now, “Where’s your shoes at….”

Please tell me how the fuck
I'm supposed to deal with losing you
From her troubled smile to the way Nona seemed to tense up in his arms as he pulled her close to kiss her, Dustin could instantly tell something was off. He watched her thoughtfully as she sniffed the rose he'd given her, and his heart sank as she began to speak but couldn't get her words out, her deep brown eyes welling up with tears. Once she did though, Dustin immediately regretted hearing them. They hit him hard like a punch to the stomach, knocking the wind out of him for a few seconds; it was now his turn to stammer fruitlessly, struggling to get his words out.

"Nono, wait..." Dustin finally answered, attempting to sound calm and rational even while he desperately searched his mind for what to say to reverse this. "What did I do? Let's talk about it." He paused to wipe an errant tear from her cheek with his thumb before taking both her hands in his. "I'm sure we can work it out, right?" He asked hopefully, but the look on her face and quiet resolve seemed to drain any confidence from the statement, and all Dustin could do was just keep throwing questions at her to try and wrap his head around what was happening. "What happened? What did I do?"

How did he fuck things up this bad? Just a month ago, their love felt so rock solid that nothing could shake it, and even if it took a hit or two since then, he still never saw this coming. Dustin found himself thinking back on what Ashley said about him taking his relationship for granted. As much as he denied it then he knew now it was kind if true, the way that he'd fully expected, or at least hoped, Nona would take back her words if he could only just reassure her enough.

But she didn't, no matter what he said, and Dustin was beginning to panic now. "Nono, please..." His voice cracked, suddenly choked by tears despite scrunching up his face to keep them from flowing. He swiped at them hastily with the back of his hand, too distraught to fully register how pathetic he must look blubbering in front of everyone around them. "Please don't do this," He pleaded, desperately searching her face for any hint of doubt. "I only wanna be with you, Winona. I love you." Dustin pulled her gently into a tight embrace, as if she couldn't leave him as long as he was still holding on.
