Turnabout

[Joker]

Taka was hit accidentally as he cursed and raised his fist at Yui. " I can't stand that girl. " he muttered as Shou laughs nervously. Shou noticed the papers on the ground and picked it up. He decided to give this to Yui before he goes to class as Taka knew what he was going to do. He then goes ahead of Shou to the classroom as Shou nodded in agreement to meet him there later. Shou then walked towards where Yui was heading to.


He then saw Yui inside her classroom as he knocked on the window. He then pointed at the papers and smiled. He then mouthed the words, " You left these. "

 

[IceQueen]

Yui looked up and darted out of the classroom, shutting the door. "Uh, thanks." she said, turning to go back into her classroom. But what she saw, was Mei and Jason, hugging, him placing a kiss on her forehead. Quickly, Yui slapped her hand over his eyes, dragging him away from the classroom and away from the lovers.

 

[Joker]

Shou was just smiling, but from where he was standing. He saw glimpse of what seems to be a guy from the team and Mei. He didn't see anything else after that as his eyes were covered by something as he was dragged away. " H-hey ! " he called out to the person on who's dragging him away from the room.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui sighed. "Just trust me when I say you don't want to see that." She said, turning him around and attempting to shove him far far away from Mei. She turned around and there lips where locked in a kiss, Jason's arms firmly around her waist. Yui felt her gut drop, her grip on him weakening. She hoped he wasn't curious about them.

 

[Joker]

He was confused about what was happening and to what Yui had said to him. " Okay ? So, what's lesson three Yui-sensei ? We've got a little time before morning classes start ! " he informed her as he smiled bright and gave Yui a very determined and ready look. With her by his side, it felt like he could do anything.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui sighed. "Lesson three, is accept defeat." Said, letting him go and pointing behind her. She hung her head low, hoping that he would be ok. Just to be sure, she stood next to him, just in case he decided to run, which he probably did want to run as he laid eyes upon his Mei with someone else, kissing each other in an act of love.

 

[Joker]

" Defeat ? " he raises an eyebrow to what she means by that. But then he remembered about Mei being together with someone else in that classroom. Maybe, she meant that he and her were together. Shou felt his heart sink very deeply, he felt like he was just stabbed with a sword right in the chest. He just gave Yui a stare, a blank stare before going back to reality. He simply just gave her a blank smile and a forced laugh. " I see ! So that's what you meant. Well at least I tried right ? Well gotta go, class'll start soon ! " he says as he waves at her good bye turning his back and walking his way towards his classroom.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui raised a hand, pulling his shoulder. "Here. Text me." She said, passing the piece of paper to him. "Just, don't get drunk and sit on the corner of the road. I can help." She said, before solemnly going back to class. She spent the rest of the day thinking about him and how sad he must be. She couldn't find him at lunch, so she decided to find him after class. Mei said something about being super happy, and about the new recruit quitting. She sighed and went searching for him as soon as school ended.

 

[Joker]

In the classroom, Shou was just staring at his desk. He couldn't hear what the teacher was discussing but he didn't care. Everything feels like nothing now. All the hard work he has done was all in vain. He just sat there, like a soulless body with blank eyes. Taka glanced at Shou and knew what happened. It was a bit obvious since earlier he was all happy and cheerful, now he's pretty much like a dead body. Taka placed a hand on his shoulders and tried to comfort him and giving him some advice like, " there are plenty of women in the world Shou, you'll find the right one soon. " or " Come on Shou, I'll take you out to the arcade today. " .


Shou didn't care, he just shook his head as he kept on staring at his desk. Then the final bell was rung, it was finally dismissal and Shou waited for everybody to get up and leave. Taka, stayed for a couple of minutes. He then approached Shou and placed a bread on his desk. " I know you didn't eat lunch, so at least have this. " he said as he gave Shou a smile and Shou giving a little smile to show his gratitude towards his best friend. Taka then left afterwards and Shou was left behind in classroom as he got up and left as well.


Walking on his way home, he didn't feel like going home yet and have his mother see what he looks like now. He visited a playground where kids were now being picked up by their parents and the park then became empty. Shou sat on the swing, placed his hands on the chains and stared on the ground. He doesn't care anymore, there's nothing left for him.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui gave up and walked towards her house. Overall, today had sucked. She sighed and walked towards her house. Her head hanged heavy. She had actually moved on from her old crush to Jason, so that hadn't worked. Not only that but her best friend was so wrapped up in her new found love that she had forgotten about sharing lunches, picking me up this morning or anything else.


Yui decided to take a detour to the local park, hoping that she could find something to distract her. Luckily, she found Shou on the swings. Sighing, she placed her bag down and sat down next to him. At first, there was only silence. Then she spoke up.


"Today has been really shitty hasn't it?"

 

[Joker]

" .. Oh, it's you. " he responded as he just stared down at the ground and on his feet. A lot of things are going through his mind. What if he made his move a little bit earlier, what if he wasn't this shy towards others, and what if he was much more of a man. Seeing the sight of his first crush together with another man totally wrecked Shou. And without even realizing it, tears were already flowing from his eyes. But he still continued to stare at the ground. Not looking up or anything, and not even giving Yui glance. All he could do now was, bite his low lips and cry silently.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui looked over, seeing the tears fall from his eyes. She sighed and slowly reached her arms around him, pulling him closer into a hug. "I know. It hurts like hell." She said, resting her head on top of his. Normally, she would have hated this kind of contact from a man, but right now, one of her friends was heart broken, and she needed to fix it.

 

[Joker]

He hugs her back, a little tightly because he needed it so much. He tried his best to stop crying, but the more he tries to resist the tears the more it let itself out. He couldn't control his feelings anymore. It took a couple of minutes for Shou to stop crying and pulled back from the hug and smiled a bit. " Thanks.. I needed that.. " he thanked her as he stood up.


" I'll.. see you tomorrow then. " he informed her as he bowed, turned around and walked away just like he did back in school. He was heart broken of course, and now he doesn't know where he's going to head next.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui waved. "Text me if you need anything." She said, turning around and heading the opposite direction towards her house. She sighed and walked towards he house. She sighed again, her head hung low. She began to hum a song. It was in a minor key. She was glad that today was a Friday, because she wouldn't have to face Jason again.

 

[Joker]

The next day, Taka locked himself in his room. He didn't want to get up and he didn't want to eat. From time to time his mother would come and knock on his door telling him to come out of the room and tell her what's wrong. But he wouldn't respond. He just lay there on his bed as he waits for time to pass. There was nothing much he could do. He lost his point in life, and that was to love Mei with all his heart. But he couldn't continue to love someone who already loves someone else.


Once again, he curled up in his bed and tears started flowing out. He just couldn't get over it.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui, on the other hand, was in a heated conversation with Mei.


"You broke his hear! And mine!"


"I'm sorry! But where meant to be!"


"You should at the least say sorry to him!"


"Can't."


"Why not?""


"Jason said not to talk to him."


Yui fumed. "Mei, I can't believe I have to say this but please get out of my house." She seethed though clenched teeth. She sighed, slumping on her bed. She decided she needed some icecream and to drown her feelings. And she knew someone who felt the same. She got up and asked her mom for the schools address book, taking it and walking to the store. She bought a ton of ice cream, then found his place. She nocked on the door and his mom let her in.


Once she had reached his room, she knocked lightly before opening the door. 'Hey, brought ice cream." She said.

 

[Joker]

He was surprised to see Yui in his house and his mom for letting him in. But he doesn't mind, he nods for her to come in as he got up from his bed and sat on the ground. He covers himself with his blanket as he looks down, not wanting to meet her eye. He is still down about what had happened to him. He didn't think that she liked a member of the baseball club. He hugged his knees as he just stared blankly on the ground. But then he at least wanted to know, " ..If I had made my move sooner.. would I have gotten her.. ? " he asked Yui in a low voice as he continued to look down.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui sighed, sitting next to him and opening one of the tubs of ice cream. She took a spoon and took a big bite of the ice cream. She sighed. "I think he had a crush on her for years and I think she had been hiding the fact that she liked him from me." She said glumly. "And resulted in breaking your heart and mine." She said. She sighed, taking another bite, looking down with him.

 

[Joker]

" Oh.. " he answered as he didn't even bother in taking a bite from the ice cream. He just sat there hugging his knees as he went into deep thought. But then he realized something, Yui liked the person that Mei likes. She probably feels the same kind of pain as he is, but only Shou is being much more of a wuss than she is. " Thank you for helping me with my unrequited love though.. " he thanked her again.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui smiled. "No problem." She said. "And sorry if me visiting you was sudden, I just really needed to see a friend who didn't gush about her new boyfriend every two seconds." She said, sighing. "We got into a pretty big fight this morning." She said, taking more ice cream. "Now I feel like shit." She said, swallowing the ice cream.

 

[Joker]

He laughs a bit as he nods. " Taka invited me to play at the arcade with him. " he informs her as he reaches for his pocket taking out his phone and showing her the text message of Taka. " Maybe you want to come ? We both seem like we need a change of pace at least. " he said as he placed the phone back in his pocket and glancing at the ice cream.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui smiled. "Sure. And you can have some ice cream if you want." She said, taking another bite. "I find it helps when you get bad news. Normally I borrow Mei and we binge on junk food and neflix. But due to complications, I had no one. Plus you kind of feel what I do." She said, savoring the flavor of cookie dough ice cream.

 

[Joker]

He smiles heartily at Yui's thoughtfulness. He then took the spoon beside the table and took out his phone as he took a scoop of the ice cream, licking it. He then sends Taka a text message saying, "We'll be there." . and he closes the phone and enjoys his ice cream on a spoon. He glances at Yui and smiles.

 

[IceQueen]

Yui smiled back, taking another scoop. 'There is something about eating ice cream out of the tub with a spoon that is really enjoyable. It's like a party, but for two people." She said, smiling as she twirled the spoon, licking the ice cream off the spoon. She smiled and made a small content noise, licking the extra off her lip.

 

[Joker]

Now a bit enjoying his time with her, he then finishes his ice cream as he placed the spoon on the table. Someone knocks on the door, as his mom comes in bringing his favorite, Yorkshire tea. And orange juice for Yui since she does not know what she really wants. Shou gets a little embarrassed when he's mom acts nicely to his friends, especially to a girl because she would get like.


" Please take care of my darling Shou, he's a nice guy really. " she said as she smiles with a flustered face touching her own cheek.


" Mom! o-o-out !" Shou tries to order his mom to get out of his room as she just laughs. " Now now Shou, don't do anything weird while the two of you are alone in your room ~" she mentions as she lets herself out of the room and Shou blushing from what she had said.


" S-sorry for that.. " he apologizes to her as she laughs nervously.
