Futuristic Those That are Hunted

"What? Why? Don't think we're good enough eh? Fine have it your way. Maybe you aren't bold enough but ok." She says and turns her slim body back towards Hayden. "Lets go. Toron is waiting."

Toron carries the growing pup around for a bit before placing it down. He grabs a rope from the bag and offers it to the dog who lightly pulls. Toron finds himself pulling back. Soon they are both pulling their hardest and have a full of tug of war going. Eventually the pup prevails and toron leans back. Laying down. He grabs a bottle of water and drinks thirstily. He dog looks at him an barks. Toron cups a hand and pours in some water allowing the do to lap it up he keeps pouring until the dog backs away and sits on its haunches. "Good boy."

Piper didn't respond to what Kytha said. Instead, she looked over the city and wondered what the hell she was going to do. She could see immense danger behind that rebel trio, but it wasn't like she could just singlehandedly take them down. Did the agents hire mercenaries? Could she work with them to take these guys down and then leave of free will at the end of the battle?

Vulcan wakes up earlier than Amelie, as usual. It was still early in the morning, the sun barely rising. He decides to let her sleep, she needed the rest and besides, she was out on a well earned vacation. He lightly kisses her forehead and rises from the bed, moving quietly like a cat in order not to wake her up. He goes in the kitchen and tests the sharpness of some knives he finds arranged in the knife block. When he finds the sharpest one he wraps it in some paper as not to cut himself and sheathes it in his pocket, walking outside. His breath was forming steam, the blades of grass were still covered in dew. He walks until he reaches the first trees of the forest, then shifts, sniffing the ground. Early in the morning was the best time to hunt. The air was still fresh, no smells to distract his nose, the light fog provided him with the needed cover as well. Vulcan was hunting deer today. The Glass were of fairly small build and now he understood why Amelie wasn't eating so much. Of course, compared to him, every human ate less. He has to walk for almost an hour through the forest, keeping his head low until he finally catches the scent of some deer. He lays low, crawling forward, following the scent, upwind so his prey wouldn't smell him. He spots some white-tail does through the thicket about fifty meters from where he was cowering. He was about to crawl nearer and chase after one of them but then stops halfway. What better way to test out the powers of those soul orbs. He summons one that appears laying low to the ground next to him, copying his movements, as if it knew what he was up to. Let's see what you can do, little guy. Move closer! The orb slides under the leaves, moving silently and unnoticed like a prowling snake. As it is just a few meters away from the grazing white-tail it stops, waiting for the final command from its master. Kill! The red orb shoots from underneath its hiding and effortlessly penetrates the victims chest, coming out as a crimson mist from the other side. Its power has been used up and it had evaporated. Not much but more than sufficient. The animal didn't even have time to lift up its head. It immediately drops to the ground. The others, realizing their fellow has fallen, jump up and run panicky in every direction. A clean, painless kill. Death was merciful to the non-corrupt souls. The hunter rises and walks to his kill, sniffing it for any rests of the soul orb or disease. Vulcan had no problem devouring ill animals because of his immune system but Amelie and Alec would become sick from it. He takes its neck in his mouth and begins dragging it back to the house. This would bleed the meat out nicely. He sets the deer down at the very edge of the forest and shifts back human, taking out the knife, crouching and starting to gut and skin the dead animal, separating any inedible tissue from the meat. When he's finally finished he leaves the waste in the forest a few meters from where he had been working for Mother nature or rather the other inhabitants of the forest to deal with the rest and walks back to the animal, lifting it up by the hind legs, hanging it across his back. There was still some butchering to do but Vulcan was overall satisfied with the hunt - a really nice doe, about 70 pounds of clean high quality venison.

He knocks on the door, realizing only now how horrible he looked - too late. His clothing was wet and covered in blood splatters from the cleaning of the meat and dirt from cowering in the wet forest. And even if the meat was the freshest they could get, he probably stank like a dead animal. He could already imagine the face of either of them, who happened to open the door first. He kinda hoped it would be Amelie because if it happened to be Alec he probably would have to stay out like a dirty disobedient mutt.

Hayden looks back at Kytha, both of confused about the whole dragon thing and glad she's back. He couldn't help but smile. Yet this smile didn't last long as Piper had attempted to walk out of the rebellion. He looked at Kytha, "She does now we can find her, and kill her... right?" He asks.

Piper heard what Hayden said and whipped around before standing up and glaring at him. "What the h*ll is your problem, dude? I didn't say I was going against y'all or anything. I just said I didn't want to join y'all. There's a valid difference. Do you always resort to killing people when they don't agree with you?"

Amelie snuggled up close to him before falling asleep. Having him with her at night made her nightmares go away and she hasn't slept better. She awoke to the sound of knocking and wondered her it could be. Her brother was passed out by now, probably had just fallen a sleep a couple hours earlier. Hearing the knock again Amelie groaned and cursed her brother for being a night owl. Her arm reach out across the bed to try and wake Vulcan to get the door but what she got was an empty space. Sighing, she sat up. Now she knew who it was. Rubbing her eyes she got out of bed and walked to the door. Her footsteps were light and you could barely hear them as she padded through the house. She looked through the peep whole just take make sure it was him and gasped. Amelie unlocked the door and swung it open. "Wat the hell are you doing with that thing?" Amelie pinched her nose. "And that smell. I cant let you in the house with your clothes like that nor with that thing."

"That thing is our lunch - a really nice deer. You can't get such fresh meat anywhere. Do you want me to cut it outside so you can just bring it into the freezer? Then I can go into town to look for new clothes. How's that? Just bring me the biggest knife you can find in the kitchen." Vulcan waited on the mat, smiling like a complete fool. His work better not have been for nothing. Well, not nothing. In these past weeks he's been on a literal diet and his tummy was rumbling. If they did not want the meat he would eat it by himself.

"Alright." Amelie closed the door the smell wouldn't come into the house any more than it already had. A few moments later she came back with what he requested. "I'll come with you to get clothes. I need some as well. These fights are ruining all of mine." Amelie still only had the clothes that was given to her after she was healed and for some reason she didn't have any left here.

"Thank you." He took the knife and the large pan from her hands and walked behind the house, out of anyone's sight, setting the carcass on the ground and rubbing his palms. Wolves usually brought food back to their mates but he was beginning to realize that this was not always accepted with approval by humans. He cut all the meat around the bones. Even with a sharp knife like the ones he had available he would need an ax to chop through bones almost as thick as those of a human. When he was finished the pan was almost overflowing. He takes the bones and the meat that had been left out back to the forest and shifts, devouring the meat along with the smaller bones and gristle. His hunger has been sated for now. Then he shifts back human, setting the rest of the bones on the pile of hide and entrails and goes back to the house, picking up the pan and knocking with his foot on the front door for his hands were full. "I'll carry that. No need to make you stinky as well."

Amelie opened the door for him and moved aside. After he walked through she opened the freezer. "You know you don't need to hunt your food anymore right? The government gives up a monthly allowance, which is quite a lot, so you can just buy your food. Took me four months to be able to buy my house." She wanted to help Vulcan but didn't want the smell on her.

He walks past Amelie, sets the pan on the counter and grabs some nylon bags, packing in the meat and arranging it into the freezer. "Yeah, but where's the fun in that? I don't hunt just for the food. It's in my nature. Besides, you never know what they put in that meat you buy at the store." Then he washes the pan, the knives and his hands with lots of soap. He was still looking like a bloody butcher but it was somewhat better to look at. The shop assistant from the clothing store might even let him in. If not there were always his ways of shopping, mainly knocking someone out and hoping that his clothes would fit. "Alright, I'm ready, lets go. You've probably been in the town countless times so lead the way."

"She does now." A small laugh follows the scentence. Then turning her attention to piper, she says, " We won't kill you if you don't kill us and I have a feeling that you have plans for us. And I swear to god If you try anything I will stab you in the heart!"

Piper cocked her head at Kytha and half-smiled at her, "Kid, I'd love to see you try," she whispered before she turned away and shifted into a gryphon. She shrieked at the group before, a warning cry, and then turned around as she sprinted to the edge of the roof and jumped off. Spreading her wings, Piper caught air and then flew down and away from the roof, headed back towards where she remembered the Lucky Inn was. Hopefully the three agents hadn't left yet.

"I know just a little more than you. Never really went into the city often but I do know where the clothing store is. We can take my brother's car. He hardly uses it so he probably wont miss it." Amelie took the keys that were on the counter and jingled it in front of his face. ""But first." She ran back into their room and came out with a towel. "You are sitting on this." She led him to the garage and opened it. "I always thought his car was cute." She said walking to the silver hyundai elantra. Amelie waited for him to get in and pulled out. The drive to down town was only a few minutes and even then everything was spread out. It really was a small town. She parked in front of a local clothing store and waited for Vulcan to get out. "Let's just hope they let you in."

"You've got your own idea of cute..." Vulcan hated cars. He couldn't drive one and he didn't want to either. He always felt like in a tin can when riding in one. He almost hits his head on the frame as he gets in and makes himself as comfortable as he can on the towel. Once the door closes he immediately lowers the window. Not only because of the smell but also because he was used to the wind hitting him in the face when riding his now again non-existent motorcycle. When he gets out, first thing he does is shake off and inhale some fresh air. The two enter the store and as expected receive the weird looks from the only shop assistant. The shop wasn't that big and there were no other customers at that time so after thinking her decision through for a minute the saleswoman tells them to look around but keeps Vulcan in her sight at all times. He internally sighs with relieve. Even if it was really hard sometimes, he did want to leave his criminal past behind. He was a new man. He only now realized that this was the first time he was going clothes shopping. It was either Ivan who arranged for clothing or he just stole them himself. Never really had anything to choose from and now that he was in a store where he had to pick something he felt completely lost. "Help?", he whispers to Amelie. Women were said to love shopping, basically spend their whole free time in stores. He suspected Amelie wasn't that kind of woman but she surely had a better taste for fashion than him.

Back in the Lucky Inn hotel room, Xander found himself knocked out, absolutely exhausted from his overexertion during that last fight. His wolf anxiously paced around the room, whining at not doing any activity for such a long time.

Piper landed on a nearby roof, seeing the Lucky Inn across the street from her. The place was riddled with cops and whatnot as they worked on repairing the area. She shifted back into her human form and then looked around, knowing her only way to find out if the agents were still around was to check in the rooms of the hotel. She knew this would take too long though, so she resolved to get some rest for the time-being. Shifting into her dragon form really kicked her energy levels to ground zero. Shifting into a pigeon to keep suspicion down, Piper flew to a satellite antenna and landed on it before tucking her head against her body and nodding off.

Amelie laughed at him. "Your confused look is so cute." She pulled him over to the men's section. "Hmm..." Amelie wasn't the best at clothes shopping but she will do her best. Unfortunately Amelie really only liked dark colors except for blue and light green but she didn't know how well those colors would look on Vulcan. "I wonder how a dark green would look." She picked up a dark green collared shirt that looked like Vulcan's size and a pair of soft black pants. "They are nicer than the uniforms we get. If you don't like the colors we can try others." Amelie already basically knew what she wanted to get.

He took the clothes she showed him and examined them. "Robin Hood?" The colors were dark enough so his black fur would not stand out too much if it ever happened to show up on his clothes again and the sleeves looked long enough to cover all the tattoos. They weren't anything special but someone aware of the muster might recognize them. He goes into the first dressing room that catches his eye and tries them on. They fit and he didn't look bad in them. He hadn't really worn soft clothes before. All his garments consisted of leather or Kevlar. "Let's see how long these will last." He smirks. Nothing they wore ever lasted long, simply because of their fast and dangerous lifestyles. "How about you?"

Amelie gave him a look when he said Robin Hood. When he came back out she looked him over and loved the way he looked. "They will last long enough. And for me, I need shorts but I'll probably buy a dress. Haven't worn one in a while." She grabbed a few pairs of short shorts before looking through the dresses. Amelie knew it wouldn't be convent if they got in a fight but it's not like she hasn't fought in a dress before. She pulled out a mint blue dress. She went and changed into it and walked back out. It was strapless and ended at about thigh length. Luckily the cold never bothered her so she could where it whenever it. Her dark hair looked even darker against the dress and her pale skin but it looked good on her. At least she thought so. ~Not going to wear combat boots with this. Probably will just go barefooted.~ She shrugged. "How does it look." She did a twirl before stopping and having a disgusted look on her face. She was becoming girly and wasn't sure if she liked it. Amelie thought about hunting gifted down and instantly felt better knowing she stilled enjoyed fighting.

Vulcan watched her as she walked around and picked her clothes. When she came out of the dressing room his yaw almost dropped. She looked so beautiful and graceful, her hair and the draping flying as she turned. Vulcan was struggling with the choice of the right words. "You look... fabulous." She always did. "Why the grumpy face all of a sudden? Smile. You look beautifully." He hugged her from behind as she was still looking in the mirror. They were agents, yes, but they were still allowed to have fun in their spare time. "Are we ready?" Vulcan was feeling comfortable everywhere he went with Amelie but not in a store. Perhaps it was just a man thing.

"I'm grumpy because you are making me want to dress nice and...care about the way I look. I'm not sure if I like that." She leaned into his hug and sighed happily. Peace was nice but Amelie didn't like it when it was peaceful for too long. "All we have to do us pay. You aren't a criminal anymore so you can't just walk out." She moved out of his hold and took his hand in hers a and the other hand held her old clothes and the shorts she wanted. At check out Amelie gave the woman her work card. It was government issued and caused the cashier to look at them nervously. Unlike Vulcan, Amelie looked young enough to still be in high school. Looks she both loved and hated. "Is there anywhere you'd want to go? Alec won't be up for a while."

Spending some good time with someone he cared about was something new to Vulcan as well. Spending time with a woman not for her body, not for the nights spent with her... for what was on the inside, for the feeling they shared. Ivan had been a good teacher. It's like the old man knew that something like this would happen some day - that his boy would find a place he belonged, a job he enjoyed and a woman he loved. Vulcan was wondering where he was now, what he was doing. Perhaps there was a way to call him. He knew him number from memory. But not now. Why bother the old man with his nonsense. He was probably on the USA Trip he wanted to do for so long.

Not a criminal, yeah, hopefully. Paying for something and not robbing the whole place in the process - this was something he still had to get used to. It was manageable. He could see himself as a fleshed out agent some day, perhaps still with Amelie at his side... "I haven't seen much of this town. Don't know any nice locations. Your choice." Nice places? A few months ago he would call a night bar, a fight club or any dark street corner a nice place...

When they walk outside the store Vulcan remembers something, mainly what they would be having for lunch. "Oh, does your brother cook... anything besides those strange hamburgers with more bread than meat in them? No offense. I know some nice recipes for that deer. Saw some empty stalls yesterday. The market should be open right now." He takes her hand and leads her towards where he had seen the stands. It wasn't far from where they were standing. Even if he didn't really cook, Ivan always insisted that he learns how to.

When they arrived at the market it was indeed open and there were already crowds of people walking around the stands, talking to the sellers, arguing about the price or freshness of the products. Luckily Vulcan did't need to lead such conversations. He just had to follow his nose that soon leads him to the right places. Some sellers were offering fruits and vegetables, others meat, fish, spices, other stalls were like small grocery shops, where one could find packaged products. There were so many smells that it was overwhelming. Still, they soon find their way to some stalls with what he needed.

He buys some onions, carrots, garlic, red peppers, sour cream, some fresh basil and thyme. He goes over the recipe in his head again to make sure he didn't forget anything. It was the most lazy and fast recipe he knew but it still was very tasty. The thing with venison was that it was very tough unless there was some sauce to it and it was prepared properly. "That should be all" He pays the man and leads Amelie out of the crowd of the marketplace, holding her by the hand, on their way out snatching an apple from under the nose of a salesman, too busy to talk to customers than watch his goods. Perhaps this small town wasn't used to thieves. He just hoped Amelie hadn't seen him do that as well. He just couldn't help it. "So, where to now? I'll need no more than an hour or two to prepare this."

(Now I want a venison burger....my roommate would always make some when she came home from hunting.)

Amelie was surprised to say the least when Vulcan mentioned the markert. "My brother makes perfectly good burgers. You just eat a lot. Have you seen us? Does it look like we can eat an entire animal?" She followed him to the stands. ~ugh people.~ Amelie was much better with less people. That way she could keep an eyes at what was going on around them but that didn't stop her from looking at the stands one caught her eye in particular but she would wait till after Vulcan got his stuff.

"Whatever it is that you are making will probably be better than what he can cook. I will admit to that." When she was lead out of the crowd Amelie relaxed a little. She hadn't noticed him steal the apple for she was too busy trying to remember where that stand from before was. "I saw some strawberries I wanted but now I can't find the stand." She sighed. ~oh well maybe next time.~ "Well we will have to go back to the house sjyway. I know some of your stuff needs to be refrigerated."

"Really? Strawberries? I saw some wild ones in the forest this morning.... I'll get some. Just stay here." He hands her the bag and after a bit of uncertainty the stolen red apple as well, then slips back into the crowd, commanding his nose to look for the small red fruits. When he finally finds some he buys two boxes weighting a total of one kilogram and rushes back to Amelie, stealing a second apple from another stand. "There. Wasn't long, was I?" He puts the boxes in the larger bag and takes it from her hands, leading her back to the car, biting into his apple. For some reason all canines simply adored the taste of those sweet fruits - forbidden fruits.
