Do you know which one of us five controls the fire? Which one is the king of air? Do you know which one can do magic tricks with water? Who's got power over earth?
It is a brand new day at Heatherfield and the first day of school at Sheffield Institute, a private school that was raised from a pumpkin patch into a humble castle-like school that holds about fifteen students per class and eighty students per grade level. Mr. Weston, a jolly old man in his late sixties and also the principal of Sheffield high, was just about to finish his welcome speech although it seemed like none of the students were interested in listening.
"Sheffield Institute was founded 100 years ago by a kind farmer who turned this former patch of pumpkin field into this glorious school everyone in Heatherfield know and love! So therefore, we must all show the blah blah.." YOU are a student in this very school and your life is about to change forever.

[Only guardians and the princess may post right now, the rebel and the evil prince will post after the guardians are introduced to the Heart of Kandrakar.]
Under the midnight blues, they consummated their marriage, a finger and a thumb in holy matrimony. A young Thorin scribbled on his notepad, buckling his knees in which the pad rested over. "Do you guys think that by the time he's done we'll be rocking those togas?" He chuckles. Thorin didn't expect any answers from his friends as well as he didn't his allergies becoming a category three hurricane and blowing the entire front row up close and personal with their beloved principal.
A-choo!
It rained chicken scratch and moderately good pieces of art after that. Thorin's recent being the one about the principal being on stage and his head going Splat! He signed off with his signature goofy smile and peace sign.
A heavy yawn escaped Hector as he sat towards the back of the room, a bored expression resting on his slightly bruised face. He rubbed the bruise on the right side of his jaw and winced at the slight sting. "Cheap shot bastard," he muttered with a frown as he remembered his fight on the way to school. A couple of punks decided to mess with him since they were feeling bored, but of course they picked the wrong guy. Though Hector will admit they were heavy hitters and left a few marks on him, but in the end it was fun to send them running. There was only one issue though and that would be the fact that he, well, punched a rather sizable hole into a stone wall. It was what scared the punks enough to back off, but honestly Hector was a bit freaked out as well. He was himself a heavy hitter, but that was a bit heavier than usual. Like, a whole lot heavier. He barely dodged the police who were called about the damage, but luckily he ducked into a few alleyways before coming to school.
Hector leaned back in his seat and held up his bruised fist, inspecting it to see if he could figure out what happened and what caused that much damage. Of course he didn't and just sat quietly through the principals speech. His long, horrifically boring speech. He couldn't help but sigh. "This blows."
Wakana was sitting next to Thorin sleeping. She was awake but she past out five into the speech. Though her falling asleep was nothing new. She tended to do that in class. She suddenly woke up when she heard a blast of air and a sneeze. "Huh? What?" Wakana woke up slightly startled and looked around. "Huh? What?" She looked at Thorin. "Was that you?" She said with an eyebrow raised. "That was some sneeze." She closed her eyes again and leaned back in her chair. "Ugh will this ever end?" She opened her eyes again and glanced around. She noticed Hector who seem to be in the back. Thank God for that. She was not in the mood to deal with him. She then fell went back to sleep."
Annika had got to school late. No real surprise there. She was hoping she would miss the principle's long speech. When she actually did get to school she lingered in the halls a bit and even ran into a few others who were trying to skip out. After a bit Annika decided to sneak on in to the auditorium and see if the speech was over. But to her disappointment the principle was still going and on top of that a teacher spotted her trying to leave the auditorium and told Annika to go find a seat. Annika sighed and scanned the room and noticed Hector. She smiled and walked up and sat next to him. She placed her doll, which she had with her, on her lap and glanced at the stage then Hector. "Morning" She smiling and noticed the new bruises on his face. "Another fight huh?" She said as she poked one of them. She then wrapped her arms around her doll holding it against her. "I get hear late and skip out on purpose so I could avoid hearing this speech...I thought he would of been done by now." She said whining a little. Raider dog
If not for the whispering about close to her from Hector Crest, perhaps Izumi could have followed the example of her younger sibling and sink into a light nap, tired as she was from the day before, coupled with the lack of rest she had gotten prior to the assembly. In a way, she felt grateful for the boy's monologue of sorts, as the consequences of being caught doozing off could be potentially damaging. Not that I snore or anything . . . I think. It was best not to risk it in any case. Shifting in her seat quietly, she sought to occupy herself in some other way, as picturing skipping classes today to go surfing had ineffective results.
Unconsciously, Izumi began rotating her calves, feeling traces of their soreness from her routine last night. Of course, indulging in it required her to stretch her legas for once, drawing the attention of the classmate in front of her. One glance at her was quick to shut off any further interaction. She was not bothering him in any way, not touching the chair or his feet. Plus, he knew better than to mess with the oldest of the Starling siblings. Most of Institute at least. An interruptionwould come in the form of a tardy Annika Pike, or so she believed her name to be, forcing Izumi to fold her legs back as abruptly as she could in order to prevent an accident, in case the blonde was not watching her feet to get to Crest.
Izumi scratched the nape of her head, dismissing a wave of irritation coming to her as she followed by starting a conversation with their classmate. There was just something that got on her nerves when people started whispering next to her. Not out of insecurity, they ought to have better things to do rather than talk about her, surely. It was just a pet peeve of hers. Telling them to shush up was rather uncalled for, not to mention people of their reputation would most likely just act hostile in response. So, she endured, like any logical human being, minding her own business and proceeding with her improvised stretching session.
Hector winced as she poked one of his bruises, but smirked and chuckled as she complained about the speech. He leaned back in his seat and stretched out his arms until there was a satisfying pop. "Well I didn't even know we were doing this today so just imagine how I felt. It was like walking into a trap," he mumbled before lowering his head with a sigh. He was hoping he could get some extra sleep since he was up all night, but with the principal going on like this there was no way he could nod off. He glanced over to Annika and with s grin. "The man sure does like to talk though. I swear he just likes the sound of his own voice," he chuckled before crossing his arms. "I'm looking to skip around lunch, you in? I got some cash for some actual food. Hell, I'll let ya pick what to get if you're down," he smirked.
Celosia considers herself as a good student. She is diligent, hard working and punctual. So, as a good student, she endured the principal's long, winding speech and showed enthusiasm during the first day of school. She sat at the front row; in fact, she was the first student who arrived at the school. The black-haired girl is also holding four boxes of japanese manjuu with her and is about to do something embarassing because of her grandmother.
"-and that's all there is to know about the grand school of Sheffield Institute!" the old principal finally let out a cheerful laugh, indicating the end of his lengthy speech. Celosia stood up and started clapping along with the faculties and other students (although she is probably the only one who seems to appreciate the principal's welcome even just a bit).
Without further ado, the long-haired lass stood up with boxes in her hands and an adamant mind, refusing to back out from this simple task as her grandma have said. She walked over to a duo: Hector and Annika, as she remembers correctly and nodded at them. "Good morning, Annika and Hector." she got lost for words since she was not that close with neither of them, "Welcome back to school, erm, I.." a pause to gather her thoughts, "Hector, please meet me by the gates later. Thank you." she flushed due to embarrassment before walking away.
One down, three to go. The next batch should be easier because she considers them as her friends. She slogged to the group of Thorin, Wakana and Izumi with an awkward blush on her face. She normally does not do this. "Good morning, everyone." she smiled, "May I invite you to join my grandmother and me in the dojo for a- a tea party.." she offered the boxes of manjuu to the three of them while biting her lips hoping that she could dig a hole on the ground and hide there.
Izumi could not help herself from letting out a sigh of relief as she stood up among the other juniors to clap , even if far from enthusiastically. Now then, now that it was all over and done with, something remotely productive ought to come forth by now. It was not as if she could not understand the point of school conventions or anything of the sort, it just was as clear as day that such thing were bound to fall on deaf years for the youth. Just as she was thinking about that, a familiar voice drew her to her surroundings once again, recognizing it fairly easy. Ah, she was perhaps one of the few exceptions, a good girl at heart as she was. Only then would she take notice of her presence close by and its implications. Was she close with Crest and Pike? Seeing her so anxious to hand them the boxes told her otherwise, but given her timid nature, it was likely there was more to it...
Not the kind of person to pry into other people's affairs, she promptly walked off her spot to head towards where her sister was, frowning the moment she was close enough to see the sight of her dozed off. Greeting Thorin with a silent but polite nod, she proceeded to place a grip on her shoulder and a shake it lightly. "Wakana." She spoke up, in her serious, firm voice, one her sister was more than familiar with by now. "The assembly is over. Wake up." What followed took her by surprise, as she and the other two students were graced with the same offer she had seen been delivered earlier. Taking the box, she gave Celosia a gentle smile, expressing her gratitude and agreement with the arrangement without words. Sharing a kindred nature, she and the younger female had come to communicate perfectly without wasting words. Locking eyes with one another was enough.
Now she was all the more curious as to the meaning of the gesture. A tea party of all things...it was not all that foreign of a concept to her, given her own half-Japanese heritage. But given the fact that two other people had been invited, two she was sure were not part of Celosia's circle of close acquaintances, there was this odd tension to it. She found herself staring at the pair a few rows of seats away, awaiting their reaction. They'd better watch their next words and actions...
Annika nodded to Hector's comment about the principle liking the sound of his own voice. "Yeah I would have to agree." She said still holding the doll up against her. She then suddenly noticed the girl that was by them. What was her name? Izumi? She knew her younger sister Wakana though they didn't really talk she met Wakana through Hector. Her attention went back to Hector when he asked if she wanted to skip during lunch. She smiled, "Yeah I'm down! Especially since your paying she said laughing." Suddenly there was clapping indicating the speech was finally over. She didn't bother to follow along with the other students she wasn't really listening to it anyway. Heck she didn't even here half of it. Annika then noticed a Celosia coming their way. She seemed a bit nervous and what came out her mouth next I don't think her or Hector expected. After greeting them she asked Hector to meet her by the school gate. Annika assumed she meant after school imaging there was no way this girl would skip. As far she knew Celosia wasn't the type. When she walked of Annika noticed how flushed she looked then turned back to Hector trying to stifle her laugh. "Um what's up with that? I didn't even think you guys got along." While waiting for a reply she took her small black backpack off and carefully but her doll in it, who she named Alice, then zipped it up. . D O V E Raider dog
Wakana could hear clapping in the background though it wasn't enough to wake her up. She didn't wake up until she heard a familiar voice and felt ah and on her shoulder and was shook gently. "Huh? What?" She opened her eyes and yawned. "The speech over yet?" She looked up and noticed her sister standing over her. She must of woke her up. Wakana sat up and stretched and noticed Celosia heading their way. "Hey!" Wakana said as she waved to her. Celosia nervously asked them if they wanted to come to a tea party. I guess calling it a tea party might of been a bit embarrassing. At least she assume that's why she was acting nervous. "Sure I'm in!....You'll have some food there to right?" She said already getting hungry even though she had breakfast this morning. RANGYOKU . D O V E Winxy
Hector chuckled as plans for lunch were set. "Well don't get use to me paying, I'm just feeling generous today is all," he smirked towards Annika before glancing towards the front as a round of applause filled the room. He sighed with relief as the speech finally ended and yawned as he felt his drowsiness begin to return. Now that there wasn't any annoying voices talking his ear off he could easily fall asleep. With a crack to his neck he readied himself to push his body to his feet, but paused as a nervous looking girl with dark hair approached the two. He arched an eyebrow at the girl as she greeted him and Annika and welcomed them back to school. She paused as she seemed to lose her voice for a second before looking to Hector with flushed cheeks and asking him to meet her at the gates, without giving a certain time. He was about to ask a few things, but she ended up walking away with still flushed cheeks. "Uh..." he was a bit confused for a second and looked to Annika who was stifling her laughter. He shook his head and shrugged.
"I don't even know her name," he admitted with a smirk. It was true, he's seen the girl a few times, but never really bothered to get her name. He crossed his arms and thought for a moment before cracking a grin. "What do ya think she wants to meet about?" he asked with amusement before placing a hand on his chest and giving a dramatic look off into the distance. "Do ya think it's a confession of true affection towards me? Have I had a secret admirer this whole time? Is this finally her overwhelming feelings taking over and taking a chance?" he asked before shaking his head and laughing. His brother, Ken, has been making him watch to many romances lately. Though as he thought on it more, could that be the case? His laughter faded a bit, but shook his head and grinned towards Annika. "Probably not, not a single chick would go for this bruised hunk! To much to handle!" he laughed as he scratched the back of his head. He then rose to his feet and dug his hands into his pocket as he waited for Annika to get up with him. His usual laid back smirk he kept around Annika rested on his face, but his thoughts continued to linger on the invitation and the girl. What could she possibly want from him?
Annika looked at Hector and tilted her head to the side. "Really? You don't know who she is? She's become quite popular. She famous for beating up these bullies. Her name's Celosia." Annika watched the group that the girl was talking to now. She seem less nervous around them, guess their all friends.
"What do ya think she wants to meet about?"
Annika glanced over at him.
"Do ya think it's a confession of true affection towards me? Have I had a secret admirer this whole time? Is this finally her overwhelming feelings taking over and taking a chance?"
"Pffft hahaha" Annika started laughing with him. "You know that did come to mind the way she was blushing around you. Haha" But.....what if it was it would be amusing to watch especially if someone is confessing to this guy.
"Probably not, not a single chick would go for this bruised hunk! To much to handle!"
Annika glanced away for moment at Celosia with blank look on her face before responding. Annika raised an eyebrow at him and smirk. "Bruised hunk huh? Whoever said you were a hunk?" She stood up and stretched her arms. "It might be the fighting that scares them off you know other then that you would probably be more popular." She turned toward him with her hands behind her back and smiled up at him. "Anyway I wouldn't say your that bad to handle, I mean I've been doing pretty well at handling ya." Said winking at him then laughing. Then suddenly a thought came to her head. "Wait what if she confesses like they do in all those animes and mangas?! I would die!....Oh I am so filming this!....If it's a actual confession anyway." Raider dog
'Celosia huh?' he thought as he took a quick glance towards her as she began talking with another group of people. Honestly she didn't look much of a fighter, but he's learn not to judge on looks. With a shrug he looked back to Annika and rolled his eyes as she said he could be popular if he stopped fighting. Even if he did stop the fights Hector was confident enough to say there wouldn't be much luck. He himself keeps his more personal emotions to himself most of the time and is sure his past would drive most people away. Though as he thought this Annika turned towards him with a smile directed up at him.
"Anyway I wouldn't say your that bad to handle, I mean I've been doing pretty well at handling ya," she laughed with a wink. He arched his eyebrows a bit at the comment, a bit taken back by it. Now that he thought about she wasn't entirely wrong. Most of the people he's met here often run off the second they get to know him, but for some reason this girl sticks around. Granted she knows nothing of his past, but still, through the many fights and trouble he gets into she sticks around and even joins in. It never really bothered him really, he just let her hang around him and that was that. He never put to much thought into it. Of course they're good friends now, but Hector had a sickening feeling in his gut that if she knew anything else about him and where he's come from she would be like the rest and leave. That's why he would never tell her or anyone of the past and just leave it at that.
Hector quickly recovered from the slightly surprising comment and chuckled as she planned to record the moment if it was a confession. "Well if ya do record make sure to get my good side. Oh, and when the kiss comes make sure I look good. Gotta make the memories a good one," he grinned before gesturing towards the doors. "Come on, lets head out and get this over with. When lunch comes around we'll do our usual routine and slip out," he sated before a thought came to his mind. "What you looking to have for lunch today?" he asked as he dug his hands deeper into his pockets and walking towards the doors.
It took Celosia a short while, a goofy Wakana and a gentle smile from Izumi for her to recover from the embarrassment. The dark-haired girl smiled at their positive response nonetheless, feeling thankful that they didn't reject her offer because that would add fuel to the fire. "You'd do anything for food." she turned to Wakana with a reprimanding look just to tease her a little, "Honestly, sometimes I wonder if you and Izumi are truly sisters." she continued with a sigh. From what she has seen, the two sisters are like two sides of a coin; different still the same. She then bent her attention to Thorin, "Y-you can't say no, Thorin or I'll drag you to the dojo by myself."
Their chit-chat was interrupted by the school bell, signifying that it was time for class and an ace student never comes in late. "Come on, we'll be late!" she panicked while dashing to her classroom.
The school bell rang one last time as the teacher dismissed the whole class. Celosia quickly gathered all of her things and proceeded to wait by the school gate patiently. She couldn't help but wonder what her grandmother is planning. Not to mention that she was very specific on who to invite.
Wakana was staring at the clock waiting for the bell to ring. She had fallen asleep early but the teacher wacked her with the ruler to wake her up. "Man did she have to hit me that hard?" Wakana whispered to herself. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, brrring. Wakana jumped up and headed over to Thorin's desk. "Come on we're suppose to be meeting up with everyone at the front gates. "I wonder why she suddenly wanted have a tea party?" It was lucky this was the first day of school meant that she didn't have practice. "I wonder if sis already made it out there?" Winxy RANGYOKU
(mentioned)
Hector let out a sigh as he walked along the sidewalk that led towards the school and buried his hands into his pockets. "Man, what a drag," he complained as he rounded the corner. He was honestly frustrated that he was even heading back to school. He just wanted to head back and sleep off the grub him and Annika got, but his curiosity had gotten the better of him and dragged him back towards the school. A heavy yawn escaped him as he rubbed his tired eyes and frowned. The past couple of days have been a struggle for him to get any sleep. He's been having the same nightmare every night and couldn't stay asleep for longer than an hour. He can't remember the nightmare exactly, but he always awoke with the slight scent of gunpowder in his nostrils. He shook his head and sighed. It would pass eventually, he just had to keep going until it does. Soon enough Hector arrived at the schools front gates and spotted Celosia waiting. He made sure to catch her attention and gave a nod as he approached her. "Yo," he simply greeted before leaning up against one of the gates pillars. "So, what's this about?" he asked, wanting to get straight to the point. His thoughts still lingered on that this was some kind of confession, but honestly he could be wrong.
"...I think that about covers it. I have to go now.""Ah, yes, thank you, prez!" Izumi gave the boy and the rest of his friends a nod while assembling her belongings, leaving the room with a soft "excuse me" before heading out of the school building. She would not admit it to anyone but she had yet to get fully accostumed to the idea of being elected class president that same year, with classmates going so far as to already call her by that. Of course, in this boy's case, she took it as a playful remark. It would certainly take some time to get used to it, she mused as her brisk pace would lead her to the entrance in a matter of minutes. Bidding goodbye to other faces she'd recognize on the way, she found herself to be the second to arrive at the appointed location. The eldest Starling was somewhat taken back by the presence of Hector Crest by Celosia's side, being the first to arrive of all things, but she was quick to dismiss it. She should not be so quick to judge just because the guy had a certain reputation among the students. She barely knew him too, it was injust to assume he would delay this meeting or be forced to come along. Thus, she greeted both with a quiet wave, promptly directing her attention towards the crowd leaving the school, seeking a certain ginger among them, while pulling out one of the earbuds.
Tyler yawned and stretched his arms before glancing up to Wakana and sighing. He rose from his seat and ruffled his hair. "Sheesh, this is why I don't make plans after school," he muttered before burying his hands into his jackets pockets. "Well if we're going then lets go. I may not be so pumped for this, but I guess I'm also a little curious as to why she invited us to a tea party," he admitted, a small frown on his lips as he remembered past tea parties with his sisters when he was young. The dresses, lip stick and stuffed animals. He shuttered at the memory and shook his head as he walked with Wakana out of the class and through the halls. It was quite between the two, but finally he spoke up, which was rare for him to do. "So, what do ya think this is about?" he asked, glancing to her with a bored expression. Though he knew she knew just as much as him he asked the question to kill the silence between the two.
Celosia was started when she heard a voice coming from her left which was not the school's direction. She turned and realized that it was none other than Hector who probably skipped class since she's the first one who arrived by the gate and she didn't saw him exit the campus. The dark-haired female watched him lean against the gate's pillar and she felt the urge to reprimand him for cutting classes however she was also conscious that the boy went back party because of her. The girl composed herself, "W-well," yet she failed since she doesn't really know how to invite a person she barely knows to hang out with her and her friends in her house, "I would like to say, erm, that I would like t-"
Izumi's sudden appearance startled her for a brief moment; nonetheless, her face lit up with relief. She felt thankful that at least one of her friends are punctual (to her standards) and she would no longer suffer from further awkwardness. "I am thankful that the both of you are here on time." she gave them a a short bow while she silently scold Tyler and Wakana in her mind, "I will tell you all what's going on once everyone is here."
"Well come on." Wakana grabbed her things and they both walked out of the classroom. It was a quiet between them as they walked. Not that Wakana really cared. But then Tyler spoke up.
"So, what do ya think this is about?"
"Heck if I know. Maybe she just really wanted to hang out with everyone you know? I mean we are friends." When they made it outside Wakana jogged over towards them. "Hey guys looks everyone...is here.....uh why is he here?" Wakana said pointing to Hector clearly not happy to see him. She looked over at Celosia. . D O V E Raider dog RANGYOKU
'Wait, what?' Hector asked himself as another girl approached them. Again he had no idea who she was and just assumed she was a friend of Celosia coming over to say hello, but frowned slightly as she hung around. He mentally chuckled as the thought of a confession went out the window. 'Great, wonder what kind of group she's getting together,' he thought as he dug his hands deeper into his pockets with an impatient and expression. After a moment though that expression quickly changed to slight annoyance as a familiar voice came towards the group. With a heavy sigh he looked over to see none other than the almighty Wakana. He rolled his eyes as she questioned why he was here. "Hell if I know, princess kill joy," he muttered before glancing over to see Tyler. He narrowed his eyes and balled up his fist within his pockets. "Oh great, we got this clown here to?" he grumbled and pointed to both him and Wakana. "Hey, it's thing one and thing two!" he mocked, his eyes narrowed towards them as it was clear he wasn't happy with them being here, though his unwelcoming glare was mostly towards Tyler.
Tyler O'Neal
Tyler rolled his eyes at Hectors comment and rested a hand on his hip. "I'm with Wakana, why is he here?" he asked Celosia with a slight frown. Tyler was a bit annoyed that Hector was here and kept his eyes pointed directly at him, just in case he wanted a fight. The two have never gotten along, hell, their first time meeting each other was through a fist fight. Their fight was broken up before either of them could win, but it was clear Hector was still a little sour over it. As he waited for Celosia to explain Tyler and Hector glared towards each other, the tension so great between the two that bolts of lightening could escape their gazes and clash between the two.
This was not turning out so well. Celosia held back a grin when she saw Wakana and Tyler approaching their small grin and she was about to get angry at them for being late but then Hector beat her to it. She panicked for a few seconds before regaining herself and stepping up between the duo and Hector, "Please stop." she said with a stern voice and an admonishing look. The girl let out a sigh and put a calming (really) warm hand on the two males and sending a look at Wakana asking her to deal with it even just for a bit. She also turned to Izumi in hopes that she'll help to detonate the situation.
Celosia turned to Hector, the only one who doesn't know what's going on yet, "Please join us at the dojo." she said with a short bow. Although the invitation was polite and all, there was this firmness in her tone that says he doesn't really have a choice.
Celosia's house was a few minutes of walk from the school and beside it is a japanese-style dojo which stood out among the rest of the structures like a sore thumb. It's inside was spacious and full of tools and equipment for three arts: kyudo, judo and kendo.
An old woman could be seen swinging a wooden bokken (a sword used for Kendo) a few steps away from a kotatsu (Japanese table) with tea sets settled nicely on top of it. "Grandma!" Celosia perked up and approached the old woman, "That's bad for your back!" she warned and tried to take the bokken away from the older woman. The grandma simply laughed before she noticed the other teenagers present in the room. A pleased smile immediately tugged on her lips as her eyes scanned each of them one by one, nostalgia present in her brown orbs.
"Oh my!" she exclaimed, "The heart sure knows how to pick its guardians!" she clapped her hands once and sat beside the kotatsu. Celosia urged the others to follow her and sit with the old woman. "You may all call me Baba." she began with a warm smile casually, "I am pleased that my dear Celosia has made some fine friends."
"Baba.." the red-faced Celosia whimpered.
"Please enjoy the tea and the cookies!" the jolly grandma smiled before she slid a red box on the table.
"What's in the box, Baba?" the dark-haired wondered, internally hoping that it's not her baby pictures!
"Let me tell you a story that I believe has a special meaning for the five of you."
"Please stop." Celosia whispered underneath her breath.
Baba hushed Celosia while the room magically turned dark and four small versions of unknown planets circling a bright sun materialized behind the old woman. "The universe was once a single kingdom ruled by good but evil began to take root. A veil was created to isolate the evil kingdom of Meridian from all other worlds." on cue, a dark planet drifted to the center, blocking the sun and spreading darkness to the other planets beside it, "Without the protection of the veil, every world including Earth is in terrible danger."
Celosia gasped.
"Meridian was overtaken by a powerful tyrant called Luther Onyx. He is not the rightful heir to the throne and they believe that the rightful owner of the throne is somewhere here on Earth." her tone turned more serious, "Portals opened in the veil, doorways through which evil can cross two worlds."
Baba paused to smile and eye each other one by one, "There are people called guardians whose job is to close these doors using their powers." she snapped her fingers and everything returned to normal. She let out a good-hearted chuckle, "I became a guardian when I was your age. Now, the duty is passing to your generation." she nodded at them.
"Oh wow, look at the time. Grandma, I think they need to g-"
"Settle down." Baba swished her finger at the group before she opened the red box and pulled out a pink orb necklace. She raised it so that everyone can see it, "This is the Heart of Kandrakar which contains the elementary forces of nature." she grinned, "In the last few days, you all had unusual experiences, right?" she wasn't really asking because she knew it's true.
Celosia gulped nervously while her hands fidgeted with a fortune cookie, trying to break it open.
"Izumi, you may have noticed that water started acting around you strangely." Baba smiled at her warmly.
She then turned to her own granddaughter with a grin, "My dear Celosia, you've always liked playing with fire, didn't you?" the said girl's hand accidentally bursted into flames with a quiet shriek, burning the slip of paper she got from the cookie. Baba turned to Izumi, asking for her help with the matter at Celosia's hand.
Baba bended her attention to Tyler, "Tyler, you must have witnessed your power over air."
"Hector, you harness the power over Earth." she urged him to try his power on a pot of growing plant acting as the centerpiece of the kotatsu.
There was a good long pause before she flung her attention to Wakana. Baba seemed to chuckle a bit as she let go of the Heart of Kandrakar midair and it started floating. It circled the group once before it stopped in front of the orange-head, glowing a hot pink.
"One of the five binds the others. With the heart of Kandrakar, unites them and magnifies their powers. Wakana, the Heart has chosen you to be the leader of the Guardians!"
Celosia was a gaping fish by that moment as she stared at her grandma in disbelief.
