Kyle* stopped in the hall and turned to Nicoli, "Because I haven't gotten the chance. If you aren't with Helena, you are with Rowan, and I didn't think preparing her for her Placement Test was less important that telling you about your wife. You prepared her already and no date was set. So, I made one."

Nicoli fought to keep his mouth shut so he didn’t say something he’d regret. “I’m leaving for the north tower after the burial. When will your father be back so I can speak with him?” He asked.

Kyle* looked at him confused, "You aren't going anywhere." he said as he looked at Nicoli, he was shorter then Nicoli, by a few inches but he didn't really show any concern to that. "Your parents are here, your daughter is here and until you are cleared, you can not leave the Tower. This was your last home in this work and I am it's current Guardian, so no. You will not be going to the North Tower. You are staying here, until my father returns."

Nicoli crossed his arms, if only to help restrain himself. He knew better than to yell at Kyle* and insulting him wouldn’t do much of anything except cause him regret later. And he definitely knew better than to physically challenge Kyle* as the Guardian. As much as he may have wanted to. “When does your father return?” He asked, his tone making it obvious he was trying hard to restrain himself.

Kyle* looked at Nicoli simply, "I don't know. The Council of Spys are not one to give times or dates, so when he returns I will let you know and after that won't change the fact that you are not going to the North Tower." Kyle* pointed out

Nicoli narrowed his eyes a little but then took a deep breath and nodded. “Very well.” He said, his tone cold. He started to turn to go and then paused. “On a different note, please be careful with my daughter Kyle*. You seem like a good kid, and I know you’re doing your best. But just be cautious of what you do around her.” He said, sounding more like a father than an annoyed warrior now. And then he left, going to go back to Helena. He hated that he was grounded here. He knew he should be focusing on Rowan but it was hard to do when she seemed to try to avoid him when she could.

Kyle* watched Nicoli walk away, he sighed as he went back the way he was going before Nicoli found him.

Helena sighed as she drank her tea, she waited for someone to come back, she was sure Nicoli would be the one. He was upset, but she was hoping that he would be calm when he addressed Kyle*. Last thing she hoped was for Kyle* to hold Nicoli, while she was leaving.

Emery sighed when he stopped suddenly, just before Rowan hit him, but that didn't stop her, in her rush with bumping into him. He let out a frustrating sigh, "You know, one of these days you are going to watch where you are going." he snapped

Nicoli did return a little while later. Still upset but not as much as he had been. He’d always had a temper though. He’d started to notice that his daughter had seemed to get that from him. He sighed as he entered Helena’s room. “I can’t believe I’m grounded.” He grumbled as he pulled up a chair beside her bed.

“Yes but then you’d miss me and the personal contact I give you each time.” She retorted, her tone in mock sweetness. Him snapping at her didn’t really bother her anymore. Especially since he didn’t seem to ever have a different tone with her.
On her way out she’d been stopped to be told that her mother’s burial would be the next day. She had been calming down from her earlier frustration though. Her reason for being angry was silly, she knew that, and more reasonable thoughts had begun to fill her head and calm her. Running into Emery had seemed to help with the rest of the process, oddly enough. “Where are you going?” She asked. Emery wouldn’t care about hurting her if they trained, though she doubted she could get him to train with her. But maybe he’d be doing something she could help with. Again she questioned what it was about him that drew her in.

Helena smirked, chuckling a bit before she reached for his hand, "To be fair, you shouldn't leave your daughter, so you deserve it." she teased, and then sighed, "It'll be fine. I'll keep trying and when my uncle is back I will see you. I am sure that he will at least let me visit."

Emery raised an eyebrow, "Why? Don't you have a test to get ready for? What doesn't it matter what I am doing." he stated.

Nicoli smirked, but brought her hand up and gently nuzzled her, resting it against his cheek after. “Why are you so sensible and level headed?” He teased. “I don’t see why you won’t be allowed back once your better.” He pointed out.

Rowan smirked. “I finished my test...well the first one anyway. Turns out I have Sight...I am a Sight?” She asked, not sure how it was phrased. “Anyway I have nothing to do right now. I should train, but I’ve no one to train with. But maybe I could help you with whatever you’re going to do. Might give me a chance to learn from the best and you’d have a legitimate reason to boss me around.” She said playfully. “Or you could have lunch with me. You know I got Adam to training on time that first day and you had promised me a genuine smile. If you let me tag along there will be plenty of opportunities for you to keep that promise.” She said, trying not to smile herself.

Helena sighed, shrugging, "I don't know if I'm being send to heal or not." she told him and smiled, "And I am sensible, because you you are pigheaded and emotional, one of us has to be th evoice of reason." she teased.

Emery looked at her and sighed, "I'm on my way to help Brendon. He has been tracking my brother, but there is nothing that is leading him any closer. He thinks the shadow blade could help." he stated before moving passed her.

Nicoli smirked a little and kissed the back of her hand. “Don’t work on that experiment if I’m not there Helena.” He said quietly. He didn’t care if that meant she never worked on it, he wasn’t going to let her put herself at risk if he wasn’t going to be there with her.

Rowan stilled a little, her mission still fresh in her mind. “I’m coming with then. I think I could help.” She said, moving to follow him. He hadn’t said she couldn’t help. He hadn’t even made a nasty comment. She took that as permission being given.

Helena smirked, "But if I don't, I can't bring her back." she protested and then sighed, "i will be fine, Nicoli. Besides, maybe it's better this way."

Emery rolled his eyes, "From what I hear, you are supposed to be working with Brendon in teh first place, but you still haven't figured anything out and he hasn't seen you. Why else would he need help from someone else."

“It’s not Helena.” He muttered, letting go of her hand to rest his chin on his hands. “Helena I can’t lose you. Let’s just wait okay. We’ll make it work. Just wait until you’re healed and see if you can make it back here. If you really need an excuse then it’s becuase...” he tried to think of something. “Because Rowan is technically your daughter too. Between her and you uncle and cousin doesn’t that give you reason to come back?” He asked her.

“There’s that comment I was waiting for.” She said, rolling her eyes, though it wasn’t fully serious. “I’ve been trying, I’m still learning too though. So maybe if I have someone as good as yourself showing me how it’s done then I’ll get better and can be of more use.” She pointed out.

Helena smirked, "But she's not. She has my blood, but I didn't give birth to her, and she's never thought of me that way. If that was the case, Kyle* wouldn't be able to send me away." she smiled at him, leaning towards him, "You know how this work. When it comes to me, she is thought of as have the rights of an orphan. If she claimed me as a mother then I would be able to stay no matter what, but she has the right to deny it." she smirked, "It's the perfect law to make sure that an orphan can't be taken from a family that loves them, without the child having a say." she reminded him.

Emery glanced in her direction, "You know my head isn't big enough for you to play to my ego, right?" he stated. "Rule number one, no matter how good you are, there is always someone better. And they don't have to be better then everyone else, just you."

Nicole sighed deeply. “Yes, I am well aware.” He said. He knew he couldn’t ask Rowan to do that, especially if she still thought her real mother might return. “I just don’t want you to go.” He said, feeling like a child.

Rowan couldn’t fully hold back her smile as he talked about his ego. “Good to know.” She said. “I’ll be sure to keep that in mind. Right now though you’re still one of the best.” She pointed out. “Big ego or not, you are kinda big headed though.” She said with a grin.

Helena smirked, "Ironic, though." she teased and then sighed, "Sorry, bad joke." she looked at him, "But a Guardian can't be challenged, this isn't a choice."

Emery stopped and glared at her, "Is there a point to you following me, or are you just that bored?" he asked her.

Nicole have her a weak smile. “It is ironic. And my fault entirely.” He said.

Rowan smirked. “I told you I’m going to help, you get the immense pleasure of being like my mentor. And besides this is my mission technically isn’t it? Now I’m done with my first test I can focus on it again.” She said.

Helena placed her hand on his cheek, "But it's not. I could have told you no. Deep down, I knew if I told you no, if I reminded you what we were, if I fought, you would not have left. I knew that ou would be happy just the way we were and that you wouldn't think about her ever again. If I had just said something, but I didn't, I just let you go. It's not your fault, it's mine too."

Emery sighed, "Whatever, just don't get in teh way. Eric isn't someone that you can try to charm, like your father. And you aren't so lucky to charm someone that can be tossed away, like he did Helena."

Nicoli sighed. “We both made mistakes.” He said quietly.

“I never said anything about charming anyone. Are you saying I’ve charmed you Emery?” She asked with a knowing grin. She knew perfectly well that wasn’t what he was saying, but he made it too easy to give him a hard time. It amazed her though how alike Eric and her father seemed sometimes. She looked forward to being able to be his friend without all the secrecy.

Helena smirked, "And now, all we have to do is live with them, like we have been." she sighed, "I love you Nicoli and I will always look out for Rowan if I can. That's what is important."

Emery growled, "You know, you could deal with your own family. After all, word travels like fire. Shouldn't you be thinking of whether it's worth making your father miserable over your cry baby ways. I have no doubt that you are happy Helena is leaving."

Nicoli sighed a little. “I know. She’s the most important part to all of this.” He said. He couldn’t help thinking how she would have made an incredible mother.

Rowan stopped suddenly and shoved Emery hard, she wanted to slap him and she might still. “I don’t want Helena to leave. I actually quite like her and I tried to stop Kyle* from sending her away but he has his reasons. I can’t argue with his choice to send her away.” She growled. “I don’t want her to leave but I have no choice. And you...you don’t get to judge me Emery. Not when you don’t know everything that’s going on here. Now suck it up because I’m coming with you. This is still my mission. But there is far more to it than you know.”

Helena smirked, taking his nose with her finger as she said, "And you shoudl never forget it." she giggled, smiling at him, "Never forget."

Emery growled at her and looked at her, as he glared at her, "No choice. I hate to burst your bubble princess, but you kind of do, or did you miss your first test. Because I heard about that too. Not only does it mean you are not Kyle* betrothed, but that makes you stand as an orphan when it comes to Helena. So, because she isn't your human mother, you won't claim her as your mother, even though you have her blood and genes. Even though, by all means she is your mother. Basic rules, a mother can not be taken from her child's tower." he snapped, "So, yeah, you kind of are at fault, because you are stuck in your own world and decided that because your father loves her, after all, she is his betrothed, that you rather she been gone so he can't complete what he shoudl have over 20 years ago."

“I won’t.” Nicoli promised her.

Rowan would have slapped him if that hadn’t been news to her. “I was never told that. Nothing like that was ever brought up when I truly was an orphan, but I didn’t know...I didn’t know I could claim her as my mother.” She said, genuinely surprised. A part of her wondered who had talked to him, she assumed Adam. But she’d obly said anything to Adam and Kyle*. “W-who do I talk to about that? Who do I talk to to claim her? Kyle*? Hector?” She asked him. She grabbed his hand. “Come on, it’ll be fast, but it has to be before tomorrow.” She knew Helena was trying to bring back her mother but it had been dangerous and as much as she missed her own mother, she didn’t want Helena to die for it.

Helena smiled, nodding, "Good. Because if you forgot, I know a few warriors that would love to hurt you and I have known your weakness long before you have," she teased.

Emery looked at her in surprise, "What?" he said stopping her, he took back his hand and sighed, before he placed his hands on her shoulders, "Calm down. It's not live or death." he stated, and then
sighed again, "You just have to claim her. Go to the register that records family lines and claim to be the daughter of Nicoli and Helena. You are already on his line, they can just join your two lines."
