Still playing around with ideas, but would it be possible for my character to be a Progeny child of a heretic who was taken to one of the schools and raised there? I'm not quite sure what job he grew up to have, since I'm not certain if assassin or spy would be a viable option for him. demonology

If you’re planning to write an OC, that could work! It’s fairly common to see Progeny of families who followed Him’s Children/another religious doctrine that wasn’t Elysblessed. I don’t know if assassin/spy would work necessarily, but it wouldn’t be outside of the possibility. I could see them being employed by the Knighthood as a military holy figure or like a chaplain.

I’m thinking of his miracle being one where he can manipulate shadows to cloak himself, so would it be possible for his position in the military to be one of reconnaissance and stealth?

I am could see it. I would just consider that Progeny are generally worshiped as religious figures so it would be a bit out of the ordinary to have one risk their life (that’s partially why the Project has been kept secret as well lol). But their military connection would also make sense of why they’re on the Project team, so go for it.

Great ^^ was debating that he was too young to really remember his parents and was thus a bit brainwashed to believe that the empire saved him from the heretics and now he feels like he owes them.

Or the opposite end of the spectrum where he very much remembers his parents deaths and he’s biding his time until he can get revenge.

Okay so I really like the potential of what I read on tumblr about a Researcher for the EEG Nanobots (I've been reading through stuff)
But I also really like the setup for Prudence. It's more me debating if I could do an OC justice within the estabished world.

I was curious if there was more information about Portalie, Espiritú and Redharth

In general, Espiritú is a province that emphasizes conformity and unity. The Empire subsidizes much of the aspects of Espiritú life due to the province’s relationship with the Empire. That’s also why it’s such a dystopian and exclusive place to live — in terms of the Empire, short of being Nobility, you are best off being from Espiritú.

PORTALIE:
— the Capitol of Espiritú
— the headquarters for the Egressian Security and Investigation Detail (ESID), which are sponsoring/the govt institution associated with the Project
— it was one of the first Tai cities that was colonized during the Civil War, and it is thus one of the largest and most advanced areas in the world. Its design was the basis for the rest of the province. Essentially, there’s an interior, high-rise city space that has public transportation that takes people to and from their sub-division homes that encircle the city. Part of its construction, even during the Civil War, was done so with the intention of deterring attacks on the urban area because an oppositional force has to travel through the civilian areas to reach important institutions such as the ESID HQ.

REDHARTH:
— a city structured similar to Portalie but on a much smaller scale and more of a college town.
— is the home to the only other University in the Empire and that is the Umaurian Educational University (UEU). It is an institution that was created/founded hundreds of year ago, well prior to the creation of the Empire. It was a point of Taian pride. It was created by the scholars of the Redharth Library, which is what the city is named after. However, the library no longer exists, and any sense of Taian history has been removed from the UEU except through the scant, state-subsidized scholarships that were instituted by a more liberal Chief Officer.
