She wanted to smile, that was a start. A very good start and while he seemed mildly annoyed, it wasn't as much as he had been. "Okay. I'll be sure to do that as soon as we get back." She says. She looked away from Emery and saw the rooms coming up. "Thank you." She adds before quickly walking past him a couple steps to her father's room where she now could open the door with magic easily. She stepped through and glanced to him one last time before disappearing inside.

Emery nodded as he walked her go ahead, making it to his door, as he opened it and went in to get through the papers, he sighed as he got in the room, closing the door. He leaned against it and bite his lip, there was something about her that he didn't understand.

Rowan moved to her father's journal and began to read through it. She decided she would pack it with her. But as she read some of the beginning she started to get an idea. She didn't know where, just the general directions. She felt more comfortable about the next day now. But a lot of the time she found herself thinking of Emery and she hated it.

Emery finished up some work before he was in bed, hearing the door across the hall, he got up and poked hs head out, silently. t was Adam, knocking on Rowan's door, anxiously wating.

Rowan frowned a little in confusion and went to the door. Oddly she was surprised to see Adam. "Adam? Is something wrong?" She asks curiously.

Adam sighed, biting his lip, before he walked in, "I was thinking, Kyle is smart, but there is no way he can protect you. He was a warrior, but he isn't anymore, he doesn't know how to fight anymore."

She stepped back surprised as he in it's hinself in. Then she sighed. She wasn't sure she was okay with him being in here alone with her. "Adam," she sighs gently. "He's not there to protect me as a warrior. He's there as someone to help me and as someone who knew my father." She says.

Adam looked at her, "Well, shouldn't you have someone that can keep you safe with you?"

"I am going to have all of you with me." She points out. "A whole group of us is going. Kyle* and I discussed the best people to come with me for this." She says gently.

Adam sighed, "You should stay close to me, then. I should be the one that protects you."

She watched him curiously, her gaze gentle. "Adam you aren't going to be the only one there to protect me. I'll have you, Emery, and Caleb who even volunteered to be the lone one to go with me." She bit her lip. "I will try to stay near you but Adam why...why are you so persistent about it? It's sweet and I appreciate it, don't get me wrong. I suppose I just don't understand." She says.

Adam looked at her and bite his lip, "Because I like you, Rowan. I don't like it when you rely on anyone else. Caleb isn't a protector, he is an assassin and Emery only cares about the mission, I'm going to keep you safe."

She felt her heart beat quicken and she had to looked away a moment. She decided now was not the time to tell him that Emery had said he would protect her even if that was only because it was his mission. Finally she looked back to him. "Everyone is there to help Adam. I will try to stay with you but it will get to a point where I have to leave all of you to hide the weapons." She says. She wasn't liking where this was going, she thought of Kyle's* warning but more than that she didn't like him that way. She just hoped he didn't truly feel that way for her.

Adam sighed, "Fine, but I will protect you until you do." he smiled at her, "That's the only reason I am taking this mission, to protect you."

His words gave her butterflies and she wished they wouldn't. "Thank you, you're a good friend Adam." She says. She reached for his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before motioning to the door. "You should get some rest. We start early tomorrow." She says.

Adam sighed, he didn' like that she called him a friend but it was better than him being dismissed, he nodded as he started to the door. "I'll see you for breakfast." he told her, "I'll come get you, bright and early."

She smiled a little and nodded. "Okay, I'll see you then. Good night Adam, sleep well." She says gently.

Adam smirked, kissing her hand, "Good night Rowan, I will see you bright and early."

She smiled and watched as he went. Stepping out of her room and standing in the door way to watch as he went. Then she sighed and slid down the frame, sitting with her back against it. She didn't know what to do about Adam. She wanted him as a friend and nothing more. But she didn't want to lose him either

Emery stepped out into the hall, crossing his arms as he leaned against the door frame, "You made a mess, didn't you?"

She glanced over to him and shrugged. "I wasn't trying to but is it a surprise that I did?" She asks dryly. She sighed. "He's a flirt, nothing more, this is going to pass right?" She asks him hopefully. She wasn't surprised he seemed to know what was going on.

Emery sighed, "Adam flirts with everyone, sometimes the girls he flirts with someone  that gets along with him and it gets in his head. But no, it won't pass, it has to be corrected He'll have a violent outburst and get over it when it's over. If you want to fix it, get him something to kill."

She raised an eyebrow. "That simple huh?" She asks. She sighed and turned so she was facing him. "So what? I tell him I'm not interested in that way and then send him to catch us food or something while we're on our mission?" She asks with a little bit of an edge, but it was more because she wasn't sure what to do. "Or maybe we need to run into some of those beasties and he can kill one of those."

Emery glanced at her, "This is your mess, I am just telling you how to clean it up." he said seriously to her. "Whatever we run into, you have to tell him at the right time that you want him as nothing more than a friend. That you could never feel anything more for him because he isn't the type of guy you like." he sighed, "But you can't tell him before danger it has to be during, or you are the one that is going to get hurt. Like he reminds me, he is my best friend and the only one that knows me will enough, I can say that same about him."

She sighed and nodded. So it wasn't that simple. During danger that was going to be the last thing on her mind. And a part of her like to think he wouldn't hurt her, but she did trust what Emery was saying. Finally she got to her feet, looking to him. "Thank you, for the help." She says. "Goodnight Emery." She says quietly before starting to move to go back into her father's room.
