Roland looked confused as he watched them all go.

Helena stopped at the gate and looked back at them, "The volt is only 15 miles east of here, but we will probably run into trouble before then. Just to be clear, I'll stay in the middle. I might be a Dier, but I don't really have much in the way of fighting. When we get in, the volt is timed, the gate stays open for five minutes, to open it from the inside you will need a pattern, which I know. There are four levels that was have to get through. Each level has a trap that I can disarm, but that is timed to reactivate withing 15 seconds. As long as we pass through the arch of the level, the trap will stay inactive in our presents, unless someone that didn't deactivate it comes along and then we are all going to get in trouble. So, stay on the level that you were last with me and stay away from anyone that might follow. What we are getting is important, but you don't need to know what it is, and I won't tell you. No one knows the volt but the Head of this Tower and he has entrusted me with the information but I can not tell you what it is." she took a deep breath, "So, who is the leader of all of you?"

Nicoli listened intently. As she finished speaking he smirked some. "I am." He said. He was already forming how his team needed to be and the best position for Helena where she could move quickly but be protected.

Helena nodded, "You should stick with me then." she stated, before she took a deep breath, before she turned to the gates, opening. "Let's go, then." she said as she started to leave.

Kyle looked at Nicoli, "Might be a good time to get to know her." he pointed out, "Maybe you won't end up in an argument, like when I met Azra."

Nicoli smirked a little as he looked to Kyle but nodded. There was something to be said for having this opportunity to meet his betrothed. "Keep fighting formations." He said to Kyle, then looked to the others so he knew they heard him. Then he glanced to Eric. "Stay near me still, do as I say." He said a little more serious. Then he looked to Helena. "You and I sticking together will be important too. If something goes wrong please do as I ask for your safety." He added. Even if she wasn't his betrothed, She was not a warrior like the rest of them and she was needed to make this work.

Helena smirked, "If you think I am going to let myself be in the way, you are kidding. I plan to stay as close as I can to you. I'd like to come home in one piece. I still have other matters to deal with." she stated, the others nodded at his orders and Eric sighed, following Nicoli's lead.

Nicoli smirked. "Then stick with me and I guarantee you'll come home in one piece." He assured her. He had his signature smile but he was being entirely serious. He would protect her and Eric both.

Helena looked at him suspiciously, "You seem a little too familiar with females." then she smirked, "I'm not really that easy to charm, but it's fun to watch you try." she stated.

Nicoli grinned. "Whoever said I was trying to charm you?" He asked playfully, winking at her just as playfully. "You'll learn I'm just charming in general." He added in mock defense.

Helena looked at him for a moment before she smirked, "You will understand that charming doesn't work on every girl, like me." she pointed out, before she looked around, "We should reach the volt in good time."

Nicoli smirked. "We should. We're moving quickly." He agreed. Then he glanced to her. "I can manage chivalrous if you'd prefer that. Can't say I do the bad-boy persona all that well." He teased.

Helena looked at him side ways, "Best to keep it business, I am betrothed and I am sure that he wouldn't like someone else trying to charm his way, even in a friendly manner." she shrugged, "After all, I hear your warriors can get pretty protective over your mates."

Nicoli smiled some. He was surprised to find that he was glad she seemed so serious about it, whether she knew or not that he was her betrothed. "Yes, we can be." He said, studying her and then smiling again as he looked forward. "I hear you get to meet your betrothed soon. You must be glad for the opportunity." He said.

Helena sighed, "I don't know if that would be the right way to describe how I feel about the matter." she stated, "I am not a warrior and he is, my uncle told me that he is a very good fighter, but to be honest...I'm a Science, fighting is something we don't really take seriously. I don't think I will have anything in common with him and we might not even like each other." she sighed, "So glad isn't really the kind of word I would use."

Nicoli looked to her a little more seriously, maybe she really didn't know who he was. "Helena we do respect our Science. We all work together. I know that's not quite the same with a betrothed, but I would think common ground could be found with this guy if nothing else." He hesitated a moment, he truthfully wasn't sure what he thought about it all. He'd always expected the betrothal and didn't question it until after spending time in the human world. "You're given a chance to meet him, maybe that will help. It's not an opportunity most get." He added a little gentler.

Helena smirked, nodding, "Maybe, but being a Dier and a Science is rare enough. That is probably not something he would get. I mean, most Diers are fighters at heart. I would be lucky to get in a shot if I was attacked, before they killed me. I may be a Dier, but when it comes to fighting, my animal abilities can only help so much and I don't have the skills your female does." she pointed to Julia, "She is a true Dier, as must would think, someone that knows what to use and when. I'm guessing she is a level five Dier, right? One that can use more then one ability at a time?"

Nicoli nodded. "She is. But she was raised like that and she followed her instincts. Same as you did." He pointed out, looking to her. "You had said yourself the males at my tower tend to be protective of their mates...is it possible he might be okay with just being protective of you. You'd be safe at the tower as a Science." He said.

Helena smirked, "Yeah, I guess, but at the same time, I can't fight but I don't like being worried about all the time. I don't want to learn to fight either." she sighed, "It's different in my tower, we don't worry about much and all the other towers help us a lot, while we do our work. Your tower is always in one fight or another. Even when you are at peace you are training to fight something and your peace rarely lasts."

Nicoli gave a sheepish smile. "We can't seem to help ourselves sometimes. But most of us like that we can help other towers and protect our own. I know of some who wish fighting wasn't so focused on. It's a skill like any other, one that's pushed at our tower like Science is here. It's not bad, just different." He wasn't sure if he was defending his tower or just kind of talking. He was curious to know what she thought. He just hoped she wouldn't be upset when she found out who he was and he didn't tell her.

Helena looked at him and smirked, nodding, it was true. Their tower and her's were not that different. if nothing else, there was always the fact that each tower helped the other, some more then others, but they always helped. "Yeah. It's just different when you know it, rather then when you have to go and live there. I mean, technically, we could come back here, but my uncle made it clear that this guy is pretty popular in the tower and is good on missions. It wouldn't be fair to expect him to come to this tower, when fighting is his main skill and the worse that has happened is this rebel group that we use other towers to help stop. It would be boring here for him, especially since I am usually in my lab. At least going to your tower, I will be in a lab and he can do, whatever it is that he does."

Nicoli couldn't help but to give a strained smile. He felt bad, he hadn't thought of that. She would be leaving everything here. But she also had a point. "I think he's a pretty lucky guy if you really think that. Hopefully he'd be willing to come up with a compromise for you so you're most comfortable." He said.

Helena smirked, "I know nothing about his personality, so maybe he could be." she bite her lip, "I don't mean to be rude, it's just..stories about your tower is...well, they tell of a similar personalty popping out a lot more. Serious and sometimes bounder line rude personality, so I don't know how it will feel. You are not what I was expecting."

Nicoli chuckled, he couldn't help glancing over to Eric and then back to Helena. "There are a few like me, don't know if that's good or bad. But some of the more traditional families I think are afraid of what my generation is doing. It's just different than what they're used to. Which isn't bad either, it's just....different." He explained.

Helena smirked, "You like being different, don't you?" she asked as she thought of how many times he had already stated that word.

Nicoli chuckled. "I don't know if like is the right word. But I try to be aware of other differences when I can. It's fine for me now but it wasn't always growing up. Not everyone has the luxury of having it work for the better so early on." He half teased.

Helena looked at him and smirked, "So you came from one of the lower families? Those that were established after the original families created the first tower? My betrothed comes from such a family, the originals were one of the reasons that the marriage cycles were created."
