Oh, I do believe alerts not coming up stems from not having posted in so many days. Annoying, isn't it? :\ What I usually do it click the unwatch thing and then rewatch it. It's kind of like a refresh button... I guess?
No.

Alerts don't come up when you open the alerts tab and see it but you don't click the link to go to the page. If you're doing many things at once, this happens a lot. Occasionally go to the home page and click "Watched threads" and you'll see all posts in watched threads that you didn't click on.

So, are we ready to go to the first planet? More importantly, are we excited to go there?
Cause I am (:B)
Hold on, lemme just finish some stupid weekend homework.

I mean, weekend homework? Really? ;;

Have fun with you 6-10 PM colleges (:3)
On saturday...
Weekends are like... a sleep schedule reset, really. How does one operate without those? Sounds like suicide, applying for college now...

sleep schedule reset?

My daily schedule is wake up at 1 pm... go to bed at 6am, rinse and repeat... unless I have an exam or a lecture in the morning.

I know around here you can actually schedule your classes. My brother did one every other day so he could do homework and go to work on the off days. Classes aren't usually every single day for the same class.

Yeah, the upside is that you don't have that many lectures I suppose, but I'll have to do a lot of reading when I'm home. You can do homework whenever you like though, whether it is 3pm or 3am. Sometimes you do get odd things, like my lectures that go from like 3pm to 8pm, which makes eating dinner a bitch when you only get a 30 minute break max.

I joined the Navy right out of Highschool but my schedule is pretty wonky sometimes too, especially when your ship is in the Shipyard. All I can say is you get used to it eventually.

That said, you'll never get a life as structured again as you had in high-school. Unless you get something like a government job or so.

Good! I honestly find that most of this stuff, even in middle school, is way too micro-managed. Rarely do we ever improvise but in history, and that's just 'cause our teacher is unusually awesome.

Well the problem with improvising is that you can't have someone do it for you... if you want it to be more open you can just do extra stuff on your own terms. For example learning a language, or even maths, you can do background research very easily on your own terms alongside your usual work.

Exactly, you get to do it yourself! You get to determine what it is you do, instead of just being given things to do. Though I guess that goes the same way with hobbies, you can't pour too much into side-stuff according to society. You've gotta leave a bit of energy for the stuff you're actually given to do...

It's the same with university, except none gives a shit if you actually fail or not.

The stack of books I have to read is insane, but none is going to check, because none cares. It isn't like you suddenly are more free, the only thing you get more freedom in is fucking yourself over.

.... "according to society"....

Spazz... if you only do side stuff, you have to get it to sell or otherwise get a job, because, you kind of need money for food....

:\

Eh... well I meant with something like you being your own boss, that college never was, is not and probably never could be remotely like that. Heck, society could hardly be like that. While there are the rare few who live in such a way, majority says no.

Exactly. People can sell paintings, can they not?

If here's a market for it, then yes. In which case you can spend all of your time doing what you love. If there's not, then it has to stay a side-job, so you can survive.

Spazzy, societal norms don't affect us quite as much as you think... money's a bit necessary, that's why a lot of these things you're commenting on exist....

Also, you can make a hobby out of something that makes money. I used to be a die-hard gamer, but the moment I got to university I instead switched everything around. I sincerely hated languages, only did maths and sciences. Now I have a hobby in learning foreign languages, because I know it is a skill that will help me in the future, which is so much more fulfilling than just desperately trying to make something that will never get you anything work.

I know, I know. I know that I've got what's a really unrealistic fantasy stuck in my head, and that even without the Hunger Games, most stuff is still subconsciously set to 'survive.' I've just have some odd, misplaced hope that I might not totally loathe my career. xD

Anywhale, we might not want to let this spiral down into a second CCC... (I probably should have thought of that earlier...)

I make chainmaille, I can sell that at craft shows, I get a pretty good pay, considering. It's not my favorite thing in the world, but I enjoy it and it burns time. I still have to go to school. I still am dirt poor. I'm not mad at society or anything, though. My choice, after all.

Spazz, don't insult us, everyone here is more mature than the CCC brats. We're just having a discussion.
