Realistic or Modern W I N T E R L I G H T (Closed)

Giovanna had been struck speechless when she saw the antiquated castle. This was the first time she saw such a well preserved historic site. The locals must have had an immense sense of responsibility towards their own heritage or this castle was just too cold and isolated to be bothered defacing. She knew the latter was true.

It took all her willpower to resist running around like a toddler and explore the castle herself. That was a sure way to get lost and, considering the formidable size of the keep, she might not be found at all if she ever got lost. So, with self-security in mind, she stuck with the group.

Soon, rooming arrangements were distributed and she wasted no time in laying down her stuff. The rooms were small in comparison to the rest of the keep, but it was still much bigger than she was used to. Giovanna could bring her entire extended family and with a bit of smart placement, they could all fit here. Now unburdened, she removed her trench coat, revealing the plain form-fitting teal shirt she wore under it and took to attempting to socialize.

By some happy coincidence, a round of alcohol was being had at the second floor. God knows I could use some warmth, she thought, smirking subtly. It was a horrible excuse to drink. Everyone knew Giovanna was one of the heaviest drinkers in AU. The fact had come as a shock to her peers as it betrayed their first impression of her as a proper and noble woman. Which she was, by all means. She just loved to drink irresponsibly. A sort of escape from her normal behavior.

"Oh, thank goodness. I thought I was going to die of thirst in this place," she said to the others sitting round the fireplace, voice jokingly pleading, as id she actually was going to die of thirst. "Mind giving this humble alcoholic a bottle?"

Jessica laughed her ass off over Vick's display of acrobatics, "You'll have to do better than that if you wanna party with me muscleman." Listening to, what's his face? Greg? Go on a lecture about horror movies soured her good mood considerably, and so she decided to say something. "You know what? I think you're right." She said extravagantly, "In fact, I think I hear something right now." She mockingly cupped a hand around her ear, "It sounds like, a choir, of a thousand angelic voices telling you to go fuck yourself."

She was about to say more when the Italian chick spoke up, wordlessly she passed her a bottle before turning back to Greg, "And what sort of fucking lightweight gets buzzed after one beer?"

the minute Joseph received the sleeping arrangement and Wilka had left, he went into a full sprint away from the group and for the lab, stuffing the sleeping arrangement haphazardly into his pocket, only to see it get blown out and onto the ground.

He begrudgingly left it on the floor and kept moving, more then aware he could simply get it later.

Entering the lab, he grimaced a bit at its....unorganized state. Sighing, he went over to the Temp Controlled storage container and after making sure it worked properly and was plugged in, set it to the proper temperature and slid in his 'friends' he had brought from his own, less reliable but good enough heater in his backpack.

“there you go buddies, stay warm ok?” he chuckled to himself, before pulling up a seat next to the device and sat, staring at his friends, who were simply bacteria colonies, in the red light of the container.

“days been pretty damn annoying, this lot im with seems more unhinged then a door off its frame, fucking gits the lot of them.” he blinked. Git? Not a word he used often, all this yelling must be rubbing off on him.

Sighing, he patted the top of the container, before remembering his new sample and slipping it into the container aswell.

“ill talk to you guys later, night Nathaniel, Tiffany, Sir Rumpus, Samantha, and of course George.”

with that he gathered the rest of his stuff and left the lab, turning the lights off behind him ,and promising to whatever god lived in the valley he was going to reorganize that hell hole of a lab.

He supposed he would have to head back to the main room, and hope that his paper was still somewhere to be found, knowing this lot someone had probably thrown it into the fireplace by this point.

He sighed at that, but he would have to live with having to possibly interact more with this group, he just hoped someone attempted to make it pleasant for once, and that someone not being that prat grey or the whore jessica, if he had any favor left to spend with the universe.

Grey looks at her confused."Oh I'm sorry I wasn't aware you only brought a few beers. But still some people only need a buzz to do something incredibly stupid. As for those angels your hearing you must be closer to death that I thought might want to watch your baclk," grey said unintentionally sound cold and walked around to find a good spot to get comfy.

Jeff set up the bedroom, leaving the bags on their beds. There was one large dresser, and he neatly put away all the clothes. It sounded like some sort of party down there. He enjoyed Duster's music and wished that he could go down there, but something would happen that would not go in his favor. He just didn't feel like being around all these people. So instead he opted to sit in the large stairway. Close enough to hear the music, but far away enough so he wouldn't be bothered as he sketched adventures.

Hayden grinned sheepishly at Jessica's jab, those pearly whites of his contrasting against his thick, untamed beard. Idly wiping some of the dribble out of his beard, he sipped the beer again, offering a roll of his eyes at the on going spat between Jessica and the snob.

"Alright, children. You."

He points to Grey. "Shut up."

"You," he addresses Jessica, "try to be nice."

"And you," he raises his own bottle towards Giovanni, "cheers."

"Oh please," Jessica said as she took another swig from her bottle, "Even down in the AU Archeology labs everyone knows I don't play nice. I bite." She said, tipping the bottle back and finishing the remaining half off in one long gulp.

"And you couldn't afford to make me shut up," grey said to hayden. He walked off looking for something of amusement. He decided he'd find the most quite and secluded place possible.

With a single movement of her palm, she managed to uncap the bottle. It was an old trick taught to her by one of her numerous uncles from Sicily. She then raised her bottle in response to Hayden's gesture.

"Saluti," the blonde said warmly, proceeding to down her own bottle, almost finishing it in one shot. A groan of content escaped her. Czech beer was better than she thought. Sweeter than the liquor at home, that much was certain. The warmth she had been missing finally coursed through her. "Good stuff."

Grumbling at the excess of even more bickering among the group, Joseph chose carefully who he approached, begrudgingly walking over to Williem, if he remembered correctly, and his little group who appeared to be enjoying one of theirs musical skills.

“hey, uhh,Williem right? mind if I take a look at your room sheet? I...misplaced mine, think I was supposed to be somewhere on the second floor though, didn't look at it to much. Nice music by the way, uhh, Duster? Right?” he said, obviously nervous.

Hayden tried to stare a hole through the back of Grey's head, but to no avail. The guy had spunk, and he respected that much, but his attitude warranted far more than the middle finger Hayden rose to Grey's back.

Now it was his turn to down the contents of the bottle, belching into an enclosed fist. Kneeling down to his bag, he rummaged through it, before glancing up at Giovanni and Jessica, and with a smirk that would make Loki jealous of the shenanigans it implied, Hayden held up a bottle of vodka.

"Looks like we'll be able to keep this party started," he said, turned his head over his shoulder towards some of the others, "everyone else is taking a victory shot too. We made it to Poland in one piece, which is incredible for a group of rag tag college kids."

"In the flesh! Than-" He responded quickly, not wanted to be rude. He would've said more, but he winced as as his finger accidentally overshot the place on the think, coppery string, giving him a painful chord-burn. Which is like carpet burn- only worse.

Licorice-Rope-Snake didn't have as much distaste for the floor now, so he slowly slithered down onto the carpet. Duster continued to play, but kept out a watchful eye. A fear of snakes was prominent with some people. Licorice wasn't venomous, nor did he bite unless severely provoked, but nobody except Jeff or himself.

Grey saw the snake and bent down to play with him."Hmm what a interesting pet I do love reptiles there cold blooded and tend to be venomous. Reminds me of myself," Grey said cracking what seemed to he a joke."What kind of snake is this,"Grey asked. (@Diminium )

Duster finished off his improv session and took a break. "Licorice is a Hypo Bloodred corn snake, nonvenomous. They usually have have darker red splotches, but he's pretty consistent throughout."

Rope Snake flicked his tongue in and out multiple times, trying to analyze all the new scents.

"Damn, this Italian broad knows how to drink." Jessica shot off a mock salute at the blonde. Then Hayden brought out the vodka, which Jessica promptly took form him, examining the label before popping the cap and taking a sniff. "Good stuff." She commented, "You might get to party with me tonight after all."

Grey picked up rope snake and gave him his own cold blooded smile."I have to say its very cute where ever did you get him?" Grey asked now deciding to be more friendly. He could wait to be alone. For now he would talk to Duster.( @Diminium )

Joseph grimaced and turned to the one he was pretty sure was named Hayden, giving him a polite wave off.

"Yeah no I don't drink, and keep that away from the lab if your don't mind."

Noticing grey had joined the current group, he frowned at William and shrugged "uhh, you know just get it to me later." And walked off to stand off away from the party, towards the kitchen.

It was going to be a long night he thought.

Hayden frowned at Joseph, approaching him. "You sure, man? You're Joe, right"

Hayden stood, flanking Joseph, allowing a few seconds of silence to pass before giving Joseph a friendly pat on the back of his shoulder.

"Suit yourself. I'll make sure it keeps clear of the lab."

An eyebrow was then cocked at Willem. "How about you? Have a drink with us?"

(( Edit: Sorry, don't know why I had it in my head Willem was playing instead of Duster. ))

Joseph grimaced, not exactly one for 'friendly pats' on the shoulder.

"Joseph. Not Joe, if you would be so kind, though yes thank you for the consideration."

As the man walked away, he took the moment to simply slip away and into the kitchen, hoping the party simply would not try to follow him out of hunger.

((No prob)) :)

"Interesting story. I got him from some kid off the side of the road. He was probably no older than me. Just selling snakes. I payed five dollars and voila!"

All these people and alcohol... Maybe one wouldn't hurt. It's been a while...

Duster put away his bass and told the group he'd be back. He managed to get (drag) it up the stairs, but he nearly tripped over Jeff at the top.

"What're you doing up here?" He asked, tilting his head with concern "It's practically a party!"

"Exactly. I'm just... Not interested." he muttered, shutting his notepad. "I'm gonna go to bed. I'm tired." He stood up and simply turned around. And then he was gone. He clearly was a bit upset about the trip not exactly going the way he wanted it to.

Duster finished hauling up his Bass, where he lovingly placed it against the wall. Jeff was already in his pajamas, sitting on his bed and bent over his toolbox. Duster walked over and simply grabbed the large lighter, before heading over to the fireplace. Jeff had stocked it well with wood, and a few seconds later, it was ablaze.

"Goodnight. But I know you don't sleep, so have fun inventing!" He called, closing the door behind him as he stumbled down the stairs in an attempt to run.

His arm shot up, and he raised a finger. "One beer over here!" He called, Rope Snake slithering back up his leg.

"Hmm I might get me a reptile one day they have so much charm," he said walking into the hallway now looking for somewhere to be alone with his thoughts and notebook. He observed everything in the house pictures the decor everything and wonder about each little detail. Why had they gone with this color why was this that way. He was so fascinated not by the house itself more by the choices the people who build the house made.

Quisley Hart.

The minnasotan had taken the lead, as they moved out into the snow, striding along beside Wilkas. The snow crunched beneath his boots, satisfying and somehow very nostalgic. He shook his head to clear it, and muttered to himself about how this would be his home for the next few months - might as well enjoy it. It wasn't too much different from home afterall...well, unless you counted the fact that the villages built walls around themselves.

He gaped at the pallisade for a moment, his brain going through a series of 'what ifs' that could explain exactly why they had the wall up. Wolves? Bears? Maybe the valley wasn't safe from crime - he didn't know. But, with his determination to stalk these woods for game, he was sure he'd find out. He actually laughed at Wilkas's simple. "Think they've got werewolves around these parts, eh?" Thomas asked, taking his customary place at Quisley's side "It'd be a right fine thing for you to hunt, Quiz". The larger man smiled at the nickname, reaching out to pat his friend's shoulder.

"Left my cross at home, which was silver, so we're probably not gonna be hunting any werewolves anytime soon buddy. I can take you out for hunting in general though". Thomas's eyes lit up - they'd never gotten around to going hunting back in Maine, and ever since he'd met the burly American he'd wanted to - Quisley knew that. The scot talked about it often enough. "Lets keep going. I wanna see this castle we've heard so much about".

Another slow trudge through the white blanket that covered the earth let Quisley fall back into his own thoughts. He barely registered the crossing of the rickety old bridge - he'd seen worse - but he stopped for a minute when he heard Gregory's comment about the name of the river. "Show some respect" He grunted, carrying on after Wilkas. He'd seen too much blatant ignorance towards both people and nature through his life - he didn't enjoy it what so ever.

Thomas McMillan

When they came to the castle, Thomas looked up at the edifice with an eye that was used to seeing such things. He grunted, and smiled "No matter how many of these beauties you see, you never, ever get sick of them" the scot nodded appreciatively to the groundskeeper, then crossed his arms to wait for the door to be open. The castle wasn't the only thing he was appreciating - ever since they'd started off on their trip, he'd had a few surreptitious glances at Giovanna - he'd not met her before today, and he had to admit - she was stunning.

Of course, he had learned from Quiz that she was some sort of Italian nobility - royalty, the big guy had heard. The Scot wasn't sure what to think; all he really knew about her was that she was pretty. And that she liked to drink. That second one was a quality he always enjoyed in pretty much anyone - even Jessica, volatile as she was, got his respect for how she could hold her alcohol.

When they finally got inside the gate, he glanced up at the keep and smiled ruefully. Having always wanted to live in a castle, this was a bit of a dream come true. And god knew that Thomas had very few of those to go around. As soon as they were inside he pulled off his outer jacket and gloves, and spoke to Quisley again "We'll be in the top of the South-west tower, aye?" the question was softly asked, but his friend nodded

"You mind setting up? I wanna see if this place ha-" Quisley was cut off by Jessica's offer of alcohol. He sighed, and patted Thomas's shoulder "You're gonna drink, right? Well, after you're done, wanna set up a fire in our room and stuff?"

The Scotsman nodded, his eyes having lit up at the mention of drink "Sure mate, I'll take your stuff up as well.Just leave it here" He patted his own suitcase and backpack.

When Quisley left, off to go find the armoury, Thomas meandered over to Jessica and snagged a beer from her quickly diminishing collection. A "Thanks" was punctuated by the swift popping off of the cap, and he raised his bottle to the redhead, and anyone else who was drinking. Barring Grey. That pretentious wanker, Tom thought, could go fuck himself.

He saw that people were breaking off, having their own conversations - and as the sound of Duster's bass filled the room, he started to hum his own tune, sidling up next to Giovanna. "Now, a beauty like you drinking swill like this?" He grinned at her, tapping the side of his bottle "We should see if Wilkas has anything more fitting in his wine cellar. Though, that" (@Lazy Rocktime) And he raised his voice to catch Hayden (@Aevum) - now 'vodka guy' in his head's attention "is far, far better!"

There were a few polish words he had learned before coming here. Mostly cursewords, and ways to get people to leave you alone. But it always helped to be able to drink in style. "Na Zdrowie" and with that, he slammed back the czech beer, knowing full well that there wasn't enough alcohol in the room to get him drunk - nevermind how much people were willing to share.

WILLEM

The socializing was being ruined a bit by grey's butting, his flapping pretentious mouth made it hard to carry out any kind of conversation or even listening to dusters's music, this in turn led him to making the decision that instead of punching him, repeatedly, it would be a better decision to use the excuse that was talking with Joseph to just go away.

"Yo guys, I think I'm gonna have a look around in the kitchen, if you want some snacks just have what i put out here, see you guys tomorrow."

He had started strolling into the kitchen looking around for this scientist dude

"Yo dude you here? I got some snacks and coke if you want some." he said in a loud enough voice for Joseph to have heard as he sat down and unpacked said snacks with coke and proceeded to poor two cups.

EMMANUEL

"Hey there, i heard someone say vodka, I'll have some." He said as he returned to his buddy Jessica making sure to sit next to her, so as to clarify to hayden whats what.

"Considering how limited our supply will be, how about we mix it with some coke, I've got plenty of that here." he proceeded as he prepared a 1,5 L bottle of coke.

Joseph,Kitchen, Talking to Willeim

Joseph was slumped against the kitchen counter, simply well, trying to ignore the sounds of the damn party, when Williem entered and asked him about refreshments.

“oh, uhh sure, thanks.” he replied and walked over, taking the out handed cup and a handful of chips.

He wasn't exactly the best at socialization, so the silence went on a bit as the both stood snacking, til, strangely, Joseph made the first move for conversation.

“so...what you majoring in anyways? Dont think ive seen you around much, must not be too science-y if you never visit my wing of the university, uhh, not that theres anything wrong with that, of course, just, err.” Joseph scratched at the back of his head, feeling like the fool he was.

“yeah....i dont talk to people much, I should get that out of the way now I think.”
